Brewing a March baby!

Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

I'm another one who always has to wee at 5am. It was irritating me, but now I realise I should be grateful it's only once!

Anyone feel like they're 'blooming' yet? My nausea has abated but I am still so tired I can think straight. At 15 weeks tomorrow, I was naively hoping it would have gone by now. I'm sick if listening to myself complain about it!

Stogan · 19/09/2011 20:59

Oh god totally understand notfromconcentrate I have been signed off work for 2 weeks as I'm so exhausted I mean I literally get to 2pm and can't keep my eyes open and my sickness is really bad too. Am also craving tomato soup like it's going out of fashion !!!

Is anyone else craving anything, I didn't think cravings came till later but I literally want tomato soup like ALL the time !!!! Weird !!! XGrin

NotFromConcentrate · 19/09/2011 21:22

Stogan I've been craving pickles and vinegary things - crazy, isn't it?

I thought about taking some time off, what with being utterly exhausted and with my PGP playing up, but my ccompany won't pay me. Rant alert - they'll pay me handsomely to do my job, and even give me a shiny new car and private healthcare etc, but not a penny of sick pay or maternity pay. I am already steeling myself for the "poor baby" comments when I have to go back to work after 6 weeks because I'll be paid a tiny fraction of my salary :( Rant over Blush On the up side, I have an interview on Friday. I just have to shrink myself in a hot wash so I can squeeze into one of my work suits Grin They do know I'm pregnant, so fingers crossed.

NotFromConcentrate · 19/09/2011 21:25

God, I've jut read back and realised what a whinging old bag I am tonight... Sorry!!

Stogan · 20/09/2011 07:54

Hey I've also been craving the pickles too, Mmmmm smelling good ha ha !!

I'm already stressing about how I will cope with money when baby is here. Hubby always says he will look after us but don't think he realises how many direct debits actually leave my account each month and he is very good at talking about things but doing is very different !!!

Sorry it's early to rant but I have a terrible headache this morning and just want to go to bed but the cleaner u's coming so I need to make myself scarce !! Costa is calling !!! Hope everyone has a good day x

KikiRC · 20/09/2011 12:07

Hello ladies,

I'm with you on the night wees, and the pickles!

Moffit, I've been told 22nd March, too- though I think they meant 23rd.
(Due date by LMP was 16 March, which made me 12+6 at my first scan, but when they took the measurements they put me back a week, at 11+6, and said due date was 22nd- though my slow maths brain tells me that if it all shifted by a week, it should be 23rd?)

How's everyone's nausea/ sickness going? Going, going gone, I hope. Mine has definitely improved a lot. I'm feeling tired too though, Not From C. I do put a lot of this down to an extremely busy work schedule though, which will hopefully start winding down a bit soon. Hope stuff works out with your job, Stogan. Being self-employed, I'm the same- don't get paid if I take time off.

Saw the Consultant Obs yesterday just to run through past medical history as there a few things they want to keep an eye on. That all seems fine, so reassuring.

Really need to sort out the trouser situation- mine are all far too tight now. Had an unhelpful conversation with my Mum- she suggested elasticated skirts & tracksuit bottoms! I think when she was pregnant they just wore everything in bigger sizes until they ended up in tents! X

NotFromConcentrate · 20/09/2011 15:24

Kiki the clothing thing is a nightmare! Maybe you should try some nice denim dingarees, or a pinafore Wink During my last pregnancy, I bought a maternity skirt suit from Next. Never again! I looked like a bag of washing in it regardless of how pregnant I was! This time I'm living in dresses, and trousers with smart tops. Think will try to squeeze into a suit for my interview tomorrow though! If anyone sees a button flying through the sky at the speed of light tomorrow, you'll know where it came from Grin

Stogan · 20/09/2011 15:39

Ha ha notfromc good luck with the interview, I'll be sure to look out for low flying buttons ??x

KikiRC · 20/09/2011 15:46

NotFromC- I'm hoping to head into London at some point soon and hit the shops! My little town has about three items of maternity clothing in it, and they're all hideous. I'm hoping a pair of maternity jeans and a bump band should keep me going for a while. Oh, and if anyone sees any cheap (i.e. not £8 a pair) maternity tights do let me know (the only ones I could find in New Look were shocking pink!) Luckily 'cos I'm freelance I can work from home a lot, and no need for suits or anything... I'm determined to try to wear maternity clothes that are more or less the same kind of thing I would the rest of the time. Maybe totally unrealistic, but I'll give it a good go!

Tomorrow I'll be sure to wear a shield in case of flying buttons!

feekerry · 20/09/2011 18:39

how about primark for that inbetween stage? just went at weekend spent 36 quid and got loads of stretchy clothes- so not maternity, just stretchy. even if i only wear them for a couple of months at that price its not a problem. i too cannot wear jeans anymore!

feekerry · 20/09/2011 18:42

forgot to add, they had black stretchy leggings for 2.50, loads of colours too

ZhenXiang · 20/09/2011 22:17

Who mentioned pickles?! mmm now I want some :)

Morning sickness all but gone unless I drink cold milk or eat plantain which brings a violent reaction.

NotfromC Grin

Kiki I have bought some trousers from New Look, but also have picked up some stuff in HM and in second hand shops (Mothercare maternity wear at knock down prices and in good knick). Last time I did what feekerry has done and bought primark tops in a couple sizes up plus leggings a few sizes too big to supplement maternity wear which lasted me up until 7.5 months.

Maternity tights 2 pack for £10 here.

Had 16 week appt today, didn't check heartbeat just blood pressure etc... Don't have to see midwife again until 34 weeks for the VBAC clinic, just GP appts for me which is much more convenient.

17+1 today :)

KikiRC · 20/09/2011 22:36

Ah, thanks for the tights tip off, Zhen. I think once I have a pair of jeans and a few pairs of tights, I'll be fine- most of my tops and looser dresses will fit for the next few months at least, I'm sure.

I meant to say to those of you weeing in the night- I was given advice a while ago when I used to get cystitis a lot, that when you go for a wee you should stay there for a minute or two and then try again... I've found that over the last few weeks if I have another go 5 minutes later there's loads more- even when I feel like I don't need to go- I think the bladder is fooled into thinking it's empty, just because it's a bit squashed. So it might be worth trying that before bedtime, or if you have to get up in the night.

On that note- goodnight all! X

knitterati · 21/09/2011 06:15

Hey all, sorry I've been quiet on here for a while. All is well - I'm getting a little bump/flump now! But my low cut jeans are now getting too big for me?!? Think the jeans have stretched and I'm changing shape. All very odd! Need to get a bump band I think.

I'm in the 4/5am early morning pee club then can't get back to sleep Angry

Amusing story: DH and I are staying in London this week with work and he took me to a nice restaurant. Only blinking sat next to Robert Downey Jnr!! There's me looking blooming fat sat next to a Hollywood heartthrob! Blush

Anyhow - happy Thursday all!

Carlitawantsababy · 21/09/2011 08:16

Hi all! Glad you all thought that wad a big hint! Feels so boyish I'll be shocked if it's a girl (though have no preference whatsoever with it being my first and all)!
feekerry I'm up 1-2 times in the night, that's tiring enough! I cannot not drink either as still have the extreme thirst thing so have to drink at least half a glass every time I wake!
moffit congratulations on your scan! Does anyone have any scan pics to post? Would love to see them!
jozambia I've not been around much lately as lost my iPhone which was my main access to mumsnet! Got a new phone yesterday though so am back to normal!
notfromconcentrate I suppose I do feel like I'm 'blooming' yes! Not exactly sure what that entails but I'm absolutely loving being pregnant and seeing the bump grow, feel like I want a million babies and people at work tell me I'm 'glowing', does that count as 'blooming'?! I haven't had anything that I'd consider to be cravings yet (just desires!) love that you and stogan want pickles, it's a classic! Good luck with the interview today!
Kiki I'm due on the 23rd and am 13 + 5 today, does that help? On the clothing front, I have now boxed up all my non maternity clothes (we'll be moving in a few months so non just being really anal organised) as anything that fits is not very flattering! Smile were the pink new look tights cheap?! Shocking pink may not have been my first choice but i could try to make it work! I've been looking for a bright coloured pair for less than £8! I'd love some stripy ones but it seems they do not exist even if you have money to burn.
zhen thanks for the tip on the 2 pack, I shall be getting those too!
Wow knitterati! it must've been a nice restaurant! Where did you go? Glad you're okay and thanks for giving me a giggle this morning, it's Wednesday! Grin

notfromC Good luck with the interview! Carlita great to have you back!
Was watching Little Britain last night and realised that in a couple of months I am going to look like sodding Bubbles DeVere, of course DP thought this is hilarious and is now calling me Bubbles, how depressing! Our landlady came round last night and her first words "Aren't you getting big!" I am living in my nighties/PJs at the moment as most of my normal clothes get too uncomfortable after a couple of hours, not much choice in maternity wear here. Am also shattered all the time and I dont even work!
Got another Obs appointment tomorrow am really hoping we can get another look at nugget because despite being huge, nipples the size of saucers, extreme tiredness, bouts of nausea, all night peeing, bloody noses and not fancying much to eat I dont feel at all pregnant!

Carlitawantsababy · 21/09/2011 10:28

Grin hahaha jozambia! you sound pretty pregnant! If there's any maternity stuff you want from the uk I'm happy for you to order it to my house and I'll post it to you? Or maybe you have family here do you? So is it your partner that takes you to Zambia?

Stogan · 21/09/2011 12:12

Got a 15 week scan with my consultant in epsom in 2 hours to check baby all ok after my treatment aaarrrggghhh nervous is not the word , this is where he signs me off and tells me we have a normal pregnancy from now on (hopefully)!!!??

KikiRC · 21/09/2011 12:17

Hello all,

It is exciting about the scan and possible boy, Carlita, just makes it all a bit more real, I bet. I don't mind which we have either, but have had a sense it's a girl (of course that doesn't mean anything much.) DP has a wonderful son aged 7, and I think it would be nice for us all to have a girl in a way, just so it felt 'different', but at the end of the day we'll all be happy. I've already told DP if it's a boy, he'll have to teach him how to wee, 'cos I've no idea!!

Still slobbing around in PJs today working from home, which means I don't have to worry about clothes and bloated tummies at all. Heaven.

The shocking pink maternity tights in New Look were about £5, I think- I was half tempted myself. As they're the only maternity tights I've seen anywhere in this town I thought it was quite funny that all the local pregnant ladies might be marked out by their pink pins! X

KikiRC · 21/09/2011 12:18

Ooh, good luck Stogan !! X

NotFromConcentrate · 21/09/2011 12:20

Afternoon all! Good luck for this afternoon, Stogan

Interview went well - thanks for all the good wishes! I ended up wearing maternity trousers with a jacket from another suit which was almost identical, because I couldn't get my trousers fastened! Will hear in the morning if I'm through to the next stage, so fingers crossed Grin

I felt definite baby wiggles in the car this morning, t'was lovely. Ive had some random flutters but this was a proper-baby-not-wind wiggle. Have only just realised that it's 12.20pm and i haven't yet wondered if it's bedtime....things are looking up, ladies!

Stogan · 21/09/2011 12:44

Thanks Kiki and NFC , will keep everything crossed for u for the interview outcome x

Carlitawantsababy · 21/09/2011 13:55

notfromconcentrate how many weeks are you? So excited about feeling the baby move!
Kiki thanks, watch out all for bright pink pins in north London, it may be me!
Good luck stogan hope all goes well!

NotFromConcentrate · 21/09/2011 15:28

Carlita I'm 15+2 (although this is No. 3 so not sure if that makes a difference?) Not kicks, just definite wriggles.

The wheels have all come off a bit this afternoon, think I'm going to be made redundant. This is Not Good.

feekerry · 21/09/2011 17:20

oh my god NotFromConcentrate what will happen then? Will you cope okay??????xx

i might attempt later to post my scan pics on here, if i can. not sure if you can post pics on mn. haven't seen any photos on here at all actually so maybe not.
i keep thinking i'm getting a bump as my tummy is huge by night time, but by the morning its gone and i have a flat tummy again so its obv just bloat!!! although, my lower tummy has gone pretty hard now so hoping it'll pop any day. i'm now 14 + 4 and the other night i had some poppy/bubbly feelings but i'm not sure if i was feeling the baby or not. my pregnancy book says you may start to feel flutters from 14 weeks on but its so hard to tell, as its my first i have no idea what i'm looking out for. anyone else had any flutterings??? or a proper bump that doesnt go over night????!!!
