Good list Anu I've also put in:

Flip flops (those plastic ones that can go in the shower)
Hair band and grips
Pen and paper and I'm going to get a couple of magazines (though that may be wishful thinking!)
Tel numbers for breastfeeding helpline
Lansinoh nipple cream

I'd packed one bag for baby and one for me but labour and post-natal makes more sense!

Can I ask a daft question - we are advised to use cotton wool and water for nappy changes but what do you put the water in in hospital? Do I need to take the bowl I'll be using at home?

Hope you're feeling better KLou the Haribo will definitely help Wink

Let us know how you get on annie

MrsChemist · 07/07/2011 19:33

Bettyboo, I just asked the midwives for a bowl of water for nappy changing. Well, what actually happened was I realised that DS needed his nappy changed, and that I've never changed a nappy. So I asked them to show me, she brought the bowl and left it for me to use again.

I'm going to have to take my bag to my uncle's wedding, which is far away and three weeks before my due date. Also, my midwife doesn't think I'll get to term (I didn't last time) so there is a possibility of going into labour at the wedding. Hope I don't

Annie456 · 07/07/2011 21:26

Argh why do the assessment units take sooooo long to be seen. No leaky waters but really high white blood cells in urine-didn't someone else on here have that recently? They'll send it off and see if there's an infection. Relieved that everything is ok but feel like I've wasted 6 hours of my afternoon / evening. It's made me seriously think about a home birth-there's too much waiting around and not knowing what's happening in hospitals...I don't think I actually dare but would love to... X

konatsu · 07/07/2011 21:32

Wow a new thread! We are all almost there! I?m scared?
How is going? I disappeared for a while?. I need to catch up a lot!
I am experiencing tinnitus lately and it is giving me hard times to sleep but even simply relax is difficult? I?m feeling quite depressed? I don?t have it everyday but when it appears it can last for a while and it is really annoying. I never had it before and it seems to be a pregnancy related problem?

Bump is growing and my last scan went well. I?m having a lot of BH contractions, I feel really heavy and tired.. I?m sure you know the feeling?

MrsStevo, re toxoplasmosis, since the beginning of my pregnancy I get tested all the times when I have some blood tests to do. I ask for it specifically this is because I am not immune but negative meaning I never had it and if I catch it during pregnancy could be dangerous for the baby. But if you are immune there is no problem at all.

Re the H bag, MW suggested to bring own pillows and covers?

neverlookback · 07/07/2011 22:26

i think in hospital i used those cardboard sick bowls to put the water in to change babys nappy, sounds awful but im sure thats what everyone was using!!

Does anyone know what aromatheraphy oils can be used in labour, i remember the midwife putting lavender into the bath, what else would be calming and relaxing?

MrsPotionsMistress · 07/07/2011 22:54

Neverlookback I went to a talk about perfume a while ago (courtesy of MN) and the man doing the talk said that studies had shown that there is nothing inherently relaxing about lavender, suggesting that's it's a learned response. So as long as you've checked the safety of any aromatherapy oils with a reputable source, then any smell that you personally find relaxing or pleasant, will relax you.

littlemisslozza · 08/07/2011 07:23

They gave me a small white plastic pot to put water in for cotton wool.

Rehune · 08/07/2011 14:17

KLou hope you feel better soon. It's the worst feeling in the world having a bad stomach and vomiting. DH and I went out for dinner and I came back with awful tum my ache. Was thinking that if this was so bad, labour is going to be just awful. Smoked salmon was a bad idea

SelinaDoula · 08/07/2011 14:19

Am now 37 weeks and officially full term!
Getting more twinges down below and a sore lower back but I dont think labour is imminent.
Was arguing with DP which made me very anxious but we seem to be getting on OK now and I went for a lovely full body aromatherapy massage yesterday that really chilled me out.
Neverlookback re labour oils- I tend to use lavender and Neroli. You can use Clary sage if contractions are slow (either massaged or just to sniff). Yesterday I had frankinsense and Ylang Ylang which were good for anxiety and relaxing.
Also in labour you can use jasmine, rose, geranium, tangerine, peppermint- Whatever takes your fancy really!
Anu I used a Boppy cushion when establishing BF last time. It was helpful with my big boobs, flat nipples and little sleepy baby. You can get an inflatable version you can take out with you easily. I have one again this time but I agree feeding lying down is lovely!
I have the birth pool all set up now and have a hose adaptor to fill it with. Looking forward to my homebirth!
MrsS Try not to worry, do you have any Natal hypnotherapy cd's? Nothing constructive you can do while waiting for tests except try to stay calm and relaxed for your babies!
S x

neverlookback · 08/07/2011 15:29

hope this awful weather goes away in time.

have a lovey weekend everone x

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/07/2011 17:01

Thank you for the packing lists anu! I hope to come home straight afterwards as I did last time, so a list of what DH will need to bring if I'm kept in is very helpful. I would actually have forgotten my maternity notes if they hadn't been on the list Blush Also forgot about nursing bras. Another friend today suggested the mini holiday toiletries as well, and a new toothbrush, so you're not dashing around in early labour finding all the last minute bits. I think my camera's new home will be the hospital bag too!

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/07/2011 17:13

Something else I thought of to add to the post-natal ward list is plastic bags. I bled through all my clothes and DD puked/pood through all hers, and I was able to give bags of dirty stuff to visitors who kindly took it home and washed it!

KLou111 · 08/07/2011 21:31

Good idea plastic bags Capp

Any new bump piccies??? Just put mine on :)

OP posts:
Firawla · 08/07/2011 21:45

klou your bump is still so neat looking and you look so slim!

good to see everyone's lists for hosp, its not been that long since my other 2 but you quickly forget what you need to pack! will have to start thinking about getting things ready soon

bettyboo83 · 08/07/2011 23:45

Well I think I can safely say I won't be putting any bump pics on after your lovely slim one KLou [hgrin]

Firawla · 09/07/2011 12:27

did someone on here say they had some kind of vomitting stomache bug the other day? i have got something like that now, feel soo crap :( and we have so much stuff that needs doing too so feels like a waste of my weekend, cos i really cant face going out or getting much done. feeling v sorry for myself

MrsVidic · 09/07/2011 13:07

firawla I had a d & v bug for 24 hours on mnday to Tuesday not nice! Mw said there's one going round and as long as baby is moving it's ok. I found ice cubes helped me when I couldn't stomach anything

KLou111 · 09/07/2011 13:41

firawla I had it Tuesday night to Wednesday, bloody awful, but was only 24 hours if it's any consolation :)

OP posts:
Firawla · 09/07/2011 18:26

not been sick again since so seems to have lasted less than 24 hrs luckily, although still dont feel great. but atleast dh has taken kids out so can have a bit of rest. hope everyone is well

Leilandri · 09/07/2011 20:28

Firawla I had D&V bug friday afternoon, and all night. Seems to be ok today, and have been munching on melon mostly. Feel ok today, just very weak from lack of food and sleep. DS had the sickness on Tuesday night, went in to check on him, and bless the little trooper there was sick everywhere and he was sound asleep Shock the bad nappies have been yesterday and today, and by god they are NOT pleasant :(

Am 35 weeks today, and I think I finally have everything ready for newborn. Hospital bag is packed, everything washed etc. Been getting loads of strong BH over the past few days, so I just hope bubba is not thinking of coming early, I like a baby that ticks to my schedule [hgrin]

Firawla · 09/07/2011 22:01

seems like it is going round everyone then! oh well i suppose better to get it now than with a newborn

KLou111 · 10/07/2011 10:10

Anyone got nursery piccies???? Just put mine up :) Not 100% yet as still got piccies to put up and we didn't have any hooks lol!:)

OP posts:
Firawla · 10/07/2011 11:05

Ooh nice :D you look almost ready then

MrsStevo · 10/07/2011 17:59

Well I'm not sure about anyone else but I'm not talking to Klou anymore .... far too slim and gorgeous looking at this stage of pregnancy!! Envy I look like a complete whale by comparison!! Will get some pics of my bump on here if I can figure out how so you can all feel better about yourselves. I won't put a front-on pic on here though, the stretch-marky mess that is now my stomach would put you all off your food.

Scan on Friday went well and I now have a booked date for my C-sec - 1st August!! So I will JUST still be eligible to stay on this thread!! I will be over the moon if we make it as far as that. Our goal was to get into June so we were past 28 weeks so to get to August just seems like some kind of miracle.

Our nursery is almost finished ... although now I have another 3 weeks to fill before babies arrive I may end up doing more to it. Thinking of painting a tree and a parrot onto the wall by freehand ... I am no artist so it could be a complete disaster! KLou - your nursery looks beautiful!

Sorry to hear of all the D&V nastiness going round. Hope you're all feeling better soon and are getting pampered by your DPs / DHs in the meantime

Off to polish off another brownie .... totaling 6 for the day Grin

KLou111 · 10/07/2011 18:23

Bloody hell MrsS you've got 2 in there!!! I feel huge, but I'm long apparently hence not a huge bump. Weighed myself this morning, and have put on 1st 9lbs and DH said 'bloody hell, that's a big baby', sod was taking the piss of course!
Woweee, 1st August booked, how're you feeling about that?? At least you're not a sneek anymore for July. Glad scan went well.
Just off out for a meal with the in laws who are here til tomorrow, may have to have a dessert as am dying for a banoffee pie or cheesecake or something like that :)
