Ohh TTL sounds like the race is on! Hope you've had that leak checked. I've yet to leak anything at all (apart from my bladder a couple of days ago when I sneezed Blush) and am still at home. Contractions eased off this morning so we went out for lunch and a spot of shopping. That restarted them but still not enough. SIGH. Star please put your pompoms away, you'll wear yourself out waiting for my naughty LO!

Your ward sounds grim BB.

Welcome to the unbendy club Nickel. Hope you're feeling okay now.

Frak there have been a couple of recent grads, but they're still at the frightened to commit to us stage. Hope they feel safe to join us soon.

Ouch nickel I remember leaning over a railing and being surprised I didn't bend in the middle!

I've had a private room, free, since last Friday. But I'm now in a ward just off Special Care so that the babies are still close if needed and there is no private room option. Grr!

takethatlady · 30/06/2011 20:13

Hey girls - nickel and b2b I sympathise with the bump mismanagement Smile. Our bathroom is L-shaped and I now have to go on tip toes to hoik the bump over the sink as I go around to the loo Blush. I forget every time.

Didn't check the leak - had another one a bit later, but they're so minimal and it happened before and was nothing - at the hospital last time they were insistent that it would keep leaking if it was hind waters, so for now I'm just keeping an eye on it. Having what I think might be the odd contraction but very irregular (it's like a combination of period pain at the bottom of the bump and tightening at the top, and I'm just getting a couple an hour) and only lasting 10-15 seconds. So not sure if they're really contractions or if it's just the baby getting ginormous and squirming around and crushing my nerves, plus BHs.

Sorry your contractions eased off coaaf, but it sounds like things are progressing!

bb oh no ... I would go out of my mind I think. You will be home very very soon! Deep breaths!

My mum has driven me mad today - she texted me 3 times before I noticed, got my step-dad to text, then sent all the texts to DH, then rang us both but DH was driving and his phone was in his pocket and I'd left mine at home. DH texted her to say all was fine, not in labour, and then we decided to turn all the phones off and watch a film. When we turned them back on we both had 5 missed calls from her Shock. She is mad.

BrassicaBabe · 30/06/2011 21:13

Lol for your mum's madness ttl. Can we stick her somewhere with my mum who is equally driving me bonkers with texts so long they scrol off the page Angry ?!

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 21:55

Oooh, while your two mums are being put somewhere I will send mine too. I think I might have mentioned this on here . Was talking about people visiting after the birth and realised my mum thought she would travel up immediately (when the labour call comes through) and stay with me for a few weeks to help. Struggled to hide my shock as she isn't normally helpful or very motherly. Think she wants to beat the inlaws to seeing the baby. Nightmare!

BrassicaBabe · 30/06/2011 22:30

A few weeks b2b?! Shock Dear God no! I'm with you on that one

takethatlady · 30/06/2011 23:02

b2b God no, you need to put your foot down!!! Shock Shock Shock

I need to start making notes now of things not to do when this baby has her own baby, as grandmother mentalness seems pretty ubiquitous ;)

vallinnapod · 01/07/2011 07:31

Well we are officially back at my Mum's so we have no escape living in the same house Grin

She is off to the Edinburgh Festival so I am willing LO a couple of weeks early Wink She also mentioned to DH that she could go away for a couple of days once bub is here. Although I can't really see that happening! Also felt MASSIVELY guilty she even suggested it Blush

Am trying to get out of bed for work and failing!

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 09:31

I was so shocked I think I offended her. Couldn't really say anything to begin with. I suppose I'm lucky it came up in conversation or I would be dealing with this post labour. My amazing little sis has spoken some sense into her now. Sis talked about how she wanted to see the baby but her priority was making sure I was ok and doing lots of little visits to help out with cleaning etc. Smile

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 09:36

Stupid phone, wasn't finished post.

ttl I think you are right. I suppose seeing their baby having a baby makes them go a little strange.

Val hope you are settling in nicely. It will be good for you and dh to have some time to yourself in the house.

brassica did you get a decent sleep?

BrassicaBabe · 01/07/2011 10:08

Hmm Happy to talk about the weather Mrs Housekeeping-Staff, but what gave you the impression I wanted to talk about your mortgage woes?!! Shock

BrassicaBabe · 01/07/2011 10:12

And now she's moaning about her workload while hoovering next to my just asleep babies! Angry

hey-ho, you've got to laugh Smile

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 10:14

Oh dear, it doesn't get any better does it? On a more positive note how are your lovely twins this morning?

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 10:14

Cross posted Smile

takethatlady · 01/07/2011 10:21

baby2b your sister sounds great - I wish I had one to deflect the craziness (as I write this my mum is ringing me AGAIN). Sorry about the hoovering/mortgage chat bb Grin and good luck being back at home val - before you know it you'll have your LO and you won't care where you are :)

I had ten hours of contractions last night (55 between 1am and 7am according to the little table DH made of contraction lengths and gaps Grin). Had the TENS machine on the whole time which helped but sometimes they were utterly horrendous, and they got as close as 3 minutes apart lasting a minute each. But then they suddenly went to 7-8 minutes apart and now I'm only getting two or three an hour, and though they hurt a lot I can talk through them again now :(. Was sick twice too and had some tummy trouble, so I really thought everything was underway. Now it has all eased off really and I'm fed up, though lots of ladies on the June thread have cheered me up by saying this happened to them. Just hoping the contractions did something and will return later today.

Hope you are all well and that coaaf is getting further than me :)

vallinnapod · 01/07/2011 10:28

Unfortunately (you know what I mean!) my Mum is being great about everything which just makes me feel like an utter bitch when I get frustrated that she is in her own house Blush

DH is moving the final pieces of the flat today. Some more stuff back to my Mum's and then loads to his parents to store. Again, so lucky to have this option. They have given us a bedroom there for our junk which will save us near enough £1000 in storage fees.

BB I suppose the hoovering has to be done at some time but Hmm Well done on the small talk. I hate that random stranger chat, can't imagine I'll be hugely tolerant of it post birth!

God, have realised I am a class A bitch!

Sorry for the stop-start TTL - do they just let you go on like that until you are technically overdue? Must be knackering.

I am hoping radio silence from COAAF means Baby COAAF is on it's way!

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 11:15

ttl you need an automated voice service. Press 1 if you are checking on labour progress (diverts to annoying music for ages before announcing that there is nothing to report).
Press 2 if you have some gossip or something funny to tell me (allows call through).
Press 3 if you consider your call urgent (diverts to dh as it is still most likely mum or milGrin)

nickelbabe · 01/07/2011 11:17

I've just had a lovely visit from a friend of mine and son, who is now about 6 months old.
I told him I was pg, and he said his biggest tip was to really enjoy the first 48 hours - that the baby's got enough food to see it through (with a couple of top-ups) and that it feels like an easy job, parenting.
after that, he said, it goes downhill for a few weeks! Grin

nickelbabe · 01/07/2011 11:19

oh ttl - sorry it's going in fits and starts - this is where you need to keep going for walks! something always happens when you're too far away from home! Grin

fraktious · 01/07/2011 11:59

That's encouraging TTL! it happened to me too. If you can, try to rest in case this is the break between latent labour and stage 1 active labour.

Hoping to hear from coaaf soon!

Hospital is utterly pants sometimes, isn't it BB? Just turn over and pretend to go to sleep Wink

I'm glad my mother is on the other side of the world sometimes, although tbh she's rubbish with babies and never did the whole labour thing, found BFing a breeze and outsourced us ASAP.

aStarInStrangeways · 01/07/2011 13:51

It's times like this that make my mum being dead seem like a blessing Grin

ttl how annoying. Either rest up or get out for a walk, whichever seems like the most pleasant option. Hopefully your baby will get bored of being squeezed and decide to vacate the premises :)

vallinnapod · 01/07/2011 14:36

I thought I would make you chuckle.

DH said to me this moring "Do you remember having a go at me last night?" I had no recollection whatsoever. Apparently about 15 mins after falling asleep I have a massive rant about him moving and keeping me awake. He checked out the bump that was going great guns and thinks that this is who I was referring too Blush Feel terrible about both of them!!

Baby2b · 01/07/2011 15:02

star your post just made me splutter my tea everywhere Grin

Also love the idea of ranting at bump during sleep Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 01/07/2011 17:57

Well after a full 25 hours of stop start, getting no where contractions, things went from wooSad to wooh!Shock at about 8pm last night. By the time I realised if I stayed in the bath any longer I'd be stuck in there, up the stairs and therefore got out and to the hospital I was already 6-7cm dilated! Little Alba Elspeth Anne Confessions was born with a yell (from her not me) at 2.18 this morning. I love her, she's so adorable and smells just so nice.

Haven't caught up on the day yet, but hoping TTL's stop start night has finally progessed to baby as well.
