Mopsy looking forward to hearing about it later.

Kri5ty I've got a Sonoline B 3mhz doppler and been able to find the heartbeat since 10weeks (as thats when we got it) and its very clear once you find it lol. am 12weeks now and good for reassurance that everything is good, I listened this morning along with DD and you could hear baby moving as every now and then you got a swishing sound :)

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 11:24

Ooh I am very tempted to get a doppler now. Sounds like it is a another good way of getting children to bond with new baby! Although my DD told me she wanted the baby out to play now on Sunday so maybe we have told her a bit too soon!!

Good luck with todays scans!

xstitch · 13/06/2011 11:52

I want one too. Had a very stressful morning then started worrying had affected baby. Which gets me stressed again, keep going round in circles.

I am 14+3 now so guess you would be able to hear it by now. I have my booking appointment next Monday.

Mizza76 · 13/06/2011 12:03

HI everyone. Finally had my booking appointment today. All seems fairly routine except for already low blood pressure!

Anyway, I wanted to share something cute. A couple of weeks ago I posted that my older daughter, who is nearly 5, reacted badly when I told her that we were going to have another baby. At some point last week however she cheered up immensely when I told her that the baby is going to bring her and her sister presents. Ever since then she has been talking about the presents non-stop, and bombarding me with questions: why can't you see them on the scan (they are hidden behind the baby), how did the presents get in there (so far it hasn't occurred to ask how the baby got in there!), will they be wrapped etc... I'm hoping I can keep up the pretence until the baby is born and that no one will disabuse her!

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 12:07

Mizza that is lovely. My sister always jokes that giving birth to her second was nothing compared to birthing the boxed set of My Little Pony's that she brought with her for her older sister!

xstitch · 13/06/2011 12:29

You lot are a bad influence, I have just ordered one of those dopplers off Amazon.

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 12:31

no stop, I will have to go get one now!! DH will kill me.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 13/06/2011 12:47

Mizza We will be giving presents for DD from baby.

Xstitch What did you buy lol

xstitch · 13/06/2011 13:02

The Angel Sounds one.

Mizza76 · 13/06/2011 14:03

Pippy - very funny!!

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 14:46

Chicken pox test results back - I am immune so I can stop worrying now! Must have caught it when a child without getting the rash it seems.

msbuggywinkle · 13/06/2011 15:17

pippy that's great, less worrying for you now.

My friend had her baby on sunday morning, I'm going round with cake and lunch for her on wednesday. I'm really happy for her, both she and her two older sons wanted a girl ad they have one. Birth went quite smoothly, but she wants me to check her latch (I'm a breastfeeding counsellor) as the baby is clicking when she feeds. I get to cuddle a newborn!

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 15:46

thanks msbuggy. I did laugh when I read your post because my first pass I read "she wants me to check her hatch" and I assumed you were talking about something a whole lot more personal than breastfeeding!!

mopsytop · 13/06/2011 16:31

Hi everyone, scan went fine - baby moving about a bit and wiggling its arms. It's due on Christmas day now - eek! Very happy and relieved.

LittleBlueBoat · 13/06/2011 16:54

Good afternoon everyone Smile

Me and Aaron went swimming today and there was a two week old baby there and Aaron pointed to my tummy and said baby so i think he's got it. Also it was so cute and tiny compared to Aaron so i think its going to be strange lifting an almost 3 year old then a newborn Grin

I'm still having a bit of MS and i have had a headache yesterday. I'm 15 weeks today and i have my MW appointment on Wednesday.

Someone i know had a baby 3 weeks ago and is now in a mother and baby psychiatic (sp?) ward. Its so scary as i just didn't see it coming and she was fine in pg but then it just went down hill so fast. She might be there for 8 months and she has refused to see any of her family and friends and its hard to know what to do to help. I'm a bit worried as i'm already on Anti-depressents and i so do not want to get that bad Sad

I want to run out and start buying baby things but i have everything and i'm going to wait till 20 scan to know if its a girl or a boy then go and buy pink clothes if i need to but its so hard waiting.

ThePippy · 13/06/2011 17:07

Congrats mopsy - a real Christmas baby 0- how exciting!

LittleBlueBoat · 13/06/2011 17:10

congrats mops

Earwiggo · 13/06/2011 20:27

LittleBB - sorry to hear about your friend, maybe a 'get well/sorry to hear you are ill' card would let her know you are thinking of her and not ashamed to know her iyswim. Sounds daft but alot of people are ashamed/scared of mental ill health and feel a need to hide it so if she doesn't want to see anyone that might be all you can do?

LittleMissFlustered · 13/06/2011 20:31

LBB, tough one to call. If she's retreating it's tricky to know what to do for the best:(

So, speak to me about foetal dopplers. I have hit amazon, but that pink thing seems unwieldy and clunky. Is it worth the twenty quid? Am fairly paranoid, and scan is nearly a fortnight off:(

thinkingpositive · 13/06/2011 22:49

Hi missflustered the AngelSounds Doppler looks rather chucky, yes but it does what it says on the box. I bought mine for £12.(can't really go wrong for £12.) Looking at all the reviews online, allot of ladies are pleased with it as am I.
However if you want to get a second opinion before you buy, wait for others on here to give you there opinion after trying it.
Secondly, I suppose everyone is different and has there own opinions so do some research and find one that you like. Good luck with the scan...

xstitch · 13/06/2011 23:00

DP has said 'you bought what!' although I think he is coming wound to the idea Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 13/06/2011 23:05

I decided to fling caution to the cat generated wind and bought the ugly pink thing and a double pack of lube gel. Thought about buying a cd as well but decided to behave. For now:o

kri5ty · 14/06/2011 09:34

thanks thinkingpositive :o i am ordering one right now! I think OH will roll his eyes when i tell him... until he gets to hear the heart beat!!

Oooo im so excited i shall be listeing every day no doubt!

Xiaoxiong · 14/06/2011 11:59

Have been mega busy so not around as much recently but saw a few new names on the thread, OiMissus, mmcheese, chocolatebourbon and emsies - hello hello, hope all is well.

Just got back from my 16 week midwife checkup - all well. Good to have all the results of the bloodwork back, I didn't realise they gave you an STD screening as well as iron levels and stuff, but I guess it's good to know I don't have HIV, syphilis or rubella! He got the heartbeat loud and clear, blood pressure fine, everything going well. A male midwife this time.

I described the tingling on the top of my right bum-cheek and numbness in my toes, and he said it was classic sciatica - he gave me the number for a local osteopath in case it gets any worse. I'm wondering if the problem was that I was still wearing my own clothes that were too tight - I'm wearing a maternity pencil skirt for the first time and, apart from making me look much thinner because it has extra fabric in the right places rather than just looking like I've stuffed myself into clothes that are too small, I haven't had a twinge all day.

DH really doesn't want to get a doppler - he thinks it will just cause anxiety if we can't find a heartbeat, so he would rather just lie with his ear pressed to my stomach every night. I think he is mainly hearing me digesting my dinner Hmm

Xiaoxiong · 14/06/2011 12:02

Also since full term is 37 weeks, the midwife said "well, you're nearly halfway through!!" which gave me a tiny heart attack - how can the time be going so fast??
