LolaRennt · 08/06/2011 12:58

LankyLegs Dh and I were basically afraid to touch each other for the first 3 months last time, mostly due to it being such a big deal when I finally got pg after several years of TTC. I doubt we would be worried this time at all, that said I have a 4 month old who works as very good contraceptive (well not very good obviously Blush) most of the time.

currybaby I am also having a bad case of bowels

I had really nasty morning sickness and heartburn last time, lost loads of weight, but nothing this time.. Makes me a bit nervous

gonerogue · 08/06/2011 14:41

currybaby and Lola I am also in the "bad bowels" camp but remember I had it last time too.

DH and I haven't had sex since we found out but that's mainly down to my 9 mo being a grumpy madam who won't sleep. Grin. I do agree Xavielli that pregnancy sex is great. and may I say hats off to you with DC4 - I've told DH that we'll have to see how we get on with DC2 before making any decisions on DC3.

Puzzle hope you don't get caught out with your G&T's - but that is what I am planning on doing for my nephews birthday in July so let me know how you got on.

Esme glad to hear your first appointment went well. I have to ring my doctor's and organise it but might wait until next week. I'm also rubbish at keeping up but will do my best Smile

Lanky I have the second of my digi tsts in the press waiting to POAS at the weekend - so no you are not insane. I can't believe it's still in the press though. We'll see if the will power is strong enough to resist for another day or so. Grin

DD is down for her nap so I better go and get some work while the going is good.

Take care

highheelsandequations · 08/06/2011 15:19

lanky I heard through the grapevine that congratulations are in order, so very pleased for you :)

LPO · 08/06/2011 17:14

Can I join? DC2 due 14th Feb. Found out on Monday after trying for 7months, very excited!!

LankyLegs · 08/06/2011 17:57

Thanks for all the advice re the ahem bedroom antics... Blush

Welcome LPO hope its starting to sink in?!

Thank you highheels for popping in and the congrats! Very sweet of you - I still lurk on the frolickers thread and not long left for you now! Will be keeping an eye out Grin

Esme yes I had heard of those dreams but didn't think they would happen so soon! Pleased the midwife appt went well. That's great you can book in with them yourself.

Lola My sister keeps telling me every pregnancy is different and she has recently popped out 3 and mentioned that she had no sickness with the girls but did with her son. Anyway - I think it wont stop us from freaking out either way - doesn't matter what anyone says!

Generogue I think I will end up POASing again tomorrow - its been a few days and am starting to twitch at not having done one in a while!

Twittwooo · 08/06/2011 18:18

Hi again and congratulations to all the recent posters!

I am 5 weeks now and have had some brown coloured discharge about 3 times over the last week. It's not much, but enough for me to notice. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? This is my first pregnancy and I'm so worried that it's not really happening. I'm glad to hear some of you keep peeing on sticks .. I've been so close to doing that too just to 'check'!

Any advice or words of encouragement would be great.

Thanks xx

EsmeWeatherwax · 08/06/2011 19:27

Twittwooo I think this can be quite normal, I know I had it in my first pregnancy, and actual bleeding in my second, but everything was fine. I think you need to worry if blood is red and accompanied by cramping, but other than that not so much.

phlossie · 08/06/2011 19:53

Whoop whoop! Can I join too? Tested positive yesterday and today (third test, as it was a faint line, but my period's not due until Saturday). Not even 4 weeks pregs, so haven't told anyone except my mum and dad!

Baby #3 for us! Due on Feb 19th. DS will be 6 and DD 4!

x

woowa · 08/06/2011 20:02

Glad you're all having loads of sex. Very good for marriage. Having had IVF though i am completely terrified of losing baby so am off sex for now! One of our best efforts ever was 5 days before DD1 was born. Apparently massive bumps are very sexy Blush.

I had a dream about sex last night too though - and I had forgotten that aspect of it!

Hoping to get sick soon. I wasn't at all with DD1 and worried constantly that i was nolonger pg, but everyone said i was mad to want to be, which i assume is still true this time?

the only diff is I'm totally off cereal at breakfast, now got to be toast and marmite! Must be all that folic acid in marmite :) btw, newbies, if you haven't got any yet, go to chemist and buy 3 months worth of folic acid, it's the only thing you really need to do asap.

Right, off to read less worthwhile threads and think about pushchairs. they became a total obsession in first pg and i made a bad pushchair decision. This time I need a double as DD1 will still need to be in it. If we have twins i don't know what i'm going to do!

phlossie · 08/06/2011 20:15

Thanks for adding me, woowa.

I feel sick which is what prompted me to poas! Plus sore boobs. Weird dreams were the first symptom in DC2's pregnancy. I'm craving ale... could murder a Leffe... obv won't give in to that one!

Those who are having DC2s-4s, when do you tell your other DCs? I'm thinking after 12 week scan because 1. don't want to have a miscarriage conversation with them (or at least the option not to), 2. 9 months is ages if you're only 3 1/2, and 3. They'll tell everyone!

Xavielli · 08/06/2011 20:35

phlossie I'm planning on telling the kids after the 12 week scan. They will shout it from the rooftops as soon as they know so I want to make sure everything is ok! DS2 will only be 16 months when this one arrives so it will be a case of showing him little babies and trying to explain that's what's in mummy's tummy! All fun and games.

woowa I have a mad buggy fascination! I've already decided on a Phil & Teds this time. It's really the only buggy that will go the distance with two babies and survive all their different stages. I have an iCandy Cherry at the moment which I would highly recommend to anyone

m1nn1em0u5e · 08/06/2011 20:38

We told our boys almost straight away ie 5 weeks as I have struggled with hyperemesis in both previous pregnancies, & didnt them worrying about me if I started vomiting!..We have explained that its a long way off & baby wont arrive until after Father Christmas has been!....My 8 year old has an understanding of mc as my cousin who we are close to suffered with one previously. But yes they told everybody!...so no secret is safe!!

OP posts:
phlossie · 08/06/2011 20:56

Cool - I'll wait if I can. But I'm a vomiter, so it might be hard!

Xavielli - I have 19 months between DCs 1 and 2, and it's a brilliant age gap. My DS was a bit put out for about 5 days, and then he forgot there was ever a time when his little sister wasn't around, They're still close. I'm a bit scared of how DC3 will affect the balance!

Xavielli and woowa - I had a phil&teds for DCs 1 & 2 and I could not have survived without it! I now have a Quinny Buzz, but I'm trying to talk a friend into selling me her Bugaboo. My older two are too big for buggies.

woowa · 08/06/2011 21:09

I've had DD in a rear-facer since birth and can't bear the thought of not having that with DC2, so i've been looking at rear facing double prams. At least there are far fewer of these on the market and so there's not much choice. There's one i'd really like going for a song on ebay, so seriously considering bidding for it which seems a bit mad, prescan...

Would I be completely mad? will my DH go nuts? yes...

Xavielli · 08/06/2011 21:11

Haha phlossie my eldest two are also 16 months apart! So I know what I have instore, a years worth of double nappies leaves a deep impression!

Between DC2 and 3 there is 4 and a half years. The elder two absolutely adore him and are old enough to be helpful and young enough to actually want to help! Lol. I'm really glad it's worked out this way as I can see how close DS1 and DD are and thought that DS2 would always be a little bit left out.

Not sure any of that made sense! 9pm and I'm already in bed, so tired but can't seem to switch off.

puzzletree · 09/06/2011 08:10

Morning all!
Congratulations to all the new BFPs :)
Think I got away with not drinking last night, was weird being sober whilst everyone else was quite merry though. Stayed up a bit late, yawn.

We haven't told the boys yet, I guess we will once we've had a scan and have a photo to show them and are telling other people too. They're almost 3 & 5 so I'm sure they'll enjoy being involved, but there's a long time to wait, and I'd rather they didn't know if we did have an early miscarriage or something was wrong.

Haven't thought about prams yet. We had a pramette with our first, then got a Phil & Teds (lifesaver!) when DS2 was born. There are 22 months between them and I don't drive. We won't need a double this time, but the pushchair we have now is a basic maclaren that doesn't recline flat. Maybe I'll get to buy a new one :) Hoping I can track down my wrap sling too, could be very useful for a winter baby. Also hoping for other hand-backs and hand-me-downs, we've got rid of most of our baby stuff. Though it'll be nice to buy a few new things too.

Right, I'm now fuelled with my first caffeine hit of the day. It's starting to taste a bit yacky, as are other things. Otherwise feeling pretty ok still...

aj71 · 09/06/2011 09:40

Jumping in to say I found out Saturday that I am pg! Due date of 5 Feb!

This is my 2nd, my dd is nearly 12 (eek, age gap!).

I am nearly 40 so expected it to take a while to get pg but somehow it happened the first month.

LPO · 09/06/2011 09:51

Sadly I woke up with heavy bleeding. So think I will be leaving this thread.
Good luck to you all.

aj71 · 09/06/2011 09:52

LPO, I'm so sorry.

Take care of yourself x

Xavielli · 09/06/2011 09:57

So sorry LPO! Sending lots of love your way x

gonerogue · 09/06/2011 10:00

LPD sorry to hear that. Take care.

phlossie · 09/06/2011 12:16

That's shit, LPO. Look after yourself. It could happen to any of us, and I'm too nervous to be excited at the moment. xxx

Phew, Xavielli - and you're doing it again???
woowa - are you looking at the iCandy? I too have a pushchair fetish!

POAS again today - twice. I'm a bit obsessed. That makes 5, and I have one in a box so I may as well do that too. It's my DH's birthday today and I feel a bit bad because I called him a wanker. He was being all 'play it down' because the vertical line on the Clear Blue test was so faint. So I bought a First Response test and the positive is as clear as in anything. In your face, birthday boy!

EsmeWeatherwax · 09/06/2011 13:02

Sorry to heat that LPO, hope you're ok.

Think the vomiting is kicking in, oh joy!

Woowa, phlossie, my pram obsession is legendary, have been crawling eBay and gumtree already! I have a fairly much immaculate Loola up tho, complete with carrycot and carseat, so will try to just stick to that! Think I will need a crib tho, cos Dh and I are in the smaller bedroom now, and no way will the cotbed fit into it.

aj I'm the same age as you, didn't think it would be as quick as it was either. But I do have a few friends with similar age gaps to yours, and they get loads of help from the older kids!

diedandgonetodevon · 09/06/2011 13:17

Is there room for another one?
Found out I was pg on Tuesday, and with luck am due on the 10th of Feb.

With DS I didn't find out until I was about 8 weeks gone so this feels like scarily early days....fingers crossed.
