AWCH I used all Tots Bots originals with the DDs, they lasted well and were a good fit for my tiny skinny babies! As DD1 was in them for three years though, they wer wrecked after DD2 so we're buying again this time round. Probably going for prefolds as this will probably be our last baby so not as much point shelling out! I use wool wraps, less washing and I prefer the natural fibres.

My friend's wedding on Saturday was lovely, have a picture of me and her with our matching mini-bumps! Bit annoying for us both as there were lush Pimms cocktails (I had a sip of DP's and was jealous!) but the DDs had great fun in the play area and the food was fantastic too. I was complimented a lot! Grin

Spent the day in PIL's garden yesterday, they put up their beach tent so I lounged about being brought iced drinks and chatting while they ran round after the DDs. I have great PIL!

Xiaoxiong · 04/07/2011 11:25

Morning all - kristy I hope you're feeling better, I am fair and burn easily so I know how crap it feels, put after-sun lotion/gel in the fridge and it will feel lovely when you put it on. Next time you need mrsbuggy's ILs to come round and put up their beach tent for you.

Having my first paranoid morning. I have a definite bump and until this morning it has been quite firm and shapely, and feeling occasional things in the morning and evening which I can only guess are movements - like muscle spasms, and gas bubbles. But this morning, my bump seems to have gone soft and flabby, and I haven't felt any of those little movements yet today. I keep telling myself the baby's just moved into some new position where I can't feel the movements as much...Anyway, trying to stay positive, but I hate worrying about stuff like this - and I know the worrying will get worse and won't stop for the rest of my life, all part of the wonderfulness of being a mother Hmm

Awomancalledhorse · 04/07/2011 11:48

I think I'm going to hell....I'm not one for oversharing so am not showing anyone ultrasound picture (they all look the feckkin same anyhoo!) so I posted a picture of an Elephants ultrasound on my facebook profile this morning, with the comment '20 weeks!!' already had one person congratulate me on it. Grin Wonder if anyone will notice if it's got a MASSIVE trunk?!

aethelfleda thanks, I think I'll have to buy lots of tester nappies to being with!
msbuggywinkle, I think I'll buy some tots bots..all in the name of research.

xstitch · 04/07/2011 12:04

I got on OK at the Dr thanks. He suggested ADs but I have agreed to try counselling first as I'd rather not if I can.

I am waiting for my appointment for my 20 week scan to come through. I really wish they would give more notice of them so you can make arrangements.

kri5ty · 04/07/2011 12:55

Awomancalledhorse maybe they just think its a VERY lucky boy/?!! ooo i am giggling at that, its really funny!!

xstitch i hope it works for you hun xxx

Tyelperion great idea thanks!! i shall be doing that later- need to remember to buy some first though lol

plupervert · 04/07/2011 16:30

Where did you find a picture of an elephant ultrasound? And wouldn't 20 weeks for an elephant be very earlier in their very long gestation period? Or was it from later in the elephant's gestation?! Confused

Awomancalledhorse · 04/07/2011 16:44

plupervert, it's a Ultrasound from when the elephant was 3months, according to the daily mail (I googled elephant ultrasound pictures & the best picture was from the DM), so I'm not lying...just didn't say whose ultrasound it was Wink.

Imagine being pregnant for as long as an elephant?!

Kri5ty, I could always say he takes after his dad Wink

xstich, glad it went ok at the GP's, have they said how long the waiting list for counselling is?
I got my 20 week scan date at my first scan...odd how it varies from area to area.

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2011 20:04

My '12w week' scan is tomorrow, at almost fifteen weeks by dates. Guess that means that if all is well it will be a shorter wait between the scans.

Off to make something salty for tea. Can't get enough salty stuff. Bacon sandwiches and ready salted crisps... I daren't buy multiple-packs anymore:o

aethelfleda · 04/07/2011 20:26

Mmmm, salty crisps (and salt and vinegar).... Me too!

AWCH, if you lile the idea of tots bots, also get a trial Little Lambs nappy&wrap, they are very similar but cheaper to buy (esp as they do a trial pzck nappy plus wrap on their websote). i used little lambs and Totsbots size ones with DD2 til she was big enough for the motherease onesize. Another thing worth trying is mini-Terry squares (I used little Ewes, no relation to little lambs!) with a nappy nippa- they make great spill cloths when you are done with them, still using mine now!!!

What I'm behind on are the newer brands like bumgenius, minki and Itti Bitti D'lish, not sure if they are too trendy/pricey for me to bother! Though some nappy brands have good resale value.

Ouch kri5sty! slather on the aftersun and hope it fades soon. I was out all day at the school fair on Sat but a pile of factor 30 and a hat seems to have saved my skin.

sevendwarves · 04/07/2011 20:36

LMF that's awful that your scan is so late, my dates were out so I actually had mine at 11 weeks, that feels like ages ago now though!

xstitch glad you got on ok at the gp's, I hope you get the help you need. I read your thread in chat yesterday, I didn't post as I didn't have any advice to offer but just want you to know I'm thinking of you.

xstitch · 04/07/2011 21:01

I don't know how long the waiting list is, wouldn't be surprised if baby is here first though. MW planning to some extra checks even by phone just to check on how I am feeling though.

aethelfleda · 04/07/2011 23:05

Hiya xstitch, that's good news that the MW is looking out for you. They are normally quite clued up about ante-natal mood problems as they are quite common ('ormones!). Our local hospital has a special MW who's dual trained in mental health stuff, it may be yours has one too. hope things improve a little for you soon, and that the counselling wait is not too long.

msbuggywinkle · 05/07/2011 08:34

xstitch I've always found waiting lists to be reasonable with counselling etc, I think 12 weeks is the longest I've waited from a referral (but I know you're in Scotland so how relevant this is I have no idea! Confused).

I'm starting to feel the baby moving when I'm not sitting still and concentrating on it now, this being DC3 the baby has lots of room so I seem to be feeling him/her swapping which side they're lying on quite a lot. I can identify what is going on in there more easily this time it seems.

Went to the Dr yesterday, I had to have a repeat urine test sent off after my booking in one ages ago as they suspected a urine infection, it has come back with a level of bacteria that isn't anywhere near high enough to diagnose a UTI (and I have no symptoms) but is there, so I have antibiotics to take to make sure so need to pick them up today on the way home from Home Ed group. I'm also buying bandages for DD1 who has been using up all of the toilet roll to turn herself into a mummy very regularly!

kri5ty · 05/07/2011 09:01

haha i am glad to report the sunburn has gone now (won't be making that mistake again!!

Oh my gosh, i could not be pregnant as long as an elephant!! I still find that scan pic story very funny... and i am so tempted haha it still makes me chuckle!

xstitch thats good to hear about the MW, fingers crossed the wait for you is not too long xxx

kri5ty · 05/07/2011 09:03

Does anyone have this-

Maybe TMI, but after i go to the toilet i have a big preassure on what feels like my bladder? It sometimes hurts but only for a few seconds... i don't have a uti as i thought it may have been, and had a sample sent off that came back ok Confused

Awomancalledhorse · 05/07/2011 09:53

msbuggywinkle, 12 weeks?! I'm in London & had been waiting since October, appointment finally came through last month (but I had to cancel thanks to pregnancy related crapness), lucky I wasn't trying to kill myself, eh? Glad you didn't have a UTI.

kri5ty, glad it wasn't a UTI, sorry I'm not having that problem (yet)! Glad the sunburn is gone too!

Anyone else not got a UTI? Happy for you too!

kri5ty · 05/07/2011 10:11

its awful your scan is so late... what if you had wanted the screening for downnes? It will be too late!

I was considering doing an access course so i can go to uni when bump is around 3, to study midwifery... but the way the NHS is going at the moment, i am wondering if there will be any jobs at the end of it!

jomouse · 05/07/2011 11:49

Hello all,

I keep getting blummin UTI's but like kri5ty just bacteria and no symptoms but hate being dosed up with anti b's.

Went for 16 week check up at Dr's today, even though I'm 18 weeks (midwife on hols), wouldn't even listen for heartbeat - I was in and out in just over 3 minutes! Luckily, I'm feeling fine so should be glad theres nothing to worry about.

The hormones were fun this weekend. I was in the pram section of John Lewis with DH and just burst into tears. Totally panicked that I didn't have a clue what to look for or what I wanted and just have no clue about the realities of having a baby. It just really hit home and I felt like I couldn't cope...what an idiot. Once the tears start they just don't stop. On the flip side, i have also been finding a lot of things hilarious/absurd and have been laughing lots too.
...Especially at the elephant scan - really brightened up my day :)

jomouse · 05/07/2011 12:25

One more thing...ladies, I implore you
DO NOT READ "Worst bit about giving birth" thread - I feel an idiot for reading it

OP posts:
msbuggywinkle · 05/07/2011 15:12

Jo You know you'll be fine really. If it is any consolation I feel the same and I really should know what I'm doing by now! That thread terrified me too.

Awomancalledhorse · 05/07/2011 15:58

Jo, I too have started to cry randomly (which is very hilarious for DH as I have aspergers & only ever cry if I see a animal suffering), I broke down in Tesco the other day as they were out of Pom Bear crisps, which I guess is animal related? Grin

Suprised I haven't had a UTI yet, I normally have cystitis 2/3 times a month (dear body, that wasn't a challenge please let me have a while without a uti I'm already on the toilet 2/3 times an hour)!

kri5ty, are there many private midwifery companies in your area? Would it be possible to work for one of them straight out of uni?

LittleMissFlustered · 05/07/2011 19:05

Quickly checking in before I have to go drag the girlchild home.

Scan went fine, fourteen and a half weeks. Baby alive and waving, lots of finger visibility. Won't get anomaly scan until 21-22 weeks, as apparently that makes it easier for them Hmm

Right. Mystery go find shoes. I hate shoes right now. Meh.

LittleMissFlustered · 05/07/2011 19:06

Must go find shoes. Not mystery.

My iPad is in danger of defenestration.

plupervert · 05/07/2011 19:38

"defenestration"! Is it compatible with Windows, do you think?! Wink

Lovely news about the scan, especially the waving. Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 05/07/2011 20:46

It's not compatible with anything, yet I have an irrational love for it:o
