No baybee here yet. But getting major twinges in what I assume is my cervix. Feels sort of stretchy, presumably because head is moving down and stretching stuff (maybe should've paid more attention at NCT).

Snowhorse when I was a student, I was advised to put a dab of vicks vapour-rub or similar under my nose before going into the pathology lab. Just a thought, could help to avoid poo-vs-vom situations.

Medee · 15/07/2011 09:29

ooh, Foxy!

owlbooty · 15/07/2011 09:35

Maccer and Bitey can we please go for the cluster lay on the 29th? I could move it forward to the 28th at a push but I don't pick up my pool til the 27th so not before that pliz.

I strongly suspect Ginner and GG are going to get there before us. GG I have only been stung twice ever and both times it was because I stepped on a wasp - is effing painful even without the poorly haggis feet. I hope it has deflated by now :(

Rocket hope everything goes v.v.well with Sprout today

Question to clusterlayers (and anyone else who knows this sort of thing) - this week it feels like I'm not getting the big kicks and rolls I used to get; it feels more like he's running out of space and I get pokey foot in ribs sometimes and bony arse sticking out but not a lot else. I'm still getting a fair amount of movement overall, it's not like he's stopped shifting about, it's just less 'big' movements now. Is this what you lot found?

Ginfox · 15/07/2011 10:54

Yes Boots, I am getting the odd tai chi-type movement of a big elaborate stretch now and again - looks like massive hernia coming out of right side - but generally not as much or as violent as before. Tend to get a lot of fidgeting in the evening and esp when I'm lying down, presumably as muscles are relaxed so there's a bit more room in there for manouvre.

Keep suggesting that Foxcub might be more comfortable outside my womble, but I'm not sure it's paying attention.

laurielou · 15/07/2011 11:05

Wot no baybees? C'mon, get a move on pliz

Rocket hope all goes well with Sprout today. I'm sure it will be fine, but no less scary...

Ski you paint a beautiful picture of domestic bliss Grin. Let the nearly-mums have their moments of De Nile - I know Ienjoyed mine right up until the reality of the chicken-korma poo set in (BugBoy's, not mine).

MrBitey · 15/07/2011 12:23

boots I am getting exactly what foxette has described. Is a bit like Alien. Am thinking about sitting astride one of these in an attempt to lure him out. If he has got any of his dad's genes I will be on to a winner!

MrBitey · 15/07/2011 12:24

PS Chicken Korma Poo????? Not on these fluffy whities, no siree!

LadyGoneGaga · 15/07/2011 12:56

Got my first ever sweep in a couple of hours. Am not expecting it to be much fun. Anyone ever had one? Any tips? Quite looking forward to seeing what is going on up there though. And got to go on the monitor too. With MiniG in tow which could be fun.

I think Micro G is a bit oblique still, which is also concerning me.

I am not as yet feeling labour is imminent. Think Gin will retain her place in the queue. Unless this sweep works. Although we are having Virgin fitted tomorrow so would be better if we waited til then.

Medee · 15/07/2011 13:00

Use it to practise your labour breathing, Lady, as I found sweeps, particularly the first, very uncomfortable. Might just be the midwife though.

Ginfox · 15/07/2011 14:05

Good luck for later GG. I don't feel as if laying is imminent, so you may well queue-jump. My sweep is booked for Tues, so will be interested to hear how it goes for you.

Off for nap. Laters.

rocketleaf · 15/07/2011 14:31

Sorry to C&P from CRESH but Sprout kicking off and just wanted to let you know...

Hossie went well, ECG clear and no murmur, the valve and the duct have both closed although there is still a tiny VSD it must also be closing. We have to go back in a year to make sure. Obviously not as good news as we hoped but still very positive. Thanks for all the ESHthoughts.

Will catch up properly later so hope all is well

rocketleaf · 15/07/2011 14:54

Well that was a short lived kick off that turned into a nap. Result.

bitey I definitely remember much less of the rabbit punch type movement and fewer but bigger stretchy types in the last week. I think as you say they run out of room and also less able to squirm as head engages.

gaga hope the sweep isnt too bad, they don't sound the most fun thing but hopefully it's helpful in dislodging microG. What with that and foxys twinging cervix I can't decide where to train the binos.

MadameBoo · 15/07/2011 15:30

I had about 7 sweeps Lady. The more they hurt the more effective they are unfortunately - - hope it wasn't too bad.

So glad all is looking much better with Sprout.

owlbooty · 15/07/2011 15:43

Hoorah for the Sproutlet! That is excellent news :)

GG hope the sooty and sweep goes well and is not ouchy. People seem to have very mixed reviews for sweeps; I suspect it may hinge on how close you are to being ready as to how uncomfortable it is (hopefully not at all).

Glad to hear I am not the only one with the changes in movement. I caved and went to see the drop in clinic MW who was very nice and also said it was perfectly normal at this stage. She checked the boy and listened to him and he was head down, still engaged, right way round and ready to rock. I am so glad they indulge my continued paranoia - they're a lovely bunch round here.

Bites am liking the beer idea. If someone can find a 10 litre barrel of ale Owlet might also make an appearance Grin What will MiniGinner prefer, I wonder? A bucket of GnT?

Boo you just asked for the extra ones didn't you. It's like BB and her filthy dildocam habit Grin

I have just met up with the local MNers and snuffled some baybees. They were lush - all smiles and gorgeous chubby dimples. And none of them shat whilst I was snuffling them, which is always a bonus.

MadameBoo · 15/07/2011 15:48

I think the guidelines only say you can have 3 or something Boots, but my midwives knew I was keen to avoid induction so did a few sneaky ones while they were 'examining' me :o

OK, Ok I'm going!

LadyGoneGaga · 15/07/2011 16:14

Sat in monitoring bay. No sweep as cervix up with the gods out of reach. Will try again Tuesday but really don't think will be laying for a while. Is quite dull here.

Brilliant news on Sprout, Rocket. Sounds like it will all resolve itself.

owlbooty · 15/07/2011 16:44

Arsebuckets, GG .

laurielou · 16/07/2011 09:50

Rocket so glad all is well with Sprout. That is good news indeed.

LadyG sorry your cervix is being shy. Have to say my one & only sweep wasn't very comfortable at all - but I think it was prolly a mix of me being a bit blase thinking it would be like a smear & Bug being breech. Good idea to use it as reason to practice breathing. Before our tales of hurty scare you too much a friend of mine who is teeny tiny had a number of sweeps without any pain at all. So it could well be midwife technique (I found my MW quite rough when checking me over anyway). Hope next one is more successful.

LadyGoneGaga · 16/07/2011 11:16

Cheers Loz. Am not that bothered about it being hurty. I figure it will be less hurty than an induction and in the face of imminent labour I need to man up anyway. Am bouncing on the ball today to try and get Micro to exert some pressure on my cervix. But MiniG never really engaged so maybe this will be the same.

Any news from Gin this morning? Surely the full moon must have made someone lay?

Ginfox · 16/07/2011 11:36

No layage here. Stupid faulty full moon.

Had major period-type pain last night. Lasted a couple of minutes, nothing else since. Prolly just a trial run, but am still getting lots of twinges and pressure in cervix region. Other than that fed-up, no energy or enthusiam. Might go back to bed.

Bad luck on awkward cervix LadyG. Seem to recall from last smear test that mine is difficult to get at too. Fingers crossed for a tall midwife with extra-long fingers on tues.

So Tues is the day of the cluster-sweep. Is anyone running a book on MicroG vs Foxcub?

Sprocket good news re: Sprout. Hopefully the VSD will close by itself, but plenty of people live happily (and often unwittingly) with tiny ones. I used to work in paediatric cardiology, so PM me if you need any contacts or anyfink.

Wol a barrel of single malt would work best for Foxcub methinks. Or failing that a ginourmous pot of tea (with cosy obv. so I don't burn my legs).

OP posts:
macaroonmum · 16/07/2011 15:23

gin you don't actually believe that moon stuff, do you Maybe lack of energy is your body telling you to get rested up because things are about to kick off?

rocks Glad things are better with leaflet - sounds promising.

AlpinePony · 16/07/2011 16:34

ladyg are they happy now for babyg to come when it comes? Did you start naturally last time?

Milano you poor muffin - I hope you're ok. :( what's the weather like with you? It's grim here and if it'd been like this last year I'd have been very happy.

Cmon GINfox!

I too am crying. I got a ticket for kurs (Dressage to music) at the international horse festival in Germany before I was diffed. It starts at half nine! (Sobs) so if you're watching on tell tonight and you see some nag prancing in time to rhythmical snore rather than Beethoven's fifth, that'll be me. ;)

The pokes are back, I thought you had this covered truff?

brownie how are you feeling?

I keep getting pains and am scared it's stuck on my scar. Am also getting vulgar and clitoral pains, wtf? Yesterday my boobs were so sore I cried. :(

bitey your colleagues are weird. Nobody did anything for me when I went on maternity last time.:( wankers. I'm not telling until legal limit this time as I work in a male dominated environment and don't want to be sidelined just because I am 'mit bebe' as ms Jones would say.

LadyGoneGaga · 16/07/2011 17:39

My induction is booked for next Sunday, Alps, which is my due date. But they may pull forward if blood sugars too high. Last time I went into labour naturally on my due date and delivered next day. But am having sweeps tues and Fri to try and avoid the induction.

What are these vulgar pains you speak of? Sorry you having sore bits though. Am sure all is fine and are just stretch type pains. I think you het more pains etc second time round as your uterus is a seasoned campaigners and puts its back into everything with gusto. But could you get checked on your scan if you are worried about adhesions?

Hugs for Milano. So what, we are very, very pregnant. We need a little tenderness ok?!

MadameBoo · 16/07/2011 19:21
MrBitey · 16/07/2011 20:17

No laying here, stoopid moon. Did have terrible period pain type cramps again but they went away after a bath and a snooze. Ah well. Have found a very nice new cafe where they serve really good coffee today. Had two to celebrate and got kicked all afternoon, possibly in the colon.

Sorry about the aloof cervix gg, hopefully Tuesday will be better.

I am spending lots of time in bed too foxy I think it might be an alternative nesting to cleaning? That's my excuse anyway!

Are you suffering from increased blood flow to the area alpen? I was rather throbby for a while.
