Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

So sorry to hear your sad news eaglewings and shortlady, hope you are both taking good care of yourselves!

Hope all of the rest of you ladies are doing well. When did you start wearing maternity clothes? I am 11+3 today and I struggled to do up my biggest pair of trousers this morning, but not sure if I am big enough for proper maternity clothes yet. I am getting fed up of being uncomfortable, and am looking forward to next week, when I have my scan, also have the week off and am hoping that I might take a shooping trip to start getting a few maternity clothes.

Carlitawantsababy · 06/09/2011 09:22

I'm so so sorry to hear that shortlady take care and i wish you the best of luck for the future

moffit I'm 11+4 today and wearing maternity stuff! New look do a range of jeans (all cuts) which are super elasticated at the tops so not big at all, very comfy (don't know why we don't always wear elasticated waists!) and have plenty of stretch in them. They were very cheap (£15-18) and so worth it! I can fit in my biggest pair of jeans still but it just isn't comfy! Grin

Moffit · 06/09/2011 09:48

Thanks Carlita I will take a look next week. I'm with you on the elasticated waist front, they would be so much more comfy, I think that M&S have trousers with elastic waists, might have a look there too! I think its tricky at the moment, cos I am still trying to hide it, but the week after my scan when I go back to work and tell my boss it wont matter as much!

feekerry · 06/09/2011 14:26

so sorry to hear that shortlady :(
moffit and carlita i was just going to ask about maternity stuff as well so well done for bringing it up!

i am now starting to resemble a beached whale. i'm so bloated its unreal, my stomach is huge. i hope it goes before i get my proper bump and hope my bump just doesnt grow on top of my bloated stomach!!!! Blush
as i'm still off work i'm living in comfy pj's so getting by so far but really not overly comfortable at times. might have to take the plunge as well and get some maternity stuff. question- (as i know nothing about pregnancy!) when looking at maternity clothes do i buy the size i was pre pregnancy or do i buy the size i feel like i am iyswim?
so for example, i'm normally a size 8 so if i were to buy size 8 maternity clothes would they allow for my bloatedness and eventual bump or do i buy say a size 12 maternity clothes?? i'm confused Confused
xxx

ZhenXiang · 06/09/2011 16:39

Hi feekerry when I bought maternity clothes last time around I just got them in the size I was before I got pregnant and I was fine right up until the end even though I was very bloated at points.

I did go into a New Look that stocked maternity wear and try it on first though. If you can't do that and want to order online you could always order one size 8 trousers and another size 10 and send the one that doesn't fit back.

Have you tried peppermint tea/peppermint oil capsules for the bloating? If the bloating is because you are not regular you could try prunes or prune juice and also raw spinach worked wonders for me when really constipated with my last pregnancy (tmi sorry :) ).

Stogan · 06/09/2011 17:45

Hey ladies I am like a whale and only 13 weeks been wearing maternity clothes for 2 weeks now but assume alot of it is bloat, if not I must be having an elephant !!!?
New look and next do a fab maternity range although new look is way cheaper but next are a great fit for ur own size pre pregnancy whereas in new look I've had to go a size bigger. Hope this helps

Off for my official dating scan tomorrow ( already had 4 scans so no idea why I'm so nervous) wish me luck , love to all xx??

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2011 18:37

Hey ladies  Happy lady here tonight, saw a wonderfully active healthy baby this afternoon. Measuring at 11 weeks as expected and too early for them to get a decent NF measurement so I get to see my Boogie Beebee again in 2 weeks. Now that I have seen it, I think the baby is a girl. The dr said she knew but I asked not to be told, we´d really like a surprise
How are the rest of you today?

ZhenXiang · 06/09/2011 18:58

Hello MrsMc - that is good news and another viewing in 2 weeks, you must be :) Suprised the doc could tell already, I really want to know whether I am having another girl or a boy. Gotta wait till the 4th of October for next scan now.

Stogan · 06/09/2011 19:06

Aw mrsmc that's fab news Congrats again hunni. I've got my dating scan in the morning and I'm bloody terrified ?x

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2011 21:14

Stogan - hon all will be fine, enjoy!!

Zhen - with DD they told me at 13+5, that was a private dr with really great equipment though.

Dr and MW were laughing at how full my bladder was they were saying things like how can you walk - appointment did run 50 mins late and I was bursting!

KikiRC · 06/09/2011 21:29

I have my first scan tomorrow morning, too Stogan. Good luck!

knitterati · 06/09/2011 21:42

Good luck Kiki & stogan - I have mine tomorrow too! Grin

Stogan · 07/09/2011 07:17

Good luck Kiki and kniterati, I feel so sick my stomach is churning !! Only 2 hours to wait aaarrrggghhh !!! ??x

Moffit · 07/09/2011 12:00

Morning Ladies, good luck to kiki knitterati and stogan! Hope all goes well with your scans today, be sure to come back later and let us know how they went and if your due dates stayed the same! I only have 6 days to wait for mine now and I'm bursting with excitement and nerves.......

knitterati · 07/09/2011 12:41

Had my scan! Happy to report that I do actually have a baby and not some weird tropical disease that has been doing crazy things to my body for the past few weeks! My dates have changed and now due 23rd March, so not as far along as I thought I was, which explains why I'm still suffering from MS.

The baby waved for the camera and was wiggling about for a bit and saw its little heartbeat pounding away. So emotional. just beautiful.

The sonographer made a typo on the nuchal measurement and put it as 9.0mm!! They've tried to correct it to 0.09mm (which is what it was when the sonographer said it was a good nuchal reading), but I'm worried that someone won't see the amendment and call me back in.

Nevermind! I'm just elated to have seen my little sea monkey. Absolutely amazing and so special. DH had a good view as the sonographer when straight in to get measurements quickly whilst baby was in a good position and she was brilliant at explaining what everything was and what DH was looking at. It's one of those moments that I'll never forget and also makes me proud to be a taxpayer contributing to our much maligned NHS.

Also wandered past a lady on her way into the labour ward having a contraction...I've never seen it in real life (only on One Born Every Minute), so it was a bit of an eye-opener!

feekerry · 07/09/2011 13:25

ooh how exciting knitterati and mrs- congrats! did it look like a baby at all? did it have fully formed arms and legs?

good luck to kiki and stogan looking forward to your reports!

thank you zhen for that info. i've had a good look and the next stuff is nice and quite flexible but i think its quite expensive. for the amount of use you'd get out of it. plus as we'll all be preggers in the grip of winter i dont really know what to go for. oh decisions decisions.

broodylicious · 07/09/2011 13:56

Oooh I'm so excited reading about your scan results :) :) :) I have mine on Monday morning and cannot wait! I just want to see that everything is ok and normal and finally tell everyone (only my sister and two of my closest friends know at the moment).

I was under the impression that MS stopped in my 12th week. Not in my case unfortunately :(

knitterati · 07/09/2011 14:16

Feekery yes it did very much look like a real baby! We could make out arms and legs and fingers - we could even see the heart beating! The sonographer even pointed out its stomach and brains on the cross-section view.

broody Do you know your dates are right? I'm still having MS and I thought I was 12+6 today, but I'm actually 11+4, so I've still got a little while under the cloud of MS. I've heard that for most it eases up come the second trimester, but for some unlucky ladies that it can last the entire pregnancy. Shock. I just hope I'm not in that unlucky few because I've really had enough of feeling so rough every morning!

JoZambia · 07/09/2011 15:12

So glad to hear you had great news at the scans MrsMcJnr and knitterati it makes it all feel very real doesnt it?
Looking forward to hearing about Kiki and Stogan

On the MS front I have had it right from the start then on Sunday it really reduced when I was bang on 13 weeks. I still get the odd wave of nausea but nothing like what it was. I think 2nd Trimester starts at the beginning of week 14, 3 more days to go!

KikiRC · 07/09/2011 21:29

Hello all,

There's a real baby in me, too! Can't quite believe it. Me & DP both had a little cry. Funnily enough, knitterati my due date has also been pushed back to 22nd March (from 16th) so I'm almost a week behind where I thought I was. My little one also had it's hands up all the time, and we got a few different views. It's great to have the photo, but it's nothing compared to seeing actually it move about.

Glad to hear yours went well knitterati, hope yours did too, Stogan. X

ZhenXiang · 07/09/2011 21:56

Great news about the scans knitterati and kiki :)

JoZ - if you are 13 weeks you are already in the second trimester congrats!

My MS didn't really start to reduce until 14 weeks and now seems to have stopped altogether at 15+3, so hopefully all you sufferers should be done with it soon.

My SIL and niece both had it for their entire pregnancies so x-fingers for everyone that you are not one of those poor ladies that do.

Last time round MS came back for me in the last few weeks of pregnancy as DD was so big (8lb's and I am only 5 foot tall) she squashed my stomach and I had terrible heartburn too.
