I spent hours writing and rewriting an incredibly detailed birth plan but the MWs clearly read it wrong and gave me everything I said I didn't want to happen... Confused I should've added 'please do not give me £500' and seen what occurred Grin And despite everything going tits up, I still enjoyed it (well, as much as you can enjoy crippling pain and indignity!). I do think that putting so much effort into the plan still helped me feel in control as I'd really thought the birth through from every angle and having researched what I didn't want and why, at least I actually knew what to expect from those things when they did actually have to happen. Does that make sense?

Never get any time to do owt but post the odd daft comment on FB but hugest snogs to you all. TYF has got me an iPad2 to say ta muchly for laying our baybee so when it arrives, I will be able to go on the internet over Mr T's head (in the day, he will only sleep stretched backwards across my tum like a cat in a sun spot!). Currently am on clunky old-skool laptop. Laterzzz...

Ivegotmrbitey · 05/07/2011 22:41

That's lovely rocket hope you get some news soon!

The push chair has arrived and provoked much squeeing. It's fab and extremely easy to put up& down and swop seats around. Very fast service from kiddicare too. I am one satisfied customer Smile

biteybach has been entertaining his GPs by leaping around all afternoon, leading to more of the squeeing. It's been quite the day for it!

AlpinePony · 06/07/2011 08:33

Friends. I think I've got PTSD. :(

Last night I lovingly cooked Bear salmon. This morning I've had to heave and cry my way through cleaning up a "fishy" poo. [TearsStreamingDownFace]

There's a lesson for all of you here who think it'd be "lovely" to home cook meals for your offspring. Don't do it during the morning sickness phase of a future pregnancy. Envy

BarbiesBeaver · 06/07/2011 08:45

Pone can you look at it as a knowledge gathering mission? Of course you don't know what you will do when you get the results of those tests, but you're just arming yourself with as much information as you can. Fish poo sounds fucking horrific. I don't know how you cope having hyperemesis with a child already.I've been trying to figure out the logistics of that if I ever manage to get pregnant after this one.

What pushchair did you get Biter?

owlbooty · 06/07/2011 10:33

Pone I've always felt the more info I am armed with, the better- what one does with it then you can decide at the time. Stop googling rare syndromes though, no good will come of it Poo sounds hideous.

The MW came round and did home birth booking last night and slightly freaked Mr Boots out by giving him a large list of things he would need to do. I think this is a good thing though as it will keep him busy on the day.

Tis a good thing I'd been up at the hossie the day before as it was apparently still very hard to tell which way up the little dude was. Mind you, she can't feel him levering my ribcage apart with his feet. Yow. I still can't believe I'm having a baybee in about 5 weeks. She did approve of my birth plan though, so that was good

Gorgeous boy. Grin

Meds perhaps you should employ the accidental poppage technique by strewing drawing pins on the floor near the Xbox?

Ivegotmrbitey · 06/07/2011 11:35

This One Barb Smile

Fishy poo sounds horrendous ski! I used to look after an 8 year boy who needed me to change his incontinence pads. I seriously thought about begging his mothers not to give him felafels after possibly the worst poo ever. Thanks be to jeebus that I didn't or she may have have gone for a fishy dish to teach me a lesson! Also just googled Edwards, am a f'idiot Sad

Hello scorps lovely to see you around these parts. The lad is getting more and more beautiful and he started at a high standard!

rocketleaf · 06/07/2011 13:42

at fishy poo, cheesy ones are bad enough. pone re the triple, i wrestled with this as I didnt think i would terminate, but did it in the end. I figured forewarned was fore armed but then results were ok. Not sure how I would have felt if they hadn't been (probably ignored them) it is after all only a change in whatever as you say.

Sprouts new best mate was born just before 7 am this morning. I am so excited I could pee (knew I should have kept up those kegels) and am having to restrain myself from rushing over there right now. Ahem, pollen count seems to be vey high this morning.

yey for you Hb booking bootie i hope it pans out.

macaroonmum · 06/07/2011 15:12

'lo all.

Rocket lovely news of new arrival.

Boots Great news on HB plans.

Bitey that pram reminds me of Kit car from Knightrider Grin. Style.

Alps for me it was just about knowing. And, yes, it's fucking stressful and horrible when you are waiting to get the results. I went with the attitude that a certain number would mean I'd be fine with it and under that would mean I'd get further tests.
Fishy poo is horrible at the best of times, never mind with added joy of gagging.

Well, just back from gyno appointment. Theboy is still firmly head up. She gave me a booking in slip to take to the hospital to book the c-section. Which, she told me, they won't do until I'm 40 weeks, even though I shot out thechild at 37 weeks and she can stick the tip of her finger in my cervix. I suppose this way I'm prepared but it's most likely going to mean emcs sometime over the next 4 weeks. Bah. I also live near a small hospital which was fine for the natural birth plan, not so sure about it for full-on surgery though. Wah!
On a squee-ful note however, I sorted all my little baby stuff yesterday for the hospital and had a bit of a moment with the teeny-tiny first outfit.

As for prams, I'm using my old one because it's the only one which will fit in our car/in lifts/on footpaths here. The Zippy. S'fab.

owlbooty · 06/07/2011 15:34

This hat is tremendous.

Maccers buggeration and damn and buggeration again; can't believe they will wait until 40 weeks! So they're not even going to try ECV or did you decide against that? It seems to be routine practice round here. I guess you're just going to have to ring them at the very first twinge :( Am so sorry that it's not gone to plan. Hoorah for the teeny outfits, though, they are so luffly.

Rocket I hope Sprout's new best mate is a girl; as I have already baggsied Sprout for arranged marriage to Owlet due to her utter gorgeousness. Why do the ESHes produce such squeee-inducingly lovely baybees? I also hope the home birth pans out but am fully prepared for it to go tits up in the traditional style Grin

Bites that is a splendid buggy. I am pretty sure I wheeled that one around in a shop; it was v.nice. Now stop being a prat and googling things that make you pull faces or I shall forcefeed you this kipper which will make Pone sick again, now you don't want that, do you?

Ginfox · 06/07/2011 19:19

Evening hags. Nothing to report here, except that feet are almost normal size today due to cooler weather - thank god for that.

Received pressie from Mum and Sister today - a Ncessity Travel Cot/Tent thingy. Tis brilliant, and was in the sale, so I don't have to feel too guilty about them spending loadsa dosh.

Macca - plenty of time to spin that baby, fingers crossed my lovely.

Owl that hat is extremely luffly, but I do have issues with the word Poppet

Bitey our mothercare special looks like a bigger, more industrial, less streamlined version of your shiny new pushchair. We got a robust one for taking off-road and stuff, but we'll need a team of huskies to move the sodding thing.

Hope you're feeling ok today Snowhorse. Presume Bear is now on a less fragrant diet?

LadyGoneGaga · 06/07/2011 19:57

Lucky you, Gin. Mine are like haggises. However, the vast majority of unpacking is done (bar the study which I am leaving for MeG after a collapsing shelves incident. And the garage is frankly very scary but I am pretending we don't have a garage.

I am on phone, no broadband for 10th more days so excuse me if I miss loads of stuff out.
Mecca the breech thing sounds a bit mad. Have you tried moxibustion.

Nice pram Bite, need to get mine out now.

Ew, Pony, I can't stand the smell of fish first time round. Never mind when its been through the digestive system of a toddler. Sounds vile.

Lovely Sprout Spouse news, Rocket

laurielou · 07/07/2011 08:07

Morning!

Just been catching up with everyone's news while BugBoy finally sleeps after his all night party shenanigans.

LadyG I cannot believe how much you are dealing with right now! Makes my head spin to think about it all. I hope that the eating ishoos are getting sorted now. Not wishing to wind you up again, but your appointment of last week sounded a nightmare! I hope that the house move went well, & that you're all settling in. We also have a M&P Sola pram for BugBoy - apart from a squeaky wheel so far so good. (Dad WD40'd the wheel & all good).

Lovely scan news BB & Truff. I just melt at the thought of seeing baybees wriggling happily around.

Ski fishy poo has nearly made my weetabix reappear. For the love of God, no more fish pliz. A friend of ours is diffed & suffering with teh sickness. Her cat was sick, & as she was bending over to clean it up she barfed too. Just as her husband returned home from work. I thought that sounded bad but fishy poo has gone straight to the top of the list.

My birth plan was rubbish & didn't get to see the light anyway. It was way too polite & full of "I reserve the right to change my mind". Going from MW led to c-section booked in the space of a few hours, I removed my birth plan & purpose bought for sneezy water birth tankini from my hossie bag, & replaced it with hooge over c-section scar pants (which I had to borrow from mum!).

Ski the list of ESH's who did not have the birth they wanted / planned has made me smile. In our normal pre-diffed lives we sound a pretty organised bunch, who are not afraid of going out & getting what we want. It makes me smile that we cannot have complete control over birth. And you are so right, that although the birth I had was the absolute opposite of what I wanted / planned, I do not care, as the most important thing about it is BugBoy snoring happily next to me. Oh, & just because it wasn't what I planned, I still class it as a good experience.

Rocket how lovely that Sprout's playmate has arrived! BugBoy's potential playmate is due to be induced on Tues - although may appear after mother has another sweep today. Eeek, rather her than me.

We've had another crazy few days with Mr Loz's dad & brother visiting from o/seas (though thankfully not staying with us). Mr Loz in on annual leave next week, & as lovely as its been to see everyone we're hoping for a fairly quiet week, just the 3 of us Grin. Still sounds funny saying that.

So, who's going first in the cluster lay?

AlpinePony · 07/07/2011 09:06

macarooooooooonie Blimey guv'nor - do they actually do sectiones at your local hospital or will you be blue-lighted elsewhere? Confused My friend here had an elcs for breech but they let her go in to labour naturally with a view to an "appointment" at 42 weeks if a no-show. Naturally her waters went in the supermarket. You actually sound very chilled about the whole prospect of a section, but please, if you've got any worries there are a whole bunch of us cat-flappers around.

bitey That's a mean looking machine and will fulfill all your needs! :)

Not sure what we're going to do this end. I ditched the giant machine as soon as I could and now have a lightweight buggy, but we still have the pram for the newborn which I am happy to re-use. Mummy would rather spend 800 euros on herself than this season's pram. Blush But , I don't know whether I should get a standing board for Bear or try and get some form of double-buggy with reclining seats - I've seen some "twin" ones on "ebay" for 125 euros which I think is fair. I do not want a giant Phil & Ted style double carrier as we just won't use it and I've read too many reviews of toddlers wanting to be in whichever position the baybee is in. The alternative of course will be to keep Bear in the buggy and put the baybee in the sling. I'm sure we'll muddle along somehow!

Congratulations rocket on becoming a narnty!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on the testing. I'm just going to put my head in the sand I think.

Ivegotmrbitey · 07/07/2011 10:46

maccers you really do sound very calm, I suppose that you at least have time to plan for an EMCS (that sounds odd) but can't help wondering why it can't be booked sooner. Is there any possibility of himself doing a quick spin round?

Glad the HB booking appoitnment went well boots. I agree that a comprehensive to-do list is a good idea for birth partners. I would want one if that was my job on the day. No more googling of anything that is going to cause a wobble, promise!

That travel cot tent wotsit is fab foxy, love the UV proofness of it.

Happy new home gaga ignore anything you can't see when lying down on the sofa. Hope your haggis feet have deflated a little?

Hello loz! Love the thought of the bug boy snoring gently away. Have some lovely tiny family time next week. Smile This bloody pollen! I don't usually get hay fever either. Must be a diffed thing.

ski what about a toddler size back pack baybee carrier?

Glad the pram has met with approval. Poor old FDH chose the colour scheme and insisted on the mattest of blacks (I wanted a red one) so that he wouldn't feel too self concious pushing it. I have festooned it with colourful toys and bitey bach himself is going to look like he is auditioning for south pacific Grin I have the same thing planned for the FamilyCar (tm) which we are picking up tomorrow.

The iso fix bit for the car seat has just arrived. This was the last thing on the baby list so feeling very very excited now! Bitey bach seems to be using my ribs as a spring board to get maximum velocity for head butting what I believe may be my cervix. Having not been been prodded from that direction before I can't be 100%! I don't think I am lining up for a spectacular queue jump though, those feet are still very very high up where my lungs would like to be!

rocketleaf · 07/07/2011 13:27

bitey i feel your pain, sprout had a tendency to tap dance on my lower rib all the time. At least when it stops you will know that he is getting into pole position though.

lozzer sorry to hear Bug is keeping you up at night, might settle down pretty soon though? At around 5 weeks things started to settle down with Sprout and she slept for a 7 hour stretch last night!!!! It was bliss but then she has always been a good sleeper (which was a bit of a nightmare to begin with)

owlshoes Yes Sprouts new BFF is a girl so no worries there but I had sort of earmarked Mr T for Sprout however I think competition will be fierce. Also if Sprout takes after her mother she will a/ have a mind of her own and b/ like a younger man so you might yet get her as a DDIL. It's very flattering of you to say she is gorgeous, obviously I am too polite to disagree with you ;-)

maccerooon that sucks about the ELCS delay :( and doesnt make much sense but just cos miniroon was early doesn't mean microroon will be so hopefully you will not end up with an emergency one. Fingers (and legs) crossed anyway.

I have just discovered that the MOT ran out at the beginning of June, I was rather busy then so I suppose can be forgiven for not realising (plus new car) but I suppose I had better not drive it today. Booked in to get it done tomorrow but thats my planned trip to town this avo out the window, unless i brave the rain and public transport, Humphh.

Ginfox · 07/07/2011 13:41

Bitey I have been feeling twingyness in what I assume is my cervix. Feels like someone prodding it to see what it is (it's the exit, kindly use it kid!)

Lozza what a luffly picture of domestic bliss.

Just back from a shopping spree in town, which I curtailed because school holidays started this week, and the parents of Scotland seem to think that their children would just love to spend the day being dragged around Primarni. Usually weekday shopping is just differs, pensioners, and a few mums and toddlers, and therefore a doddle. Why can't they go to the beach/park/anywhere I'm not?

But bizarrely, ELC was completely deserted. Don't kids like toys anymore?

owlbooty · 07/07/2011 13:51

Damnit! I wonder if the equally gorgeous but slightly older Babybird is spoken for? Pollster ?

Bites Owlet is also doing the springboard thing. It's making me feel like sicking which is bad news as it is my last day of work and I have eaten my own bodyweight in cake.

Ginfox · 07/07/2011 13:57

Yay for last day Owl! (But careful not to cake-barf - t'would be disrespectful, and wasteful.)

owlbooty · 07/07/2011 16:15

I carried it all in, and everything. Shock How desperately reckless.

GG your poor feet :(

Ginners you are very brave going to Primarni during school holidays. I get The Fear whenever I venture through the door of my local one and end up dropping whatever I've picked up and legging it.

macaroonmum · 07/07/2011 17:16

Gin "prodding your cervix" ?! in-ter-esting wouldn't it be great if babies just rang a cervix-bell to get out? Mine would be to the tune of "I'm coming out" by Diana Ross I think. Or maybe the Littlest Hobo theme.

GG I often sit with my feet in a basin of freezing cold water to get relief. Bliss.

Loz! Lovely to 'see' you and hear about Bug. It's feckin tough at the start. I remember the fog lifted around month 3 for me. Hang in there.

Alps thanks! I will probably come over to the CRESH to ask for tips/need to know stuff.

The CS itself isn't bothering me there just isn't any other option as he's stuck transverse, so there's no point fretting. I think it helps when the decision is made for you. I've tried EVERYthing possible except the manual manouvre which I've been advised against. I've been investigating hospitals nearby because my local one (5 mins walk) doesn't inspire me for a cs, although was fine when I assumed it was a natural birth. I want to know what the policy is for booking in but I think it's usually between 38 and 40 weeks. At least this way I can prepare for it. Che sera, sera and all that.

As for birth plans, they don't do them over here and would probably be highly amused at a labouring woman presenting them with one. Mine said (in my head) "go with the flow but don't get pushed around" and I think it worked very, very well.

MrBitey · 07/07/2011 20:25

It's me but with a shortened name.

You are quite right maccers hope you find a nice hospital for the big event Smile

What cake was it bootylove?

Medee · 07/07/2011 20:42

ooh, who is this mysterious new poster?

owlbooty · 07/07/2011 21:44
Medee · 07/07/2011 21:46

I most certainy do!

MrBitey · 07/07/2011 21:47

I have leaky buzzwams brought about by seat belt being too tight. I don't quite know how I feel about this.

Does this info spoil the film noir mysterious vixen effect?
