Hiding in the loo with my iPhone catching up with email, FB and MN.......my mother is here visiting!!!!

KateeTheBump · 08/07/2011 12:02

She must think you're really constipated BB Grin

takethatlady · 08/07/2011 18:14

PMSL bb, and you too nickel with your devious dressing-up desires Grin

frak I saw the midwife today and she said the same. Isobel was definitely getting the fattier milk yesterday as she pooed yellow many times (and yes, it was all over her clothes too coaaf Grin) but it's all been brown today. I've not been switch feeding but trying to make her stick to each breast for a full feed, and now I'm going to do double feeds on each side. The best thing was the midwife taught me how to compress my breast and it definitely works! Isobel stayed on much longer at lunch time and looked much more satiated when she finished, so hopefully that will help stimulate the flow.

yay for feeling the baby nickel :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 08/07/2011 20:29

Compressed boobs? I'm intrigued.

Katee French baby clothes are soooo much nicer than UK ones. I could have spent a fortune when we were over there - such lovely, fun, tasteful, practical girls' clothes, no shiny glittery slogan shite (and that was just the discount supermarkets).

fraktious · 09/07/2011 04:10

coaaf it's to help get the freshly produced milk along the ducts once the baby stops sucking effectively because all the east milk has gone.. You might have used them when hand expressing?

The are some good YouTube videos - try breastfeeding compressions Jack Newman.

Eskarina · 09/07/2011 09:46

Love the fabric Katee. I fancy a Hungry Caterpillar/Eric Carle theme to our baby's room.

Val I also have all of moses basket (for downstairs), crib (for our room) and cot-bed (for later) Blush. In my defence I got them 2nd hand from a friend (oh, and a travel cot too - DH wondered how many different beds one baby needs!)

I'm having a tizzy over various things. Our pushchair etc are coming from John Lewis. I thought I was collecting today but no, it's only arrived at the warehouse today so I can't collect until the middle of the week. They're really stressing me about their price-match stuff as well. Even though I've waited nearly 3 weeks for them to get stock in they seem to be saying that they'll only match a competitor if they have stock immediately available on the shop floor. DH is trying to convince me that it'll all be OK and I'm stressing over nothing. To me over £100 in price difference isn't nothing and I'm getting all wound up about it. Methinks really I'm getting tired and hormonal!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 09/07/2011 10:42

Never had much need for hand expressing as I have fountain boobs. Poor DS, the number of times he ended up with a face full of milk as a baby!

Eskarina · 09/07/2011 22:11

Confused at the idea of fountain boobs. Mind you, mine are leaking enough at the moment - ok, only drops at a time but was very embarrassed to have leaked through the t-shirt I was wearing last night. Luckily it was only me at home.
My cousin had a little boy this lunchtime. Am hoping to emulate her birth - woke at 5.45am when her waters went with strong regular contractions. Arrived at hospital at 6.30am where they told her she was 7cm dilated and baby arrived apparently very easily at 11.45am. Envy
I'd love to go and visit but daren't travel 3 hours from home incase Squig decides to put in a (slightly) early appearance. My mw berated me earlier in the week for not keeping my mat notes on me at all times Blush

COAAF I hope your DH is improving. Big hug to whole family

Baby2b · 09/07/2011 22:54

Quick question...has anyone felt a kind of clicking in their bump when the baby is moving? It has been happening for the past two days Confused

Eskarina · 10/07/2011 01:15

Nope Baby, never felt that!
In fact am sitting up now because I have hardly felt baby move all day and am getting stressed about it Sad. It even missed it's bedtime jump-about. I've tried gulping icy water, deep breaths, going to the loo etc. I get very faint movements but nothing like usual. It was super active yesterday evening so DH keeps telling me it must just be tired Hmm but I woke up and can't get back to sleep for thinking about it.

fraktious · 10/07/2011 07:55

esk get checked unless you've got strong regular kicks now.

I have quite fountainy boobs but find hand expressing better than my manual Avent unless my boobs are bursting. I'm hoping I'll get on better with a double electric than the manual or I'll spend all my breaks at work expressing!!!

I never had the clicking baby - could it be your hips?

Baby2b · 10/07/2011 09:35

esk have you had any more kicks this morning? If not Agree with frak to get checked out.

frak def not my hips. Actually wondered if it was the babies. It is very high up my stomach when he moves. Feels like something clicking or rubbing (like when you have a knot in your shoulder and you stretch it out) and makes me feel really squeamish. Another random question for the midwife Hmm

Eskarina · 10/07/2011 10:14

Thanks both. Have had a few weak movements but not happy so am going to hospital as soon as DH showered - he went out for a run as usual as I was convinced that as soon as I drank juice/tea/did a poo etc all would be fine, but I rang hosp and they said to come in so I drove off to collect him. Not happy when he was in a mobile phone blackspot!!

Will let you all know how we get on...

BrassicaBabe · 10/07/2011 11:06

Hope everythings well esk

I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans!! Whoop! Grin Crap all on telly this morning! Watching Qunicey in absence of anything else...

Eskarina · 10/07/2011 12:48

We're back, all is OK. Now have a pretty graph of baby's heartbeat and movements. It's moved from head down to transverse (not good baby!) and so is now kicking into the sac rather than outwards into my stomach wall, which is why movements feel so much weaker.

Much relieved

Woo for pre pg jeans BB!

Baby2b · 10/07/2011 13:40

Glad you went and got reassurance esk. Your instincts were right that something had changed so always best to get seen.

Yay for jeans BBGrin EnvyI can't wait to wear my old clothes again (and shop for new ones!). Put on one and a half stone so far and it's all bump. All my maternity trousers are getting too tight to wear and still have 6 weeks to go. Think size up will be too big in the legs though and not really worth it for time left.

Eskarina · 10/07/2011 16:27

Baby2b I'm having similar issues with maternity clothing, though in my case its mostly tops that are suddenly not long enough to cover bump and as you say, with 5 weeks left it hardly seems worth getting more. I've got casual clothes but have been wearing the same 3 shirts for work for a while now, and am exhausting the selection of accessories I have to make them look different. I'm not so worried about trousers as I prefer skirts/dresses in this weather anyway.

Baby2b · 10/07/2011 16:45

My bump bands from new look mean that most of my tops are still wearable. Would much prefer dresses, but they are either too tight or look like a tent. Big bump does not always come with big boobs Grin

Eskarina · 10/07/2011 21:59

I don't find bump bands great, they always make thinks look lumpy. I also have disproportionate bump to boobs so not all dresses are good. Mostly empire line styles are OK. I must admit to being very tempted to go back on ebay and see if I can pick up anything cheaply to give me some variety for the next few weeks.

Baby2b · 10/07/2011 23:47

I can't sleep and dh is snoring his head off EnvySad

KateeTheBump · 11/07/2011 08:34

Hope you got to sleep eventually B2B? The night time peeing has started for me... practically every time I go during the day there is hardly anything (which is on average every 10 mins to half an hour Hmm) then as soon as I've laid down for half an hour, the pressure is off my bladder so it seems to properly fill up so I need a horse wee! So woke up a few times in the night having to go, grrr. Guess its not going to get any better!

I think baby did a somersault this morning, I was lying partly on my back, but tilted over to the left and I felt this really strong kick/dragging combination movement - can only think he was doing a somersault and dragged his head/bum/heels across my front, very peculiar feeling! Grin

How is everyone this fine sunny morning?

vallinnapod · 11/07/2011 09:33

Esk - horrible scare but glad all is OK. Really does set your mind at ease to get checked out. I have to say, having been once for lack of movement I really wouldn't think twice about heading back now at the slightest concern. They actively encourage it.

Katee - sympathise with the night time peeing. Twice a night for me - would be more but the five flights of stairs are an amazing deterrant (and therefore pelvic floor toner!)

My bub has started moving when I move too - I am sure he has done this before but I just havenb't felt it. I was at the gym on Saturday and serious thought he was going to appear all Alien-like through my lefthand side! I guess I should have stopped but instead I thought if I kept going he would calm down... nope! Baby is supposedly head down but he must be slightly twisted as all my jabbing movements are on the left.

As for 'clicky' movements, I sort of have this around my ribs when I am getting booted there, clearly a foot/hand slipping of the bone Confused

Thankfully all maternity clothes still fit. Gym clothes on the otherhand...ironically the only bottoms that fit me as two pairs of neon hotpant-esque shorts! They sit low so go below the bump! I have one gym t-shirt that fits and one that exposes the bump - I am really past caring though! I go to the gym un washed with no lenses in....I sort of assume if I can't see others then they can't see me Grin

Grin Confused and Shock at 'fountainy boobs'!! Still I hope mine a spurters for bub's sake!

DH and I are currently not speaking.....we were at his folks this weekend. There are two nieces who had birthday presesnts....annoyingly noisy ones...DH was playing with one of these and I told asked him not to as it was really pissing me off. He then had a go back saying it was only a kids toy to which I pointed out I would tolerate would be fine with it if the kids were playing it but could he stop. Any who, it's now all blown out of proportion and neither of us are backing down. Oh, well....

vallinnapod · 11/07/2011 09:36

PS - dann Victoria Beckham! I loved Harper as a girls name! That'll have to come off the list now!

KateeTheBump · 11/07/2011 10:01

Five flights of stairs? I would be investing in a chamber pot! Grin
