OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nickelbabe · 22/08/2011 13:40
Grin haven't done any of it yet! (apart from the inside of the wardrobe)

ooh, well done on the ipad! Grin i'm guessign it doesn't beat having the baby though?

nickelbabe · 22/08/2011 14:46

DH's sister has come up with an old-wives'-tale gem.
Apparently, boys kick more and girls roll more, so that's how i'll tell what it is. Hmm

what i can't work out though, is how to tell the difference between kicking and rolling , cos it all feels the same to.... Confused

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 15:37

Oh Nickel - loving the colours and the theme!! I have had more (actual!) sleepless nights over how to decorate the nursery than any other room!! According to your Sis-In-LAw I am having a hermaphrodite Grin He is a kicker and a roller!!

Ohhh, good surprise Esk!! Worth flashing the UPS man for! Can totally understand the emotions. I think they may book your induction at the next appt. For me I have a MW appt at 40+1 for a sweep and then a 'Prolonged Pregnancy Clinic' (what a name!) appt at 41+1 where if things are still stationery I will have an induction booked - my hospital policy is to induce at 41+5 (I think!) so that you are done by 42 weeks (from what I remember from the antenatal sessions) Fingers crossed I will need none of these. Have acupuncture on Weds - am hoping she will stick me in inducing type places!

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 15:38

PS - I have an uber active baby and REALLY sore boobs...any of this an indication of labour?!?!

I never really got to symptom spot with pregnancy so this is all new for me Grin

nickelbabe · 22/08/2011 15:40

Grin at hermaphrodite

talking of going over - I have decided that if the baby is 42 weeks and the waters broke over 96 hors ago, then I might let them interfere.

I'm the only woman alive who is hoping to go over! It makes my work life so much easier - the closer to the holidays I can have the baby, the less I have to worry about who is going to look after the shop.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 22/08/2011 16:30

Val DD has a mo-hawk because she has a double crown (and was born with inch long hair that is getting longer and thicker every day!!!). She'll never be able to have a short pixie hair style because of this. Still at 7 weeks old it just looks adorable Grin

vallinnapod · 22/08/2011 18:35

Cuteness!! The pixie crop will be so over by the time she minds Grin

Baby2b · 22/08/2011 18:51

Hello ladies, due date here and nothing to report Sad Had been feeling very relaxed about the baby coming when he is ready but have been really down today....hormones!

Love the nursery ideas, they sound like they are going to be gorgeous.

coam keep the cute baby stories coming, she sounds adorable. Smile

Eskarina · 23/08/2011 11:38

Aw Baby I wish I could say it gets easier, but I'm exactly a week overdue and quite fed up. Sending you positive labour thoughts.

In slightly positive news I think I'm having a very gradual show. But then again it could just be from the sweep. It's not very much but it has the "pork pie jelly" quality (this is getting like examing pant snot for ewcm!)
Which reminds me that DH insisted that pork pies are his snack of choice for taking to hospital. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to look at one again!

Induction is booked for sunday. I do hope baby comes before then, not least because my parents are due to go home on monday and it would be very sad for them to have been camped here (yes literally) for 2 weeks then to miss it. They can't really extend their stay either because a) Dad really ought to go back to work (though he's the boss so he can just not go if he wants to!) and more importantly b) there's a big meeting to arrange care for my grandma next wednesday that my parents really need to be there for.

vallinnapod · 23/08/2011 11:54

I don't have a leg to stand on with 1.5 weeks to go to DD but I do feel your hormonal 'pain' on the waiting.

I was awake from 1:30-5am this morning :( Really tired but just couldn't drop off, then felt like the baby was going to explode through my ribs, so uncomfy! Did sleep in until 10am but just so over it. At least waking up a million times a night with a crying baby serves a purpose, hell, I'd have taken waking up for a wee every hour but the random awakedness...pah!

Blurgh at the pork pie esk! I hate them at the best of times! Really hope your parents get to meet the bub!

KateeTheBump · 23/08/2011 12:00

nickel wrt pelvic floor exercises, a good tip I learned in yoga was to do them on an out breath as then your diaphragm is lifted up and you have more space to lift the pelvic floor. I found it loads easier to do them when I found this out! How are you doing them? You need to pull your belly into your spine and sort of try and lift your fanjo lips upwards if that makes any sense? (a bit like squeezing something with vaginal muscles.

Hope the baby comes soon esk/val/b2b!

I'm counting down the last 6 weeks at work, hope they go quickly, have had enough now, just bored! Doesn't help that everyone is on holiday and so the place is dead.

aw at the baby mohawk coaam Grin

Baby2b · 23/08/2011 12:53

Just lost long post.

esk I really shouldn't complain, you have been really patient. The sweep sounds like it is doing its thing, so fingers crossed for movement in the next 48 hours for you. I have a sweep tomorrow so hopefully we will both be on our way Smile.

I actually feel a lot better today. Went out for a nice meal. When we got home i had a hot shower, then Dh gave me a leg and foot massage while i read the chapter on positive birth stories in Ina May's book. I then listened to my natalbirthing cd and had a great sleep from half 11-9am. Still needed to wee three times, but not the 4am insomnia!

Baby2b · 23/08/2011 12:55

katee hope the last few weeks at work go by quickly. How are you feeling yourself?

vallinnapod · 23/08/2011 13:15

Oh Katee so exciting being on the countdown to leave Grin

B2B I will try your tactics tonight for sleep Confused

Baby2b · 23/08/2011 13:31

Definitely do Val. I think until yesterday I didn't realise how exhausted I had been. As labour is more likely to start at night, I think I had been spending every night analysing every twinge. This along with heartburn and 5am munchies was not helping me relax.

Right, time to bounce some more on my ball.

Oh, meant to mention. The raspberry leaf tea is meant to be really good for you to continue drinking after the birth. You probably know this but I only read about it properly yesterday Blush

nickelbabe · 23/08/2011 13:41

that's a good tip, kate - currently, I'm doing them the way it says in the book, which is to imagine squeezing front, middle and back muscles separately.
but, yes, i've just tried it your waywith the out breath, and i do feel like my pelvis is sitting away from the chair! Grin
much easier.
thank you

nickelbabe · 23/08/2011 13:44

had a lovely lie-in today.
:)

DH's day off, so I got assistant to cover the shop.
she didn't take any money in the 3 hours she was here - the rain has been pouring down like mad and she had no customers.
I've just had one.
(only spent £4.49)
Shock

anyway, the lie-in would have been nicer if Isbn hadn't been lying on something - it felt like someone inside was pulling my skin - not quite a sharp stabbing pain, but near enough.
like vallinna - felt like something was trying to get out of my stomach! - i've never had appendicitis, but i'm guessing it'd feel like that.
ow!

KateeTheBump · 23/08/2011 13:45

So, so tired, didn't help that I had a (stressful) family event yesterday which wore me out, and alarm went off at 6am today, gah! Feeling a bit sorry for myself today as nobody in the office is talking and I'm tired, and pregnant... so therefore hormonal as hell Wink and I'm trying to eke out what few jobs I have to do by the end of the month - MN can only take you so far in spinning out the hours...

Oh well, 2 1/4 hours and I'm outta here and into the reflexologist's, hoorah! Grin

vallinnapod · 23/08/2011 17:20

How did you find reflexology Katee? My guess is it wasn't an inducing session. I quite enjoyed my ones when I was hoping it would 'solve' my PCOS.

Nickel the whole 'Alien' sensation is really odd isn't it?!

B2B - maybe that's my problem. t the moment he is moving loads at night. Also all my major BH, back pain and period type pain have been at night so maybe I am just 'waiting' for it to start.

We have finally exchanged on our house. I didn't think I was worried about it, was pretty sure it was going to happen eventually, but maybe if I was stressing about that inadvertently then that's one less thing to worry about ce soir.

Will try some hypnobirthing later Grin

nickelbabe · 24/08/2011 10:23

3rd day running with the alien pain.
I'm starting to worry about it. Confused

I was sooo tired yesterday - that's what havign a lie-in does for you!
Feel better today. :)

Baby2b · 24/08/2011 10:50

What is the pain like and where is it centred Val?

I'm just giving my house the once over incase the sweep pushes me into labour today (wishful thinking emoticon) Grin

Baby2b · 24/08/2011 10:57

Oh, congrats on the house exchange Grin

vallinnapod · 24/08/2011 11:03

Thanks! Didn't help with the sleep Sad Well I got to 4am without waking which was an achievement. Now just waiting for acupuncture. Out you come now baby, will take sleepless nights with you over amusing myself any time!

vallinnapod · 24/08/2011 11:06

nickel maybe the pain is ligaments stretching? I am having real issues with this at the moment, quite low in my pelvis - sort of where my legs connect to my hips. I think it is general protest at uterus size!

nickelbabe · 24/08/2011 11:21
Shock but i had the ligaments stretching pain weeks ago! mine's at the left side of my belly, sort of the exact opposite side from where the baby seems to be lodging its head (or big fat arse! Grin ) constantly. ligaments stretching makes sense. :)
