Ha! I made it to the next thread.

I HAVE ESCAPED!!! Grin So I'm finally on my laptop instead of stooopid iPhone. (I can't get the app to work Hmm)

Sorry you are still hanging around coaaf. Is it my imagination or is ttl quiet?! Wink

Babies still in SC, but I just couldn't take being in hospital any more Sad and needed to get out. So I'm "out" until 6 this evening. At the moment babes are in SC being fed every 3 hours, alternating nasal-gastric tube and bottles. If I'm there I do it, otherwise the nursing staff do the hard work. And they do all the work over night. However today/tomorrow they are going to move the babies into Transitional Care (TC) which means that the babes and I move onto a ward next to SC and I do ALL of the work! GrinShock (I'm "lodging" on the maternity ward at the moment) I think we're going to be in for maybe another 5-7 days.

Anyway, on to a MOST important question....I put on 2stone while pregnant. The babies alone weighed 11lbs. So HOW COME I've only lost 12 lbs?! No really, just how is taht possible?! Grr!!

to all

takethatlady · 29/06/2011 12:57

bb well done for busting out of there! So glad to hear the babies are doing well and moving closer and closer to coming home. As soon as you are out of the hospital I bet the pounds will drop off. Am impressed you only put on 2 stone while carrying twins! I have put on 2 stone and am pretty pleased with myself for not putting on 3 or 4 and I only have one baby in here!

It's not your imagination I went quiet. But it was only because MN lost my fecking post Grin Angry

The post basically said how sorry I am for esk's friend, but that I think esk is really doing the right thing not contacting if she only heard about it indirectly. Really really sad, and I hope the friend is getting lots of support. It reminds me that I really shouldn't whinge about being overdue when I'm so lucky to have a LO nearly ready to be born.

Still, I'm not going to stop whining on Grin

vallinnapod · 29/06/2011 13:03

I am sure it will be fine COAAF - you just need a jump start Grin

Enjoy your freedom BB - sounds like you will not get much more Wink I am sure they won't let you flounder whilst still in hospital!

Well done on only 2st gain. I am up to 1.5 with 9.5 weeks to go (OMG, SINGLE FIGURES!!!) I really, really don't want to go over 11st (was 9 pre-PG). Just seems like a significant bench mark in my mind...Obviously, as long as baby is fine weight is secondary honest. I have no idea but maybe your milk loaded boobs have added some of the weight that used to be baby?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/06/2011 22:19

This is the closest to a live labour thread you're going to get out of me. Mild contractions aprox every 20 mins for the last few hours. I've folded laundry, washed dishes and had the odd random twinge in my left nipple.

So far it's just like with DS, so I'm expecting to get some sleep tonight and have it all kick off tomorrow. And if I'm wrong and we need to get someone into baby sit DS during the night, at least there is chocolate cake on offer Grin

Eskarina · 29/06/2011 22:27

Oooh COAAF very good luck to you and Mr COAAF. Hope it all goes well and calmly. You could have a baby in your arms by this time tomorrow - how exciting. Don't forget to let us know how you're getting on when you can xxx

Dynababy · 29/06/2011 22:44

Woop woop for contractions COAF I hope you get some sleep, the labour you've hoped for and a lovely healthy cuddly baby at end!!

BB sorry to hear the babies and you need to be in for a few days yet, hope you get them home soon .. and the weight will come off quick ..very Envy of only 2 stone gain and twins.. 2.5 here and 37 weeks with one Hmm

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 30/06/2011 08:48

Things are getting there slowly. Still at home, but hoping things kick off soon. Think my bath is going to be my best friend this morning. But for now I'm having chocolate cake for breakfast Grin

Hope you had a good rest from the hosp BB. Good luck with the move to the TC unit.

Sending some spare labour vibes your way TTL.

for everyone else.

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 09:04

Good luck for today coaf. Chocolate cake and a bath sound like an ideal start to the day Smile

Hope you get settled nicely in the new ward brassica and feel refreshed after your little hospital escape time.

I have had a stomach upset for the past couple of days, so just taking it easy. Dh is off the whole of next week so looking forward to some extra tlc.

My good news is a friend just messaged me a picture of her 12 week scan. It is amazingly clear. Really excited for her as she wasn't even trying as she thought she knew she couldn't conceive.

Hope everyone is having a good morning. Joins coaf in sending ttl labour vibes. The race isn't over until the .... baby cries?! Grin

takethatlady · 30/06/2011 09:24

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaah coaaf Smile! Congratulations on things getting moving! Since you are a week ahead of me I can be very excited for you with no Envy (well, okay, only a tiny bit of Envy). Glad you got some sleep and that things are progressing. Chocolate cake is a great idea! Can't wait to hear you've had your LO - really hope all goes brilliantly.

I thought things might be happening here yesterday - I walked down to Tesco's (about half a mile away) with DH at about 8.30pm and by the time I got there the baby was putting lots of sharp pressure on my lower abdomen/groin area and it was hard to walk. We meandered back and then for the next three hours I kept getting recurrences of this really weird sharp, pressure-filled pain. Don't think it was contractions but I thought it might be the start of something. It wasn't anything though as it all petered out and I have only just woken up (DH a teacher, on strike today). Whenever I go for a wee though (which is all the time) the pressure returns. The baby
STILL hasn't dropped so God knows what it is.

Then (TMI TMI TMI!!!) when I got out of bed a big trickle of water ran out of me and down legs and I thought my waters were going to break. But nothing else happened. Hoping these are signs that things might happen in the next few days. But nothing doing apart from that.

baby2b really pleased for your friend :) I hope for coaaf's sake that the race is over otherwise I reckon she's in for a week-long labour or something horrendous Shock!

bb thinking of you back in your prison but a day closer to getting home with Barnaby and Meredith :)

vallinnapod · 30/06/2011 09:27

Oh COAAF - exciting Grin Good luck - well done on the cake for brekkie! You need that sugar!! Make sure you put some in your hospital bag!

It was our last night in the flat :( (Although we are yet to exchange and due to complete tomorrow Hmm) Surprisingly not too :( about it. Not having any hot water helps and my urge to nest is overwhelming so can't wait to get to my Mum's and assemble the crib, sort baby clothes etc! Pretty sure the bog standard hormonal tears will be in full flow tonight!

I am relying on a Baby COAAF or Baby TTL to cheer me up Wink BTW do we know if TTL is in labour or just an AWOL assumption?

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 09:46

ttl my midwife said that the waters breaking could just be a little trickle to begin with and to call in to report it. I'm sure someone wiser will verify. (naive first timer emoticon)

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 09:48

Val glad you are feeling positive about the move. It will be good to get organised. If it does get too much you can keep bringing any rants here Smile

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 09:50

coaf last minute tip. Three different people have recommended taking sports drinks or sachets (the marathon kind) for an extra boost when tired. Agree with Val about taking the cake with you Smile

aStarInStrangeways · 30/06/2011 10:19

Go COAAF! I shall shake my pompoms till the baby arrives (that's not a euphemism btw).

val also nesting furiously here. It's a very strange feeling, I'm not usually one to reach for the Dettol. Had horrible stressy afternoon yesterday so DS and I are still in our pyjamas Blush

vallinnapod · 30/06/2011 10:38

PMSL Star I much prefer the mental image of you vigorously shimmying your chest in every direction Grin Sorry for the crappy arvo yesterday, enjoy the PJ day.

TTL totally crossed posts with you earlier. Fingers crossed for more inappropriate gushings!

nickelbabe · 30/06/2011 11:07

ooh, coaaf - how exciting!
has anything happened yet?

fraktious · 30/06/2011 11:13

Go COAAF and TTL!

TTL take that as your waters going and follow your area protocol. You need to get checked if nothing happens to see whether it was waters or not. If it was and you're not in established labour relatively soon after it puts baby at risk of infection.

We're cheering you on and hope to see you both in postnatal soon Grin

vallinnapod · 30/06/2011 11:41

This thread is going to get very quite soon!! I think most people are due in the next few weeks :(

vallinnapod · 30/06/2011 11:41

Sorry - obviously very Grin at all the babies. The :( is for the Grad chat!

fraktious · 30/06/2011 12:31

It that's why we have just mummy vallinna - then we can all keep in touch Grin

Anyone in touch with the shaggers? Any more recent grads?

BrassicaBabe · 30/06/2011 14:57

Yeah coaaf and ttl! Grin

hiya everyone! Can't post personal comments because iPhone is a pain in the arse!!

OMG I'm now on a ward with the Great Unwashed. A shared telly and too much talk of abusive OHs, sun newspapers and social services Shock ....I'm a snob...get me out of here!!!

vallinnapod · 30/06/2011 15:06

OMG BB I sympathise! Any idea of time? Is it possible to pay for a private room?! (That said, at our hosp, it is £250 per night Shock)

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 15:21

Oh brassica that is crap. Sad It isn't snobby to want peace and not to be subjected to drama when you are in a ward. Hope you get out soon.

nickelbabe · 30/06/2011 16:50

BB - bloody hospitals.
I was given a private room once - cos i was highly contagious.
It was great!
the only other time i've been in hospital, i was stuck on a ward with old ladies and complainers (not very nice of me, because the complainers were in pain Blush ) but it does disturb sleep a lot

I've just been a bit foolish - I had to put some pictures in my windopw, down the front, so i got on the chair and leaned right over.
It hurt. :(
I'm getting to fat to lean onto things.
And i made myself feel sick too, with the leaning.

Baby2b · 30/06/2011 17:18

Ouch nickel, it is so easy to think we can still do everything. I keep misjudging how big I'm getting. Key culprits are public toilet cubicles ( closing door on bump) and car parks (thinking I will be able to walk in between two cars if I turn sideways and then getting stuck at the wing mirrors) Blush
