Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

Lovley reading this thread.. i'm on my 12th Week and its all feeling much better now.. my sickness is going and i can see the energy level increasing which is amazing.. this morning i woke up and looked at my tummy, i noticed my bump had started to develope.. i thinks its time for leggins.. and possibly a trip to the shops to get some new clothes.. been told Topshop and H&M are good. The psat 12 weeks have seem to gone on forever, it was lovely to get the Scane last week as up until then i felt like nobody.. as in the Midwives or Dr's wanted to know!! But i have a sense that things will go a lot quicker now!! My baby is due on the 10th March, its so lovely to see other mums who are due the same date and to hear so many other people who are just as excited as me!!

Moffit · 25/08/2011 11:40

Carlita I'm glad you have said that you are already getting a bump at 9+6, I'm a day behind you and I am really struggling with clothes. I think it might be because a lot of my clothes are quite fitted, so now I am trying to go for more of my baggy items or layering in the hope it will disguise it! I will definately need to go shopping before too long.

Also I agree with Arthur about the midwives not being interested, I am getting frustrated again by not hearing anything, I have spoken to a midwife once on the phone very briefly who told me that I would hear in due course about my booking in appointment and scan, both of which I still have no date and no information!! I think I will try to contact her this evening if there is no news when I get home!

ARTHURSFIRST · 25/08/2011 11:46

Hi Moffit... i phoned them a few times and then i was told that basically they were'nt interested until i was 7 weeks, when i was 7 weeks i could phone them again and then book my date scan.. which then was on week 10 however from the date scan they told me i was actually 11 weeks.. which was lovely!! Its so frustrating but very much worth the wait.

Carlitawantsababy · 25/08/2011 18:41

Welcome Arthur! what was your scan like? Do they tell you the nuchal measurement then and there? I want details, I'm soooo excited about it Grin we're you unsure of your dates when you went? H&M is really good, I'd recommend their set of two black/White maternity and nursing tops (if you're planning on breastfeeding) as they're multi purpose, comfy and flattering.look good on me and still look good on my Sis who is 23 weeks with twins..I have a topshop top too from eBay. I also bought a bigger size black boob tube from H&M which i've been wearing over the bump with sone of my tops which are now too short. Grin

shortlady · 26/08/2011 12:11

I can't remember who asked, but I saw some skinny type maternity jeans in Matalan.. Might be worth a look. Not good for me, I'm too short to wear skinny jeans full stop lol. Not looking forward to being as wide as tall!

Most of my clothes will fit for a while, because my natural shape is bigger on the hips and waist, most things have some spare waist room. Although my tops are fitted, so will probably start riding up.. If I I put on a single mm on my hips, then I will need to go shopping. Not gained any weight so far, trying to stay active.

Off the see my family this weekend so will be sharing the news (if I had never been so into drinking wine, I could have held back longer, but impossible).

I might ask my mum about her labour experiences this weekend, not that it's likey to have any correlation with me, but you never know.
She said she only gained the bump in baby weight, I can only hope that runs in families :)

feekerry · 26/08/2011 14:45

hi all.
really sorry to read the posts about midwifes not being interested etc. thats horrible.
i had me booking in appt yesterday and not really much report. they just asked me lots of questions about my health and life style and gave me various books and notes and some info on the places i can give birth. you can arrange a visit to most places so might do that before i make up my mind. they also have a mid wife drop in clinic every day at the local hospital for 2hrs every afternoon so you can literally just pop in if you have a problem. i thought that was quite a good idea. the only thing i was a bit surprised about was the AN classes wont be until your 32 weeks plus! i thought that was leaving it a bit late but maybe not!!

NotFromConcentrate · 26/08/2011 16:59

Hello again Grin

I've been laying low recently - I've been in hospital with serious allergies and had lots of drugs etc, so was worried about baby. Had a scan on Wednesday and am 11+1 (a little further than I thought) and baby is doing beautifully in there. I finally feel like I can enjoy being pregnant now, instead of constantly worrying!

I have admitted defeat now, and am wearing my maternity jeans Blush. I seem to have bloated in a fashion similar to someone who eats lots of pies...

Looking forward to reading everyone's updates and counting down to our new arrivals!

KikiRC · 26/08/2011 17:41

Hi all,

Nice to hear how're you're all doing. I wrote a long post this morning, and then my internet connection crashed & I lost it all...

Anyway, booking appt was fine yesterday, much as you'd all described. Mine was at the hospital, and so we had to walk through the labour ward which I wasn't really expecting. Made it all seem very real! Good to get an idea of what it's like there, as it's most likely where I'll have my baby if all goes well. Weird to see all the machines, and the breastfeeding posters, and it smelled so hospitally!

Carlita- we asked about the screening results, and at my hospital it takes two days for them to come back- they're posted to you. I'm not sure if this is standard (I'm in a fairly small town.)

Have an appointment with the consultant Obs a couple of weeks after the scan (just to monitor existing problems) & the next MW appt at 16 weeks.

X

Carlitawantsababy · 26/08/2011 19:52

shortlady, good to find someone who fits the pregnancy book's 'you probably haven't put on any weight yet'! Grin
feekerry that does seem rather late for AN classes! I know a few people who have given birth before then, I guess they don't want you to have forgotten it all though!
Good to hear from you notfromconcentrate! congratulations on your scan, how exciting, are you telling everyone the news now? don't be Blush about the maternity jeans, pregnancy is definitely a time when big is beautiful!Grin
Kiki thanks, good to know re screening results, wondering when to tell you see, if it's only a couple of days we may wait..

I have shamelessly lifted this from the Feb thread ( i read it to see what to expect next!)
pregnancyandbaby.sheknows.com/pregnancy/baby/Madame-Zaritska-predicts-your-birth-experience-1.php

My predicition was - The day you deliver, outside will be shiny. Your baby will arrive in the late evening. After a labor lasting approximately 19 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 11 pounds, 14 ounces, and will be 17 inches long. This child will have light violet eyes and fluffy black hair.

Carlitawantsababy · 27/08/2011 12:21
Grin Madame Zaritska, using her mystical powers, has the following prediction:

The day you deliver, outside will be dark. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 14 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 2 ounces, and will be 17 inches long. This child will have light violet eyes and a lot of brown hair.

I really hope have a shorter labour that that Shock

OP posts:
casperella · 27/08/2011 14:48

Totally Grin - here is my prediction:

The day you deliver, outside will be bright. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 44 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 9 ounces, and will be 18-1/2 inches long. This child will have light amber eyes and a lot of black hair.

Hmm - a 44 hour labour AND 10lb 9oz? Gimme a break!

JoZambia · 27/08/2011 17:21

44 hours!!! Shock

Carlitawantsababy · 27/08/2011 18:41

Okay casperella, you win! Grin

ZhenXiang · 27/08/2011 20:19

Mine says:

The day you deliver, outside will be misty. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 7 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 15 pounds, 13 ounces, and will be 18-1/2 inches long. This child will have light violet eyes and barely there red hair.

15lbs 13oz!! I will have a fanjo like a bucket for years to come Shock

JoZambia · 27/08/2011 21:02

think i would rather a 44 hour labour than a 15lb 13oz baby! eyes watering at the very thought

badgercat · 27/08/2011 21:40

zhen should be 2 babies at that weight - lucky old feekerry!!!

NotFromConcentrate · 29/08/2011 14:05

Thanks Carlita, it's nice to be back and I feel like less of a fraud now that I've seen baby with my own eyes Grin We are starting to share our news now - I'm measuring at 11+4, but the sonographer is convinced that's not accurate because the baby kept curling up and she was sure I'm a teeny bit further on that that! Bless her, she tried 3 times and got the same date each time. So some of my friends and family reckon it's still too early, but baby is fine and I'm hoping that 3 days won't make a difference!

How are we all feeling about competing with none other than Beyonce to get our pre-baby bodies back? Grin eats another slice of cake

Carlitawantsababy · 29/08/2011 16:06

notfromconcentrate I don't understand how the dates change at scans, did you not know the date of your last af? Would be great if they somehow dated me as further along! That's a bit annoying for people to tell you it's too early to tell?! 3 days won't make any difference, besides, the jury is out on when the danger zone finishes, 10-12 weeks. I'll be 11 weeks exactly at my scan but we'll be telling everyone afterwards providing all is well, it's close enough! Smile

OP posts:
JoZambia · 29/08/2011 16:28

My scan dated me a week less but my dr said not to worry they are not that accurate and can easily be a week out either way and if I am sure of my dates they would keep me at those ones.
carlita are you planning on doing a Beyonce for your announcement?? I have put off putting my news on FB cos i thought it would be seen as showing off, I guess none of us need to worry after that performance!!
