Ali I hope it has worked for you.
Jen if you do have to be induced it can be straightforward and quick. my induction with DD only took a few hours with just the pessary to kick it off and just gas and air for pain relief. subsequently I have had babies that were 13 and 12days late so some of us just do long pregnancies. I would not worry too much about whether the sweep works or not. they have never done anything for me-my cervix never seems to be favourable just before labour but has not prevented me starting labour naturally three times and having pretty easy births. with ds3 we only got to the birthing centre 40mins before he was born with 7min pushing stage. a few hours earlier I had been moaning that I was overdue and nothing was happening. good luck everyone.

neverlookback · 27/08/2011 09:49

well im trying to forget that im even pregnant now, i went out for a meal with some friends last night and had a couple of glasses of wine, it was lovely and then i got a lie in this morning and breakfast in bed from my dp and ds which is the 1st time ever!!! So i think its finally sinking in that he needs to be nice to me at this horrible overdue stage! or maybe its cos i gave him a BJ last night in the hope that might get something started! haha, im sure its a man that made that myth up, anyway weve tried everything else, but all that happened was i had a good nights sleep, a really funny dream and didnt need 1 wee all night, quite a sucsess but id rather of gone in to labour and be holding this naughty baby!!!

KTisPG · 27/08/2011 11:48

Well today's my due date by my dates, although I'm officially 41 weeks and still no more signs and I'm running out of friends to harrass visit.

Carrie Bounty - SO rude!

Jen Softening is a good sign and as I understand it the cervix can ripen quite quickly, so don't give up hope just yet. Sending you all my labour inducing vibes, you're need is greater than mine at the moment. Come ON baby!

Alibaba Hope you've had your baby by now - looking forward to the announcement.

Never be grateful for small mercies - I was up 7 times again for the loo last night. This must mean the baby is right in my pelvis right???

CappuccinoCarrie · 27/08/2011 13:38

We haven't heard anything from rugby for a while.... :)

Lots more painful BH last night, roughly every 7mins til they fizzled out around 1am. Have had a few pain-free ones today. All its doing is getting my hopes up that I might not have to be induced on Tuesday. ILs arrive tomorrow to look after the DCs during induction week (they didn't want to drive up on bank holiday, fair enough) so I hope I go into labour tonight and have the baby before they get here as I don't want them seeing me in labour Confused

jen I didn't have a sweep booked, having seen the MW last Tuesday, my next appt is my induction next Tues. Have had pineapple and sex instead Grin

majormoo thank you for the encouragement about quick inductions, I can't bear the thought of being away from my DCs for 4 or 5 days. Its always good to hear that it can go well!

MrsChemist · 27/08/2011 19:42

Hey, just popped in to say that baby Sebastian turned up at ten to seven this morning after a four and a half hour labour :)

We're all at home now, having a chill out :)

KTisPG · 27/08/2011 20:10

Congratulations MrsC hope he didn't mess up your party plans too much :o

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 27/08/2011 20:34

Well done MrsC!! hope your DS1 is chuffed with his new brother xx

JenniferYellowHatsRedLingerie · 28/08/2011 08:07

Well, 40+11 now.
But a definite show this morning!
So am waiting for DH to wake up and am going to talk to him about putting off the induction until Wed and see if we can get this baby out naturally, at home, like I planned. I'll talk to the mw as well about coming and doing another sweep at home today as well to see if we can get anything shifting. Then if still nothing at 40+14 I'll bow to the inevitable and go in hospital. Fingers crossed! :)

KTisPG · 28/08/2011 10:48

Ooh good luck Jen you could always ask for a scan tomorrow to check amniotic fliud levels and placenta etc

CappuccinoCarrie · 28/08/2011 11:04

Congrats mrsC!!
40+10 here now. Have had lots of BH this morning, as frequent as 7mins apart, but they're no more painful than period pain and not lasting very long. Really hoping and praying they ramp up and turn into something proper. ILs arrive at tea time today to help out with the DCs when we have the induction on Tuesday...I so hope I'm in hospital before they get here Grin
All the best jen :)

Annie456 · 28/08/2011 13:46

neverlookback · 28/08/2011 14:27

Im back, literally just got of laptop gone to loo and when i wiped, there was a show! i had really bad backache yesterday and a few twinges but not much today fingers crossed for me its starting x

jspark123 · 28/08/2011 17:57

Sorry I have not been on for ages, things have been a bit hectic the last few days/week. I had a little boy, Henry James on the 18th August by forceps delivery in the end, all a bit traumatic and last minute as he had turned back to back during labour, but we are both doing well, and after a shaky start with the breast feeding, we are now managing okay and he is putting on weight. He is a hungry monster at the moment as he has hit the growth spurt day 10!
I will catch up on all the previous comments at some point and good luck to those still left over, not long now. I was 12 days overdue in the end! x

KTisPG · 28/08/2011 18:18

Fingers crossed for you Never

Congratulations JSpark

Fed up today. Really uncomfortable and I a bit bored - noones playing out cos of the bank holiday weekend so I'm having to try to entertain myself. Humph

CappuccinoCarrie · 28/08/2011 20:36

I am somewhat surprised to be telling you that I've had a baby!!!
After 2 weeks of stop-start, I had some twinges this morning, and by lunchtime it was apparent that this time they weren't going away. DH's cousin was due to be visiting us at 1ish so I texted to warn them I was in early labour but I didn't mind them coming if they didn't mind a bit of pacing from me. They arrived about 1:30 and although the contractions were every 2-3mins I could still talk through them. Suddenly at around 2:15 I had some I couldn't talk through though, and sloped off to the lounge to kneel over the birthing ball, thinking I didn't want to ruin everyone's afternoon. The pain quickly ramped up and I called DH through and got him to sort some childcare, and texted my best friend and second birth partner to say I really needed her now! Having had the experience with DD and DS of getting to hospital and being told I was only 2-3cm and therefore not 'in labour' I didn't want to go too early. Contractions were still 2-3mins apart and lasting less than a minute so although the pain was almost unbearable, my head said we shouldn't go in yet as they clearly weren't long enough to be doing any good. BF took over at this point (bless her) and phoned hospital and said we're coming in! Lovely friend arrived and took the DCs back to hers to play, DH's cousin and family left and we headed to hospital. I had several contractions during the very short car ride, and got down on hands and knees in the car park, the corridoor...everywhere on the way to be assessed. I was examined straight away, told I was 5cm, and staggered to the birth pool at 3:35. DS2 was born at 4:05! It was very very intense and I was quite shakey afterwards. My birth partners made an amazing team once again, they're utter legends. DS2 is 9lb 5oz and fills his newborn sleepsuit length wise already! He had a good feed which he then puked up, we were allowed home after 3 hours and we stopped en route for the now traditional fish and chips. I'm now in bed while the ILs (who happened to be coming up today anyway!) cuddle the baby. I can't quite believe it....think I'll be in shock for a while!
And now to start discussing names Grin

KTisPG · 28/08/2011 21:50

Congratulations Carrie

MrsStevo · 28/08/2011 22:11

Congratulations Carrie and Jspark. LOVE the birth story Carrie, all sounds very hectic! I have it on good authority that you were "amazing" and "a birth machine" though.

majormoo · 28/08/2011 23:00

Congrats jspark and Carrie. Fab birth story Carrie.

Hersetta · 29/08/2011 10:50

Congratulations Carrie

littlemisslozza · 29/08/2011 12:01

Congratulations jspark and carrie!! looking forward to hearing the last few birth announcements soon, can't be many left now.

Annie456 · 29/08/2011 15:30

TMI alert (sorry!)
Past couple of days i've had stabbing pains down there (right down there) and occasional burning sensation (but not when I pee). It's not red or enflamed but theres quite a lot of milky white discharge. I'm not going to call my midwife because he will just send me to the day assessment unit where I will sit for 6 hours to be seen but I'm just trying to work out whether it's worth going to see my doctor in the morning or if those stabbing pains are normal at this stage of pregnancy? (40+1)
Annie x

LouBeee · 29/08/2011 17:26

Hi Annie. I don't post much on here, just lurk usually but just wanted to say that I have had all those symptoms for about a week now (I'm 40+12) and was assured by the midwife that they are normal. apparently the shooting and burning is your cervix thinning and shortening in preparation and the discharge is just normal as things start to lubricate. All good signs I think although clearly in my case not of imminent labour! Hope that reassures you.

daisysair · 29/08/2011 20:56

Jessica Rose was born on Saturday 27th, weighing in at 9lb 14 - 13 days over due, induced on day 12. Amazing birth, will write birth story soon!
