fala I cant believe your own mother told you to abort. How rude! Glad to hear that you have a good support network around you at this difficult time. Obviously we dont know exact details of your personal life but would it not be easier to limit your contact with her for a time. Explain to her why you cant see her just now. Maybe she will come to her senses and appreciate that she is getting a new cherub to swoon over. ?

Have ordered some mat clothes from the Next sale, will be interesting to see if they fit when the arrive Hmm dont like ordering clothes online, prefer to try before I buy.

Im 16/40 today and have been having some discomfort with my hips/pelvis recently. Hoping that it doesnt develope in to something more as bump grows. Will speak to MW at 16wk appointment (but that will actually be at 17wks due to work commitments) if it persists.

Congrats on all the happy scans, think there are a few this week so goodluck to you ladies as well.

supa I feel the same with cereal just now. Havent enjoyed a bowl in about 2months Sad Really miss cereal!

Hi everybody! Haven't been on for ages so apologies have only skim-read the last few pages but glad everyone's okay and that the big Primary school production went off okay, how horrible to see your pupils manipulated by publicity stunts in that way.

To be honest I have been a bit miserable for last fortnight and not wanted to moan on here, had a rotten cold and been totally unable to shake it, and ended up feeling totally fed up with the whole being pregnant thing. But feeling much better now regained that sprightly 2nd trimester vibe, even been back at the gym
(top tip- if you're a gym member and you can't/don't want to cancel, go to your gym and MAKE them devise a pg workout programme, I had to really nag and the instructor had to go away and research it, but I'm so glad I did)

I also was given my first ever seat on the Tube this week, (probably cos I was feeling so poorly and tired that I self-pityingly sighed and stuck my belly out) I could have hugged the lovely kind man, instead I just beamed and thanked him profusely. I can't blame my fellow commuters as I'm barely showing and just look a bit out of shape with a pot belly. I am hoping this is because I am 5ft7 and a first-timer. It sounds like other people are properly showing now.

Oeisha I can feel strange feelings too, like a wriggly-fluttery-bubbly thing but definitely not wind, and the other day I really thought I could feel a kick, like somebody was flicking my tummy with their finger but from the inside. To me it figures that we can feel the baby as must be quite big by now.

Conchita Interesting...I'd literally just joined a newly opening gym a week before I found out I was pg (I mainly did it as to join the gym was cheaper than paying to swim twice a week!). It hasn't opened yet, but I'll certainly be making them adapt to my pregnancy. I'm also glad you think it's Yolkis too, and not my in-house tapeworm...seriously, not sure why my brain won't let me believe there's nothing wrong with Yolkis...though the movements have made me a little more excited...rather than just utterly exhausted.
I also made it back from Morrisons alive and well...if a little wet...

Once baby starts getting bigger and more active you will start to 'feel' pregnant iykwim.

Going back to baby bump nicknames.

Today, out of nowhere DD(3y) started calling my belly Baby Bobby! And at bedtime tonight she asked to kiss 'Bobby' and if 'Bobby' was coming to the beach with us tommorrow.
She is very proud of herself! Got to love the imaginations of toddlers, so lovely!

Hi everyone. Thought I'd pop myself on the stats.

Thankfully my sickness has buggered off in the last couple of weeks, was miserable. I lost half a stone in 2 weeks but have since put that back on. On the last weekly shop I went mad and bought all of my favorite meals that I've missed - on the menu tonight, chilli Grin Hope those of you still suffering feel better soon, it's so crap.

We finally told everyone we're having another over the weekend, it was such a relief to be able to tell everyone. A bit of an anti-climax though, people just don't seem as happy and excited as they did when we announced my first pregnancy (he was the first granchild, nephew etc so maybe that's why). Anyone else find this? Hopefully they'll step up as bit time passes.

hey everyone, just reading the last post about rediscovering your favourite meals - does anyone else worry that you're never going to want to eat normal food again??? Even on the days when I feel a bit more normal (I'm 13wks today) I still only want to eat toast. I'm stressing out that my brain is never going to let me eat anything again! somebody reassure me!!! Sad

Hi everyone,

Hope no one minds me joining! I was on the Feb 2012 bus, until my scan on Friday showed I am further along than expected and also found out that the consultant will prob suggest another c-section, meaning even earlier delivery. So due date is 21st Jan (if not earlier)!

Told work today - the most un-maternal bunch of women I've ever met. Got a 'oh.....well... congratulations. We'll have to tell Personnel and start thinking about maternity leave now...' - whatevs!

Lippy I could only eat toast for two months, couldn't even stomach water sometimes, then, in the space of 3 day's I was eating steak and chips (best meal I've ever eaten)! Although, I still can't have cream crackers in the house and I struggle with meals heavy on garlic, it's only been a week or two since my sickness has subsided though and I still feel jippy sometimes. I'm sure you'll be fine and hopefully soon! Smile (bet you're sick of hearing 'try ginger' by this point ay? I was!)

oh yeah! ginger really doesn't do much for me anyway! i guess people are just rtying to help but REALLY!!! after 2 months do they not think I've TRIED IT ALREADY????!!!

thanks for the reassurance, i keep thinking it's subsiding, and then bleeeeuuurgh. just realised today that i can't drink apple juice, makes me sick every time Sad fingers crossed it'll change soon!! pleeeease!!!!!

Oh ladies, what an amazing morning!! It's my birthday, but that's totally secondary as we're just back from having the dating scan... All good news (so far), so amazing to see BamBam (from 'bambino' as we're just back from Italy) wriggling about and basically living his own little life in my tummy. A 'very busy baby' as I was told, jazz hands and mini tantrums by the look of things! Don't know where he gets all this energy from as we are both lazy buggers...
So I can't stop smiling right now and can't wait to show everyone the pix - also to tell work tomorrow that I'm taking 2012 off!!

Curlygirl what a great birthday! I had my scan on Friday which was amazing.. Doing lots of high kicks (my mum said just wait til you can feel them.. thanks!!).. Isn't it a relief to know things are going ok :)

Lippyhippy I don't think I'll eat normally again either.. Have had an appetite but then just seems that all my favourite things make me ill for days.. Pregnancy is weird!

Congratulations to everyone with the great scans!! I'm feeling more and more movement each day! Unfortunately this morning I woke up with sciatic nerve pain down the left side of my bottom :(. Does anyone know how to subside the pain whilst walking? At the moment I am lifting one cheek and walking around the house, which my DH found hilarious at breakfast... It is a killing me.

Yay to more bril scan news! Won't be long until he 20 weeks scan news starts popping up on here!

milkyways - i know this sounds weird, but a friend of mine who sufers with sciatica normally but even more so in pregnancy swears by wearing a wedge heel - it seems to throw her weight forward slightly and in doing so relieves some of the pain/pressure on the nerve. I know pg is not the time for tottering in heels ideally, but might be worth a go!

Still reeling from all the stories of negative reactions from mothers/mils on news of pgs - it's awful. I'm sure that in the vast majority of cases it's 100% their issue and maybe not even really connected to the baby news, perhaps some other resentment/personal failing/regret. I'm just so shocked and appalled that they feel it is ok to be negative about your baby news. I had a friend in a similar situation, who was expecting baby number three. Her mother told her that it would be best all round to terminate the pregnancy as the financial implications of a third child would be too much. Baby number 3 was very much wanted and is now a treasured 3 year old, with a doting grandmother, but i don't think my friend will ever quite forgive her that piece of advice.

Wowwwwww!!! I'm on cloud nine too curly can't stop smiling and looking at our photo. Had scan today and all looks well our baby has been nicknamed smurf as looks like one on scan pic for some mad reason? Watched smurf do a roll and turned onto belly face down was fab and such a relief to see him/her.

Told work today and the men reacted better than the lady in my department got hugs n kisses off them but just an oh congratulations off lady colleague. So good to finally be open though feels great.

Welcome to all the new ladies it's a huge list now can't keep up!

On the food front I can eat most stuff but get bloated very quickly and still wrenching in mornings. Last time I went off bacon and tuna but can stomach those so it's bit different second time round maybe it's a girl lol???

Do you lot still take colic acid or are we meant to stop at 12 weeks?

Can't believe it I'm 15/16 weeks depending who you talk to and spent the day vomiting. I ate a few crackers and water and then on the way out of the house had to unlock the house dash back in and be sick. Children were most upset and dh upset cause I was late; dam that vomiting for making me late.

On a good note had my 16 week check up with the midwife who I have known for 12 years. She gave me a big hug listened to the heartbeat and didn't rush me and spent 30 mins talking over things. Hope she can deliver no.5.

Welcome to LisaKay and any others baby-brain has made me forget...
...seriously burnt dinner thanks to baby-brain. Not good. Smell of burnign permiated the house and is making me feel grim.

Very glad to hear about all the positive scans too...

Hubby's now red (purple in places), not pink, and they've finally put him on steroids...just need to see if that helps now. Liberally applying calomine lotion to ease things a bit, but, well...

shonnomanom I hope the visit to the beach went well. Here in Derbyshire it's been stair-rod rain most of the day.

milkyways I had pain in my right buttock last week (made me want to fall over), sister in law suggested a Miracle Box (exercise ball) for doing my pelvic exercises on and it seems to be helping...perhaps just coincidence.

I, like others, was hoping the nausea would be at lease easing off. I have good days where I feel I can cope with it to then have a hideous day where I barely keep anything down. :( Still don't really want sweet things and one thing that makes me sick one day will be fine the next...bloody hormones! Might bring it up at 16wk checkup if it doesn't easer off.

hi every one not been on in a while been so tired but thank god the sickness has gone now :) i'm now convinced i'm having a girl this time as i had the rash on my belly with ds that you get due to male hormones but its not appeared!!! i guess this will keep dp happy.
any one else got any feels about what they are having??

I have this horrific pain in the back of my thighs, radiating up and down. By the evening I struggle to walk and the pain brings tears to my eyes :(

I suffered badly with SPD carrying dd but that seemed more at the front and this definitely seems more round the .

I'm going to speak to the midwife Thursday, reckon its either 'pelvic girdle pain' or baby laying on a nerve.

Speaking of my sister, she had her 12 week scan today. She's having TWINS!!
They were in shock that they were pregnant again never mind the fact that its twins Shock
She will have a Csection so If I go over we could end up in hospital at the same time...

Our beach trip today was not great. Looks like dd has developed travel Sickness, she was sick twice on the way up. Bought travel sickness tablets for her and she was fine on the way home. And the forecast for sunshine all day was rubbish as it rained all day. It stop long enough for us to enjoy a walk along the beach - just.
