puzzletree · 10/06/2011 16:44

Ooh more people, congratulations!!!
My birthday's in february, wonder which of these babies will share it? Suspect not mine as both my boys came before their due date, so this may not even be a february baby at all.

aj71 I've got a midwife appointment booked for tuesday, you don't need to see the gp here. I think she will book me in an send a scan request. Hoping they are more organised than last time when I didn't get a scan until 15 weeks! It was a long wait.

Just had my afternoon doze on the sofa but better get off my bum and make dinner now :) Hope the rest of you are getting on ok today

I was supposed to make my MW apt on tuesday, but forgot to call, so i'll make it next week. I'm high risk too (kidney disease) so i'll be mostly at the hospital anyway seeing random MWs like last time. (i had 6 scans last pg and was utterly fed up by the end of it - it sounds great but i just wanted to be normal). I also had a PPH last time, and apparently that means I'll also have to have a high risk birth so no MW led birthing unit for me this time :( very sad about that.

Someone was talking about birthdays. We conceived both DD and this one through IVF and they were conceived 2 years apart almost to the day, so this one has an almost identical due date to DD. I can't decide if it would be nice for them or not to have the same birthday. Of course, if it's twins they'll be early. argh.

Took DD to swimming lesson today for first time since conception and worried the whole time the water/chemicals were going to somehow get all the way into my uterus to wash the baby away. Someone please tell me how ridiculous this is!?

I have no symptoms yet, apart from not wanting cereal, like last time. It's so frustrating, i wish i could feel more pg and stop worrying.

Woowa Yes, you're being ridiculous about the pool stuff. That said, I'm being ridiculous about not feeling very pregnant yet so I think it's fair to say, pregnancy makes us all ridiculous!

puzzletree I'm high risk because I have Factor V Leiden (a blood clotting disorder) + hypothyroid. Really had problems when having my dd with my thyroid. I would have had Factor V when having my dd but I didn't know about it. Now they know, it's an issue hence the high risk this time around.

louby86 · 10/06/2011 21:44

woowa thanks for adding my stats! It's our first baby so I'm a bit nervous! Not got lots of symptoms but it's still really early, just got really really sore breasts! Hope you are all ok!

Just adding my age! Bloody well feeling it too, dd1 has basically tantrummed and whinged from the minute she came home from nursery to the minute she went to bed. I soooo need some wine! Sob!

Woowa its not the most common pregnancy fear I've ever heard...Grin

Hello to the new joiners!

aj71 · 11/06/2011 07:15

EsmeWeatherWax I'm so glad I'm not the the only 39 year old! I was 28 when I had my daughter. I'll be 40 when I have this one!

I also miss wine!

Twittwooo · 11/06/2011 08:01

I feel quite old having my first at 33! DH and I have been together for almost 13 years and although I kind of wish we had thought about starting a family earlier I do think this is the right time for us. We only got married last year and for a long time we didn't really feel 'grown-up' enough for marriage and children. I think we were too busy having fun and pretending we would never grow old, ha! We've definitely settled down a lot over the last few years though and are looking forward to having our own little family.

On another note, is anyone else having weird dreams? The other night I dreamt I was petting a wild fox on my lap!! I do love foxes, but I don't think I would like to get that close in reality! I've also had odd dreams about being on the toilet, but I won't go into too much detail with that one ...

rnbsmum · 11/06/2011 08:52

esmeweatherwax and aj71 : 39 is obviously the age to be!! Our baby is due the month before my 40th birthday, a lovely and unexpected way to celebrate!!

phlossie · 11/06/2011 09:11

woowa I'm a baby swimming teacher so spend ten hours a week in a pool! I can reassure you that there's virtually no risk to your pregnancy - Chlorine kills 99 per cent of bugs, and hopefully your swim school and pool operators are as stringent on protecting you from the 1 per cent that chlorine doesn't zap as we are. I was worrying a bit about pool temps - one of the pools I teach in is sometimes 36 degrees!

Next Feb is a leap year. I wonder if any of our babies will have a birthday every four years?!

My DC1 will be 6 on Feb 15th. He'll be very cross if baby steals his birthday thunder. DC2 was due the day before my birthday, but she had the decency to be 11 days late!

phlossie · 11/06/2011 09:14

And twittwooo I also had weird dreams about being on the toilet! Yes, mine are off the wall, but I remember that from last time!

currybaby · 11/06/2011 10:53

Hi ladies

I just went to the doctor and he was horrible. Really grumpy and dismissive of any questions I asked. He referred me to the midwife so hopefully I'll see her soon and she'll be a bit more approachable.

I just seem to have lost all my pregnancy symptoms in the last few days. My boobs are still sore and I'm testing positive but apart from that I feel fine - I'm so scared of having a missed miscarraige. Suppose the only thing is to wait for another 5 weeks for the scan!

It seems that a couple of you are not really getting any symptoms though so it might be ok. sounds like you're feeling the same aj71 ?

I've never heard bad anything about swimming and pregnancy (and I've read a lot in the last couple of weeks) - I've only heard good things about it being a good pregnancy exercise.

Here's to another weekend of coming up with non-drinking excuses :-)

LankyLegs · 11/06/2011 11:30

Hi all just a quick one as posting from phone whilst out. currybaby just wanted to say I don't have many symptoms either but trying not to worry too much (easier said than done). I told my mum yesterday and she also said not to worry with lack of symptoms. She had 5 and said she was quite different with them all. However it costing loads if money in Poas addicion! Will catch up properly later but in the meantime I hope everyone has a good saturday.

aj71 · 11/06/2011 12:31

currybaby You have described how I feel. Having had a missed miscarriage in the past, I am prone to overanalysing things. That said, I'm really trying not to which us easier said than done!

I only POAS twice. I may do so again tomorrow morning though! Are the tests that indicate how pregnant reliable at all? I should be 6 weeks tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Welcome annie, sorry about the timing, but i'm sure you'll be pleased once it arrives none the less. How long do you have to be in a job to qualify for maternity leave? Will you be long enough?

Phlossie and everyone else commenting on the swimming - thanks. I feel mostly reassured!! Are you a water babies teacher? That's what we do, and love it, and the pool is really warm which is a joy! I think I worried because my consultant told me not to swim until i'd had a positive pg test (we're IVF), the nurses said "it's just one of his (doc's) funny little things" so they obviously thought it was ridiculous too, but it did lodge a slight doubt in my mind!

ANyway, i won't be having any nice hot baths this pg, last time i had one bath (we don't have one at home so i was so excited on holiday), and the net day I bled. So i'm completely off baths! I know, it's crazy!

On wine - i never fancy wine, but now, of course, each time i open the fridge and see a bottle, i want some. I'm of the "a little bit from time to time is fine" belief during pg, rather than off it completely, but i think the first 12 weeks it's worth keeping off anyway. I had to look up what we can't eat as I'd totally forgotten.

Right, must do some work while DD naps...

puzzletree · 11/06/2011 17:51

Hi all, just checking in.

Still feeling pretty ok really, things are tasting and smelling a bit weird. But mostly it's just a very sore bit of gum that's irritating me. I've got gum issues which I'm really hoping don't flare up too much this pregnancy, I'll be in serious danger of losing teeth soon :(

Anyway, today's the day DP has started tackling his list of things to do before baby, he's painting our bedroom today, not sure what's next, stressing about a new car probably but if it keeps him busy I'm happy :)

Hope you're all feeling well(ish!)

Lifeissweet · 11/06/2011 19:59

I'm due on 5th Feb. It's all a bit unexpected and complicated. I have a 5 yr old DS, who was very prem and is deaf, my Dh and I split up 2 yrs ago and I am pg with DP of 6 month's baby. He already has a 2 yr old DS. I will basically be going from 1 DS and no plans for another (as it is very risky for me) to 2 and a step-DS in no time at all - that's if it doesn't all go horribly wrong again. I'm booked in with the complicated pregnancy team at the hospital, so at least I'm having an eye kept on me.

I feel like one of those women on Jeremy Kyle with loads of kids by different fathers. I'm really hoping people don't think I'm some kind of feckless jezabel! Blush

aj71 · 11/06/2011 20:15

lifeissweet Well, if you're a feckless Jezebel then so am I. I split up with my dd's daughter when she was 2 (10 years ago nearly). This baby is with my lovely dp. So, I'll have two kids by two different fathers. I don't think anyone judges on that these days.

I feel fine still. Just tired. DP has told me to put my feet up and is making dinner. We set our wedding date today! This should call for celebratory vino but, well, you know!!! I'll make do with my elderflower cordial plus soda water!

woowa · 11/06/2011 20:20

Adding another newbie - i think we're going to need either a double decker or one of those awesome/awful bendy buses. Welcome lifeissweet. No-one on here is a feckless Jezebel. Hope all goes well with the pregnancy.

Hello, can I join in? I'm a regular but I've name-changed because DH says I'm not allowed to tell 'my imaginary MN friends' about the pregnancy before our friends and family!

Only found out today, due 13th Feb

Right, off to read the rest of the thread and check you all out Wink

puzzletree · 11/06/2011 20:24

aj71 elderflower & soda sounds lovely, I've got fancy tonic water with a slice of lemon (and am only slightly missing the gin)

Lifeissweet congratulations, and I wouldn't have thought your relationship situation is particularly unusual, don't feel embarrassed about it anyway. Hope you can relax and not stress too much in this pregnancy, sounds like you had a tough time first time round.

phlossie · 11/06/2011 20:44

woowa - yes Water Babies! Glad you love - I do too! (and I blame it because it makes me so broody!)

aj71 - apart from sore boobs and a bloated tummy I have no symptoms, which I am worrying about. But I don't think I start feeling really sick until about 6-7 weeks, so I'm trying not to.
