....joins in the monday scan club.....

Am looking forward to it so much but also a bit apprehensive! Especially the 'drinking a pint of water an hour before' business. Might be TMI but toilet visits have definitely increased in frequency over the past 5 or so weeks :o( Will just have to cross my legs and try not to think of waterfalls, babbling brooks, etc Wink

But before that I'm off to see Dylan Moran tonight so am very excited Grin

Deesus · 26/06/2011 09:17

by the way....i didn't mean to put that first grin in the above message. Not sure what happened...don't think i'm awake yet...

GiraffeAHolic · 26/06/2011 11:40

Deesus I got a bit carried away with the water drinking - was determined to get a good picture.

The sonographer started the scan down under my belly button but had to keep moving up towards my ribs because my bladder was so full Blush

The baby is waving in the scan pic and I can't help thinking 'not waving but drowning'!

To whoever it was that asked, nope I'm not Mel but good luck to her too Grin

shonnomanom · 26/06/2011 12:14

mummyzoe, I feel the same, my nuasea and major dislike for all cereals is getting worse and im now 13 weeks. Also my tiredness is getting worse.
I try to eat often and drink plenty although water tstes funny to me just now. I have discovered a fresh lemon and lime drink in the fridges in Tesco that was nice yesterday.

knittie glad you got your car sorted out

wombat I am huge incomparison to last time! And for some reason Im still trying to hide it rather than show it off. Maybe its because I look like im ready for my 20week scan rather than just had my 12week scan Blush

Im not sure about nanny but I am a Nanny.

mama5 take care of yourself x

I never drank a pint for the scan, couldnt handle the pressure and the more I drank the more I felt sick. But the sonographer was happy. At my 12wk scan with Dd my bladder was too full and was sent to the toilet. Hadnt drank the instructed amount that time either.

Good luck to the Monday scan club!!! Will be thinking of you all x

Nanny01 · 26/06/2011 13:11

I used to be a nanny before the kids. Now have my 4 kidss plus one on the way. Trying to relax this weekend and celebrate the good news that our local authority is agreed to a proposed statement to help him at school with the dyslexia and asperger syndrome. I did try to work 18 months ago as a teaching assistant but one of our other kids was struggling at school so gave it up.

I have also come sown with a horrible cold and feeling hot and cold and puffed out to. Unfortunately for me have to keep going. Next week is already so busy with school visits and hospital appointments my anxiety's aren't getting to me.

Conchita · 26/06/2011 13:28

Mama5 am so glad you are beginning to feel better and thanks for thinking of the rest of us. Hope you keep popping on as you've been such a big part of this thread to date.

am feeling slightly overwrought today. Last night burst into tears in public for no real reason but think deep down am scared about the scan tomorrow and also feeling very hormonal, think the bean was having a bit of a growth spurt yesterday. Lucky for me my scan is quite early in the day so hopefully no waiting about with a full bladder. Think I may try to drink my water half hour before, not the hour that they tell you, as they're bound to be late Hmm

all being well at least we can finally start telling more people, think the secrecy adds to the stress too

Mum2be79 · 26/06/2011 13:35

Love and hugs to Mama5isalive

It's so hot! The lovely weather has brightened my mood. I sat in the garden and finished my end of year assessments and my lovely little 5 & 6 year olds have all done really well on their Numeracy tests so that's cheered me up. I'm now about to mark their 'Push and Pull' science assessments. Not looking forward to that - who likes physics, even at 5 and 6 years old???

June is such a busy month. Not only do I have the usual planning and marking to do but I need to finish my reports (just the target setting bit) and mark all the assessments ready to input the bloody data on 'assessment manager' at school. Such fun! (NOT!) I'm looking forward to June 30th (I'm not striking). That is when all the assessments and reports need to be in by.

Capybara · 26/06/2011 13:39

Glad to hear some of you are also feeling huge! I haven't gained any weight yet, but this week I've suddenly begun to look really pregnant (and this is only my first pregnancy) Not sure whether I'll be able to fool everyone until 14 July (NT scan), especially the eagle-eyed secretary at work :) I had my initial dating scan last Monday, but since I was only 9.5 weeks there wasn't all that much to see, other than a nice strong heartbeat :) Good luck to all those who're having scans tomorrow.

Re. cures for nausea (if only) Not sure whether this counts as a cure or just a craving, but I've been finding that green veg (salad leaves, broccoli etc) and citrus really help to settle my stomach. I made a raw cabbage salad the other day with lots of lemon and a bit of salt and that went down well. Ditto the five (!) clementines I've eaten so far this afternoon.

SlightlyScrambled · 26/06/2011 15:09

Best of luck for all the scans tomorrow. I've my fingers and toes crossed for you all.

I've still got morning sickness and the only thing I've noticed is that if I go for longer than 2 hours without food, I feel rotten. So snacking helps me.

I had a craving for lemon moouse yogurts, they have lovely ones in M&S but there is none in Finland. I scoured the shops looking for an alternative but they had nothing. Fat lot of good these cravings are doing me. No proper chipper chips here either :(

I've had some feelings of baby kicking too. Fish you described it very well. Like someone is rubbing a finger along my skin. DH is very doubtful but easy for him to say.

I'm showing too. Much earlier than last time. So I dug out my mat clothes and am wearing the trousers. Ahh, the relief is great. No more belts digging in to the belly.

LaBobkin · 26/06/2011 15:25

Hi all, scan coming up tomorrow (Monday) too. It's first thing in the morning so hopefully I won't have too long to get worried... don't mean worried really just obviously hoping everything is ok. I'm going to re-read the letter they sent me and see if they mention anything about drinking lots of water.

Sickness / tiredness have been much better this week but for some reason I'm exhausted today... feet up on the sofa this afternoon!

Good luck to all having scans tomorrow!

Spagbolagain · 26/06/2011 15:55

Hi everyone, we had our scan. New EDD is 4th Jan, baby was waving away.

We had the bloods taken and the nuchal measurement. We haven't got the report yet, but the measurement is 3.1 which I believe is borderline, so I expect they are going to tell us the risk is higher than we would ideally want. But we think we wouldn't want an amnio anyway due to the miscarriage risk, so I plan to try not to worry as it's not a really high measurement, and the risks are just statistics whatever your measurments are. She was clearly also struggling to do the measurement as the baby was in the wrong position, so not exactly filled with confidence there.

Anyways, am just delighted the little wriggler is there and looks ok so far :)

ghosteditor · 26/06/2011 16:21

That sounds really exciting spag, can't wait for my scan now! Great that you're not fretting too much about what sound like some very dubious test results, there's no way you can know until they say for sure. my scan is in eight days...

Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow Grin

Had a lovely weekend littering around the house as it's my first weekend at home in six. DH is away again unfortunately but I've managed to get lots of things done - gardening and washing the patio doors, rescuing cat from neighbour's first storey roof ( Angry twice - let's try not to think about how we're not supposed to go up ladders) and washing etc. Lots of sitting down in between required though! Also did a short run and a yoga session so I'm feeling virtuous (sorry for the gratuitous boasting, just so pleased to be feeling well enough to get things done). I also quite like some time alone now and again, so with the weather on top it's been a pretty good weekend for me.

ghosteditor · 26/06/2011 16:22

Littering?! I meant 'pottering' which is obvs not a word my phone recognises...

BigHotMama · 26/06/2011 17:49

Very envious of you lot having scans tomorrow got to wait another 3 weeks for mine yet, time seems to be dragging.

I definitely feel a lot bigger with dc2 belly sticking out a lot more but somehow still managing to squeeze into my normal clothes but won't be long before wearing mat clothes, anyone know of any good places to buy holiday mat clothes? Thinking nice maxi dresses or pretty skirts etc

Nausea still coming and going so having to eat lots of mini snacks hubby said everytime I go into the kitchen i come away with something in my mouth Blush but agree feel like drinking citrus flavours or in this weather jubbly and ice cream are going down a treat.

If I sit on the sofa and close my eyes I can fall asleep within seconds so still feeling mega tired too.

Not had any hormonal moments yet but am sure I will over next few weeks as seem to remember having them around the 12 week mark.

Good luck for tomorrow's scans everyone x

blueeyedmonster · 26/06/2011 19:58

Good luck for all with scans tomorrow!

We have had a restful weekend and ds has been wanting dp pretty much the whole time so I have been able to rest! Went to a park this afternoon but just been pottering at home the rest of the time.

My belly is bigger than last time. I am about as big as I was at approx 20 weeks with ds!! Can't wear any tightish tops or my cover would be well and truely blown. My sil said I was getting big already the other dya nad I had one of those elastic bottom tops on that are not tight at all!! Glad I am hitting 12 weeks next week. I need my mat trousers already but only have on pair that fits!!

Mum2be79 · 26/06/2011 21:55

BigHotMama I'm sort of pleased to hear you're having hormonal moments around the 12 week mark. This is our DC1 and I was beginning to think I was having a mental breakdown since I was getting red hot angry one minute and then tearful and sobbing literally the next!

What's everyone symptoms like at the moment?

I've less breast tenderness, nausea on and off, tiredness comes and goes every 3 or 4 days, hormonal (angry/tearful!) and period type pains about once or twice a week. Still have a food aversion after 4pm and can't stomach red meat. I've lost 9lbs in 8 weeks.

BigHotMama · 27/06/2011 06:28

mumtobe79 lol I'm not 12 weeks yet but remember going off my head at that stage with dc1, I yelled like a nutter at my friends while we were at a wedding and they couldn't believe how I over reacted as usually laid back so don't worry it's totally normal and you will probably laugh about it soon enough x

shonnomanom · 27/06/2011 08:12

HAPPY SCAN DAY LADIES!! Hope you all have a positive day

First day of the summer holidays here, bring on the long days, hopefully we'l have nice weather

Sho x

Conchita · 27/06/2011 11:39

Hello ladies am just back from my scan!
Everything is normal and I've got a very lively little bean in there. Still got to see a consultant about this inherited condition but from what the scan is picking up my baby is developing normally and not likely to be affected. Just trying to let it all sink it now- can't believe that little thing on the screen is really in my tummy. So big as well!

LaBobkin · 27/06/2011 11:53

Hi all, had scan this morning. All looks great - really relieved to see a lovely lively little baby in there! Took her ages to get the head measurement because it was moving so much! They moved my due date forward by 2 days, making it 6th Jan. Conchita, I know what you mean - it seems unbelievable that the baby is inside me!

We also volunteered for a research study that the hospital is doing - basically they look at various factors during pregnancy and try to link them to outcomes. For this there's a few extra scans (28 and 34 weeks) and some additional blood tests for both me and DH.

I feel like it's all very real now, and I can start to get excited... good luck to everyone else having scans today!

Conchita · 27/06/2011 12:21

laBobkin so pleased for you, it's exciting isn't it? Good for you for taking part in the research project, and helping other mums. Though rather you than me as I'm such a baby over blood tests. Blush Sure I'll breeze through them by the end!

Moobee · 27/06/2011 12:53

I'm waiting for my scan. Goodness it's nerve racking!

Also really need the loo (crosses legs). husband doing tap impressions which doesn't help.

ghosteditor · 27/06/2011 13:34

wow conchita and labobkin congratulations, so pleased for you! Did you come away with photographs? can they give them to you as digital files too?

Nanny01 · 27/06/2011 13:38

Hi just got back from my 12 week scan. Everything was good and the sonographer was nice for a change. We had to wait for an hour after appointment time and then after she started the scan she said we had to go for a walk to get baby to roll over. Got a lovely picture. The only down side was I had to get my ds's old child minder to pick him up as we weren't going to be back in time to pick him up from nursery.

Nanny01 · 27/06/2011 13:45

ghosteditor - normally you have to pay a little something per photo. We only got one as we will scan it in later. You can't laminate them either so take care of them as they won't just rescan you if you loose them. If you want a really clear scan photo we found the ones we had done privately were better but we planning a 4d scant 28 weeks which I am looking forward to.

Dh was really cross as he hoped he would be back at work by 11.30 but didn't till 1.00. He had to say he was with me at the hospital for womens problems. Which isn't a lie I guess.
