Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

OK. If you are feeling in need of cheering up check out the 'A problem in lovemaking' thread. Sorry don't know how to do links. It's not the initial post that is funny but the ensuing revelations if you see what I mean. You have to read the whole thing though or you'll miss some gems. I haven't added to it as Pete wants to read it after leaving 'Lost' to see why I was laughing like a loony!!

romilly · 12/01/2006 16:29

lol laundrylover - will check it out when i get an idle moment i forced myself to stay awake to watch LOST last nite - and what a crap ending! i knew it would be something rubbish like that, just to keep us all hanging in there. what a con

thanks for the info on TENS spiker, marne and rosie p - although now it sounds like i may have to have a c-section i will wait and see.

spiker - good luck with your move. we are hoping that we can drag out the exchange process (shouldnt be too difficult! knowing what solicitors are like with house sales) so that we are not actually moving on my due date!! it would have been much more sensible to move before as you say, but life doesnt always work out that way!

toothyboy - sounds like they are keeping a good eye on you which is reassuring. i guess i would rather know now if the baby is big, then at least i can be prepared for a c-section if that is what they recommend. dont want to have hours of difficult labour and then be rushed for an emergency c. when i am well and truly knackered.

romilly · 12/01/2006 16:33

btw, when do people usually pack their hospital bag? 35/36/37 weeks? i read that someone had already which freaked me out a bit

gothicmama · 12/01/2006 16:48

36 weeks according to all the books so I guess those due beginning of March it will soon be upon them

UniSarah · 12/01/2006 16:55

I've "heard" of people due in March who already have hospital bag packed, but no one at antenatal class has admitted to it yet. I don't really own enough stuff to tie much of it up in a packed bag for weeks so I'll be leaving it as late as poss and hopefully only doing an emergency bag for if Home birth doesn't work out. Might do a crate of usefull stuff at home, easier to dh get in and out of if I'm busy with labour.
heard a couple of top tips at antenatal class
1- get dh to pack all hospital bags so he knows where things are in the bags.
2- dh might like to take a carrimat along in case he gets to spend the night with no where to stretch out but the floor , this was from someone who had slow drawn out 3 day induction process.

munz · 12/01/2006 16:58

LO's is done - but I keep undoing it!, mine's only half done - need to get toiletryies etc, so far it's just a towel and few pairs of knickers in the bag!

rom - how come u'll be having a section? does that mean u'll be early? how did ur scan go?

Frizbetheexpansionset · 12/01/2006 19:37

I'll echo Munz there Rom, did scan say big then, is section defo??

I have to admit after Teuch dropping I've packed a bag just in case! 34 weeks on Sun for me....although still thinking about home birth, am going to speak to midwife about it on Tues, although had her for aquanatal today and briefly mentioned it afterwards over a cup of tea and she bit my hand off with enthusiasm, yikes so think may well go with that idea! but we said we'd talk more on Tuesday.

Sarah, cool re home birth! think I'm defo coming round

romilly · 12/01/2006 20:09

no friz and munz - the scan is on monday 23rd. but my ob. was doing lots of talking about c-sections to me, i think because of all the trouble i have been having with my b/p too. but its by no means definite yet.

laundrylover · 12/01/2006 22:04

I've been researching pools today with the help of MN and am going to book a hot tub tomorrow from Aquabirth - how exciting a spa in the conservatory for a month!! That way even if I go to hospital we will get some use out of the pool.
Rom - good luck with scan.
Still no bag packed but as my Mum pointed out you can really turn up with nothing and still get by!
Friz - go for the homebirth 'cos you're due before me and you can tell us how it goes.
This week I've had loads of work come my way after twiddling my thumbs and MNing for weeks, typical eh? Now I'll be filling in forms through labour!

spiker · 12/01/2006 22:06

oh rom...it will be bad enough moving house with a tiny baby, but after you've had a caesarian too?

I'm crossing everything for you hoping you don't have to have one.

Jackstini · 12/01/2006 22:45

Crikey - what did I start with my rampant sex comment! Still managing about once a week and spoons rules. As soon as I am up to 38 weeks though it will be twice a day!
Spiker - interesting position - will have to try that out...
Not decided on birth control yet. Was thinking about going back on the pill but took a while to get it out of my system this time and we are planning another one (ha ha - will see how we do with the first!!) Saying that, I would like one more, dh is up for having 4 and me being up the duff again by Christmas - I don't think so!!!!!
Feels really close now you are all talking about packing bags. Mine is half done but not the bumps. I need to wash everything but not until next week - when furniture has arrived so I can put it away!

RosiePosie · 13/01/2006 08:15

Laundrylover - am very jealous of your spa pool - that's what I would have gone for if we had the space, would be bliss with the SPD too. I just really don't fancy faffing around with an inflatable one during labour and worrying about the water going cold, which is the only other alternative - so no pool for me

Frizbe - it's easier to plan a homebirth and then change your mind and go into hospital, than it is to plan a hospital birth and then change your mind and have a homebirth, if you see what I mean! So, plan the homebirth - then all your options are open.

Rom - good luck with the scan and CS decision.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/01/2006 09:12

Thanks RP and LL, I'm going to do that, regardless of dh's wishes, as he had a fit last night when I mentioned it again, after being all for it last week, argh men!!!! I pointed out to him, he might not be here anyway, he just said he wants me in the safest place (probably cause he's lost both his parents and is panicking I'll die in labour or something) so I've reassured him safest place could well be home! and if midwife is at all concerned she'll take me to hosp herself! arghgggggghghghghghghghghghhghgh

Rom, hope you don't need a c, moving with a new baby will be handful enough, but sure you'll cope {{Hugs}}

Jackstini, you could do two that close together, a friend of mine did, but she did warn me against doing it! so I left it a bit later!! said it was too much hard work, didn't sleep for about a year.....

spiker · 13/01/2006 23:41

friz - I was planning a homebirth last time, but had to be rushed in as an emergency (all was fine, thank god, but it certainly didn't get labour off to a relaxing start). DH isn't keen on the idea and I'm fretting that the baby is too big and I'll need a caesarian, so I'm not going to try this time round. No epidurals/spinals though, which might be an issue for you. Have a bag ready just in case!

jackstini - a friend of mine fell pregnant again when her first was 3 months old...she was insane for years! Mine will be just 2 years apart and I reckon that's plenty close. I'm dreading it to be frank. I just can't work out how I can breastfeed whilst keeping DS out of mischief. Particularly if this one turns out be a lingerer at the breast like he was.

Jackstini · 14/01/2006 12:50

Thanks Friz/Spiker - that is backing up my view completely. I think a couple of years apart sounds much better. Still sticking to my 2 kids is enough thought at the moment too although DH is still thinking 4....! Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing weekend

Frizbetheexpansionset · 14/01/2006 17:07

If I were you I'd tell dh the only way he's getting 4 is via triplets next time round

Hope you all have a great weekend girls!

coppertop · 15/01/2006 12:54

After catching up with this thread I had to go over to the Feb one to see what the fanny rivers was all about. PMSL!

Thanks to you lot I've finally started getting things ready. Ds2 keeps looking longingly at the new pram/pushchair. Buying sleepsuits was a bit of a nightmare as in some places the second size looked massive but the first size only went up to 9lbs. Ds2 weighed 9lbs already when he was born at 38wks.....

I had my blood tests but then got a phone call from the nurse to say that one of the samples had disappeared and that the lab had never received it. Grrrr! I had to go back to have more blood taken so am still waiting for the results.

MrsF! Helllooooooooo! No.3 is due on 22nd/23rd March. I haven't 'seen' you around for ages!

romilly · 15/01/2006 19:45

thanks spiker, rosiep, laundrylover and friz. i'll let you know how it goes next week.

went to my first NCT class on saturday (10-4.30) - we did the couples one. anyone else doing these? i am also going to the breastfeeding class on tues. night and then the part II day next week. so hopefully will be an expert by then, lol

i know lots of you girls dont need to as you are not first-timers. munz - how about you, have you done any classes?

munz · 15/01/2006 20:04

no NCT around here rom - nearest is swansea I think - 60 miles away! lol, going to anti natal thou on the 28th 10-12 at the hospital with the community M/W's it's the couples one, not sure if to hope to get one in on the 25th feb or not! lol. let me know how u go wiht the BF one thou - and any pointers I'll need to ask the m/w about. hope u don't ahve to have a section, let us know how u go with the scan.

CT - what a pain about the bloods, blinking hospitals,

jack - up the duff by xmas tell him u can't be having that 2 xmases on the trott with no drinking! lol.

friz/spiker - I still like the idea of a home birth, but DH is dead set againstit - typical! lol. he's after 4 LO's as well, i'd like either 4 or 6, we shall see, but there will be at least 2 years b4 we even start TTC for any future ones! lol.

Does anyone know why they don't look at the personalised chart thingy from the 20 week scan they do? my m/w has never looked at mine prefering the 'standard' one. is it a point I should bring up on thurs?

one of the girls on the bounty site I sometimwes chat on has popped already it's getting so close now! lol. scarey!

Marne · 15/01/2006 20:27

Hi all.

Munz, i did'nt go to any classes first time but i wish i did, this time the midwife has'nt said nothing about them, think they asume you would'nt want to go if you have had kids already.

Was told last week i could'nt have a home birth because of the bleeds i have had, dh was pleased as he was worried about the mess.

munz · 15/01/2006 21:38

marne- how r u after the bleeding on friday? can u see ur m/w this week at all for a once over?

Marne · 16/01/2006 09:40

Hi munz,
All seems fine, no more bleeding or braxton hicks.
Baby is still realy active, will be seeing midwife this week to make sure all is ok.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/01/2006 12:16

Marne that's good news then

Coppertop, grr at more bloods....

Munz, mine's plotted on the chart in the booklet they give you, this includes the hospitals records, they also wrote in same bit??!!

My friend has had her 3rd ds this am at 4.15 apparently, no further gory details yet, but sounds like quick, as another of our friends left her house at 10pm last night and nothing was happening then!!

Also been to lazy exercise class today talking to another buddy who has a dd same age as mine, am now worrying a bit, as her dd has only just started speaking to her again this week, apparently fell out with her mum for 2mths, not speaking and very surly......all over new baby, argh! really hope we don't have same probs.......

munz · 16/01/2006 13:39

friz - i'm sure things will be fine, how old is ur DD? apparently when I was small and DB was jelouse of the attention I was getting mum brought him a little pram and dolly and he pushed it around/fed his dolly when mum was feeding me - she recons it included him with what she was doing?? - anyhow seemed to of helped there's 2.2 years between us and we're v close. fingers crossed - and exercise - what's all this talk of excersice! lol . are there a lot of other mums due with u? I can't wait to stop work and get to my classes so I can meet some local mums - do u find everyone already know's each other thou? 6 weeks for u now eh! where has the time gone girls??

marne - glad things have clamed down, u did have me worried over the w/e.

RosiePosie · 16/01/2006 14:25

I didn't have any problems at all when my dd was born, with DS - he was 2yrs 11 months when dd came along, and he literally ignored her and got on with life for the first 6 months. I think dd will be different though - she'll be 2yrs 3 or 4 months when this one arrives, and I think she will be jealous and upset. She's hard enough work right now as it is though, I don't think she can possibly get any worse!
