I was just a bit surprised!

All baby washing dome here. Think it's because I wanted to feel a little more settled her. Just want to be in my own house! Spare room looks like mothercare has vomited forth into it. Have nowhere to put anything as waiting to move in to by chest of drawers etc for bub. Moan over Grin We do have a crib to build but I am loathed to do that just yet for space reasons. Was thinking maybe DH could do it when labour starts, you know, something to occupy him Wink

Have 6 hours worth of NCT tomorrow Shock

Baby2b · 22/07/2011 23:24

Shock to fountain of milk. Kind of thought it just came out of the centre Blush

Esk, this is the time where you go to the movies, have nice meals with dh, sleep lots, get a pedicure. Anything that might seem more difficult when you have a little one. Im not freezing meals though as i don't like food from the freezer.

I just did my baby clothes washing yesterday. It all looked super cute on the airer.

Eskarina · 23/07/2011 10:27

Thanks for the Emma-Jane nursing bras recommendation Vallinna. I ordered 3 which came this morning (with a code for 10% off from figleaves so even cheaper!) and they're fab. I've possibly bought them too big as I think baby is still pushing my ribs out, but I don't care. It's the first really comfortable bra I've had on for weeks!

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 23/07/2011 11:00

morning all!
Grin

had the crappest evening at the charity event - hardly anyone there, but my biggest bugbear was that there were no refreshments at all!
the people who bought tickets were given a drink and a cake, but whilst we were allowed drinks, there was no food to buy, or anything!
assistant hadn't eaten all day (apart from a doughnut, because she's going through trauma), and I hadn't because of my poorlyness yesterday.
So we sat there for the whole evening with nothing but jaffa cakes and tiny savoury crisps to eat. from 6 till 10, hardly anyone bought anything, so after expenses, I didn't take enough money to cover the books I sold. :(

I know that most people who came, came in, ate their cake and had their drink, looked at the stalls and then left. If there had been refreshements for sale, people would have stayed, because it would have been a social evening.
and I was fuming by the end, just because Iwas soooooooooooooooo hungry.
Then, at half 9, I texted DH to fetch me, expecting him to come from the pub,. collect me, take the books back to the shop and then take me back to the pub (we would have been back before 10), but the people he was giving lifts to decided that they would also leave with him, which meant he had to wait for them to finish their drinks, then take them all home (opposite side of town from where I was), then come and fetch me.
I rang him at 10 to find out where he was - he hadn't even left the bloody pub (cos of the others)!
which meant I was sitting around on my own while the organisers were trying to tidy up, I couldn't even carry my stuff out to the corridor so they could put my table away.
Angry

and I was still starving

Dynababy · 23/07/2011 11:38

Soo after a day of feeling sick .. symptoms tailed off Sad .. I'm sooo bored waiting!!

Val the other thing I did notice on Thursday night was funnily enough leaking right boob - was quite Shock too!! Hopefully mean breast feeding will go OK

Sorry you had such a crappy night Nickel - hope DH got you a nice takeaway or something.

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 23/07/2011 11:40

no, he didn't get me a takeaway. by that time it was so late, i didn't really fancy food at all.
he made me a butter sandwich when we got back home.

sprry your symptoms have tailed off. :(
I really am not looking forward to the waiting around part.

Baby2b · 23/07/2011 20:05

Dh whinge alert. He was working super late last night so I arranged to see friends. He was working 6-6pm today, so had a day in the house thinking I would do a nice dinner etc. He is still at work Sad. It's not his fault, but telling me at 5.30pm isn't acceptable Angry

Just needed to offload that!

Eskarina · 23/07/2011 20:52

Baby I sympathise with you on DH's working hours. My DH does this occasionally and I often don't know about it until too late. We now have an agreement that he must tell me by 6pm so that I don't start cooking for him if he's going to end up eating in the office in order to work until v late. That time will probably change now I'm at home all day.

Nickel sorry for your evening yesterday. I hope your DH is making it up to you today.

I had my baby shower today. It was great fun! We played "guess what's in the nappy" (chocolate of various types), decorate a babygrow and a couple of other games. Also have some really thoughtful presents, especially from people who have had babies already. I would never have thought of getting baby emery boards, but had no idea how to cut a baby's nails!

DH got carried away today and assembled the pushchair. It's sweet that he's so excited, but his logic totally failed. He claimed that we'd assemble the pushchair so there was more space in baby's room (where the boxes were) for us to build furniture. In fact we now have pushchair taking up space in the living room and the empty boxes in baby's room. Ah well.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

vallinnapod · 23/07/2011 21:20

Oh Nickel, sorry your evening was so crap and dyna that your symptoms have dried up - maybe they are trying to lull you into a false sense of security?!

Oh B2B that is my standard gripe with DH. The whole "I'll be home at x" and then wondering why I am pissed off when it is an hour later! Just don't tell me a time would be better Grin

Esk glad the bras are good as I just recommended them to my entire NCT class too!! Glad the shower was fun too!

Baby2b · 23/07/2011 21:22

Sounds like a fab baby shower Grin. Love the game ideas. I was given a surprise one by my work colleagues, a cream tea in central London. Was fab! Also very exciting about the pram being assembled. The baby gear def does take over doesn't it?!

Dh still isn't home. Logically I know it is just the nature of the job. My hormonal self feels like I have wasted a whole day and could have arranged to do something nice tonight. He is going to be shattered, so I thought I would try and vent on here and be reasonable when I see him (that's the plan anyway!).

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I
am meeting the girls for cake tomorrow, so will be happy then Grin

Eskarina · 24/07/2011 22:08

We have progress on the Nursery!! (I know, I know, 36+5 isn't the ideal time to be just getting into it!)
Baby now has (most of) a chest of drawers/cupboard combination, a curtain rail and curtains. Only most of a chest of drawers etc because we bought green doors for it in IKEA last weekend as the plain wooden ones were out of stock but now we've decided to return them as the green is really very GREEN and a bit overpowering.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I'm looking forward to not going to work tomorrow Grin

Baby2b · 25/07/2011 06:53

Morning ladies, hope everyone has had a good weekend. I had a fab day yesterday which more than made up for a rubbish Saturday. Do have slightly burnt shoulders though, doh!

Good progress on the nursery esk Smile.

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 25/07/2011 10:26

what was my weekend was only yesterday - and not even that because I spent most of it at church.
:(

am so tired and miserable at the moment. I really need a proper break- a proper weekend or something, but i don't have any chance of that.
My normal routine is just getting too much for me - there's no end to this in sight, and for some reason, I seem to find more stuff to do! Shock
when I'm at home resting, I feel like i'm supposed to be doing something, so I get bored, then I can't sleep!

Grin at your green doors esk - hope your first day of freedom is fabby :)
Bab shower sounds great fun too - nice to be pampered, isn't it! Grin

vallinnapod · 25/07/2011 11:16

Awh Nickel hope you have a lovely Monday to make up for the w/e!

Esk at least you have a nursery Wink although we have decided on the M&P Gingerbread theme for when we eventually move! Although DH today asked if everybody would have somthing like that. I didn't know the answer but thought it really didn't matter!!

Had our 34 week MW appointment today. We have a very cooperative baby (at the moment....!) who is head down and 2/5 engaged! Tres exciting - although we were told he could pop out again! First NCT on Saturday too which was really good. Everyone (including the teacher) all very normal Grin

Baby2b · 25/07/2011 11:18

Sorry to hear you are feeling down nickel. Is there no way you and dh can even do a midweek day away somewhere? I found getting away really helped as I couldn't end up tidying etc.

I have the midwife this week and a scan. Really pleased I have the appointments as I have been feeling period type pains and had a really funny stomach. Think it is to early at 36 weeks for labour symptoms. I sometimes get ibs when I'm nervous, so more likely that. Oh the joys!

Baby2b · 25/07/2011 11:21

Yay to good appointment Val. Glad you enjoyed nct class too. The first person in my group has had her baby, super cute Grin. It is nice to have people in the same boat as you and future cake buddies!

Any news from Dyna?!

KateeTheBump · 25/07/2011 11:53

Don't go for the gingerbread changing mat though Vallinna... just read the reviews on the M&P website if you don't believe me Wink that's the one I've got, and am waiting to return and get a refund on, bloody useless thing.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Nickel, I think everyone gets a bit down in the dumps about your stage... you're just over the halfway point now though, so it will all start to speed up a bit soon, promise! Try and remember to sleep as much as you can and to eat properly.

Dynababy · 25/07/2011 12:03

Hey - still no real progress here, have had some cramps and shooting pains in Fanjo over weekend but nothing indicating labour 'proper' ... 40 & 5 now.... sooo over being pregnant and just want baby to come!! Come on baby!!! DH disapointed to be going to work today after promising signs on Friday he was convinced it was time and being called / texted by mum, brother, friends and DH family constantly asking for updates and nothing to report.. hmmmpphh. I can't even walk very much to try and get things going cos of my SPD.. I can do about a mile max before being in agony.

Sorry for the selfish post Blush

Val enjoy your first monday off! Esk good progress on nursery!

Sorry your feeling down Nickel definately time to plan a lovely day out if full weekend away off the cards. B2B you've got more symtoms that me now! Envy

vallinnapod · 25/07/2011 12:27

Thanks Katee I remember your review so will steer well clear!

Dyna still one week to go Wink at my desk as I type thinking "Wwwwhhhheeeeeee" and "ssshhhhiiiitttteeee" in equal measures at not being here next week Grin Sending you labouring thoughts :)

B2B I have been quite period painy too this morning. The MW said it's about now that the BH take on a bit more force!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/07/2011 12:59

Just remember Dyna in less than 2 weeks now you WILL have a baby in your arms and all the pain of waiting will be a distant memory.

Hugs for you Nickel. You sound like you need it (I'd give you chocolate too, but I've eaten it all).

Period type pains/feelings are good things. Mean you cervix is ripening (though don't mean baby will be on time, yes DD I'm looking at you).

OP posts:
vallinnapod · 25/07/2011 13:15

Haha COAAF (still aching?!) - for some reason when anyone says ripe or ripening it makes me think of really smelly (delicious!) oozing brie!

Baby2b · 25/07/2011 16:15

Not sure if I have had any BH. Could that just be them?

I have been trying to get the house tidied and catch up on my washing today (fab weather for drying clothes). Only problem is I cant keep my eyes open. Think I am turning nocturnal Grin

Been a while since we had the labour pom poms out!

aStarInStrangeways · 25/07/2011 16:58

That's reassuring COAAF, I've been getting intermittent period-y cramps for a few days now. Some quite strong ones at the park earlier. Hopefully this means the mw will be able to sweep me when I see her at hospital tomorrow. I may have to nick your crown, cos my fanjo is aching for real. I feel like someone trying to carry a bowling ball in an inadequate string bag between my legs.

vallinnapod · 25/07/2011 19:21

Poor Star!

I had a bit of a Confused. My leaky right boob just leaked something the colour that tomato sauce goes when it stains a white top...does that make sense? That sort of electric orange colour...can't make it do it again but it was a bit Shock

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 25/07/2011 19:35

Leaky boobs are another sign of baby being about done Val WinkGrin abit [shick] at the colour though, but then colostrum is quite yellow in colour.

You can have my crown now aStar. I was thinking of changing my name to ConfessionsOfAWareFanjo after I caught sight of how badly maintained it actually was! Grin, though the way I've been eating recently and the apparent weight gain I've had I may need to go back to the old NoMoreChocBiscuits. We'll shall see what some more sleep deprevation can help me come up with.
