Found out on sunday that were expecting our first baby in march!! Some online due date calculators say the 8th and some say the 10th so im not quite sure which one is right!!

Ive got my 1st doctors appointment tomorrow to confirm things

Has anyone else got the BFP and wants to celebrate?

broodylicious, welcome to the fold :)

Oh how I do love all the first timers getting long awaited BFP's! Warms my cockles.
Mine was a bit of a shock seeing as after 2 ops on my bits that went wrong I didn't think I could have another, but we did want one so I am pleased.

babydust27 · 15/07/2011 10:03

congrats -broodylicious-

Give your doctors a ring and get an appointment with your gp in the next few weeks. Make sure your taking folic acid and my gp told me to take a multi-vitamin as well and that it must contain vitamin D

I walked round in a daze for a week after my BFP!!

Im 6 weeks today and have just bought my 1st pair of maternity work trousers! I know its early but my others feel tight at the end of the day so i thought id order some for when the zip gives in!!

oh yes, broodylicious, what babydust said.
Except if you live in London go see the GP sooner rather than later as it can take a while for the referrals to come through.
Where I am if the hospital doesn't get your referral before 8 weeks you might not get your preferred hospital.

MrsCog · 15/07/2011 11:53

Been to gp who was very bleak, and didn't ask much, so now I'm very :( got scan on Monday morning as couldn't fit me in until then (also phoned private clinic and they were Monday as well.

I am a bit worried though as some of my symptoms have diminished a lot, feeling less sick and tired, boobs less achey. So really don't know what to think now. Going to spend weekend with everything crossed. Dh being great though so that's good.

pixelpeeper · 15/07/2011 11:55

MrsCog really wishing you the best :(
Have been there myself and it's horrible. Really thinking of you over the weekend, it's shit that you have to wait until Monday.

BitsyVonMuffling · 15/07/2011 11:56

MrsCog try not to be disheartened. My GP was also very matter of fact about my bleeding, I think some just have a better manner than others. I really think if you're still concerned you should go to A and E NOW so that the EPU is still open and you have a possibility of being seen. I have NO symptoms either, apart from tiredness, but tbh it's only a bit worse than is par for the course with my ds being so energetic Wink Do something lovely this weekend if you can and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you x

pixelpeeper · 15/07/2011 11:59

true if you blag it up a bit at A&E you can try and get a scan today??

Some A&E will tell you to go away but I found if I whinged of terrible pain in one side they scan you for ectopic pretty quick Grin

pixelpeeper · 15/07/2011 14:53

I kill threads

Reallea · 15/07/2011 15:39

Hi peeps, mrscog I do hope you have gone to a&e today and thats why we haven't heard from you since this morning..... All the stress of waiting till Monday can no way be good for you and your bean...

Reallea · 15/07/2011 15:58

Broodylicious, meant to say, round my way it's get to the gp ASAP to be referred for 12 week scan. The midwife visit happens around 8 weeks.

withoutanet · 15/07/2011 19:01

Welcome to the fold Broodylicious, and my compliments to your brilliant MN name!

MrsCog I hope you get an A&E scan and some peace of mind - my thoughts are with you.

Bitsy, glad I'm not alone in symptomlessness. My boobs don't hurt anymore, no proper morning sickness to speak of, just extreme exhaustion. (Can't even make it up the stairwell without feeling winded!) Oh, and I also seem to have a shorter fuse these days. Trying not to worry about the lack of symptoms, especially since we saw the Creature's heartbeat last Sunday...but you know how it can go with an emotional woman and an overactive imagination...

Shall we start signing off with our counts? It's nice to be able to keep track of everyone. And interesting to see the changes in our EDDs as we have our scans.

Oops, forgot to say that I hope everyone is having a lovely relaxing Friday evening!

BitsyVonMuffling · 15/07/2011 19:09

I am quite snappy too. I remember this from my previous pregnancies. I am not so sweetness and light in my first trimester Blush I think the tiredness exacerbates it. I've begun to think about seeing my GP so I can be referred the midwife team, but I still don't 'feel' pregnant, so it feels odd to be doing it. But I know I need to get my skates on to get a scan date. And I'd really like to try for a homebirth this time, so I want to get to meet the midwives, rather than just have a bunch of randoms wander in and out like they did during dd's birth. Am 4+6 today :)

ShaggingProducesResults · 15/07/2011 19:28

Hi all and happy Friday night. MrsCog I hope that you manage to get a scan before Monday. Will be thinking of you.

Done 5.5 hours driving today and am dead on my feet. Look dreadful, God knows what the patents are going to think!!!

Hope everyone has a restful, stress free weekend!!

I had some bright red blood last night :( Not an awful lot, and nothing so far this morning but this is the spur I need to get to my GP on Monday I think. Thinking of you as well today MrsCog x

sudocremdelacreme · 16/07/2011 14:16

Got back from holiday yesterday and started bleeding loads. Looking like a miscarriage. Nothing showing on scan so waiting on blood test results to confirm as test still says positive. Arse.

Wishing all of you healthy and happy pregnancies. X

Hello Smile

I've been lurking for a little while, but I'd like to join you ladies now that the reality of getting a BFP has sunk in a little.

I got my BFP last Thursday, due around 21 March and this is DC2. I had my DS in March 2010, so of course I think March is a great time to be due Smile

But I had a MC back in early April at 7 weeks, so feeling quite nervous and worried. So my thoughts are really with MrsCog and Bitsy and Sudocrem and anyone else with worrying bleeding.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. Just back from a pub lunch, where thankfully driving gave good cover for me not being my usual drinking self.

Went to see my neighbour today who gave birth at 3am on Friday morning after a very quick labour. Seeing the tiny baby asleep in its car seat made me more excited about the pregnancy rather than being in denial!

If only all labours could be so quick. Somebody on this thread asked me about my EMCS with my first DC. Sorry I can't find who it was but... the answer is - that I had a EMCS due to failure to progress. I was 11 days overdue, had two sweeps, was put on the maximum induction drip for the maximum amount of time and I was still less than 2cm dilated. By this time it was nearly midnight so, even though the baby was doing fine, they decided just to get it out. I was vomiting a lot and was not allowed an epidural due to a bleeding disorder so I think it was more an emergency for me rather than the baby :) I was so happy when they gave me the spinal block I could have kissed everybody in the room.

Anyway, I don't mind doing it again this time - I don't care how the baby comes out provided it comes out healthy.

Anyone have any thoughts on what sex they would like? Or which sex is supposed to be easier to look after?

Enjoy the weekend.

Fingers crossed for everyone with bleeding. Hope all turns out okay. I have insanely painful boobs today.

SantaLucia - We have a dd so a ds would be nice to get 'one of each'. DH only wants two kids so he is hoping for a ds for footie/fishing reasons. However a dd would be cheaper as have bags of clothes for girls already.

Really hope those with bleeding are ok! I went to the gp a couple of days ago and have my appointment with the midwife 3rd august. I'm a bit worried about this pregnancy as I have no sypmtoms at all other than sore boobs, I don't feel pregnant, I mentioned it to the GP and she said it's just because its still really early but with my first I had every symptom going and was throwing up at 4 weeks. I've had no bleeding and no cause for concern other than lack of symptoms but sometimes can't help worrying. I know every pregnancy is different and I should just try to enjoy being symptom free while it lasts.

mrsbrabbit · 16/07/2011 22:00

Hello everyone. DC3 is due around March 23. I think I'm 4 + 5. DD is four and DS is just 11 months. DC3 is a huge surprise, still trying to get my head around it. I'm still on maternity leave for DS and due back at work on 25/07. Slightly concerned about how I will be viewed at work which I know should be low down on my list of things to worry about. Unlike DD and DS who took quite a bit of effort, DC3 was conceived the very first time that DH and I had :) since DS was born! Will have a 19 month gap which is scaring me more than a little. I'm 39 the week after next (2nd day back at work). Looking forward to sharing the rollercoaster ride of the next 8 or so months with you all.

Sorry to hear about the bleeding Bitsy and Sudocrem, I hope it all works out ok for you and MrsCog x

SantaLucia - it was me that asked you, having read your experience I am not suprised you would go for ELCS, like you say so long as they are healthy. DH wants another girl (he has got really into DD, even though he did hope she was a boy before we knew). I don't mind, a girl would be cheaper and easier with regard to sharing a room in the longer term, but I will love the baby the same regardless of sex.

33kns - welcome and congratulations. Sorry to hear DH not being openly excited, he will come round in time. In the meantime we can be exicted with you yay!

No more bleeding for me so I feel a bit more positive tonight. I felt a bit faint today but I think that's probably more down to too much time in the sun. Hope everyone else is ok. I'm going to be first in the queue at the GP monday morning and hope for a bit of reassurance.

happyland · 17/07/2011 07:45

Morning all, how's everyone today? Finally told my husband yesterday. He is shocked, not too sure why as we were actually ttc?! Maybe he hoped it would take longer. Symptom wise, lots of cramping which I'm a bit nervous about. Just seems so early to get excited. Still definitely in a worrier phase.

Although, I did google a couple of buggies today....

Anyway, apart from your partners, who else have you told? Or are you all waiting till the magic 12 weeks?
