Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

Our little bundle is not so little anymore om actually now 13w+5 it was unreal like a real person it's was waving it's hands and fingers and has big feet and a tummy like it's daddy !!! It wA upside down tho which was weird but the sobigrapher just said it was funny and baby was showing off (again like daddy) !!!

So emotional and yesterday was just filled with passing on our news to the world!
Back seeing Dr s in London in 2 weeks and then will be treated as a normal pregnancy if he signs me off which is scary but of course he got me this far !!!
Good luck to all with scans this week, u will love it !!! Xxxxx?

JoZambia · 08/09/2011 10:04

Fabulous news kiki and Stogan was worth the wait! I am also due on the 10th and means you are also in the second trimester now Stogan (thanks zhen). That sounds really weird as I am still thinking of myself as newly pregnant and am amazed there are April and May threads already.

Stogan · 08/09/2011 13:46

Carlita! That's great news! Pleased we'll be sharing the date!

Mind you, I'll be amazed if all our babies arrive on their predicted dates Smile Think Mother Nature has other ideas!

Hi all. Glad to report scan went well. Baby moving around loads kicking and all sorts! One thing thats worrying me a bit was the nuchal fold measurements. They came out at about 2.4mm which seems high compared to others i've seen. I asked sonographer if it was normal and she didn't say much other than its a 2 part test as they take bloods too so she cant say. Do you mind me asking what your measurements were?

ZhenXiang · 09/09/2011 15:55

Hi Feekery - nice to hear baby is doing well. My baby's NT measurement was 1.8mm at 12+4 weeks, but although I can't remember the exact measurement I think that I remember my DD's one being 2.something at 12 weeks last time around and she was fine.

Don't panic, the measurement is linked to gestational age in weeks and crown-rump length, the average from what I have read for 12 weeks is 2.18mm up to 2.8mm by 13 weeks and six days. As far as I remember you are between 12-13 weeks now so 2.4mm is probably average. I think over 2.5mm is more of a risk, but apparently 9/10 children with NT between 2.5 and 3.5 mm do not have downs.

Hey ladies ? being plagued with prickly heat here, I guess my body temp is warmer than normal to begin with! Hopefully it will start to get cooler here soon, 32C today.
In my experience it´s a myth that MS only lasts for the first 3 months! I was sick all the way through with my DD even in the middle of the night. Not with DS though.
Stogan ? yay! So glad it was a great experience for you.
Knitterati ? glad the scan went well and that you had such a good sonographer, makes all the difference.

KikiRC ? great that it all went well for you too.
Feekerry ? Great to hear you had a good scan too. As I understand it anything under 2.5mm is normal, hope you get good blood results soon to put your mind at rest.
Broodylicious & Moffit ? good luck for your scans next week.
Jozambia & Zhen ? glad to hear that you are starting to feel better.
Carlita ? I have two friends also due in March here which is nice as when I was pg with DD I didn´t know anyone else who was!

Goodbye Morning sickness, Hello Indigestion and Heartburn!!!

feekerry · 09/09/2011 20:11

Thank you everyone. I feel much better now- have given myself a pep talk. Its my own fault for doing too much internet research! If I hadn't been so nosy then I wouldn't have thought twice about the measurement today as the sonographer gave no indication of any problem. They've moved my dates forward this time so now 12 weeks and 5 days and due on the 19th of march. What a farce this dating is! So anyway feeling much better about it and scan was amazing. X

casperella · 11/09/2011 13:41

OK, so was wondering how many of you are planning to find out (or try to find out) your baby's gender before the birth? This is our 3rd (already have 2 DS) and DH is putting the pressure on as he wants to know this time.

Last 2 times we were both agreed we def didn't want to know in advance... this time around DH wants to know and I am swithering!

Arguments for - 1. it will help a bit with practicalities to know (I'm not convinced, all our newborn stuff is neutral, and MIL etc will go nuts buying pink if it's a girl so we wouldn't be stuck); 2. be easier to tell DS1 and DS2 if we know the sex, eg "you're getting a little baby brother"; 3. cost not prohibitive, £75 for a "gender only" scan in our area.

Arguments against - 1. fast forwards the huge surprise of finding out, will I be disappointed not to get the surprise once I've given birth? 2. means we will end up telling everyone, and will drag out those conversations over names (have already had someone tell us they "hate" our favourite choice of boy name!).

Argh - help!

KikiRC · 11/09/2011 15:01

I think we're going to find out the sex of the baby, Casperella, because we're curious as much as anything. I'd just like to know. But like you, we certainly won't be going out buying pink or blue. My DP has a son, and I think it would be nice for him to know, too, might make it feel a bit more 'real' for him.

NorthernGirlie · 11/09/2011 15:39

Hi Ladies

Congrats on all the briliant scan news - it's comforting isn't it??

I'm just jumping ahead a bit and wondering if anyone's on baby number 2 (or more) and knows what happens at the 20 week scan?? When we had our nuchal scan the other week (I'm 14+3 now) the sonographer said that next time (20 weeks) they'd see me for ten / fifteen mins before inviting Dad in for the scan - anyone know why this is / what they do?? Others getting scans whilst we were there for ours did this too - stopped Dads going in then shouted for them a while later - and I'm just curious!?

NGx

ZhenXiang · 11/09/2011 16:01

NG when I had DD they checked all the organs, placenta etc... and told me her sex as we requested it, DH was with me in the room the whole time.

We will be finding out as there is only one boy in DH's large family, so we would have to think about clothes if by slim chance this baby is not another girl. It will also save choosing names for both sexes. I am hoping that it will also help DD bond with the baby further before it comes.

feekerry · 11/09/2011 16:07

Ye we are both very pro finding out the sex at next scan. Just thinks it makes our lives easier knowing.

MrsMcJnr · 11/09/2011 16:47

Hey girls, I really don´t want to find out this time (this is our 3rd) as DH says that it is defo our last (would have liked 4 myself) We didn´t find out with DS and I remember being so incredibly excited that we had a son, it made the moment of meeting him even more exciting. With DD we did find out as we were trying it the Spanish way. It was equally as excitring waiting for a little girl so I think both ways were equally exciting! DH wants to know this time as we are struggling with names for both sexes and it would make things easier (he thinks) Mind you it will be a miracle if we get through a pregnancy here without someone slipping up and telling us..

Most of my newborn stuff is white but if this baby is a girl we will have to go shopping soon after as DD was born in June here and it was very hot already so she didn´t wear much when she was tiny! DS was a Jan baby so I probably would be covered clothes wise if this baby is a boy...

Re 20 week scan. It is very thorough and they check all the baby´s organs etc and someone has already said. Can´t think why a Dad would be excluded though. Sorry!

Good luck to all those with scans this week.

ZhenXiang · 11/09/2011 21:10

Hey, have you lot seen this was on another thread, made me Grin

knitterati · 12/09/2011 06:57

Zhen that made me laugh! Thanks for sharing!

broodylicious · 12/09/2011 09:17

Morning ladies!!
Well, its finally here and today is scan day - so nervous but equally excited. Just want to know everything is ok with baby...and that she's really in there!! On the water now in prep. Not sure how much I'll be able to guzzle down as I'm not normally a big drinker but I know I've got to do it or chances of seeing our little peach is reduced.

Anyone else got their scans today?

I'm going to ask about the 20 week scan and not having OH in for a bit of it - may even kick off at that haha!! Well, I've been so well behaved and not at all hormonal so far so may as well fake it Grin

Will report back later if all is well. Wish us luck Smile
