Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

happyland it's my first but I already have a bump! Granted, it's bloat, not baby but it's solid so I look pregnant rather than fat! Am having to wear lots of loose things, will tell work in two weeks when I have the scan or when I next see my manager whichever is soonest! Smile

Kiki - glad you finally heard from the MW. There might be certain questions it might be easier to answer with DH there, such as any genetic issues on his side of the family.
Hope all goes well Smile

monkeybaby2 · 20/08/2011 10:10

Yes, is my first so am really clueless.

Was quite the party girl until a few weeks ago Wink so have been on a course of 'antibiotics' and am now vaguely referring to 'pills' that mean I can't drink to excuse the rest. I have crohns disease as well which is a handy ruse for medications. Have decided I am going to try the 'As these pills mean I can't really drink, am going to go on a health kick for a month...' That will help explain the copious fruit eating! I have been mercifully spared the worst of morning sickness and work is so crazy at the moment that I can blame that for the tiredness.

Hopefully by the time I have to explain why my health kick is resulting in my belly going out instead of in I'll be able to come clean! :o

eaglewings · 20/08/2011 13:33

Been on holiday for a while, flew home with a migraine so have spent last 48 hours suffering but am about to go to a friends wedding. 2 days of not eating means I don't look as big as I did on holiday!
It's great hearing you talk about seeing the midwife, I have to make an appointment for when I'm 16 weeks. Scan is booked for 13 weeks but due to the headaches I'm having a private scan on Monday, I am prepared to to put up with the pain as long as there really is a baby in there.

Carlitawantsababy · 20/08/2011 13:48

Oh eagle sounds awful! Exciting re the scan though Grin

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing OK.

Had an odd thing this morning. Right since I found out at 5 weeks, I've had a slight 'sensation' in my tummy just a slightly 'heavy' feeling- and the nausea, of course. When I woke up this morning, I had neither. It really worried me, that it suddenly disappeared. Nausea has come back a bit, and the tummy feeling bit, now.

I also had a bit of an upset tummy this morning, so I wonder if some of the 'heavy' feeling I have been having can be from generally having a bit of constipation and bloating, and that's pressing against the uterus/ bladder etc, which just creates a bit of a 'full' feeling in general. Which I didn't have today, as I'd had an upset tummy.

Anyway, I feel OK about it now, and no sign of spotting on anything. Just felt 'different'- I've been so used to this feeling for the last five weeks.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm over analysing everything, I'm sure. Should have just enjoyed not feeling sick for five minutes!

X

KikiRC · 20/08/2011 19:36

It's alright, my tummy's back to something like it's normal funny self again, which is quite a relief, really.

I have yet another question, though!

My first scan is on 7th Sept, I'll be 12+6 then. I wondered if anyone knows how long it takes for all the screening tests etc to come back, as I'll already be nearly 13 weeks- it would be nice to work out roughly when I can tell people. I'd rather have the screening tests back before I make any announcements. Will I be more like 14 weeks by then? All just seems quite late.

Carlitawantsababy · 21/08/2011 10:04

Kiki I'm glad you're back to normal if that is how you feel best Smile do you mean things like the nuchal translucency test? I thought that would be immediate, hadn't considered waiting time! Let me know what you mean exactly and I'll ask some more pregnant people! I was a little surprised to find out that my blood results from Thursday (for HIV, Hep B) etc. will be given to me at my next appointment on 4th October! Lucky I'm not feeling anchor about them then, isn't it?!

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 21/08/2011 10:04

Anxious, not anchor Grin

KikiRC · 21/08/2011 13:37

Thanks, Carlita. I thought I read in the leaflet I was given that at my hospital they sent stuff off to London to get the screening results- but maybe I was wrong. House such a tip (in the middle of decorating) - I'll have to fish them out. One good thing about having the scan at nearly 13 weeks (I'm trying to think positively) is that hopefully I'll get an even clearer picture.

I had some blood taken having seen the GP (before I saw the midwife) to check an existing medical thing, but she said while I was there they should do some of the initial pregnancy ones, too. So they took two vials- but I don't know what these would be for- I assume they can't be HIV or anything like that, because I think you must have to sign for those tests to be taken? No idea - but I'll see if any results have come through before I see the MW next week. Seems crazy to have to wait 'til October for your bloods- I'm sure if there's any kind of concern/ problem they'd get in touch. Maybe there's also a set stored in your notes at the GP surgery if you felt you wanted to know sooner?

Carlitawantsababy · 21/08/2011 22:26

Oh, okay, I'll ask my sis about the screening results...I'm feeling fine about the bloods, not anxious, so don't mind waiting, just surprised it is such a long time!as you say, if there was something wring I'm sure they'd leer me know sooner! You don't have to sign for the HIV test but you have to agree to it. Smile

Sorry been MIA for a while, I got a bit freaked out hearing about MC's and then a cousin who was just a couple of weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy had a MMC.

Anyway, had an Obs appointment today and saw my little nugget bouncing away, feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!! All bloods and stuff fine as well, though they want to do a glucose test on me as I have been really thirsty, especially of a night. Got the proper dating scan tomorrow but think I am due on 10th March.

Hope all is well with you all and the 1st trimester symptoms are starting to ease!

11+3

knitterati · 23/08/2011 12:31

Hi all, hope everyone is well - nausea, blood tests and tiredness permitting?

I had a funny twinge last night and this morning for a few moments - in my lower right tummy, like someone was pinching my insides?! Very odd feeling! No bleeding or other signs. Could it be early movement? It's my first so no idea what it will feel like... Any thoughts?

Carlitawantsababy · 23/08/2011 13:20

jozambia great to have you back, glad you are doing well and all is well with your nugget! I have extreme thirst too, I thought it was just a pg symptom?
knitterati I have have an odd combo of twinned and tweaks, don't know what they are, have also had pain when sneezing?! Just can't wait for the scan now, want to know everything's okay Smile 10 days to go...Grin

OP posts:
JoZambia · 23/08/2011 13:46

Carlita, I am very overweight so I think they want to keep an eye on me for GD! I also have pains when i sneeze!

knitterati, I have also had all kinds of twinges ranging from really painful if i move too quick to just feeling something there when i am lying down in bed. As long as there are no other signs I wouldnt worry, its also my first baby so I cant help you out with more than that sorry!!

easterbaby · 23/08/2011 14:46

Hi there, just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm 9 wks tomorrow - and very excited! Due right at the end of March. Interesting to hear about everyone's symptoms (I'm a first timer, so not sure what to expect.) This week my tiredness & nausea have really started to show. Up to now my appetite has been huge, right from implantation (which I think I felt as a sharp stab in my uterus.)

I've got odd cravings for rice pudding and fruit jelly (??) - luckily my DH is happy to oblige with a trip to the shops when the need arises.

Scan appt is for 19th Sept. Fingers crossed all goes well in the meantime. No blood test appt yet but will call the practice midwife to find out whether I need to book that in. There's also mention of a pregnancy book - no idea what that is!

Hope everyone is doing well. Since I'm due end of March you're all a bit ahead of me! Can't wait to hear how you're all getting on.

feekerry · 23/08/2011 17:10

hi everyone and easterbaby. I'm also due right at the end of march so we'll be hanging about towards the end!! cant believe that some on here will have there baby nearly 4 weeks before us!!!
i've now been off work for 4 weeks and have been signed off until i'm 13 weeks as the thinking is my hypermesis might start to ease off a bit then but its almost managable with the meds. i feel bad taking them (they are okay for pregnancy but obv not ideal) but its better than being in hospital.
anyone had any restless legs yet????? really weird feeling in my legs sometimes when in bed at night, like i got to keep moving them? its odd but apparently a common symptom. so with me throwing up 24/7 and random restless legs, i'm an absolute delight at the moment!!!

got my booking in appt on thursday so looking forward to that, nice to hear about everyone elses!!

xxxxx

easterbaby · 23/08/2011 18:00

feekerry - sounds like you're having a rough time. No restless legs for me, but it's more difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. If it's any comfort, MIL (who's also a medic) says that the sicker you feel, the better the baby's doing!

There's a stats page for those due in March... why not check it out and add your own? Good way to see due dates (and basic info) at a glance.

happyland · 23/08/2011 18:46

Is anyone feeling any flutterings yet??

KikiRC · 23/08/2011 20:20

Hello everybody,

Sorry to hear you're still feeling so sick, feekerry. I'm still a bit nauseous, but not as bad as I was a week or so ago, and I'm eating much better again. Hope yours wears off very soon, you must be feeling exhausted. My friend had terrible restless leg syndrome throughout her pregnancy, it drove her nuts. I really hope yours wears off.

I'm gradually getting a bit more energy- hoping I'll be a bit livelier in the second trimester which is fast approaching. I've my booking-in appt on Thursday, and scan the following Weds, so really looking forward to that and hoping everything's OK. Still only told a couple of people, so it will be nice to be more open about it. I had a ridiculous fear that at the scan there would be nothing there, and the sonographer would say I'd just imagined it!

Had one or two more stretchy feelings around my tummy & hip the other day which I've not had since early on, but nothing 'fluttery'. Breasts a bit sore every now & then. Tummy definitely a bit swollen.

X

feekerry · 24/08/2011 11:19

no flutterings for me either but as kikirc says do get random stretching feelings, like i'm physically getting stretched. sometimes if i get up quickly it feels abit weird in my hip.
i also have my booking in appt tomorrow so will report anything useful. hope you enjoy yours tomorrow kikirc

Carlitawantsababy · 24/08/2011 12:54

Hi easterbaby and welcome, good to have you with us! You get a yellow book which you have to take to all your appointments. I'm getting mine next appointment 4th Oct as they did most of my booking in on the computer system. I guess that might be the 'pregnancy book'. Anyway, glad you're doing well.
feekerry sorry to hear you are still so sick, I hope it does ease off by 13 weeks, you must be so fed up. No restless leg here but have read about it!
happyland I have had some flutterings but it's ages till they say you can feel the baby..I prefer to think I'm more sensitive to my body than that it's just wind!
kiki exact same fear hit me the other day, that there would be no baby, they'll tell me it died weeks ago or something Sad I think everyone has worries until they have seen a baby/heard a heartbeat! Most of the time I'm not worried but feel very lucky!
It's getting very exciting now with scans coming up, can't wait to hear everyone's experience! For me, I'm getting more energy like kiki and looking forward to the magical second trimester. I still haven't had any nausea or sickness so feel very lucky there too, no offence to your MiL easterbaby but there isn't any proof that sickness = healthy baby, just that there is a correlation between morning sickness and fewer miscarrages but it doesn't mean if you aren't sick your baby is any less healthy - just to reassure any worried googlers dropping in on our thread Grin

Good luck for tomorrow too, Feekerry. It's looking like my DP is able to come along, which will be nice.

I'm bloated to the point I can't comfortably wear any of my trousers now! I was wondering if anyone had tried maternity skinny jeans? (i.e. they usually have a stretchy band built in.) I don't want to buy anything frumpy, thought they might be a good solution. Wondering if I'll be big enough for them yet though- or if they might be a bit baggy around the middle for a couple of months? I'm a size 10, & haven't put on weight anywhere else. Topshop ones look nice online. X

shortlady · 24/08/2011 21:38

I am also having that stomach stretchy feeling now for the last few days. End of abdominal muscles I reckon. Still not sickness, and started to have more energy, so might be speaking too soon, but seem to have got off lightly. Scan is 9th Sept so not long now!! I am (was) quite slim and think I am starting to show now (I'm 9 + 3).

Ordered the Rough guide to pregnancy after someone recommended. Really funny and DH has even got into it.

I did not get a yellow book (live in wales) just a load of forms and leaflets about screening tests. Here they do the first midwide appt and scan at the same time.

I did look at some maternity clothes, but want to last out as long as I can. Thinking pregancy in summer would be less complicated on the wardrobe front, and less expensive.

Carlitawantsababy · 25/08/2011 09:30

shortlady glad you're starting to show and that feekerry is having trouser trouble because my bump is definitely here at 9+6, glad scan is only a week tomorrow as I can't keep it a secret much longer! I'm going to tell my boss tomorrow as I'm meeting with her about advertising my deputy's post so my leaving might have an affect on what we decide, besides, I figured I'm going to need her support whether it goes well or not.
shortlady glad you 'got away with it' too! My mum did with both her pregnancies and had drug free (not even gas and air) 3 hour labours, I REALLY hope I follow her there too!
feekerry, I have bought one pair of maternity jeans and a denim skirt, both mammas and pappas eBay, the jeans are still a little too big even with a belt (size 10) but I still fit in to one pair of normal jeans (28) because of the cut, on the hips, so I'm okay for maybe two weeks, by then hopefully the others will fit and I won't have an in between phase! My sister said that some of the jeans have stretchy panel at the back too and a strap to tighten them with (hers are m & p too) which sound good but neither of us has tried skinny as we don't where skinny in normal life, I like them as wide as I can get them Grin
