Ha! I made it to the next thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Baby2b · 20/08/2011 11:31

I did ask my mum why she thought I would keep the most important event in my life a secret much to her Blush

vallinnapod · 20/08/2011 20:44

DH just built the crib Grin Bound to delay bub's arrival by about a fortnight now!!

Baby2b · 20/08/2011 21:33

Val I know I ask you this weekly but what is your due date again? I think you are a week behind me?

Love that your crib is up and ready :)

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 06:14

4th Sept! 38 weeks today Grin

Now decided that bub should hang in there for at least 1 sept so he is the big boy in his year at school - don't you I've how I still think u have any sort of influence over his arrival?!

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 06:14

*I

Baby2b · 21/08/2011 07:21

The cut off for school here is December/ January, so I don't really mind. I still think my little one is going to come on time...oh, that would need to be today or tomorrow then! Grin

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 07:28
Grin

All quite on the Esk front.....!!

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 07:31

Just checked out the CAB website and I could defer school entry if I wanted by a term or even a year.

Currently debating whether I have trapped wind or contractions Confused Pretty certain it is the former Grin

Baby2b · 21/08/2011 08:41

Yep, hopefully little esk has made it safely into the world. Can't wait for an update Smile

Off to spend the day with family.

Really feel like snoozing, but staying active is what's going to get this baby out. Speaking of which...very proud of managing to js last night. Grin

Fingers crossed for lots of contractions Val. Every twinge is under suspicion in this house Blush

Baby2b · 21/08/2011 08:44

Just realised that if I get induced it will be by the 3rd September. This race could be closer than I originally thought Grin

Eskarina · 21/08/2011 09:28

Morning. Sorry for going quiet. We went back in for monitoring yesterday and the midwives couldn't work out why we were sent in (and had no record of us being asked to go). Lovely midwife was very cheery and reassuring and said things like "it's not particularly small and what would we do at this stage anyway? Big or small it's gonna come out one way or another". Heart rate was fine and we were in and out within 40 mins.
Have been knackered though so sleeping lots. Contractions have tailed off somewhat. I can't work them out. I've been for lots of long walks. Sometimes they seem to augment contractions, other times walking seems to make them bugger off entirely. Sometimes laying down and focusing on breathing/sleeping/relaxing speeds them up, sometimes it slows them down. I woke up at 5 thismorning and was getting stronger ones, not sure how frequent but definitely more often than every 10 mins. Did the relaxation from the natal hypnotherapy CD and all seemed good. Decided to get up and walk around (and eat as was starving!). Went to the loo and Pooof! all gone and have had very little since.
T'is all very frustrating.

Fingers crossed for both of you. I'm desparate that I want an August baby for this school year. Think I would be induced on 28th as long as they don't shut the hospital down for bank holiday.

xxx

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 09:43

Def trapped wind Blush. Just been back to sleep for a couple of hours an feel amazing Grin. B2B - DH won't participate in any JSing activity as he is desperate for us to go the the cricket finals in Birmingham next w/e Hmm

Welcome back Esk! You clearly have a cosy baby! Just think, at the latest you will have a baby this time next week Grin

Baby2b · 21/08/2011 17:39

Good luck esk. Don't these babies know we are eager to meet them Grin

Val I got dh while he was sleepy and his defences were low Grin. Every other time we have over thought it and ended up laughing at the awkwardness.

Baby2b · 21/08/2011 17:40

I really need a new nick name. Will add that to my list of things to do while waiting Smile

takethatlady · 21/08/2011 22:21

Oooh esk how exciting :) Walking definitely brought on my contractions - they were already there but they got stronger, and then I think walking also dislodged my plug Grin Blush. I hope you're not reading this but in labour!

val 38 weeks already :) Glad you got the cot up too. Things are moving fast on here! Grin about the sneeze and wee. I have been religiously doing my pelvic floor exercises since the birth and thinking I'm doing a good job, but yesterday tried to stop weeing (while on the toilet) to see if I could. I couldn't. So god knows what muscles I've actually been exercising Blush

Anyone know what's happened to bb? I really should go and check out the postnatal thread :)

vallinnapod · 21/08/2011 23:18

TTL I love that you felt you had to clarify to use that your attempt to stop weeing was whilst on the loo Grin Pelvic floor muscles are now a complete mystery to me. Thought i was doing a great job with mine! Oh well!! I guess maternity pads will serve a dual purpose for a while Wink Hope you are having lots of mummy fun!

Very wiggly baby here tonight, my bedding is soaked in clary sage which certainly makes him move around (not down and out though!) We had a picnic for a friend's 1 year old today which was so rock 'n' roll for me I had to have a 2 hour nap when I got home!

MW tomorrow AM. Anyone know if she will do an internal? I actually want one as we are away next w/e however if my cervix looks like it is doing labour ready things in will reassess!

Right, bedtime. Just bracing myself for DH to crash in after a day at the cricket!

takethatlady · 22/08/2011 08:38

Grin vallinna - I thought as I was writing it that you might be picturing me just randomly weeing myself on the bus or something. Considering the state we're all in it didn't seem that far-fetched Grin Grin.

Good luck with the MW! I hope she tells you you're 2-3cm and ready to burst (or if not that the baby is all the right way round and ready to go).

We had a very very grumpy baby yesterday - lots of screaming and generally unhappy. Then today she wakes up and the world is absolutely hilarious Grin. She threw up all over herself as I tried to give her her first feed, and then just burst out laughing. Nappy changes are the height of comedy apparently, as am I and her dad and her Winnie the Pooh teddy bear, which seems to keep telling her jokes. Now she's on her play mat practically wetting herself in joy Grin :)

(I really should stop talking about wee ...)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 22/08/2011 10:05

Hey TTL good to hear all is going well with you and Isobel. Aren't little babies a delight when they are being so random?! Grin Alba is a chilled out, smiley little girl (with the funkiest natural mo-hawk!) which is just as well as her big brother LOVES her and is always givng her kisses and cuddles in an over enthusiatic 3 year old manner. DH is doing better than he was, but is still a long way from being back to 'normal'. This means he's at home most of the time, but sadly not very helpful on the housework front.

I must admit I'm quite looking forward to the latest round of new babies with out being involved. I don't miss being pregnant at all (ask me in a year though, I might have changed my mind!).

Hope something happens for you very soon Esk

cowboylover · 22/08/2011 11:53

I conned my MW to get an internal as I went in and said I thought my waters had gone so she checked for me Blush so I hope yours is cooperative but if not fib!

Feeling for you all as everytime I see a pregnant lady Im glad its not me!!

Having a baby is wonderful and there are so many days that I can't believe how good life is! I'm sure she thinks her name is Pudding as we call her that all the time. This morning she looked so proud of herself when she managed to grab her foot for the first time Grin

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 11:55

Nada really to report from the MW. No internal - she said it wasn't worth it Confused. Thankfully she was very relaxed about my w/e away too - just said to take my notes and know where the nearest maternity ward was Grin Back to 2/5 engaged. Good HR. Bump measuring 36.5cm - he has previously been bang on the cm for the week he is but absolutely no concern over this she says it is just because he is now burrowing down into my pelvis Grin Raised the fact I was a little concerned I haven't put on any weight since I could remember. But again she was very unconcerned. All my weight gain was in the first 18-20 weeks, had none really since then. Think I have put on about 1.5 stone. Certainly been packing away the food so wondering where it had gone!

I love the amused baby TTL! I still get days like that Grin

I hope we get a mohawked bub COAAF!! Glad DH is improving but it must be tough on you nonetheless. I hope you have enough support [hugs]

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 11:57

LOL Cowboy I lied to the MFAU a couple of weeks ago about my waters to get my Group B Strep swab! I am pretty sure she would have had a fumble had I really insisted Smile

nickelbabe · 22/08/2011 12:01

pelvic floor. mine is shot.
i've tried and tried, and nothing doing. Blush

Had a big day yesterday. We decided that we needed to do something else in the baby's room, so we went to put another (and the final!) shelf in the wardrobe.
DH sawed the wood ,and I (eventually) got ready to drill the holes.
first of all, couldn't find the screws, because for some reason DH needs to keep those private Hmm it was actually that they were on the floor in the study, and not with the toolbox like everything else.
This was discovered after i'd spent 10 minutes clambering around the garage looking for screws.
anyway, drilled holes in the battons - first of all with the wrong drill bit, because DH handed me the drill, the chuck key and the drill bit, so I assumed it was the right one - no, he'd given me the one for the wall, when I can't drill the wall until I've drilled the battons. So then I got a bit grumpy (but not much, i promise! Grin ). so I drilled the battons, changed dthe drill bit to drill the wall, made one hole in the wall then felt sooooo knackered I couldn't do anymore.
it came on very suddenly (and i wonder if it was more to do with me being fed up of faffing around!), and I had to stop and laze. DH finished it.

andthen we broke the bed down Grin
that was goooooooood fun
now the room looks huge even though it's got loads of stuff in it still (lots for chairty, though).
I wanted to paint, but I wouldn't have had the strength!

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 12:27

I have Envy at nurseries!! Cannot wait to be in the house and properly directing DH rround nesting. Have found some gorgeous wallpaper. The baby is getting the most expensive (out of the stuff we have chosen for the rest of the house!) It's really cool (well, I think so Grin) Quentin Blake alphabet wallpaper. We have got some relly nice Disney prints we are getting framed to put on the walls and then I am going to attempt to make curtains/cot bedding etc out of yet-unknown material (the quentin blake material is far too expensive for my amateur sewing skills!!)

nickelbabe · 22/08/2011 12:53

sorry! Grin
I'm pretty sure we now have everything to decorate the room.
We have dark blue paint for the bottom of the wall, lime-ish (well, quite bright) green paint for above-the-light-socket-height, a paper lampshade with space rockets on, a space rocket/planets border, space rocket door knobs and new addition a pair of space planets curtains!! (were used in the shop for a space display once, so i've put the curtain tape back on and washed and ironed them)

We still need gloss paint (for the wardrobe doors and the blue cupboard), but we can't decide whether to paint them white (the blue cupboard is already white), or whether to paint them in a dark blue.

Eskarina · 22/08/2011 13:27

Your nursery sounds very funky Nickel. Well done for getting it done.
When do you move in Val?

Still nothing much going on here. If i concentrate I can feel contractions so they're probably just BH. Going for another sweep shortly. Will be 40+7 tomorrow so I'm hoping they'll sort out booking me in for induction today as otherwise I can't see the mw again until weds. I'm not sure what the hospital will do about the bank holiday, whether they'll have the staff to do inductions.

I've been really down and weepy. DH has been wonderful. This morning an iPad arrived Grin as a surprise. I'd said I wanted one and we'd agreed we'd sort it soon. I'm not feeling so down now. It was almost worth flashing my knickers at the UPS man for Blush (was halfway through getting dressed so ran downstairs in dressing gown and undies when heard the door Blush. Thank God I had the undies on!!)
