Ha! I made it to the next thread.

OP posts:

Baby2b · 27/07/2011 22:24

P.s. Love the babies at the movies idea. I really enjoyed Harry Potter

Eskarina · 28/07/2011 09:13

Envy I want to go and see Harry Potter.

I'm drowning under the washing I need to do. I had to go out and buy more pegs on Tuesday because I'd used all the ones I had.

I started a thread in "pregnancy" asking how many baby clothes I need and was surprised that the answer appeared to be that I can't have too many! And that I need to repeat all of this with the 0-3 month clothes incase baby is a whopper.
Looks like I'll be busy with washing all next week as well, given I've not even started on the nappies yet. Confused

vallinnapod · 28/07/2011 10:49

TTL I am sure once he is here, mine will undoubtedly be the most beautiful, unique baby ever Wink A friend of mine was being very funny about her DD the other day (who is, and has always been, a complete cutie) She was saying that it is only now she looks back on earlier photos that she thinks she was a bit weird looking Grin At the time she thought she was nothing but gorgeous! EURGH! At the vom....Although I can deal with that (maybe not ingesting it....) it's poo that really turns my stomach at the moment!

I enjoyed HP too and have the luxury of a very nice independent cinema where we live that do weekely baby screenings. Hope we have one near where we move to also.

Esk I saw your thread. I think I have too many NB clothes (12 vests, 10-ish all in ones) but when I washed them I noticed they vary massively in size. M&P NB is the smallest (so in my hospital bag), Asda's seems about or 2 inches longer. I did wash my 0-3 stuff too (but have very little - 5 vests, 3 all in ones) just in case he is a whopper. Figured DH could go purchasing if we needed!

The nappy wash was quite epic! I do recommend putting them all through on a regualr cycle with non-bio powder and then 2 or 3 mini-cycles straight after. My totsbots all-in-ones took an age to dry hanging up but I low heat tumble dried all my itti bitti inserts which was far quicker. Glad I washed all the muslins too as there was so much lint in the dryer after that!

Can you tell I am anally organised (and a little over excited) No idea what I am going to do on mat leave...! Decided we are going to leave building the crib until I think I am in labour as it will kill the time (or my DH Wink) Plus spacewise I will go insane if I have to keep squeezing past it for potentially 6 weeks. Stupid???

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 11:43

I was talking to a friend, who is about 7 weeks further on than me (she doesn't know, because she doesn't know when she got pg, and the scans have all been approximate so far!), and she said that she had the same thing with the fanjo scan - that they were shocked that she said no.
she reckons it's because we both signed up to allow our results to be used in research (cos we're attached to King's in London), and that's why they can't understand why we're saying no to stuff.
like she said, she's had 2 previous children with no problems, and that she couldn't see why it suddenly became a problem.
She also said something that i'd been thinking about recurrent miscarriages or premature births being a reason to do it.

I think the research guys need to be aware that just because we've agreed to participate in the research doesn't mean that we're going to agree to have every procedure done to us. :)

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 11:43

yum ttl at your BM experience GrinGrin

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 11:45

vallinna - funny you should say that about gorgeous/otherwise babies Grin

my friend at swimming last night was saying that all mums think their babies are gorgeous, and it must be funny to be one of the observers thinking "you what?! ShockConfused" Grin
I told her that she must tell me if the baby is actually ugly, and she said that I wouldn't believe her if she said it was! (and then refused to tell me)

vallinnapod · 28/07/2011 12:11

LOL nickel I would like to believe I would be objective but I am not sure I will be!!

vallinnapod · 28/07/2011 15:06

Feel like my bump has shrunk today. Anyone else get that?

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 16:39

i wish! mine feels really big agian.
I feel all squashed up after the scan, and I had a bit of indigestion once I finished my dinner (didn't last long enough to need the settlers though Grin)

it might just have turned around...

Dynababy · 28/07/2011 16:49

Shock TTL at vomit in mouth ... sure I would have been next to vomit if that happened..

So seen mw today 40 & 8 and cervix so high she couldn't even sweep the membranes .. Sad

Booked for induction Sunday but sooo don't want it to be then, want it naturally before then. JS'ing, curry, rasp leaf tea all failed so far.. what else can I do??

nickelbabe · 28/07/2011 16:55

sounds like you're just going to have to wait.

why are you booked in for an induction for so early?
can you ask them to move it to 42 weeks?

KateeTheBump · 28/07/2011 20:05

Dynababy, the other thing you can easily try is a large capsule of evening primrose oil up the fanjo before you go to bed (its supposed to ripen the cervix). How much of the raspberry leaf were you having?

Otherwise, bouncing on ball if you have one, walking, blowing up balloons (apparently causes pressure on the uterus) and castor oil. One of my friends had a full body massage and went into labour the next day - so anything that makes you relax - if you're feeling uptight you won't go into labour! Also gentle pressure on the ankles might help - the bit just under your ankle bone.

Good luck! Smile

Nickel - it all depends on where you live as to when you get induced, its 40+12 here, 40+11 in other places.

vallinnapod · 28/07/2011 21:16

We are 40+11 here, the idea being it may take up to 40+14 to actually go from there to baby Shock

Dyna acupuncture? Pineapple (Although apparently by the tree load!) 'Freebies' would be stair climbing, floor cleaning and anything encouraging you to be forward with your hips higher than your knees. Ar you drinking tea bag RLT? According to my NCT lady this is pointless and you have to drink the loose leaf stuff (typical as I have 4 boxes of the tea bags....)

KateeTheBump · 28/07/2011 21:38

Could your bump feeling smaller be baby engaging Val? If he has dropped that might make you smaller. MW seemed quite pleased with mine at appointment today, nice to know! Grin

vallinnapod · 28/07/2011 22:03

I was wondering the same, he's always been pretty low - in that although I get booted in the ribs and heartburn there has been a bit of space between my stomach and top of uterus. Who knows! This is getting nearly as 'symptom' spotting as the JSing days Grin

Very pleased to hear your appointment went well!

Tomorrow is my last day at work. I want to cry with every different emotion if that makes sense?! It is the most bizarre feeling, sort of like I have resigned (in that I have handed my role over to my cover) but sort of like I am just going on holiday....am petrified they will prefer my cover and not want me back (as I am taking a year my actual role doesn't have to have me back :() Come and play baby, distract your neurotic mama!!

Eskarina · 28/07/2011 22:13

Hope your last day at work goes well Val. It's an odd feeling isn't it.

Loving the labour symptom spotting. I have precisely none though. Don't you dare go into labour before me mind, I have at least 3 weeks on you don't I? Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 29/07/2011 10:31

Apparently pineapple up the fanjo and blowjobs (swallowed Shock) are good for bringing on labour.

vallinnapod · 29/07/2011 10:50

COAAF a man clearly made up the last one! Are you sure you haven't got the 2 the wrong way round Wink I refuse to believe it Grin

Don't worry Esk I think I am a way off!! I think it is 3 weeks you have on me! I have too much to do in my first few days/weeks of mat leave to have a baby yet (please, please don't let me have jinxed this Grin) People keep telling me he'll be early for various (completely unscientific) reasons - the main one being he'd be in the school year as the youngest (like this is some hideous form of child abuse I am inflicting on him....but that is another rant...!) so I reckon he will be late in protest!

Eskarina · 29/07/2011 10:50

Urgh. No thanks to either of those!

I'm trying to reconstruct the moses basket after taking everything off to wash. It's not as simple as it should be! I hope I haven't shrunk the covers..

vallinnapod · 29/07/2011 10:52

The one I have smells a bit from being in a bin bag (to protect it from the dust ironically...) am worried it may be mouldy - no obvious signs....

Baby2b · 29/07/2011 11:18

Pmsl at blowjobs and pineapples Grin

Had a weird labour dream last night that I was giving birth somewhere in France. Was all very odd as they wanted to give me pethadine even though I had no feelings of contractions, so I ran away to another part of the hospital. My contractions then stopped and I was told I would need cs by general anaesthetic. My sister was being prepped as a back up?! Hmm I was then stressing to find my phone to update mumsnet! Makes no sense whatsoever. Woke up thinking I was in labour and realised I wasn't Blush

Bring back the horny dreams Grin

KateeTheBump · 29/07/2011 12:21

My dream last night was a weird labour dream too b2b!

I dreamt I was 29 weeks and in labour, and that the baby was pressed against the outside of my belly, so I could see exactly what position he was in (think about those metal pin things you do an impression of hand/face in) and he was back to back, then I got him turned round and he was breech, with his feet out to the sides like some sort of yoda. And then he (painlessly) came through the skin of my tummy and was born... totally bizarre! Shock Grin we should all be writing horror films based on these warped dreams!

Right off to bob around in a warm swimming pool this afternoon, bless the people that decided Friday afternoon was perfect for aquanatal Grin

nickelbabe · 29/07/2011 12:45

I do think it's quite funny how all the Viroids who are ready to pop sound just as desperate as those who were JSing Grin
maybe we should call the graduates "Just Waiting" Grin

Eskarina · 29/07/2011 13:56

Make sure it's you who starts the new thread nickel and we can indeed be the Just Waiting thread!

The first of my NCT group seems to have gone into labour today - well, her waters have broken but no action yet.
