FairyBayleaf · 26/07/2011 09:25

Hello everyone,
Just checking in, as I haven't posted for ages, although I have been keeping up!

I've got my 20 week scan this morning and, for some reason, I'm feeling nervous about it. I didn't sleep well last night, as I kept going over all the questions I wanted to remember to ask (there's only three so I've no idea what I'm worrying about), and when I did drop off, I was dreaming about the scan and no-one listening to me or allowing me to ask my questions. How strange eh? So, I've woken up this morning a bit dazed and miserable, made worse by the fact that the skinny jeans i was wearing last week don't fit round my belly today. I wouldn't mind if I had a clear rounded bump, but I don't - I still just look fat! :(

Ooops - sorry! I sound really negative don't I? What a moaner! Hopefully all will go well at the scan, and I'll be feeling a bit more positive later on today. I'll make the effort to post something more cheerful to counteract this melancholy moan.

thinkingpositive · 26/07/2011 09:35

Awomancalledhorse A bounty pack is a folder that you are given at your 12 week appointment. At least that is when i was given mine.
Its has loads of info on pregnancy. Birth, after birth ect. It also informs you on your working rights, benefits you are entitled too and other useful info. Plus its filled with different company details and freebies.
Ask your midwife, she should know where to get one for you. However not sure they are available nationwide. I think its rather handy to keep my maternity notes in the folder as it keeps it clean.

Anyone else doing exercise? Swimming? How long and often should you swim within a week? I did 45 minutes of lanes last night and when i got out my tummy hurt! Is this normal or am i over doing it?

msbuggywinkle · 26/07/2011 09:42

Fairy Totally normal, for me anyway! My 20 week scan is friday and I'm stressing already and this is DC3. I don't get anxiety dreams, just constant butterflies.

I'm exhausted already today, the DDs were both up very very late last night making mud pies in the garden. Planning on doing some toy organising today, then my Mum will be round this afternoon. I will be lying on the sofa while she runs after the DDs for a couple of hours!

sevendwarves · 26/07/2011 10:26

Hope the scan goes well fairy.

I'm having a relapse today, DH has got the bug now as well. DS seems much better but is barely eating. The worst thing is we had to cancel DS's first speech therapy appointment which we've been waiting ages for.

MarkStretch · 26/07/2011 10:55

Hello all

Haven't posted since I joined but have been lurking and trying to keep up with the thread.

AWCH- a bounty pack is a big carrier bag full of stuff, little samples, magazines, vouchers, offers etc and you normally get two of them I think. A Mum one when you are pregnant and a New Baby one once the baby is born. Normally you get a voucher in your maternity pack and you can collect them from Boots or Sainsbury's.

DS (2) has gone to see Nanny today and DD (9) and I are going to have a little girly day and go out for lunch together. It's nice for us to have some time together. We are going to France tomorrow to stay with my Mum for a week who lives over there.

I haven't felt a lot of movements with this baby, I'm sure I felt the other two a lot earlier, I'm not worried as I have heard the heartbeat and I have a doppler at home so I can have a listen if I am concerned. My 20 week scan isn't until the 15th of August when we can have a good look.

Anyone else bloody ravenous? I can't stop eating!

Awomancalledhorse · 26/07/2011 11:42

Damn, so I missed out on free samples Angry Will ask MW when I next see her, in september....is the maternity pack all the different leaflets (like the surestart one/smoking whilst pregnant etc)?

thinkingpositive, I don't think you're overdoing it but when I was on one of my walks last night my bump was itching like crazy!! How bad is the pain?

Good luck at the scan fairy!

Hi MarkStrech, sounds like you've got a great day planned with DD! Hope you all have a lovely time in France.
We've got a home doppler too..and I must say the sound quality is better than the MW's one!
I'm finding it hard to eat so much, I'm getting hungry..starting a meal & then my stomach seems to get full really quickly!

sevendwarves · 26/07/2011 20:54

Hope everyone has had a good day.

I've just joined pampers baby club to get coupons for money off nappies. We got a booklet full of them when DS was tiny!

After 2 days of feeling crap and not eating much my neat round bump has gone and I'm back to looking fat again :( Should I be worried?

KateM77 · 26/07/2011 21:16

Hello all. I'm pleased to report that DD seems much better now. We've had a sick-free day and she's eating well again, so it's back to work and nursery for us tomorrow. I'm kind of looking forward to it so that I get a rest - I'm exhausted after this weekend!

OiMissus · 27/07/2011 07:39

Morning all,
Hope everyone's scans are going well. Gload to hear that kate's DD is feeling better. thanks for the pampers link seven, I'm planning on using washable nappies, but I won't turn away freebies! I'm sure that it all comes in handy.
Who posted earlier about overdoing things... the woman at the aquanatal class thoroughly recommended keeping exercising, but with warnings. She said that my bobypump class was fine, but be careful with certain tracks. In particular ab exercises, - just last week I was bragging on here that I can still do the plank, and now she's told me to give it up! ...It was quite nice to have an excuse to do one track less. :)

DarciesmumandBump2 · 27/07/2011 08:42

Kate good to see your DD is feeling better.
Seven hope you don't catch the bug and everyone feels better soon

Well we survived the first day of summer holidays yesterday lol.
Just waiting for my sainburys delivery and then going to take DD to a playdate with her cousin.

Think we've decided on a name for a girl - Isobel. can't agree on a boys name at the mo.

OiMissus · 27/07/2011 08:56

Isobel is nice. It's classy/classic and not too popular. Izzy can be a cute short form, or there are other choices as such as Belle and Bella - but I think like Vanessa (my name) it's a name that most people will stick to the full version of. (I've never really had my name shortened and believe myself to be lucky for it!)
Boys names are tough. We're stuck. Something will turn up in the next 4 months...
You're lucky with the weather! It was glorious yesterday (i'm in the NW) and today promises similar. Shame I'm stuck in the office.

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 08:57

eurgh i have morning sickness i think Confused

I had nothing at all during the first 12 weeks, just slight nausea (which when i ate went away)

but today i actually feel like i am going to be sick.. that horrible mouth watering feeling you get, my tummy is doing backflips :(

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 08:58

I wanted isobella if we were having a girl... but OH (who always finds something wrong with a name), said "my dad will call her izzy pop, like fizzy pop" ... honestly men!!

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 09:02

As for other names, we were all set for jasmine or sofia... then he decided he didnt like after a month or so... Boys are harder, he loved harley... until someone put him off, he likes zac (but im not too sure), he also likes zane and saul

Just realised 3 posts in the space of 5 mins... as you can tell im soooo busy!

OiMissus · 27/07/2011 09:34

I like the idea of grandpops calling his granddaughter Izzypop. I think it's really sweet!
And what is it with men and z-names?
I quite liked Harvey, but DH says that people will just think of Jordan's son - ???? - so now I have no idea.
"Leon" won't go away though. Although I'm really not sure, maybe it's not the name I like but the associations... I like the idea of having my little lion cub, who will then grow up into a rather dishy French assassin...

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 09:40

I know!! dan calls his dad "pops" too, so it Izzy pop works well! i think he is just worried as his nephew is called jacob, and his dad just calls him "crackers"

Ooo i lurve Leon! he would be a hit with the ladies!!

I want a name that is not too popular that every child is called it, i love my name... i used to get called kirsty (it's kristy) but i have not yet met another!! Dan on the other hand doesnt like his, as everyone is called it!

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 09:41

Amber was also one i loved... but with a surname of Ancell ... it sounds a bit like an adult movie star Hmm

Mizza76 · 27/07/2011 09:48

My brother's wife just had a baby a couple of days ago. It's the first grandson on my side after 5 granddaughters. They haven't announced the name yet but I am absolutely paranoid that they are going to use the boy's name I have always wanted had any of my girls been boys - and that I am planning to use if I have a boy in December. My other brother (who doesn't know what name I want) is even walking around saying he thinks that "my" name is the one they'll go with. I've always imagined a boy of mine with this name..... cross your fingers for me!!

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 09:52

aww mizza i have everything crossed for you!!

msbuggywinkle · 27/07/2011 09:58

seven Don't worry, baby has probably just shifted round!

kri5ty We're the same, DP and I both have extremely well-used names, so our DDs so far are Helena and Felicity and have two middle names (one from his family, one from mine)

I really like Isobel/la wanted it for DD2 but DP doesn't like it.

OiMissus · 27/07/2011 10:08

Crossed fingers for mizza!
I have a name for a girl that we aren't telling about, just in case someone else uses it. Was looking forward to having a girl so we could "get in first", but now we know we're having a boy.
So now we'll definitely have to have a second one, ...I'll be gutted if we don't have a girl (only because I want to use the name! For no other reason at all!)... We might have to keep trying - or maybe son number 7 will get a girl's name. :)
Maybe I should have number one first (at age 39) before I start planning my football team... maybe one will turn out to be enough!

OiMissus · 27/07/2011 10:10

And seven my bump looks different everyday. Sometimes it swings a bit left, others a bit right. And at 21+5, I've only ever felt the baby move once.
I'm not worrying. I've decided that he baby is going to be very well behaved. :)

kri5ty · 27/07/2011 10:13

here here vanessa :) i have felt no movements at all... so i think i am going to have a very lazy / very well behaved boy!

I shall find out tomorrow eeeek excited!

seven mine also changes daily, sometimes it s huge round bump, sometimes its just podge, and today it is very soft, rather than hard :) i just think it is where bump is lay... dont worry about the hardly eating thing, it will have taken all it needs from your supplies... so in reality it is you that will suffer, rather than bump ;)
