Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Hello,
Marne reckon you and me are level pegging as I am 30 weeks today and still have a pathetic bump. However despite still having a 'waist' I've developed strange stretch marks, like shock waves, emanating from my belly button! My friend reckons I must have tight ligaments there but would be suprised if anything was tight around my flabby belly!
Agree about Braxton Hicks - buggers kept me awake til 1.30am last night and was beginning to think the baby was coming. May have to have paracetamol to hand later...
I had a cat that used to come for walks and also used to sit on my pony's bum in the sun!

Jackstini · 08/01/2006 20:31

Hi all. Gosh we are all getting organised now! My furniture arrives on 19th so figured I will was everything then (no point before as I can't put it away!) Will then start packing bag I guess - good to hear what everyone is planning to take.
Still have no travel system - been looking today with dh and so hard to choose! Half of them I had to disregard anyway as too heavy for me to lift into the boot!
Munz - I am with you on looking at clothes though - have to keep having a peek although everything I have is very samey/neutral. As soon as it is born I am sending dh out for something appropriately blue or pink!
Back at midwife on 17th now - could not do my bloods last time as too close to new year. Last time baby's head was down but it was 'spine to spine' - hoping might have moved this time... Also hope she will have some news on ante-natal classes too. Am fuming as the ones we wanted to do at the hospital are fully booked. (evening/weekends so dh could come). They said at my last scan to book a few weeks in advance - I now find out they mean 5 months in advance - they are booked up until the end of May so no use at all! (Rant, Rant ) Know how you are feeling Piffy!
I am fingers crossed for a private room too - they do have a hotel floor at my hospital but just depends how booked up it is. Other than that not really made any birth plan yet
lol at vyy just telling your colleagues - I got spotted at 9 wks and had to fess-up!
Also lol at RP and the 'bringing on the birth' tips. Bet we will all be trying everything possible so keep them coming!
Glad everyone seems ok and some are as nervous as me x

UniSarah · 08/01/2006 21:15

Thanks for home birth info URL RP, very interesting. I'm going to pop into the surestart centre on Wed and have a chat with midwife about it.
Baby clothes ARE cute arn't they. I have some tiny wee socks I can only get one finger in to, hope they stretch :-)
Pip is another of the wriggly type, glad to hear I'm not alone with an alien on board. His latest party trick is bouncing up and down on my bladder-Hard.Can't tell if it was that or the Braxton Hicks that woke me up last night, it was pip that kept me awake tho.

Jackstini are you going to Nottm city?

hotmama · 08/01/2006 22:04

Jackstini - just popped over from the Feb thread. I'm going to Nottingham City - went with dd - thought it a good hosp.

However, my mw told me last week that they have closed one of the wards - so only have two - so may need to be arsey if they want to kick you out and you want to stay in - just thought I would let you know. If you are going to QMC - you won't care!

Marne · 09/01/2006 15:30

Hi girls, had a realy bad night last night, almost phoned the hospital. Went to bed at 10.30 took 2 hours to get to sleep, woke at 3am with bad braxton hicks then dd wakes up and gets in my bed, braxton hicks got stronger and only 3 minutes apart and did'nt stop till 6am. So now feeling realy grumpy and tierd, dd wont leave me alone and is clinging to my leg.

laundrylover · 09/01/2006 15:51

Sending you tea and sympathy Marne. These B H are a pain aren't they? That must have been unbearable last night -bet you thought the baby was coming for real. They're supposed to get worse with each pregnancy and my admiration for my auntie, who has 8 kids, goes up and up!! Try for an early night tonight and fingers crossed for no Hicks.

RosiePosie · 09/01/2006 17:07

Sounds horrendous, Marne - mine don't feel painful, just uncomfortable.

Speaking of things which get worse with subsequent pregnancies, can we talk about afterpains? I didn't have any with my first, last time they were quite painful for a couple of days. I'm really worried about how painful they are going to get his time. I wish they'd leave me a canister of G&A to help deal with them!

OP posts:
Marne · 09/01/2006 17:44

Did'nt have many after pains last time, make sure you have plenty of pain killers ready!
Was just thinking, would a tens help with baraxton hicks and after pains? used one when i was in labour and was'nt much use but some people find them realy good.

laundrylover, i realy did think i was in labour last night as the pains were that bad, was told by my midwife if they got that bad to give the hospital a ring. They felt like strong contractions but they were only lasting 30 seconds at a time but 3 minutes apart. Woried that when i do go into labour for real i will think i'm just having braxton hicks.

My bump is fealing very hard and still aching from last night, hope tonight i can get some sleep, finding it realy hard as dd (almost 2) still doesnt sleep through.

newgirl · 09/01/2006 19:01

marne - that sounds awful - hope you have a better night tonight.

friz - sorry to hear about your grandma.
munz - crikey! muscly and clean what a man!

all ok here - bought a rocking horse today but still nothing else. Not too keen on the whole birth thing - trying to pretend that bit won't happen...

I'm not a great fan of the hospitals either although I did find everyone kind. I was in for 5 days after a c-section but munz, if all goes well you can go home quite soon - 24 hours latest I reckon - a midwife will come to visit you at home anyway. If you plan to breastfeed its quite good being in hospital as you can get some help. Would you believe I got bored - money for the tv might be good!! also magazines.

I thought the food wasn't that bad although my dh brought in lots of fruit and smoothies as it was so hot. and donuts.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 09/01/2006 20:36

Ouch Marne, you have my sympathies, if its any help my midwife told me to go into hosp if any BH's that were painful lasted for more than an hour....so they can keep an eye I guess? you are def due march aren't you, dates aren't a month out??

Hi to all anyway, got our new picasso today, hurrah! bar the fact dd's car seat doesn't seem to fit so off to shops tomorrow to try and sort, will also be taking new bubbas seat down, to double check it's ok in the car.....

munz · 09/01/2006 21:29

marne - echoing friz here r u sure it's not something else? u have my sympathys hon, if I moan again someone please slap me! I think tens are only safe to use after 36 weeks, but I could well be wrong, do u have a mothercare u could ring/pop into? infact i'll have a search for u.

ng - u see my vin pic? hmm so yummy! infact off for my first dose of him tonight with the pacifier - again - ooh anything that sees him with no top on! lol. god i'm so shallow! i'm planning on staying in over night at the most, althou I apparently at our hospital DH will be sent home every 4 hours for a rest, so might stop over night and let him home for a good nights rest b4 we both come home, but we'll see.

glad to see everyone's getting all their bits and bobs together - I was beging to feel like a right saddo! lol.

rp - how is the home birth plan coming on? - DH is still dead set against it, he wants a hospital birth for the first one. not too sure myself, I'm more worried about the size of a grapefruit coming out of a lemon! lol.

anyhow jnr seem's to be constantly active, accept from when I'm actually moving about and doing stuff ie putting the bins out, hope it doens't mean he's gonna be a live wire! can't wait for him to move down either and leave my rib cage alone! - anyone else having the YMCA played on their ribs right now?

anyhow hope everyoen's ok. hopefully 6 weeks to go - officially, and only 24 working days - YAY!!!!

munz · 09/01/2006 21:32

tens

stand corrected according to this site it says to be used from 37 weeks unless medically supervised. I guess talk to your m/w first and see what she says?? - does a warm bath help? - I find jnr relaxes a bit if I have a soak in the tub.

romilly · 09/01/2006 22:57

hi everyone - lots of chat going on, nice to see. i have been busy bidding and purchasing our new house so sorry not to have been posting. also i am another one measuring 36cm at 31+5 - so am off for a growth scan week after next. who else is measuring big - and are you going for scans anybody???????

munz - i keep looking at all the cute little clothes too - its one of the best bits of pregnancy as far as i am concerned - beats all the medical stuff anyway!

munz · 10/01/2006 07:59

rom - u take care of u and let us know how u go, hope it's not GD or anything and u just have a load of water around buba.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/01/2006 08:48

Rom, hope all is ok with bubba and size, finger x'd its just lots of water, but better safe than sorry (or squeezing a large one out of that small space!)

Munz have a fabby pic in mind now of YMCA baby lol, think mines doing handstands at the mo....

Marne how are you today? any further bother?

MrsFrostgetful · 10/01/2006 09:35

COPPERTOP...thought i'd post here...sothat i can catch up with how you are doing 'bump wise'!!!

Hope you are 'both' well....what date are you officially due????

Frizbetheexpansionset · 10/01/2006 13:16

Well hurrah for me, dh came back from work, as raining to hard to do anything (was an outside job today!) so I left him in waiting for the delivery people, who still haven't been, sigh.. and went to get the car seats checked out and.....hurrah!! dd's car seat does fit the new car, it just needed to be on setting no2, so she's not quite sitting upright, which will probably miff her, but tough stuff until she's 3 when she can have a proper booster! and bump can have her seat bumps car seat also fits, so am very happy and considerably richer!!

Jackstini · 10/01/2006 14:36

Friz - glad the car seats worked out ok. Still not got mine yet but am off shopping later. I am going into Nottm City - Thanks for the tip about the ward Hotmama. You never know, might see you in there if y u are late/I am early!
Munz - know what you mean about ribs being played! Although now baby is moving down am starting to get really sore 'down there'. My SIL is 2 weeks ahead of me and says it gets worse. Feels like someone has kicked me or I am bruised from rampant sex!

laundrylover · 10/01/2006 15:00

Rampant sex? What's that? Think Pete is remembering the sleep deprivation to come as keeps pestering quietly - certainly not rampant though! In fact I could read my book at the same time and not notice!!!
Friz - my car seat will not sit up properly so think you've solved a mystery. It came from my cousin with no instructions though so thought we were doing something wrong. Mind you Halfords used the Ford Focus (like ours) as an example of a car that takes any seat so not sure....
Marne reckon if they get that bad again ring the labour ward and see what they say eh?

Marne · 10/01/2006 15:06

Hi, had a beter night last night, having a bath does help the braxton hicks (seem to spend half the day led in there), will def phone the midwife if they get that bad again. Thanks munz for the info on the tens.

My double pushchair arived today, it looks so wide, im bad enough with a single.

Hope you are all well, must go trying to get dh to take me shopping and then mcdonalds.

munz · 10/01/2006 15:12

friz - rampent sex??? what's that then, we've only had sex 6 times I think in 32 weeks DH having bump issues tbh, it's the whole thing if LO kicks mid flow it will put him off! lol.

marne - glad ur pram came.

laundrylover · 10/01/2006 15:27

Munz you need to turn around!! Spoons is the way to go and bump stays out of the way!! Or I guess doggie but not that adventurous these days as no longer alcohol fuelled!

RosiePosie · 10/01/2006 16:19

Lol, agree about spoons - it's the only way we manage it these days ( about once a month )- especially as I can't open my legs due to SPD - it's a very submissive position - I can't do anything, but lie there. . which is fine by me at the moment! Still, when I get to 38 weeks, I'm insisting it's done on a daily basis

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 10/01/2006 16:21

Oh, about the TENS - I use it for my SPD pain and have done for weeks, but I think if you're having strong Braxton Hicks, you probably shouldn't, just in case it encourages things along - I don't think it's likely, but I wouldn't want to say for sure. I really love TENS and find it a very effective form of pain relief, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.
