runaroundstartsnow · 11/06/2011 21:09

can someone add me please? I have a feeling i am the oldest on here as i am already 40! I am due on the 4th of feb and it will be my 4th thanks

Xavielli · 11/06/2011 21:11

lifeissweet I really feel for you. My life with regards to relationships and kids has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I conceived DS1 when I was 18, then DD when I was 19. I then left their father at age 22. We had only been together 9 months when we fell pg first time. Even on my own it was easier than being with him in many ways, so I've never had a doubt that it was the right thing to do!

I then met my current DP, who has 2 DDs from his previous marriage. We were in the process of separating as he didn't want more children and I did when we fell with DS2, who arrived in October. This Feb DP had a vasectomy and now we are expecting our second ( or 4th or 6th... Depending on how you look at it!)

So, if anyone belongs on JK it's probably me! Life doesn't always go to plan and it sounds like ( as I hope I do too) you are making the very best of the hand you've been dealt.

PreScanName · 11/06/2011 21:23

Thanks Woowa! Sorry about my crappy name. After the Scan I shall revert to my proper name (just to mess up the list Grin)

This will be DC2, I already have DS, 19mo.

aj71 · 11/06/2011 21:51

runaroundstartnow If it makes you feel better, I'm 40 in two months. I don't feel it so tell myself it's not a big deal!!

I am wondering what the reaction to my pregnancy will be with friends and colleagues. I've decided to wait till 12 weeks to tell anyone including my 11 year old dd.

willitbe · 11/06/2011 23:20

runaroundstartnow - sorry I am older than you!!!!! So I will claim the geriatric prize for now if you don't mind!!!!

harrietlichman · 12/06/2011 08:42

I am 40 in 4 months too....can I be added please?

DC3, 10th Feb

slightly scared, having previously had mc at 8 wks, so very much feeling am in the woods atm....

currybaby · 12/06/2011 10:46

ah but can i claim the prize for the oldest on here having DC1 - at 36?? :-)

pleased to say (weirdly) i've woken up this morning feeling rough, nausious and much more 'pregnant'. not sure how long i'll be pleased about this but it has reassured me for a while.

Twittwooo · 12/06/2011 10:56

Ooh, I'm quite glad I'm not the oldest having DC1 at 33 - well, I will be 34 by the due date - sorry currybaby!!

I've still not had any real symptoms - only mild tiredness, slightly tender boobs and what I think could be VERY mild morning sickness. A couple of times I've coughed and gagged slightly but it's only lasted a short time and not bothered me much. I'm not sure if what's happening is much different to how I usually am or not, it's difficult to tell.

I'm really hoping I'm one of the people who get don't get many symptoms early on (I'm nearly 6 weeks) and that it's not because something's not right.

Anyone else in the same boat?

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/06/2011 11:25

Twittwooo I'm not getting many symptoms just now either at 7 weeks, pretty sure I've been the same both previous times. But they did kick in about 8-9 weeks for me, and boy, it's not nice! I know plenty of people who've just siled through the whole thing with no symptoms at all!

I decided I wanted dc3 born before my 40th, I've just turned 39, so I can hopefully party a bit on my birthday! I had dd1 at 34, didn't think I'd have another two before I hit 40!

Twittwooo · 12/06/2011 11:39

Thanks EsmeWetherwax (I'm not sure how to embolden the names like everyone else does ..) - It's good to know someone else is in a similar position. I'm sure the symptoms will come, but I'm happy to wait!

Nice to know you had your first at the same age as me too. I'd like to think we'll have another while still in our 30s, but I think I'll focus on this little one first!

Good plan getting the babies in before your 40th - partying is important too!

xx

harrietlichman · 12/06/2011 12:03

I will be spending my 40th sipping alcohol free beer...(hopefully!) but at least it means I get to see everyone else being drunk and foolish!

PreScanName · 12/06/2011 12:06

I'm 32; had DS at 31, and I was the youngest in my ante-natal group! Most were your age or older, Curry.

No symptoms here either, except some rather worrying period-type crampy feelings...

Last time my boobs got bigger and sore/tingly, but I think that was at about 6-7wks . I was never sick, but felt a bit gaggy up until 12wks - a bit like you're getting now, Twittwoo.

Have you got a big shin-dig planned, aj71?? Grin

PreScanName · 12/06/2011 12:07

Thank god for alcohol-free beer, harriet. Got me through my first pregnancy

EsmeWeatherwax · 12/06/2011 12:26

Is alcohol free beer nice? Not normally a beer fan I have to say, but I could murder a lager shandy at the minute, weird cravings!

AlpinePony · 12/06/2011 12:45

curry I was 36 with my first, who will be 1 year in a couple of weeks. I'll be 38 when this one comes, due date 19th feb. :) I only waited 6 months TTC again (was advised due to emcs) and it's taken us 6 months to conceive - I figured given my age we needed to crack on. Mind you, we were already planning number 2 just hours after number 1 was born. Blush

PreScanName · 12/06/2011 13:05

Esme - it's a lot better than alcohol-free wine, that's for sure!

LolaRennt · 12/06/2011 15:23

Alpinepony If I remember correctly you were green with Envy on my "whoops i am pregnant thread" Grin! guess you neednt have been!

aj71 · 12/06/2011 16:05

prescanname I did have a big cocktail night out planned for the Fri before my birthday (it's a Monday). Alas, I will now be on mocktails! But, on the plus side, we are going to the south of France on the Sunday so get my 40th there!! We hadn't exactly planned on being pregnant before it. Thought at my age, with my history, it'd take months, if ever.

I still feel fine. Sore breasts are my only sign. Will be relieved when I feel sick or have my scan confirming all is ok.

I'm meant to be doing a 10k run next Sunday. Am I stupid to think about not doing it for fear of causing problems? I'm not a huge runner but had been training.

diedandgonetodevon · 12/06/2011 16:12

aj71 not stupid at all imo but frankly I feel so wiped out at the moment I wouldn't contemplate running 1k let alone 10 Grin

AlpinePony · 12/06/2011 16:13

Lola excellent! The envy must've transformed itself in to a bfp. :)

LolaRennt · 12/06/2011 16:22

Haha I got alpinepony pregnant. Confused Grin

AlpinePony · 12/06/2011 16:25

Haha ! :)

louby86 · 12/06/2011 16:54

aj71 my doctor has told me with exercise if it's something you do regularly then carry on but if you've got to push yourself further than usual it's best to give it a miss just to be on the safe side! Hope that helps! I don't know how you're still considering it, the thought of walking that far is enough to make me cry! You must be a lot fitter than me!

aj71 · 12/06/2011 17:26

louby86 I am doing it with a friend so don't want to let get down. That said, I think it would fall into the realm of 'pushing myself' so I'm going to have to think of a suitable excuse.

Between making up reasons for not drinking and now not running, I feel all I'm doing is fibbing to my friends!!
