Crazy good to see you here. I would tell people to sod off for asking whether the baby is planned or not, its such a rude question!

I'm going to go shopping with a friend on Wednesday, bound to get something then.

My problem is that most maternity wear just isn't my style. I'm a hippy!

aethelfleda · 18/06/2011 19:20

Hiya - can I join in? I'm due Dec 27th with DC3: my DD1 is 5 and DD2 is 3 and a half. I'm on another thread in the Preg section but didn't realise there's a whole a-n club section- how thick am I!

(waves at *seven)

Oh and msbuggywinkle, I'm a hippy type too and recommend floaty Indian skirts hitched up a bit above the bump. Way better than the maternity stuff I saw last time (mind you, in 2007 the "in thing" for maternity gear was those awful Jane Austin tops that looked daft on anyone over a size 8......)

enceinte33encore · 18/06/2011 20:18

mrsbuggywinkle

try seraphine for a dress. They are online as well as shop in Hampstead. Really good quality but not too mega expensive. I'm thinking of getting one for a wedding and selling it on ebay afterwards!

I had my scan last week and my EDD was bought forward to 23/12. All seems to be going well but I'm still up and down with the sickness. Am all ready for the energy/glowing phase!

KateM77 · 18/06/2011 21:42

Mrsbuggywinkle I'm going to a wedding next weekend and another in early Aug when I'll be 22 weeks. I got a maxi dress from phase 8. Not maternity wear, but enough room for a bump of that size. Amazingly it was long enough for me too - I'm 5ft10 so struggle to get things long enough

Thought I felt some flutterings earlier in the week, but it seems quite early (I'm 15 weeks today) as I didn't feel anything with DD until about 18 weeks. Think perhaps it was just wind Blush. Got my 16 week midwife appointment on Monday. Really hoping to hear the heartbeat. If she says it's too early I'll have to bow to the peer pressure and buy a doppler like the rest of you!

xstitch · 19/06/2011 00:00

My doppler came today but after I had left for work. I don't even start til 1pm. I have my booking appointment on Monday. I am terrified they won't be able to hear the heartbeat. Being my 5th pregnancy I feel really anxious a lot and wan't to know everything is OK.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 19/06/2011 16:29

Hey Ladies

I'm taking note about dress places for bump. Got my bro-in-law wedding I'll be 24wks then.

My little sister got married yesterday. Was a great day just a shame about the rain Sad so tired haven't been getting to bed till midnight in prep don't think I'll last much longer DD has already taken herself upto bed to sleep

msbuggywinkle · 19/06/2011 19:21

I bought this today. Just need to acessorise it now. The friend who is getting married runs a vintage shop so I'm going to ask her to keep a look out for a good necklace.

BluebellsintheSpring · 19/06/2011 20:45

Oh....very pretty dress!

xstitch · 19/06/2011 23:30

Very nice. I need to find a dress for my hen night.

MariamM · 20/06/2011 09:37

Officially in second trimester (14+2) and have another scan on Friday. I have been losing excessive water/discharge/urine, just rang the EPU and they have offered me a scan on Friday just to double check everything's okay.

KateM77 · 20/06/2011 11:31

Had 16 week appointment with midwife today. Pleased to report that we are at a low risk of downs and that all my bloods came back fine. I asked to listen to the heartbeat. She said they don't normally do it until 25 weeks onwards, but gave it a go as it was my second baby and I understood not to panic if we didn't hear anything. As it turned out we couldn't hear the heartbeat, she said it was like baby is in a deep swimming pool at the moment and it was swimming right at the bottom. She did hear and feel lots of movements though, so all good there. A very long wait until I next see her at 28 weeks in mid-Sept, so now it's just the countdown to the 20 week scan.

Nice dress msbuggywinkle I didn't even know ASOS did maternity clothes

BeeMyBaby · 20/06/2011 14:21

Kate thats a long time untill your next midwife appointment? They must think you are super low risk in every way :)

msbuggywinkle · 20/06/2011 14:57

BeeMybaby 16 weeks then 28 seems to be standard if it isn't your 1st baby.

Feeling quite a lot of movement now (15 weeks) and am going to have to switch to the 'later pg workout' on my pilates as this morning it felt like I had a football up my top!

xstitch · 20/06/2011 15:52

I had my booking appointment today. They have agreed to a section this time.. They managed to hear a heartbeat but was hard work finding it.

I've to see MW again in 6 weeks because of my complicated history. Already got appointment for October to decide birth date.

aethelfleda · 20/06/2011 18:04

Yep, our MW plan says 16 then 28 weeks too, though it does sneak it in by mentioning the 22 week scan in the middle to make it look like more appts!!

It's because that time period is when very little happens risk wise, unless you have a known issue/other medical problems. Baby's just getting bigger.... I suppose they also rely on mum having enough drive to ask to see the dr/midwife if they have any worries.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 20/06/2011 20:01

hi everyone - been mentally busy at work but trying to keep up to date with everything. Been feeling some flutters, bubbles and the very occasional tiny kick but still only 17 weeks so not expecting anything major for a while yet - still very much in the "not feeling pregnant" early 2nd trimester phase, apart from the groin pain which thankfully so far doesn't seem to be getting worse.

While we're on clothes, any tips for a blacktie dress?? My brother passes out from Sandhurst in August, I have a dress for the parade but need something black tie for the ball. Am 5'9", size 12ish and will be 25 weeks...

I get an appointment straight after my 20week scan with my MW, but might be diff because she's a community midwife and finds any excuse to come round for a cuppa and a bit of cake!!

LittleMissFlustered · 20/06/2011 21:23

Hi all. Just checking in. Not much happening. Got some appointments this week though. Scan and a check in with the loopy doc. Got to be loving being a mentalist. Going to go track down my doppler tomorrow.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

NoobytheWaspSlayer · 21/06/2011 05:13

Hi All,

Up at 3am with horrible pregnancy nightmares and snoring husband. Aliens were trying to steal my children, which sounds utterly ridiculous, but was really scary. My poor little boys were shaking and terrified and I couldn't help them . Then walrus nose scuppered any chance of getting back to sleep.

I've been feeling lots of movement (I'm 15 weeks), but as this is my third pregnancy I guess its just because I'm as baggy as an old windsock, and the baby is swishing around in there! I've started exercising and eating healthily again, as I've got the second trimester energy boost and I'm not feeling sick anymore, and to be honest I gained 10lb in the first trimester (!!) - and all on my giant parsnip thighs! I know it will balance out though as now I'm craving really healthy food, and I'm really enjoying pilates/erin obrian again, and I know I'll reap the benefits during labour/post-partum.

Wish I could find some nice flattering maternity trousers that fit round the thighs, but didn't keep falling down elsewhere!

Hope all are feeling well, and getting more sleep than me!

BeeMyBaby · 21/06/2011 07:03

Hmm, I had my 16 week appointment but am also getting a 23 week appointment and I presume a 28 week appointment (as rhesus negative), I didn't think I was a complicated case and this is my second - I thought I would have less appointments this time.

kri5ty · 21/06/2011 08:54

How is everyone doing this week??

I am 15 weeks today, and i am sure i felt movement the other day but i think it may be too early? It felt like the rumbling of gas to be honest, but higher up, ad no end result? haha the best way i can describe it, is having the feeling of lots of tiny bubbles towards the top of my tummy... kind of like in the fluid

maybe its just me being crazy!!

I still haven't bought the doppler yet as i am moving on friday, and don't want it being delivered to the wrong house!!

I am having strange dreams too.... but about deaths and murders Confused i have no idea why!!

had my first consultant appointment yesterday which was a complete waste of time, he read through my medical history, and arugued and questioned everything, asking why my doctor hadn't mentioned anything in my referral?! I don't know ask her!!!

I am in the process of changing hospitals though, so hopefully the new consultant will be better!!

kri5ty · 21/06/2011 09:00

ooo and enceinte33encore i have just been on seraphine's website before i read your post, house freaky!! I found them on google, and their stuff looks nice! I was after a work skirt, as the maternity uniform we are provided with is awful!

msbuggywinkle · 21/06/2011 09:02

Scan day today for me! At 15+4! Dreamed last night that I forgot to take my notes, so I've put them in my bag now despite my scan not being til 4pm.

After scan, I have to whizz home, feed everyone and then it is home birth group. I'll be meeting the student doula I might be booking, as my doula from last time is due to have another baby in about 8 weeks so doesn't know if she'll be working again by December!

kri5ty · 21/06/2011 09:03

Also another question, i know this was covered earlier, but i cant find the posts... can anyone recommend a pilates dvd for pregnancy... i have never done it before but i want to start! And i need exercises for my arms too... not sure which weights im allowed to do etc hmm

msbuggywinkle · 21/06/2011 09:23

kir5ty here's the pilates I've got. I've had it for all 3, first time round it totally cured my back pain! Then didn't have any pain with DD2!
