Ha! I made it to the next thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 17:27

LOL Nickel - must remember not to mix my acronyms!!

B2B I had such a low pain threshold at the end of my first trimester/beginning of second that I thought I would have to quit waxing but then it toughened up again! Glad all went well that that things are where the should be, if not as open as you would like Grin

Baby2b · 17/08/2011 18:52

Grin at braxton hicks weekend. We do have babies on the brain don't we?!

Baby2b · 17/08/2011 18:55

Btw, is anyone worried that we haven't heard from ttl in a really long time? I know the just Mumming thread isn't really used, but everyone else has dropped by.

vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 21:14

I just assume that once the LOs arrive time is no longer your own and MN is a bit of a distant memory for a while Grin

Eskarina · 17/08/2011 21:21

Blush I must admit I thought "Braxton Hicks Weekend???" too Blush
And I'm not going to be waxing/shaving/trimming anything I can't see Grin. Have decided that the midwife will have seen it all before and I'll have more to worry about when the time comes. I'm more worried about what the mw who does the sweep on Friday will think than anyone I encounter in labour.

TTL if you're out there reading do drop in and let us know how you and Isobel are getting on. Same for anyone else lurking Smile

So in addition to last night's efforts I have now added curry to the list. Not going to be trying JS 2 nights in a row. That was a bit much even for TTC Grin

I discovered this whilst looking up whether there's any basis at all to the clary sage recommendation. Envy Envy at her being able to just decide that that was the day, 10 days early, even though the birth didn't go quite as planned.
Maybe if I will it very very hard then Squig will be born tonight?

Baby2b · 18/08/2011 09:45

Well esk?! Did it work? Grin

vallinnapod · 18/08/2011 10:01

I have purchased clary sage and some carrier oil as we have no bath. Will be rubbing away all day!

I also have some reflexology booked for Friday (more of an excuse for a foot rub than anything!) to top up the acupuncture vibes!

That said, I am now thinking it's just best to keep my legs crossed, not only for our weekend away but also to get him in to the next school year...I figure none of these 'remedies' are going to work unless he is happy to come out! I am also only about a third of a way through knitting his next blanket, although I am stitching this one together as I go along - bigger sense of achievement sooner Grin Bought an Aden & Anais dream blanket just in case I don't get it done in time!!

Eskarina · 18/08/2011 11:13

Nope Grin and Angry!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/08/2011 12:08

Have you lot seen this thread? It's all very important information you should know Grin

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 12:27

i read that one too Grin

nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 12:32

"The UK's national guidelines from NICE are that it is acceptable to wait up to 96 hours if there are no signs of problems." this part has relieved me - I was worried about that, because I have a friend who went over 48 hours after her waters broke, and she was worried about intervention.
now i have that extra time frame to work within, it worries me less :)

Baby2b · 18/08/2011 12:49

Need some wisdom! Just went to the toilet and I have quite a lot of White, thick, discharge. Do you think it is another pregnancy thing to not worry about and/or caused by the internal yesterday? There is no blood and I don't have an infection.

vallinnapod · 18/08/2011 13:28

Nickel your hospital may have local guidelines too - mine is 12 hours for example - it's all in the name of preventing infection/causing the baby distress.

B2B I have had this recently. Let's get gross, and detailed...mine is/was very white. I was a bit Shock even though I have had lots of discharge throughout the pregnancy but I don't think it means much. Apparently if it something to do with your mucous plug it looks like the aspic you get in pork pies [boak] and tends to be blood tinged.

COAAF that thread is bloody hilarious!! Very, very wise tips!! I had a friend who had his very expensive Bang & Olfsen speakers Sudacremed by his twins Grin

Baby2b · 18/08/2011 13:41

Thank you, that makes me feel better. Have had lots throughout pregnancy too, but was still Shock Haven't done this much knicker checking since my bfp Grin

nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 13:46

i get that vall - i'm just hoping to be able to use the nice guidelines as back-up :)
I'm hoping it won't come to that, though!

vallinnapod · 18/08/2011 14:03

Nickel the 12 hours is a very conservative time frame (quote from the MW). I always panic as I am worried I could leak fluid for days (see Blush comment on discharge) and not realise Grin

nickelbabe · 18/08/2011 14:06

yes! i thought that too - how do you know when it's classed as waters goen or just trickling!

KateeTheBump · 18/08/2011 14:56

Good news from the midwife this morning at my 31 week appointment, bump just a little under average, but growing consistently (she predicts 7.3lb baby), heartbeat etc. all good. I asked about her policy with going overdue and she seems fairly relaxed about it, and it looks as though if I agree to monitoring she would still be happy to do a home birth even if I was over 40+12, phew! That's such a big weight off my mind, something I've been dwelling on for a good few weeks!

val I have my 6th reflexology session booked for my first day of annual leave/maternity leave (when I'll be 38+3) so hoping that will be a good way to start my leave Grin - also that it will help a smooth and quicker labour. I shocked the midwife by saying I was on the RLT already but when I explained it was just a cup of the weak tea every day and that I wasn't going on to the hard stuff for a few weeks she said to go for it - she used it for her third labour and it was the easiest of the three apparently. I also have the lavender and clary sage oil at the ready for after 37/38 weeks - can you tell I want this baby out as early after term as possible? Grin

Baby2b · 18/08/2011 17:15

Glad your appointment went well katee Smile. Little one will be here before you know it.

Have to say, I think the last few weeks have flown by and can't believe I am due in a matter of days.

Who has the pom poms? Grin

vallinnapod · 18/08/2011 18:09

LOL I start:

"Gimme and 'E'...gimme an 'S'...."

I know what you mean about time flying. I thought it would drag once I finished work but tomorrow it the end of my third week off. One more week of annual leave and then I am officially on maternity leave!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/08/2011 18:25

Thick white mucus sounds like thrush.

I have a photo of DS covered in sudocreme.

Hope all is going well for you all.

cowboylover · 18/08/2011 19:15

My waters went 48 hours before having DD and because of that time she had to have IV antibiotics due to the risk of infection. Think I remember the consultant said that most labours start within 12 hours of waters going.

I had a gloopy White discharge at around 38 weeks and another lovely pregnancy thing for you but how does it smell?

vallinnapod · 18/08/2011 19:17

Mine's watery rather than thick, smell free and itch free Grin I love we can have these conversations!!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/08/2011 20:04

Thrush can be itch free (oh yes it's great having the only sypmtom being sore during sex Blush)

It's so nice not being pg anymore. No heart burn and no random discharge.

Yes these convos are great aren't they? Grin ... Blush

OP posts:
Baby2b · 18/08/2011 21:47

It's don't think it is thrush as I normally get it with a vengeance and didn't have a problem with internal at midwife appointment (or with the one js we have managed recently Grin)

It is creamy white and not unpleasant smelling Blush
