Falaba: about a week ago I really needed blancmange
but we had none in the house (except a packet of instant custard 3 years past its sell-by date...). All I could find was quick jel mix, so I made that up with milk instead of water and though it was disgustingly sweet, it hit the spot
. The next day I went out and bought 3 packets so as not to be caught out again. Uff!
Today it's cold and chucking it down here, so we've had a really nice lazy family cosy homey day, kids listening to Pippi Longstocking audio CD, I made a huge roast dinner, DH is hanging pictures we've been meaning to hang for years months. I had the feeling something was missing after my after-dinner snooze dinner and suddenly it dawned on me: bread-and-butter pudding. Real comfort food from my childhood. So I whipped one up and everybody loved it. We don't usually do desserts in our house, so it was extra special. Now the kids are racing outside splashing in puddles and getting soaking wet in the rain just before bathtime.
Those of you with older kids (mine are almost 6 and 7.5), are you getting impatient about when to tell them? I can't wait! Even DH said to me today "Shall we tell them?" But I want to wait until after 12-wk scan, looming on Thurs (not so conveniently timed to coincide with DD2's birthday party) and poss even wait for Papp-A test results, though that will be 2 more weeks, don't know if I can wait that long! My girls really want a baby brother or sister anyway, so I know they'll be over the moon, they've been nagging me for ages.
Have a good week!
