Thanks Try doing lots of pelvic floor exercises before the pain gets much worse.

msbuggywinkle · 09/07/2011 09:11

Kite Welcome and congratulations!

aethelfleda Me too, something about 3rd time round do you think?! I also feel much more pregnant than 17 weeks.

Any exciting weekend plans anyone? We're not doing much today as we were at a fundraiser for a commune last night, so we're just going to go to a cafe for breakfast this morning then do a bit of shopping. Planning on attacking the DDs toy boxes tomorrow!

sevendwarves · 09/07/2011 13:41

Congratulations kite, how nice to hear a positive IVF story, especially in the current circumstances regarding funding cuts.

Did anyone else see on the news the woman who was refused IVF funding because her partner has a 20 year old son?

sevendwarves · 09/07/2011 13:43

We must be starting to have the next lot of scans soon, is anyone else finding out what they're having?

LittleMissFlustered · 09/07/2011 21:20

My next scan not due until the end of august, as they wait until nearly twenty two weeks here. Not sure about finding out the sex. If I do, I'll not be telling anybody.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/07/2011 21:30

Welcome Kite

Our next scan is 10th August Smile and we're not finding out.
My poor baby girl has got a cold, which has resulted in a chest infection and my baby being wheezy - damn Asthma! After emergency dash to docs on Thursday night with my baby having a migraine and vomiting x5 she is now on anti-biotics and steroids Sad sleeping soundly for now tho.

sevendwarves · 10/07/2011 08:52

Sorry to hear that darcies, hope she gets better soon.

msbuggywinkle · 10/07/2011 09:12

Darcies sounds crap, I hope she get better quickly.

My next scan is 29th July, making that week daftly busy for me. Its DD1's birthday that week and we're going to stay on our friends' commune too for a long weekend. Can't wait though, will be trying out our bell tent and going swimming in the lake lots.

We will be finding out the gender again, DP likes to and I don't mind either way.

KateM77 · 10/07/2011 10:07

Darcies sorry to hear that, hope she's much better soon

My 20 week scan is on 25th July and we won't be finding out the gender. We kept it a surprise with DD and it was so lovely.

Went to see Take That last night, which was amazing. Late night though and I've woken this morning with another horrible headache and feeling almost like I'm hungover (which I'm obviously not!) :(

HoneyLovesCake · 10/07/2011 12:11

Darcies hope your little one is feeling better soon.

My 20 week scan is next Friday 15th July when I'm 20 weeks exactly. Nice to hear someone so positive about waiting to find out the gender Kate I decided from the start that I wanted it to be a surprise but since I started shopping for baby clothes I have to admit I've been wavering a little.

zambooloo · 10/07/2011 15:23

Hi all, Sorry not been on here for ages... how is everyone? I haven't had a chance to look back through the thread so hope everyone is getting on ok. Just a quick question, possibly a silly one... just sitting here waiting to see if I can feel any movement yet - do you feel movement from the outside ie. with your hand on belly or is it from the inside? Sorry if that is a very silly thing to ask!

LondonGirly · 10/07/2011 16:46

Hi everyone,

We have got our next scan on the 21st and we are hopefully going to find out the gender of the baby. Will defintely help on the outfit buying!!

Zambooloo I am feeling movement, on the inside not the outside yet, no matter how much DH hopes that he can. I am 19 +3. Baby seems to like to move around whenever I sit down and relax or just before bed. Movements have got stronger over the last few days.

BluebellsintheSpring · 10/07/2011 21:18

Have been away so just enjoying reading the thread and catching up.

I'm a first timer but felt movement from 16 weeks. Now just turned 19 weeks and movements got much stronger recently - dh has been able to feel the kicks in last few days. As with others, baby likes to kick when I'm sitting down - in fact kicking right now!

Next scan is Mon 18th - it's the hospital policy not to tell you the sex so that takes care of that decision! Friend did the whole needle/thread test on me and apparently it's a boy - I'll just wait and see!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 11/07/2011 07:52

Thanks everyone Smile DD is feeling much better now her steroids kicked in. Back to school today for her, it's her sports day so inhalers at the ready!

Feel very tired today Sad hey ho couple more weeks then week off work Grin

kiteflying · 11/07/2011 08:44

Glad to hear your DD is better, Darciesmum - must have been a frightening experience.

My 20 week scan is on 20 July. We are having a surprise baby again. I prefer it that way and newborn babies look so sweet in white and cream anyway!
But looking forward to having another scan behind us, and to seeing the baby again to be honest. I fall in love all over again every time.
I am having the quadruple blood test as well. Is anyone else doing that?

No movement here. I had none with DD until 22 weeks - and that was the butterfly wings feeling, so I am being patient this time as well.

Thanks for all your welcome messages. It is a bit funny joining in so late in the pregnancy.

kri5ty · 11/07/2011 09:00

Scan is on the 28th July... i NEED to find out, i am a plannaholic!! So will need to get all my blankets/sheets/ clothes etc in the appropriate colous!!

I have a strange question about movements... i am a first timer, and although i can not describe them as "kicks" i am getting strange twinges in my lower belly (i think bump is still very low, as its pressing on my bladder still) The twinges feel like when you pull a muscle and you get like a shooting pain, but last say a second... could these be kicks but they are just too light to recognise yet??

aww kite thats brilliant! My best friend is going through IVF, so its fantastic news for you!!:o its made me smile!!

msbuggywinkle · 11/07/2011 09:11

Both of our DDs were named from their 20 week scan, we're decided again on names for this one so he/she will be named then. DD1 wants another girl so I'd rather deal with any disappointment while I don't have a newborn to care for!

I assume that it is because I'm so busy with the other two, but I can't get my head round being almost halfway there. We even had a clothes storage shift around yesterday and I've put some of the baby clothes away, but no, can't get my head around the idea at all.

kiteflying · 11/07/2011 09:22

My DD wants to call our baby Rapunzel!

So I will be dealing with her disappointment when baby is NOT born with magical golden hair.

kiteflying · 11/07/2011 09:23

Thanks kri5ty! What a lovely thing to say.

jomouse · 11/07/2011 10:47

Happy Monday all - welcome, kiteflying

Just started to feel little pops more and more over past few days. I hope thats movements starting or I have a serious problem with digestion.
This is going to sound a bit mental, but it kind of feels like this looks

#at=27

Kri5ty - I am getting the pains you are describing as well but think thats more ligaments and uterus expanding

Scan on Wednesday - yeeehaw!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 11/07/2011 12:02

ahh well its a good sign then, even though i am not feeling movements, there must be something happening if it is expanding!

itsybitsy08 · 11/07/2011 13:26

hiya again everyone!
I am awful at keeping up and doing personals, but every now and again I have a big catch up and really enjoy reading how you are all getting on!

I have my 20 week scan next monday and we will be finding out! just for practical reasons really - I like to know what im doing and we live in a smallish 2 bed cottage, so I would like to know if we have to think about moving as im not too sure about having a girl and boy sharing a room!

Im thinking its a boy this time - I feel totally different to how I did with DD - still sick, exhaused and have chronic heartburn/indegestion. Just been to docs again this morning - I have been signed off work for the past fortnight and have been signed off for the next two weeks as well!

I am having slight/occasional movements I think (I have an anterior placenta, which apparently makes it more difficult to feel kicks) I cant wait until I can feel them properly and remind me why I am going through this all!

Looking forward to hearing all about the scans, take care ladies :)

BeeMyBaby · 11/07/2011 14:14

I've got my scan tomorrow afternoon, although we are not finding out - DH really wants a boy so I'd rather wait till the baby is born as then he will be over the moon either way - as a baby is a baby.

I'm wondering how detailed the scans are at 20 weeks, we haven't had any other scans/tests than the dating scan, so no idea if baby is healthy, and I'm wondering if they will be able to tell if anything is majorly wrong at the 20week scan, it being called the anomally scan and all, or do they only do a really detailed scan if you had bloods taken and they were high risk?

Xiaoxiong · 11/07/2011 14:36

I've got mine on Thursday and we are not finding out, for exactly the same reasons as you Bee.

As well as DH, my mother is coming - under protest. I only agreed to it because it doesn't matter what she says to the ultrasound technician since I'll likely never see them again. I won't let her meet any of the midwives or my GP, ever - she is still up in arms about the fact that I don't have my own obstetrician scanning me once a week. She is browbeating me about gaining too much weight even though I HAVEN'T and it's really getting me down Sad

plupervert · 11/07/2011 14:41

Hi, all. Scan today and it looks like a girl (a very peaceful one, too, from the feel and sight of her! what a difference from DS, who was a very busy baby, and is an extremely active child!)

So sorry to post and run, but we are going on hols again this weekend (seeing my father this time), and will be moving house when we get back. Lots of legal stuff to sort out with giving notice, and my lower back is already giving me trouble, so packing books is going to be fun...
