I've only put on 4lbs due to morning sickness but my bump is huge! It is quite neat though and very sticky-outy! I think I look about 20 weeks rather than the 15 that I am. I have been in maternity clothes for over a month now. Have also been feeling tiny movements on and off for a while.

KateM77 · 01/07/2011 11:49

figgygal I'm also 5ft10in and usually a size 10/12. I only have a small bumpette at the moment, and even towards the end of previous pregnancy my bump didn't look that massive due to my height. Last preganancy I put on 3 stone by the end - went from 10st7lb to 13st7lb, which I found quite upsetting, but it all came back off again so don't panic! Have already put on about 10lb this time and I'm 17 weeks

xstitch · 01/07/2011 11:57

I am off to the doctors later. Been feeling progressively worse each day so got appointment for this afternoon.

Awomancalledhorse · 01/07/2011 12:32

Good luck at the Dr's xstitch, just seen your post in chat, hope things get easier somehow. x

Mmmmcheese, I think (first pg!) I've been feeling Squatter move since last week, feels like a really sharp twitch?

jomouse · 01/07/2011 12:38

cheese so (envy) at feeling movements. I concentrate so hard on feeling them that husband has told me I look (more) constipated. To all you tall, slender ladies - can i have some of your height please? I'll swap you some for some boob - I seem to have more than enough to go round...

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, not put on any weight (I don't when I'm pregnant, no idea why, I've lost a stone with both the DDs). Have definite bump to people who know me! Also only 5'2, but with DD2 I only ever looked about 6/7mths, but then she was tiny, 6lb3 at term.

DD2 is tantrum central today and it is by turns making me cry or yell. I'm usually very calm!

figgygal · 01/07/2011 13:39

Just been to DP and H+M spent £65 on maternity clothes 2 pairs of trousers and 2 tops sticking to ebay in future but i hate buying clothes without trying them on first.

sevendwarves · 01/07/2011 14:26

I'm 16+3 and have put on 5lbs so far, although I don't know how as I only had morning sickness once and I've been craving pain au chocolat.

All of those worrying about their weight just remember that the reason mw's don't weigh you after the first appointment is because it doesn't matter how much you put on as long as you're trying to follow a sensible diet. Also remember there's more to weight gain than the size of the baby, there's also the placenta, larger boobs, retained fluid and 50%more blood. I read somewhere that the average weight gain for a person of healthy weight is around 2.5 stone but it all comes off again anyway.

BeeMyBaby · 01/07/2011 14:51

I'm 18+3 and have gained around 2kg, but to be fair I'm only 5ft 2 and started off as a chunky monkey so my body hasn't needed any extra calories etc yet. I'm hoping to do some extra excersize later on in the pregnancy to try and stop the weight gain (I gained a horrendous amount in my previous pregnancy). This time round I actually have a slightly firm bump, rather than last time I had a much bigger jelly bump.

Tallulah1978 · 01/07/2011 17:14

Hi, I am 5 ft 6 and and athletic size 8. First pregnancy I had put on 3 and a half stone by the end. It all came off tho, I think breastfeeding for two years helped. This time I have started at 7st 12 and have already put on a whole stone by 16 weeks. I love having boobs again, although they are just for show because dp goes anywhere near them he gets slapped!

Tallulah1978 · 01/07/2011 17:17

In terms of movements I have definitely felt them earlier this time. I got my strongest the other night, I shone a torch across my belly and got a kick so hard and sudden I nearly leaped off the bed!

plupervert · 01/07/2011 17:20

Just back from dragging DS round Bluewater (shopping centre) without a pram. Shock I ended up piggybacking him as it was the least heavy option when he was moaning that he was tired.

However, I can report:
Gap's maternity things are okay, but you have to keep in mind that the sizing is odd (half American, half UK), and not panic that they don't have anything in your size.

John Lewis seems to only do its maternity stuff online, which is not terribly helpful as far as I'm concerned.

Next things were pretty hideous, all floppy and did not suit my figure (tall, curvy) at all.

Dorothy Perkins was a surprise hit - much more classic designs, and I got a nice normal pair of flared jeans there (the flare distracting from the swelling bump further up the leg). There were some pretty and classic dresses, but - alas! - they required a smaller bust!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 02/07/2011 08:36

Hey Ladies,

Going to see Take That at Wembley later so excited it's unreal poor DP Grin

Awomancalledhorse · 02/07/2011 09:25

plupervert We went around Bluewater last week. Alas with my midgety 5'4 frame I can't fit into the Dorothy Perkins maternity (they didn't have any petite maternity in my size!), didn't know about GAP maternity, so cheers!!

Darciesmum, we're off to see the Foo Fighters, really worried I'll be tired by the time they're on!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 02/07/2011 10:28

AWCH Have fun with the Foo :)

Pet Shop Boys are on first and need to be at wembley by 5pm. All I worry about is wanting to go to loo all the time!

msbuggywinkle · 02/07/2011 14:16

Darciesmum have fun!

We've been having a lovely saturday thus far, just had a yummy lunch of pasta with aubergine and tomato sauce, then eton mess (made by the DDs!). I'll be spending the rest of the afternoon getting ready for my friend's wedding this evening!

MW came to check on me today after Dr yesterday, baby sounds good. My back is really sore today.

sevendwarves · 02/07/2011 20:09

Sorry about your back xstitch, glad baby sounds ok though.

I felt my first kick earlier rather than a flutter, very gentle and just below my belly button. Very exciting!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 03/07/2011 12:16

Take That was fantastic Grin shattered today tho!

Been to Ikea this morning and got a cot quilt & duvet for baby Smile

aethelfleda · 03/07/2011 18:54

I am a Bad Girl.... Not quite 15 weeks and am already browsing the cloth nappy threads in anticipation- cloth nappied my other two and passed them all on as we were originally "stopping at two"....

Awomancalledhorse · 03/07/2011 20:04

Darcie, glad you had fun at TT! We had to leave the Foos early as 'someone' decided they didn't like the sound/vibrations & decided to kick me until I threw up.
aethelfleda, which cloth nappies would you recommend? I'm torn between good ol fashioned Terry Towelings or Bumgenius/similar 0-potty ones with poppers not velcro ties.

aethelfleda · 03/07/2011 21:43

Hi AWCH, there are lots of good one! it depends partly on the shape of your baby which is hard to predict. So don't buy an enormous birth-to-potty set before baby arrives in case you have a chubby fit make. I loved the look of Fuzzi bunz, but when my skinny minnie arrived, there were endless leg leaks because they didn't suit her shape. We switched to motherease one-size nappies with airflow popper wraps, and tots bots, plus nature Babies pocket nappies for the childminder days. Of all of the many many onesnI've tried Motherease seem the most reliable (terry version not the newer bamboo ones). And Motherease airflow wraps fit over almost any cloth nappy and can withstand WW3 catastrophic poo explosions.

. If you've not cloth nappied before the best approach is to buy one each of seceral different sorts and try em on baby (PM me and i can link you to some sites that sell pre-loved nappies much cheaper than new ones, great to try em out) and then you buy more of the ones you like. It's all rather addictive as they look cute and work out sooo much cheaper than disposables in the long run.

Anyway, don't want to hijack the thread- PM me if you want to chat!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 04/07/2011 07:17

Awch ah that's a shame. I only had one really big kick and I think that was baby rejecting Pet Shop Boys - they were not that good!

kri5ty · 04/07/2011 08:30
