Thanks for all the concern, hugs, advice and bracing blows with the big wet fish...! Wink Have decided it is in fact ligaments and stuff as have been ouchy when coughing etc. And some vestiges of calmness have been restored. The thing I keep getting stuck on is when you all say to go to the EPU. I've looked for my nearest EPU on the NHS website and from what I can tell, there isn't one in West London. Am I being a proper thicko? (entirely possible BlushBlush)

GG- next week huh? Grin
Gin - 15th noted...
Wol - I think the delay in my booking in etc is due to too many women for the service they provide. I expect that may be in the same position come January.

LadyGoneGaga · 09/07/2011 17:30

We still only have one mirror hung in the house since tight arse vendors took ALL of the fittings including toilet roll holders, towel rails and disconnected and took all if the wall lights in the lounge. The lack of mirrors is prob a good thing.

So MeG and I spent the day in IKEA (meatballs and chips fine for blood sugar by the way) and it was only half way round that I caught sight of a mirror and realised that my top stops a good 6 inches above the level of denim. Luckily was wearing over the bump jeans but really not a good look.

Oh, and can only get one remaining pair of flip flops on the haggis feet. These have straw bottoms and are literally about to fall apart. Suggestions please?

Got my Differs yoga labour class tomorrow. Very timely.

So are we all going to do a synchronized lay on 15th then?

Bitry not such good news on hossie capacity. Just get into a random bed and refuse to be moved.

Mecca am in awe of you surviving Italian summer temperatures diffed. Hopefully not too much longer.

Hope you're ok today, Brownie?

Is your kitchen all done now, Owlie? Hope so.

My cats are same. Cover everything in shite, fur and vomit. They are worse at the moment as not allowed to go out. Fucking things.

Fanny thanks for the good wishes. We do need to get together soon. When do you start exciting new job? Congrats on that by the way

Brown I had this site bookmarked in case I needed the info, not sure which is closest but hth www.earlypregnancy.org.uk/FindUs2.asp?region=South East

Medee · 09/07/2011 17:37

East

Medee · 09/07/2011 17:38

gah! MN link fail - you should be able to search yourself!

owlbooty · 09/07/2011 21:21

I've got to lay on the 29th, not the 15th. Picking birth pool up on the 27th then need two days to eat own bodyweight in pineapple. Midwife is on hols from 1st August. So I've instructed Owlet not to fuck about; he can arrive around 6pm on the Friday before shift change an hour and half later, and he'd better be prompt.

GG You are welcome to my size 8 flipflops if that helps :( Your poor feet. I can't believe the bastards took the bloody wall lights; really, that is taking the piss somewhat.

Brownie This might be me being thick but I thought all maternity units had an EPU? Some are bound to be more accessible than others though; the one at my local hossie is basically not accessible unless you wait a week and have permission from your GP/MW/Consultant. Am glad you are feeling a bit more okay about the stretchy pains; they are extremely disconcerting and I remember them very well as I freaked out too.

MrBitey · 09/07/2011 22:38

brownie glad you are feeling more zen today, you could try ringing NHS direct for EPU info.

hooters I like your timetabling style, you are clearly a haglet after my own heart. I spent a bit of time bouncing on the ball with a cup of raspberry leaf tea last night. I now have the fear as the FDH has been struck down with cyclic vomitting again Sad. He may ill for a few days so I am now praying that bitey bach stays put a little bit longer!

gaga I'm surprised you weren't papped in IKEA sporting that glamorous look! I prefer to make sure the front is covered but leave the over the bump back on full display as if I am wearing the worlds biggest knickers. Have you tried cold after sun on them?

Laying on the 15th sounds fab but I am seeing Harry Potter that night. It is an early showing though so I can probably fit both in.

BrownB · 10/07/2011 00:22

Who knew! My hospital has an EPU.

I go see the midwives on Monday. Hopefully they will tell me all I need to know. What are good questions for the booking in appointment? Obviously, what scans/tests are done, what antenatal classes are available, and what sort of options they cover re birthing centre, home birth etc. Anything else?

BrownB · 10/07/2011 00:24

ps - Bitey am very [henvy] of your trip to see HP on the 15th. Am sure that Biteybach will understand and hang on in there. [hgrin]

AlpinePony · 10/07/2011 08:02

LadyG What is this "pregnant face" of which you speak? Is it "sheen o' green" or something? Wink Your vendors were cunts, what sort of an asshat does such things? :( They pull that shiz in Belgium too and to add insult to injury they just cut the wires for the fittings for your lightbulb. That's right, not even just a case of screwing in a lightbulb, you'll actually need to fit the fucking "fitting thing". Arseholes.

Brownie Very glad to hear you feel a bit more at ease and it's good to know you've got a local EPU. I gather (CRESH experience) that it's better to just turn up rather than phone & be fobbed off with an appointment "next week". Questions for the mw:
i) Will it make my fanjo ugly?
ii) Where do I sign for my free pram?
iii) Do my tits look good to you?
iv) MOG Twinz!2!!111!

bitey Blimey, what a pants choice. Can't you plant some lavender in your garden and go for full-on earth mother hippy lentil woman?

owl I fear you've got a tad to far with your birth plan! Wink

macaroon You are of course right. I've been having horrible thoughts now it's QUADS! I mean MOG twinz is one thing right but any more than that and aaaaaaaaaargh! Grin

I am slightly lol'ing at all you heavily pregnant in the height of summer PESHes - just imagine (!), I will be swanning around in January like Tilda Swinton, all white fur, a touch of rose on my cheeks, snow flakes gently falling around my face, spike-heels for grip on ice. Aaaaaah. (In reality beached on sofa.) Wink Obviously this pregnancy was not planned (wrt timing, you gets what you get when you're BESH), but I am very thankful I do not have to repeat last summer's maxi-dress/flip-flops/sweating.

macaroon That's just reminded me, as you're probably cat-flapping and with your heat (also applicable to any other last minute cat-flapper) - those little blue plastic freezer bag things you put in the freezer, have them to hand. Wrap in a small towel and shove down your pants on to your scar. Pure bliss!

MrBitey · 10/07/2011 12:15

brownie the booking in appointment involves a very very long form, just to warn you! The question I wish that I had asked was for a number to ring if I was worried. I had to try and get it out of the surgery receptionist who would have held up under questioning under torture. Where did you get those wizard hats???? Oooh, there they are [hgrin]

ski the early differ face that gave me away was a noticable rounding, teenage-esque acne and an overall sheen. You can understand that this was not welcome news to me, not the most flattering thing! Now it is just round, and may eclipse the full moon on the 15th!

This cat flapping has had me confused while squinting at the ipod. I thought it was a technique for chasing disgruntled cats away from baybee things! I forgot about the horrors of moving house with cats gaga, butter on paws is a myth and very very messy btw.

I had a fun night last night, the out of hours doctor agreed to prescribe valium over the phone for the FDH but I had to go and collect it from them. They are based in the A&E deptartment covering most of South West Wales and I had to go there at half past midnight on a Saturday night. Have never seen so much blood in my whole life, was terrifying. Lots of drunks fighting outside, glassing victims inside and the odd civilian trembilng under a blanket cursing their lousy timing to have chest pains. Felt extremely conspicous and vulnerable on the ten minute trek from the car park as am the size of a ship in full sail! Ah well, at least it put a stop to the quarter hourly buckets of sick emptying which was really wearing thin!

Medee · 10/07/2011 12:28

booking in varies from place to place but it is all very procedural.

AlpinePony · 10/07/2011 13:38

Piece of piss second time around this booking in lark: 'yes hello, 'tis ski, I'm having a baybee'. Job done Bish bosh. ;)

MrBitey · 11/07/2011 11:44

Goodness me it's quiet in here! is everyone else off laying a baybee or something? HOw did booking in go TurquioseT?

It's my last Monday in work today! Have tried but failed to feel a pang!

Ginfox · 11/07/2011 12:18

I'm here Bitey. Congrats on your last Monday! Shame you had to go back to work at all, even if it was only brief. And you were v crazy brave going to A&E on a saturday night. Just make sure you steer well clear on Friday (full moon).

GG flip-flops can be had from Asda for £2. I usually hate the things - the flapping noise bugs me for some reason - but they are the only things I can get on my elephant feet.

Brownie hope booking-in goes ok and calms the menkulling a bit.

Yestereve the Foxcub had definitely settled in my pelvis, and felt heavy and pressurised enough to start something. Today has moved back up again. This kid takes after its mother .

owlbooty · 11/07/2011 12:26

Bites It's my first monday of maternity leave Try not to grin foolishly when people ask you if you'll miss the place. Grin

However talking of pangs, I just had an epic Branston that left me leaning over my birthball going oooooooooo. Kind of glad that didn't happen in the office, that would have really shat them up.

Brownie my booking in was all paperwork and nowt else. Oh and they took blood and failed to tell me they were testing for Hep B/C, HIV and other things and I am still grumpy about that. Hope the appt goes well - I found that the 16 week one was far more useful than the 12 week one so don't be disappointed if it's all paperwork and faffing, they do get better.

Ski Cease your lol'ing immediately madam! Or we shall all lol at you when your ambulance gets stuck in the snow and you end up delivering on your front drive Shock Good use of the word 'Asshat' btw.

Right; I have 6,000 things on my 'to do' list. Number one being 'entertain B&Q staff with epic Branston in middle of decorating aisle'. I must away.

owlbooty · 11/07/2011 12:28

Xpost. Ginners surely Foxcub is waiting til tomorrow as that is proper due date, non? How very civilised.

macaroonmum · 11/07/2011 15:24

Watch those branstons Featheryone - surely they shouldn't be 'ooo'-type ones?! Was it painful? fullmoonfriday, fullmoonfriday

Gin maybe ginbabe was just getting a feel for it. Or is playing the Hokey Cokey with your pelvis.

Alps Just you wait. I shall be the first to taunt you when you get snowed in. It's fecking hot here. Am in a sarong (which doesn't close properly) and flip flops. Elegance personified.

browngirlinthering hope the app went well today and you are feeling a bit more chilled out

I also have lots of things to do. The most important of which is writing a series of lists for TIS telling him to do lots of things. Second is finding a hospital in which to have the CS. Hmm Maybe that should be no1. Pedicure is number 3. Priorities, priorities.

Medee · 11/07/2011 16:26

hurrah for lists and maternity leaves!

MrBitey · 11/07/2011 19:36

Where is the fox cub now gin? Can't believe the due date is tomorrow!

Those Branstons sound rather ouchy featheredbehind but good for keeping the B&Q staff on their toes. I wonder if they will give you a free gas BBQ if your waters break in store?

Pedicure is very important WhatexactlyisaMacaroonanyway you need to make a good first impression! Am [henvy] of sarong. I am wearing a too small maternity nightie with egg on it.

I just can't decide who to point the field glasses at next! I think foxy for now but reserve the right to chnage my mind once we hear how the consultant went for ourLadyofGaGa

Updated not list below, maybe a bit early what with all the cervical gazing going on. Ski Brownie and Barb* I haven't added you because i don't know when your due dates are and didn't want to scare the beejeebus out of you by putting them too early (or late). Sorry if I have made any mistakes!

Work was long and headache inducing afterwards, and am a little Hmm about my constant and unrelenting hunger, but today all else is well. Hope no one has melted today. Wink
