Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

I think appointments vary from area to area, I have my first appt with anyone at 9 weeks which will be with my MW for booking in (blood pressure, last period date, family health history etc) from what I can remember the first is just form filling more than anything,

Its then get a scan around 12-14 weeks at the hospital, then back with mw at 16weeks, 20 week scan at hospital, 24 weeks mw and then something like every 4-6 weeks after that.

Our last area was different as we saw the doctor first, then MW.

Hi all. Just a little update from me. Unfortunately the last few days I have been horrifically sick. Started off bit like normal morning sickness but over last few days i'm now being sick about 10 times a day and in between I feel sick constantly. Haven't been able to get out of bed for 3 days and can barely manage a shower. I cannot keep anything down and now i'm at risk of dehydration so I have am emergency doctors appointment tomorrow and might have to go to hospital for a drip to return my fluids to normal. Apparently no risk to the baby it'll just be me that will feel like total utter crap. :-(

Moffit · 01/08/2011 21:07

Hi everyone, I called my surgery on Friday and asked if I needed to see the doctor, of if I get an immediate referal to the midwife. Apparently I need to see the doctor first, so I have an appointment for this Friday (will be 6+6) so will see what he says and take it from there. Hopefully it will make it feel more real, cos at the moment apart from really sore breasts and a little bit of sickness and indigestion, I still dont really believe that its real!

feekerry sorry to hear you have been so sick, hope the doctor gives you the right treatment, keeps you hydrated and you feel better soon! (If I remember right, we are due date buddies - 24th March)

zebedeethezebra · 02/08/2011 09:45

That sounds awful feekerry - hope you feel better soon!

greengoose · 02/08/2011 11:52

Hi all March Mums, I have to confess Ive been skulking around and not posting.... not all that Im superstitious, but I MC'd last Nov and had joined preg. thread and it was horrible signing off.... but hopeful excitement has got the better of me and here I am!!
I am due on 31st... I used one of those digi thingys, and was a bit shocked that it can also tell you how far on you are... so Ive now used three, just to see it go from 1-2 to 3+ ! It feels like some reassurance that hormones must be rising...
Ive got two boys already (8+3)and Im 38, so I feel pretty lucky to have got another chance at it....

Sorry your feeling so sick Feekery, Hopefully it'll pass soon (or maybe your expecting quins??!)

KikiRC · 02/08/2011 13:17

Hello everyone,

I had my first appointment with the midwife today (I'm 7 + 5). I've an existing medical problem which means I'll be under a consultant at the hospital, but everyone I've spoken to seems very reassuring. Today was really just basic form-filling, she took my blood pressure & checked I was OK, gave some dietary advice and will organise my 12 week scan and first appointment with the consultant Obs. I also got some leaflets re: screening tests. Does anyone have any qualms about the HIV test? I did have a boyfriend a few years ago and we weren't using condoms- then afterwards I found out he'd been cheating on me. It's just made me a bit worried, now. Does anyone know how long it takes for those results to come back? Other than him I've always been really careful, and the worst thing was he was just a bit of an idiot anyway, I wish I'd never slept with him at all.

Do you have this test as part of the 12 week thing, does anyone know?

X

Hi, does anyone else have a lower gut ache fairly much permanently?? Its a bit like very mild PP but doesnt go..... Im just so scared this bean isnt sticky..... although my boobs are killing (the one time they are a decent size and DP doesnt get within 10 paces)! and I feel a little bit off food, and I need to pee alot. I need to stop fretting. And googling every little thing. I have two kids to look after, I cant be this all over the place. I will pull it together now!!!!

greengoose · 02/08/2011 20:36

Is it just me or has this thread gone a little quiet........>crawls back into her cave

Carlitawantsababy · 02/08/2011 20:59

Hi greengoose! Welcome and congratulations! I have been very crampy, stopped for a few days but is back again on and off, was constant between 4 weeks and 5+2, it's a good sign so I'm trying to embrace it!
KikiRC yes, totally nervous about the HIV test, I'm sure loads of people are, I'm planning to stay positive and to focus on how nice it will be to know it's all clear! It was interesting to read about your midwife appointment, I got a letter through for mine, just after the scan letter, it's in about 2 weeks time!
moffit all I have is cramps and sore boobs, not the slightest bit of nausea or anything so agreed it'll be lovely to confirm there's actually a baby in there!
feekerry sorry you've been feeling so ill, wishing you better soon!
world I see, thanks for explaining, I feel pretty clueless about everything!
In other news I have bought lots of fabric to make baby things and bought a Tripp trapp highchair off eBay today! Had to...bargain! Grin

Thanks, Carlita. Fingers crossed for all of us! I think I may have had the midwife appointment a bit earlier than normal just because of my medical history. Which isn't really a big concern, but they'll want to keep an eye on me. Unfortunately, I didn't see the actual midwife as she was on holiday, but someone else covering and with a student in with her, which was fine- but it would have been nice to meet the normal midwife, as I'll have to go over everything with her again.

I had the tiniest hint of brown spotting yesterday- not even spotting, really- just a tiny streak in my discharge. They weren't too worried at the surgery, but have given me the number of the EPU at my local hospital if there is more, or if I want to speak to anyone. It's knocked my confidence a bit. I've been working so hard recently- did a nine and a half hour day yesterday with about 10 mins for lunch, and I'm pretty wiped out. Trouble is because I'm freelance it's very difficult to take time 'off' during busy spells. Very tempted to give myself a few days off now though.. I can feel myself getting anxious.

Carlitawantsababy · 02/08/2011 22:40

kikiRC It's so hard to slow down, I'm really having to force myself at the moment, I guess I'm having to realign myself and my new priorities! Getting into it now, having been saying no to people And scheduling in days to work from home to make sure I get more time to relax. It must be super hard when you're freelancing. I hope everything is okay for you and you don't get anymore streaks, it's good that the GP didn't seem concerned.

OP posts:
Moffit · 03/08/2011 07:34

greengoose I could have written your post I have a dull ache low down in my tummy and also in my lower back, feels like period pains and is pretty much there all of the time and has been for the last two weeks, but with no spotting and no cramping I was hoping this was a 'normal' sign. I have an appintment with my GP on Friday, so will mention it then.

greengoose · 03/08/2011 08:37

Moffit, I have read since on the due in Feb thread (seeing what we are in for)! that the aches are v. common, so Im sure its OK, but let me know what your doc says!

I have started off this morning with a Doubledecker. This is not good. I dont even really like chocolate. I must not do this again, or they wont be able to get through my tummy to scan me at 12weeks!!

KikiRC · 03/08/2011 09:31

Thanks, Carlita- I'm working from home today, so a bit more relaxed.

Greengoose & Moffit, I've had these dull aches and mentioned it to the midwife yesterday who said that was completely normal, so I wouldn't worry. I think it's a combination of your uterus growing, ligaments stretching and if you're anything like me, a bit of wind mixed in!

X

KikiRC · 03/08/2011 11:07

Having said I'm more relaxed, I'm now feeling terribly sick and virtually unable to do anything... Hope this is just temporary.

Carlitawantsababy · 03/08/2011 11:07

KikiRC this morning I have had exactly what you had yesterday, the tiniest streaks of brown in my discharge, the fact that yours didn't sound worrying to me has made me feel much more calm about it so thank you! I'm going to take things really easy and relax for the next few days (can't hurt?) in fact, I'm just walking in to work now, no stress, no rushing around (for once) your description of it knocking your confidence is a good one, just having a few worried thoughts but trying to stay positive over all, I want to enjoy my pregnancy; I'm so so happy about it and I don't want to end up worrying and moaning all the time! I know how lucky I am to be pregnant and promise to remember this every day! Grin

greengoose · 03/08/2011 14:35

kikirc and carla, if it helps any I had streaks with both my two boys (now 8 and 3)! and obviously it was fine. Each time it happened they asked if I wanted scanned, and I got quite a few extra early scans this way.... Last year I had a MMC and the bleeding was a different thing altogether, and I 'just knew'. I know its diff for everyone, but I always seem to leak a bit early on, and usually its absolutely fine. We are all playing the odds just now arent we, with it being so early....
Its great having somewhere I can say Im pregnant.... I Know my MIL found a peestick in my bedside table when she visited, (she rakes), but I denied it stubbornly, and she couldnt push it without admitting to having a hunt through my drawers.... ha! Im going to hold out and tell her at 12wks...

Carlitawantsababy · 03/08/2011 15:34

greengoose it helps loads, thank you! I'm feeling totally relaxed about it now as has amounted to nothing more, I can see tiny (mouse hair sized, sorry, can't think of another way to describe it) streaks of brown when I wipe but none in knickers (sorry TMI Blush) so can't be anything serious Smile phew! It's amazing how quickly you fall in love with the tiny things isn't it? Goodness knows what I'll be like once I can feel him! Grin thank you so much for sharing and sorry to hear about your mc. OMG your MIL!?! Unbelievable behaviour! What's she rifling for?! Angry

greengoose · 03/08/2011 15:47

carla My MIL is quite off the planet, a few years after I got together with DP I got rid of any diaries/ letters etc because I just dont trust her not to read personal stuff. We've kind of got used to it, but its nice to hear confirmation that she is indeed crazy. Wink

Glad you are feeling a bit calmer. Make sure you are having enough rest!

casperella · 03/08/2011 15:59

Hello folks, I've been lurking for a wee while but finally decided to join once I felt this was a real pregnancy as it was a bit of a surprise Shock for DH and me! Am now 8+5, due date is 10 March. This is my 3rd so I kind of know what to expect, although I admit I had forgotten how crap I feel for these early weeks.

Saw MW on Monday, and for some reason they now split the "booking in" visit over 2 appointments, so I've to go back in 2 weeks' time... so Monday was a bit of form-filling waste of time, didn't even get my blood pressure checked or bloods done!!

Also feel like I am busting out of most of my clothes, so eagerly awaiting being able to tell people in a few weeks' time.

Hope all is well with everyone today! Smile

greengoose · 03/08/2011 18:46

Welcome casperella!! Draw up a comfy chair and have a decaf Brew!!! Im on my third too.... Im slightly worried that I had forgotten how grotty this first bit is... perhaps my 'want-to-make-babies-hormones' have also cast a fog over the joys to come..... childbirth..... the first year.....
Im sure itll be a breeze!
An unexpected bonus for me is I had signed up with some (really really fit) friends to do a sponsored sea swim for a mile, and now I cant really do it. Oh well. Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 03/08/2011 19:58

Welcome casperella! I'm glad you decided to join us! What a lovely surprise for you and DH Grin

Babybrain ? still have everything crossed for you. Hope everything is ok and you?ve had a good holiday?
Carlitawantsababy ? app still not updated, but am working from home today, so managed to get on the web version!
GreenGoose ? I can?t believe your MIL! Grr! Not sure I?d put up with anyone in my family rifling through my draws! IYKWIM!
Casperella ? welcome Smile

I gave in my form for the midwife via the Drs on Monday and haven?t had a call yet. Bit worried that I?m not yet in the system and I?m 8 weeks tomorrow?so I might call the MW later today just to check. Am I being over-anxious? Confused

The nausea continues for me (though obviously not as severe as Feekery), but very early this morning, I was actually sick (for the first time) ? luckily I?d had an early dinner so had nothing to bring up, but the awful wrung stomach feeling is not good. Bleugh. I didn't realise the first few months of pregnancy would be quite this grotty.

In other news - had to buy myself some new bras - some to sleep in and some day ones. I can thoroughly recommend mothercare, they fitted me, gave me some really good advice and were very good about ordering in another bra in my size. Top marks all round! Whilst I was there, I also glanced at the 'travel systems' and promptly scurried off, amazed by the price and complexity of the darn things! Blush

greengoose · 04/08/2011 12:39

Hi all. Think Im prob going to have to say goodbye soon. Started to bleed a bit, and when I tested with CBD its gone down from 3+ to 2-3, so doesnt look good for me. My boobs are alot less full today too.... Keep your everythings crossed for me though!
