Glad all is well Vallinna. My bump has been less active today, I think it's due to the heat too, but does perk up when I drink something cold.
We've also got antenatal tonight. I'm getting a little fed up of hearing about labour. At this rate we'll have spent longer talking about it than it will actually last [naive and hopeful]

My bag isn't a real change bag, but a pretty satchel from Ness that I found in Edinburgh when we were there. I was p'd off because I loved their clothes but at 5 months pg at the time I couldn't have any so DH suggested a bag to cheer me up. It's pretty pink and green tartan (so won't match a red pram - bugaboo bee plus incidentally)

Too hot.

takethatlady · 27/06/2011 17:01

Good news vallinna :)

eskarina love the Bugaboo Bee Plus - it was my first choice but we ended up going for a Quinny Zapp Xtra (in red - no purple option :( ), mainly for cost reasons and because both are small, compact, and turn easily. We did waaaaaay too much about birth at antenatal - and about four hours of it was on the delivery of the placenta, I'm sure. We didn't cover (beyond noting that they exist and have pros and cons) epidural, caesarean, or anything but 'normal labour' (hate that phrase) in any detail, either. And we spent less than half a class on baby care. I really enjoyed my antenatal classes and really like all the people I met there but in hindsight, I don't feel I learned that much at all! Just an excuse to meet people, really ... (but worth it for that).

Wow Frak mightly impressed (and slightly jealous) of your late pregnancy gym routine. SPD with a heavy preschooler in a pushchair make more than a slow waddle very unenjoyable, so I've been a right lazy thing this pregnancy (yet seem to have put on less weight). That said I did just walk into town and back. The one bonus of it not being hot Grin (so neh [tongue] yourself Nickel)

Good news on you LO Vallinna (and good work getting in a sneaky nap).

Eek, a new thread! Been on holiday for a week and now have masses to catch up on. Back in a bit, hope everyone is well :)

vallinnapod · 27/06/2011 21:25

Thanks ladies!

We were tempted by a Bee but got an Uppababy Vista instead (similar size to the Chameleon)

One more antenatal left to cover postnatal. It was all about intervention this week. Was pleasantly surprised to hear I can completely refuse forceps (meaning progressing straight to a c-section - which I want to avoid also...) We do have one really annoyingly stupid frustrating couple. Their question this week was why weren't c-sections standard, was it because surgeons weren't very good at them Shock The week before it was the lady was very scared of needles but wanted an epidural, what could they do? OK, I actually 'get' this question but they just didn't seem to get the concept of being more scared of the pain or the needle.

aStarInStrangeways · 27/06/2011 22:27

Ooh, congratulations BrassicaBabe! Wonderful names and weights, welcome to the world little babies :)

Baby2b · 28/06/2011 08:56

Morning, finally have some sunshine Grin

Grumpy posted early yesterday and didn't get back on. Blush Will add settlers tums to my shopping list.

Got my 32 week midwife appointment today. Not worried though as little one is very active and tighter clothes mean bump is growing!

Glad to see everyone else is doing well. Smile

Baby2b · 28/06/2011 09:00

ttl I feel like I learned alot and it opened dh eyes to parent hood at the classes. However, the split was similar to yours and could really have done with more on looking after the newborn. Lots of contradictions to outside advice.

nickelbabe · 28/06/2011 09:47

a walk is a good plan coaaf - especially if you're in almost constant pain.

blimey vallinna ! Shock what a twatish couple!

vallinnapod · 28/06/2011 10:02

In admin hell Angry Angry Angry

We move back to my Mum's on Friday so made a big long list of all the addresses I needed to change, plus did a Royal Mail redirection, just to make sure. I then open my wallet and find a million and one loyalty cards other things I had forgotten.

Then got in to a heated debate about suspending my gym membership during mat leave (corporate membership so not quite as easy as personal) - was initially told I had no choice but to continue paying until December Hmm Now have a 9 month suspension which I will brace myself to argue up in May Grin

Then tried to have a sensible conversation about what to do with my work Blackberry during mat leave. We basically pay for everything and then claim business expenses back. On mat leave you can't claim expenses so I wanted to suspend this/have the option to claim it back - even if it was a year later. Still no answer....surely I am not the first woman at this firm to be asking these questions?!

Smile
nickelbabe · 28/06/2011 10:15

don't worry about the change of addresses. I think I've sorted all mine out now, and I moved 2 years ago! Grin
(that's the beauty of having a Postie for a DH, he can bring me anything sent to my old house!)

You might need that gym membership when you've had the baby - just so you can fel like you're getting back into shape (and to give you an hour's break from the baby!)
(disclaimer: I have no idea whether this is accurate or not)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 28/06/2011 10:19

We're still changing our address with companies over 2 months later Vallinna. Actually I recently changed the address on a couple of things that were going to the flat we moved out of 2 years ago Blush (we had the same postie at the 2 places and he was great, just did what Nickel's DH does for her).

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 28/06/2011 10:51

I can't cope with this heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[aaarrrgghhhh]
:(

When I finally got round to changing my address on my business bank account (omg was that a fucking hassle! they're stills ending ATM envelopes to my old address, even though they assure me it's been changed and everything else come to my new address!), I went into the branch (Abbey),(santander Hmm ),and the lady said "ooh, there's a dormant account in your name, can you confirm it's definitely you?" I said i'd never had an account with abbey before, so she listed all the building societies they've taken over - turns out it was my old Bradford and Bingley account! so I had to reel through all my old addresses, to work out which one it would still have on the records!

vallinnapod · 28/06/2011 12:02

URGH - 'puter ate my post!

Was lamenting living in a big city and not getting the personal (or uber personal in Nickel's case Wink) touch of a local community. Not sure our postman even does the other side of the road here!

I do very much want to keep gymming but where we are moving to is Fitness First free so I will join a local one (think there is a Nuffield). That does mean I have a few weeks (potentially 6) before the birth with no gym and about the same when I would like to be exercising afterwards. Was thinking of getting one of those stepper things and some arms weights for home. Walking a lot pre-brith and getting running again as soon as I can afterwards....cos I am sure I will have the time and inclination Wink!

Eskarina · 28/06/2011 22:07

We had a mad weekend. 3 different lots of visitors. My brother and his g/f on Friday night, my parents on Saturday (they only text me on Friday eve to say they were camping about an hour from us and would drop in Hmm. When I said no they suggested coming up for a whole weekend sometime soon (bear in mind they're camping here for most of August) so we changed our mind and suggested they came for dinner!) and then some uni friends from Sweden on Sunday staying overnight. Was knackered.

I'm impressed by all this gym-going. I gave up at a few weeks, though I hope to go back. Not sure how though as time is short in the evenings and tbh the only way I could get myself to go regularly was to drive straight there from work. That won't work even when if I do go back as I want LO to go to a childminder in the village near my school not in the town where I live (and where the gym is). Must admit to being really crap at doing exercise since becoming pg having got quite good at it beforehand. Tried to keep doing tap dancing but SPD-type thing stopped that, same with evening walks and doing the Wii-Fit. Hips do seem better though so I should get my Davina DVD out and get out for walks more often.

I found out today that a colleague had a m/c over the weekend. Would never have guessed she was pg but apparently she was nearly 12 weeks. Really feel for her. Can't send her a text or anything though as it seems weird when I heard the news indirectly.

vallinnapod · 29/06/2011 09:28

After all my whiney posts recently I wanted to pop on and say thanks for putting up with me!

Great moment last night as bub definitely had hiccups. Quite funny to watch!

nickelbabe · 29/06/2011 10:06

i thought the whole point of the thread was to offload all the whinges? Confused
that's what I've been doing ! Grin

sharing the ups and downs, and ins and outs.

nickelbabe · 29/06/2011 10:06

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/06/2011 10:17

you jsut wait till you're actually doing a nout - then you'll regret moaning about it! Grin

nickelbabe · 29/06/2011 10:55

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/06/2011 11:04

Like I regret helping DS make a robot when I'm tired? Grin

I'll be so happy being in excrutiating pain to regret whinging about it. (impatient, me?)

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 29/06/2011 11:09

you really do have to do a live birth thread.

vallinnapod · 29/06/2011 11:27

Awh COAAF...have they mentioned the 'I' word yet?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/06/2011 11:55

I really do NOT thank you Nickel.

It's booked for Friday, so either way by this time next week I WILL be having new baby snuggles. Feeling a bit sulky today. I feel like the last few months have just all gone shit, so of course it stands to reason the same will happen with the birth as well . I shall be sourcing chocolate later and I know that will make me feel better.

How's everyone else?
