I have been so busy that I haven't had a moment to catch up/post. After nearly 5 weeks in SCBU, Morgan came home yesterday!! Our little family is now complete.

KLou I've got the matalan nursing bras too. Pretty comfy and what a bargain. Reckon I might need a bigger size though once the baby comes...

littlemisslozza · 12/07/2011 21:27

That's fantastic news wishwales, you must be thrilled. Glad to hear all is well with you too MrsVidic.

Re nursing bras, I went to M&S at about 37 weeks the first time and got measured and bought one pack of bras. Subsequently sent my mum to get more when DS1 was a couple of weeks old as I knew they were right then and I leaked copiuosly so needed loads. Size wise, I am normally a 36B pre-pregnancy, I am not blessed with an increase in size during pregnancy, and then when feeding I go up to the dizzy heights of..... wait for it..... 36C! No big bazookas here Grin! In hospital I have not needed a nursing bra until about 3 days post birth when my milk has come in, then I'd have a day or two of feeling like Jordan, and then they would settle down and be pretty much my normal size. Some of my friends have been similar to me, one friend gets huge boobs in pregnancy and when feeding so it's hard to give exact advice really, maybe get measured and get a couple then get more afterwards if you need them.

Firawla · 12/07/2011 21:53

congrats wishwales!! must be great to have her home

MrsVidic · 13/07/2011 07:25

Wishwales- congratulations- Morgan is a fighter- you have done a wonderful job and now you can watch as your house slowly becomes taaken over by someone so small!

Bra sizes- I would go up 1 size but you may need up/down when your supply is regualar and you get a pattern- for sleep bras I would go bigger def

I'm off for a small last day/ good bye to work

MrsVidic · 13/07/2011 07:37

oh i have also put some photos up and changed my settings so you guys can see them

WinterLover · 13/07/2011 07:43

Yay Wishwales thats great news Grin

MrsStevo · 13/07/2011 11:57

wishwales - FANTASTIC news!!! BIG congratulations. It must be amazing to finally have her home. Are there any updated pics that we can have a nose at? Also, would you mind reminding me, how many weeks was Morgan when she arrived?

MrsV - HURRAH for all being good at your scan. Stupid scaremongering hospital. Your bump looks lovely and very neat!! How many weeks are you? And is that pic of a giant rock your engagement ring? BEAUTIFUL!

Jenny I don't believe that your bump is bigger than mine, I just don't. I measure 46 and 1/2" around my widest part. I have put on 2stone 8lbs so far... but there's plenty of time left. You bump looks fab!!

To join the bra-chat, I'm with littlemisslozza on the distinct lack of massive bazookas. Mine haven't grown at all during pregnancy :( but I have bought sleep bras and nursing bras from mothercare in a cupsize bigger than norm (36E) to tide me over in hospital. I know you're supposed to wait until 36ish weeks but I couldn't take that risk. The thought of sending DH shopping for nursing bras filled me with dread ... god only knows what he'd come back with!

I had another day of painting in the nursery yesterday. I now have a giant palm tree and 2 colourful parrots on one wall. I was going to get busy with a load of stickers but the few that I have already put on the wall are peeling off already and as I wanted something on the wall above the cots, I figured peeling stickers prob weren't the best. Today I will mostly be sewing animals onto curtains!

MrsVidic · 13/07/2011 15:18

Yes that's the ring mrs s!
I'm 37 weeks tomorrow!

Hersetta · 13/07/2011 15:50

Gosh 2 weeks today and my baby will be here!!

Spent the day cleaning with DH - nursery and our bedrooms are all scrubbed and steamed from top to bottom - just the lounge to do now! Also finished my hospital bag (was just waiting to see how big baby was expected to be before I decided on taking newborn or 0-3 clothes). Also sensibly have packed a trunki full of clothes and toys for DD, just in case DS decides to arrive early, as my Mum is only flying in from Spain the day before my ELCS so she may end up going to stay with DH's parents whilst we are at hospital.

Feel fine in myself, although tired and feel like the baby is very low now so have a nasty pain most of the time right down in my fanjo...nice. DS still moving lots and goes berserk between 9pm and 10pm every night - my tummy feels like there is an alien in there for i am still in denial that there is a real life 7.5lb baby in there already.

CappuccinoCarrie · 13/07/2011 16:08

Doc just phoned to say yesterday's blood test shows I need iron tablets, tbh I'm relieved as in the last week or so my energy levels have nose dived, and I've been struggling to concentrate and doing stupid things like taking wrong turnings on journeys that I've done every week for years. And last night I went scrapbooking at a friend's and forgot to take my scrapbook Confused. Will pick up prescription tomorrow and hopefully start feeling better soon! We're doing a BBQ for DH's birthday on Saturday and I really want it to be fun, he deserves it after everything he's done looking after us all so well.

Re bras I haven't really grown at all yet, experience says I have bazooka boobs in the first few weeks then they settle down to a size one cup size bigger than pre-pregnancy for the duration. I've got this one by bravado and this one by fig leaves for the early stages and overnight when I go from a DD to a B in one feed. My favourite nursing bra for after the first few weeks is a Bravado one that I can't see on their website any more, but I can also thoroughly recommend their nursing tank top as its got a proper bra built in, so when you lift your top to feed, your whole stomach is still covered and you stay warm and discreet. HTH. I haven't been nursing bra shopping for three years so I'm sure there's more great stuff on the market that I don't know about.

NHAN · 13/07/2011 16:36

Congratulations Wishwales, must be lovely to be home x

I haven't been on for a while but keep trying to catch up with everyones news, not very successfully though!
Everythings well with baby, nearly 36 weeks and counting as now starting to get a bit uncomfortable. I'm also pretty organised which i'm very suprised about, don't actually need to buy anything else but would like to get a new blanket as this one will have all his older brothers things and i feel a bit guilty.

Just wondered if anyone has no family of their own? i've got inlaws but not that close to them so can use them for babysitting but not turn to them for support or anything. I'm sure i'm not the only one but haven't come across anyone else.

sisterT · 13/07/2011 19:42

Hello everyone - I just cant keep up with you all. Its my last day at work tomorrow and I cant wait!
Congratulations on the homecoming wishwales hope the 'now what?' isn't too scary for you Wink
nhan I'm on my own too. I have a sister who lives miles away and is in erratic contact of the 'sorry, too busy' kind. DH's family are lovely but DS's birth brought home just how much I missed my mum. You get along, and probably wouldnt be contacting your parents for those "its 4am - wtf?" phonecalls/webchats anyway!!!!! x

bettyboo83 · 13/07/2011 23:22

Congratulations WishWales! First baby home safe and sound Smile I hope you're feeling better MrsV
And to everyone else, I'm very Envy of your lovely, neat bumps! The looming threat of having to fit in my wedding dress in December is getting more real!
We've been to antenatal class this evening and a lady that gave birth yesterday came down and the MW bathed the baby!! He was sooo cute, called Oscar and born at 3pm yesterday! I can't quite believe that I will have one in a matter of weeks!
I like the look of that nursing vest top CCarrie. I'm gonna go and get measured at M&S next week and see what they say re: size and then order a couple on-line.
What are people's thoughts on a natural vs managed third stage? I'd just assumed I would have the injection to speed things along but then the MW at the antenatal class bascially said if you've had a normal pregnancy and labour, why interfere? Now I'm confuzzled!
Well, bizarrely it's my hen 'do' this weekend! I thought I'd best do it pre-baby in case I don't get chance after. I don't know what I'm doing, just that I'm being collected at 9am on Saturday! However it will be a sober affair as me plus 2 of my 4 bridesmaids are pregnant Grin

Teladi · 14/07/2011 07:49

Also wondering about the third stage and I'm not really clear about what the norm is! Haven't been to antenatal yet though, maybe they might give a bit more info at our one.

Hope you have a great hen do betty!

KTisPG · 14/07/2011 08:29

Hello everyone

I'm struggling to keep up at the moment too. 2 more weeks at work and even though I'm working from home and only doing 4 days, it's killing me :o

Had my 34 week appointment yesterday and all ok. BP back to normal (phew) so looks like I'm on course for my homebirth. Seeing consultant mw on 1 August to go through final plans.

Re third stage, I want to wait to cut the cord until its stopped pulsing. This delay in cutting the cord allows all the blood to transfer from the placenta to the baby and there is increasingly strong evidence that this makes a big difference to them. I don't think you can have the injection until the cord is cut, so that would mean that in all likelihood I'll have a physiological third stage. I did with DS and to be honest I didn't really notice - I was too busy cuddling him and giving him his first feed to pay much attention

cjdamoo · 14/07/2011 08:48

Nearly 37 weeks here and feling totally over it. Lil miss can arrive anytime after sunday night thank you.

RugbyWidow7 · 14/07/2011 10:06

Hi ladies,

I thought I'd post a link to this thread as it really cheered me up after all the doom and gloom I've heard / read about labour. It's all the best bits that people don't really talk about! Excellent!

I am hoping for a physiological third stage and that everything just follows on natually (in an ideal world) - though if I end up down the epidural route, I'm guessing that won't happen.

Finished NCT this week - woohoo! Have a lot of feedback to give. I'm not sure we had the best experience of it!

MrsVidic · 14/07/2011 10:11

I went for managed last time as I figured that if I managed to deliver a baby without intervention then I was dammed if I'd end up on an operating table to get my placenta out. As it went fine last time I'm going for the same again

aStarInStrangeways · 14/07/2011 10:20

Have a lovely hen do betty :)

Congratulations wishwales, enjoy the start of your lovely family life at home - it's such a special time, and doubly so for you I would imagine :)

3rd stage: I didn't really have an opinion on it last time but in the event went for managed as once DS was out I wanted the birthing part over with ASAP so I could get on with enjoying him. It was fine. Will probably do the same again this time.

Am 37 weeks now and also really ready for her to arrive. Absolutely no signs of labour yet though, just one very tired me feeling bad about having a lot of lazy telly-heavy days with DS. Slept badly last night, which doesn't help - woken up by cats, then bladder, then by DS falling out of bed.
