Despite doing more pelvic floor exercises I sneezed and peed my pants a little again today Blush. Just thought I would share that Grin

Eskarina · 25/07/2011 21:26

Hope the babies don't keep you waiting too long.

Val my boobs have been quite leaky from about 25 weeks. There are two distinctly different substances (TMI, I know) the bright yellow one, which I'm guessing is proto-colostrum, and the clear one (who knows what that is!). They don't leak much spontaneously but if squeezed then drops come out Blush

First day of mat leave shot by with general housework stuff. Tomorrow I'll be starting on the pile of pre-baby washing.

vallinnapod · 25/07/2011 22:04

PMSL at the proposed name COAWF (for that is what you will now be to me Grin) I can now only tell I am in need of a wax by looking in a mirror....even aiming to wee in the pot at the MW appt was a bit hit and miss (literally) as I cannot see a thing! Smile

I can't believe we are getting close to baby time...even if he is over due it is only 8 weeks tops - eeekkk!

LOL B2B I feel you pain (or dampness) at the sneezing....I used to do the whole mousey sneeze, you know, where you sort of hold it in but if I try that now I feel like my intestines are going to explode through what are left of my abs and that there would be serious leakage of the pelvic floor! I find the louder I sneeze the less chance of weeing!!

Hope you are getting some relaxing time Esk - unless the housework is nesting?? My first day of mat leave next Monday will be spent visiting our new house and making list of everything we want to do. I then need to get quotes from builders and then, I guess, I need to prioritise what we can afford Grin

Bub is going insane with movement tonight!

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 08:51

Morning all! Hope you get your sweep today astar (and that its successful).

Val Grin at the tomato sauce boob, I've been leaking the clear watery stuff for weeks now, but if I get a lot for some reason it goes into sort of yellow crystally stuff, quite bizarre really.

Baby has been a bit quieter over the last few days, so I suspect is going through a bit of a growth spurt? Has spent all morning so far stamping on my cervix (boy that is a WEIRD feeling) though Grin so I'm sure all is fine.

Nickel how you feeling today? Scan tomorrow yes?

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 09:03

LOL Katee - the yellow crystally stuff was the fist I noticed. We could compose a Dulux colour chart at this rate Grin

Oh, Nickel scan excitement!!

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 09:04

Fist?!?! Meant first....the mind boggles....

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 09:23

I knew what you meant Grin

Eskarina · 26/07/2011 09:57

Grin at the Dulux colour chart!

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 26/07/2011 10:06

right, so leaky boobs, changing names, sweeps, coughing/sneezing, tidying Shock,
that's a lot to look at from one evening! Grin

Isbn moved a heck of a lot yesterday and last night - wasn't sure it was normal though (or even Isbn) because some of it felt like muscle twitching - especially one was quite low, down at the fanjo end. Was convinced that the stress and upset I've put myself under was causing problems, and that I would wake up in a pool of blood.
I didn't, obviously, but I'm starting to worry about the effects of the stress at the moment.

I've given up on coughing and sneezing too, because I can't be bothered to do pelvic floor exercises - it never used to be a problem! ShockGrin

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 10:39

You've got to love stress Nickel and the irony that you stress yourself out more, because you are worried about too much stress. As you may remember I have the most horrible anxiety for most of my pregnancy about 4.5 months and could have thumped those who would say 'just relax'. I found a pregnancy relaxation CD really helpful (despite being massive skepical) and now find I revert to it when I can't sleep - althought the other night I put it on not realising iTunes was on shuffle, reached the end and got some blaring upbeat song, quite a shock!!

I also have the twitching quite a bit, early on it is probably muscle twitches but by now it could be Isbn having hiccups! Teddy gets them a lot at the moment - normally after I eat. He is at the stage where it looks like my whole stomach is about to erupt but to begin with they were a like a minor thud in the fanjo Grin

I got stretching with the Epi-No again last night. Tres impressed myself at the size I got it too (I think maybe 6cms). Horrible heavy, achy feeling though. You do it for 10 mins a night. I was going to stop but had to keep reminding myself that would not be an option when the time came so perservered. I'll have a bucket crotch in no time Grin

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 26/07/2011 11:08

glad the stress is "normal" Grin

and Grin at the itunes Grin

that's exactly it - minor thud in the fanjo. ooh, i didn't know they could get hiccups so early on. must be all that ingesting their own emissions Shock[boak]

I would love to know how well that works out for when you give birth - sounds gruesome, but also quite a good plan. :)

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 11:23

I hope the bucket crotch is reversible Val Wink

I don't think I've felt hiccups yet, presumably squig has had them at some point though, especially given that I'm prone to them Grin more just getting the boot in!

aStarInStrangeways · 26/07/2011 12:46

Thanks Katee, sweep was indeed a goer and not only that, but they have booked me for induction on Thursday (because my blood sugars are going a bit wonky). So either way I should get to meet my baby soon Wish me luck!

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 12:50

Fingers and toes crossed for you Star Smile keep us informed!

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 12:52

Me too Katee Wink

Nickel I will let you know my personal experience (in glorious technicolour!) but I heard nothing but really positive stories from the several different MWs who ran our antenatal and on Saturday the NCT lady said in her experiences (as in feedback from ladies in her groups) it seemed far more effective than massage alone. That said, I bet I am the bugger that tears none-the-less!

nickelbabe · 26/07/2011 14:34

ooh, Star - you're moving on too!
Grin

thanks, vallinna - want to know if it's worth doing

I'm not sure about NCT classes (as you mention them) cos I was looking at the website, and it lists all the classes in my area, but nowhere does it give you any idea of cost.
this is worrying for the main point that because i'm self-employed, i fall through the radar on help with costs, but i don't actually earn any money....
Confused

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 14:57

NCT is not cheap (I can't remember as I signed up really early) but around £250 - this does depend on area, hence there being no prices on the website. Had I known how fab our NHS ones were I don't think I would have bothered with hindsight. I had got (the very snobby) impression that the NHS ones would not be as comprehensive as ours turned out to be. I know they vary on area though. Is there anyone you can ask (outside of the MWs maybe) about the NHS ones in your area? We had 4, 2hr sessions but from what I gather this is quite unusual.

The Epi No was stupidly expensive for what it is (£95 with postage for essentially a blood pressure pump with a thick balloon on the end) but I figured I would happily pay twice that not to tear/not to tear as badly as I might perhaps without) - I realise there will be no comparisson....!

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 14:59

If you register interest in one of the courses it should give you prices, ours was about £150 for 15 hours plus a postnatal meet up, so wasn't too bad (it includes a year's membership for you and DH too). I would just email them and let them know your situation and they should be fairly helpful and let you know if there is a discount available. We have the first session on Saturday, but sending DP on his own as I've got to be somewhere else - brave man! Wink Even if no discount you should be able to pay monthly if that helps.

nickelbabe · 26/07/2011 15:16

ah, now that's a plan. - there was a course that had 10 sessions in, i think, but it was spread in such a way that I couldn't make a few of them (i think 3 or 4?), and sending DH on his own would be a good plan Grin
of course, there was one that was women-only that was one I wouldn't be able to make Shock

I don't like the way that they put some on weekday daytimes - not everyone can get time off work for PG stuff.

Eskarina · 26/07/2011 15:19

Nickel we went to one that was all evenings - though I suppose it depends on area. Ours were in the region of £250ish so I would have been annoyed if there were sessions we couldn't make.
Have you looked into the NHS classes? They're supposed to be quite good round here (Herts) but they're all daytime ones and DH didn't want to take the holiday for them (given he can sell his holiday if he doesn't use it, the NHS classes actually worked out more expensive than NCT if viewed in a certain way!)

KateeTheBump · 26/07/2011 15:30

Our course is 3 Saturdays for 3 hours and 3 Wednesday evenings. If you see one you like but is full, let them know, we did and managed to get in as someone didn't go through with their booking, so got into the place we wanted (lots of small suburban villages round me, wanted to go to the main one rather than the one over the county boundary - thought I would have more access to making friends there)

vallinnapod · 26/07/2011 16:04

Definately all area dependent! My experience was:

NHS: 4, 2 hour sessions on a Monday 17:15-19:15
NCT: 3 sessions. Two Saturdays 10:30-16:30 and one Sunday 14:00-17:00 (women only, breastfeeding)

nickelbabe · 26/07/2011 16:20

I have been told the NHS ones will be mentioned and discussed at a later date.

My midwife seemed very keen to make sure we got on one (and also said that they have loads of evening ones)

the problem with my town is that it's really in the middle of nowhere, so all the NCT classes are held in the Medway towns, it seems, and there's nothing local that's easy to get to (they're the morning ones anyway)

I'm hoping that everything will become clear in good time Grin

nickelbabe · 26/07/2011 16:21

Katee - even saturdays are no good for me - I don't have anyone to cover the shop.

I am still hoping that i'll go into labour at 5pm on a saturday and have had the baby before nightfall on the sunday! ShockHmmGrin
