i have to make that cake - been thinking about it for 2wks now!! haha glad we have the recipe. Havent weighed myself since the weekend but nibbling constantly and i am not talking fruit and carrot sticks!

Feeling fine past two days - am in that boat of happy nausea is gone but also a bit worried at the sudden disappearance of symptoms. Still tired though!

honeymoo i am in balham

MakkaPakkasWilly · 18/08/2011 10:23

I made that cake last night - win!
Very tasty, really nice served warm with vanilla ice cream.

However - if I made it again I might add some actual chocolate, just to make it a little more chocolatey. It's lovely as it is but if it were a little richer you could almost pass it off as a brownie!

zebedeethezebra · 18/08/2011 12:03

Yum! I put chocolate icing on mine! Anyone watching the British Bake Off on Tuesdays? Brilliant programme.

foots that's brilliant! glad all's well.

I've got a date for the 16th of Sept but I'm away, I've left messages at the hospital but they've not got back to me. I'm in tomorrow with DS so I'll go and knock on their door and hassle them. I want the scan before we go on holiday because it's a family holiday and it'd be nice to tell them with the scan behind us.
In other news I've just had to cancel a week down in Dorset end of next week cos I just can't stop retching (sorry tmi) and feel so knackered. The idea of a 4 hour drive with two little ones, a week in a strange place and then the drive back is just too much for me. DH is away for a month so I wanted it as a change of scene but I can't handle it at the mo. Gutted though cos I've been really looking forward to catching up with my friends and DD's friends :( Sucks...

KittyRogue · 18/08/2011 18:01

Yay foots!!! Your allowed to be selfish ESP. With new like this!!!

I am SO bloated/fat/showing! 10 weeks tomorrow and no letter with details of the scan :(

Love and hugs to all!

I know it's a little early, but have people started to think about when they will go on mat leave? I'm really worried about being heavily pregnant and slipping on ice whilst walking to work! That and work makes me so sleepy!!!!

Foots that's great news and not a selfish post at all! I got my scan date through today - 13th September. Can't come soon enough in some ways but I'm also now nervous - bit freaked out by the 'see how many babies you're carrying' bit of the letter and the 'mind-running-in-overdrive' thoughts like 'what if we get to 12 weeks and there's something wrong'! Is anyone else a mix of nerves and excitement about it??

On the ML front, yes I've already started thinking about it - primarily in terms of 'only 6 more months and I won't have to come to work - YAY' kind of way though.... Not sure that's necessarily the right attitude!! :)

KittyRogue · 18/08/2011 20:51

Iaabama totally thinking the same thing!!!!

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/08/2011 10:26

Great news foots!!
I guess everyone is a bit quiet and preoccupied before the scan. Ours is on Tuesday. I'm not too worried yet but DH is. He's a bit of a worrier and so is imagining all kinds of things that might be wrong.

There are twins in our families and so we'll both be waiting to hear if were getting a BOGOF. I'm pretty sure it's just one but DH is sure we're having twins!!

Regarding maternity leave..... For me it's a bit up in the air as we may have to move back to London towards the end of the year but won't know until September (DH job related). My plan is to leave ASAP (hate my job!!) and finish at Xmas then use annual leave allowance until I can legally start maternity leave in Jan.

Chulita · 19/08/2011 11:10

I went into the hospital today and changed the scan date to the 9th it's my birthday so it had better be good news!
I was kind of crossing my fingers for twins so I could retire my uterus after this round but then read that thread about the woman with twin boys and I'm a bit scared of them now, we'll just see what's there I think :)

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/08/2011 11:15

Thread about twin boys...... Is it a good thing I haven't seen this?!?

Glad you got your scan moved. Not long to go now

Chulita · 19/08/2011 11:19

It's a very good thing, I wouldn't go looking for it! She just said how full-on it was and the way she described it sounded awful! I won't link to it Grin

zebedeethezebra · 19/08/2011 13:50

Haven't got my scan til the 19th! Boooo! That's the private nuchal one anyway. I haven't had the NHS appointment yet. Its bound to clash with my hols because we are on hols during my 11 and 12 week which is a bit annoying because it means my scan has to wait.

When I was on maternity leave just before having DS it got really snowy and icy and I didn't dare leave the house for a week because I was so terrified of falling over, breaking my wrists and then not being able to hold DS when he was born. Its quite a worry. I fell over at 14 weeks with DS and it was fine. Apparently falls don't damage the baby I was told. Then a day after having DS I fell over in the special care unit where he was because someone decided to mop the floor right behind me and didn't tell me! Luckily I wasn't holding DS at the time, but I had a pretty bruised hip. Not great when you've just had a caesarean!

FlipFantasia · 19/08/2011 15:18

Hi ladies

Foots great news for you Smile. You must be feeling quite relieved!

Chulita my NHS scan is also on the 9th September, which is the day after we get back from 2 weeks in the States. Am sure it'll be a lovely birthday present for you.

Kitty interesting q about maternity leave. I went off at 36+3 with DS, but had some holiday to use up so "official" ML started at 37+2. I then went 2 weeks over and was comedy bored by the end of 5 weeks off! I think this time I'll try and work a bit longer (since I compress my full time hours into a 4 day week so won't have to schlepp in every morning). Whenever it was icy or snowy (quite common as was due 2 March 10) , I just "worked from home", which involved lots of lying around watching telly or online shopping for baby stuff since I can't really work from home. It was great and I'll definitely do the same this time!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

We had a second private scan today and it was lovely. Bubs is growing away, with a lovely strong heartbeat of 171bpm. Even got to see a 3d scan, but it still looked like a funny blob with tiny arms and legs budding. I feel a lot more reassured than after the 7 week scan, so I guess it's time for me to accept this is really happening. We're going to tell my family in Ireland this weekend (well, we'll tell my mum she's free to finally mention it to my siblings!) and then tell the in-laws when we head over to the States for our holiday on 25 August. As our NHS scan is the day I return to work after the holiday I'll tell my boss then.

ZhenXiang · 19/08/2011 16:07

Hi everyone,

Glad scan went well Foots :)

Had my dating and nuchal scan today and all looked good. Only one in there phew, am so big was worried it was twins. Legs and arms in the right places, 6.1cm and organs looking good so far.

Baby stubbornly took forever to get in a good position and had to go pee and then jiggle around lots to get it to move so sonographer could see to do measurements.

They put me at 12+4 so due date now 27 of February. Like Foots I am sticking to my March due date though which would be the 3rd March.

Nausea and vomiting still here in force, but seem to alternate between bad days and slightly better ones. Luckily today is a better one.

Am still sooo tired though.

Having been off chocolate altogether since I became pregnant I am tempted to start again with that delicious sounding chocolate cake.

Gingersnap88 · 19/08/2011 17:24

Haven't been on here in a while but enjoyed catching up on everyone's news :) like many of you I have also been thinking about being heavily pregnant in the snow and hope that I can "work from home"! That would be lovely.

I've had a bit of a stressful week. Last Sunday I had a bleed which spotted on and off until Tuesday. I had an emergency scan on Tuesday and baby is perfectly fine- standing on his/her head with little arm and leg buds Grin I'm currently 9w5. Our 12 week scan is on the 3rd of September (my mums birthday, she's excited) so I'm hoping all is well! It's been so stressful so far, I'd love this to be plain sailing.

As for ML, I'm on a fixed term contract until July so currently in talks with my employer who seems to think he only has to pay me until my contract ends Angry eurgh! I'm sure it'll be fine in the end.

So sorry for the self indulgent post- I really do enjoy reading your news though, it's odd to think we're all going through this at the same time!

ZhenXiang · 19/08/2011 20:09

Sorry to hear about your stressful week Gingersnap. Glad to hear that the baby is fine.

As for your employer I always find a strongly worded letter addressed to a more senior manager if possible and quoting the law does wonders.

Thinking of being pregnant in the snow, I remember the heavy snow in 2009 when the roads were impassable. I was 7 months and braved it hanging on to DH for dear life just in case I took a tumble.

This time round if it snows I will use the buggy for stability if I have to go out so near to my due date.

zebedeethezebra · 19/08/2011 20:44

Noooooooooooooo! I'm bleeding Sad

rollerbaby · 19/08/2011 21:03

Zebedee no! How much and how often? How far are you? Don't panic just yet...

Also got our booking in date 3rd and scan and bloods on the 6th. Feels like ages away but the constant nausea is in evidence, so clearly the hormones are doing their stuff still. Much less sicky than last time which is a relief. Moody as hell though.

When I had no 1 last November it was that ridiculous snow and we had the central heating on 24 hours a day for 6 weeks. I didn't go out for weeks because you just couldn't push the buggy along and there was no way I wold walk wiht him in the baby bjorn on the ice. It put me off having another winter baby, so I hope spring is kinder!

ZhenXiang · 19/08/2011 21:30

Oh Zebeedee I am crossing fingers that all will be ok for you.

My midwife told me if I had any bleeding I should take myself straight to A&E to get checked out.

If it is bright red even if you do not have cramping take yourself into A&E to be seen x

zebedeethezebra · 20/08/2011 08:55

It was brown and has stopped now. Waiting at EPU for a scan.

ZhenXiang · 20/08/2011 09:08

Hoping all is ok Zebeedee x

I had some brown spotting around 8 weeks (think around the time I would have had my period), it went away and baby is now 12+5 and looked fine yesterday on the scan.

I think brown blood is old blood and not so worrying as bright red blood, so really hoping that all is ok for you too with the scan.

zebedeethezebra · 20/08/2011 10:24

No heart beat and stopped growing at six wks Sad

That's it for me - I'm 45 in Jan so we won't try again. It was twins - they didn't need to tell me that.

So now I have to wait for proper bleeding to start.

We've got guests coming in an hour or so. How am I going to pullmyself together?

Good luck everyone - it's a really special time to treasure. I wish you all the best x
