Hey littleboxes yerr I'm not too far from manchester really. I'm from Preston. Until today when I got all my gumpf through I didn't really know the purpose of the 20 week scan either! But after reading the leaflet on it there are quite a handful of conditions they are looking for. Quite interesting really!

louby86 · 25/06/2011 18:47

babycarmen I wouldn't leave it until Monday, all you'll do until then is worry and the chances are you'll be worrying over nothing! Give the hospital a call and see what they can do.

Re: sickness, I've not been physically sick today! One of the few people at my work who knows told me when I wake up in a morning to have a couple of digestive biscuits and a small glass of lemonade! I tried it this morning and it seems to have done the trick, unless it's a coincidence and I was just having a good day anyway!

LittleBoxes · 25/06/2011 18:59

Melliebobs oh, other side of Manchester from where I'm from then - I'm from Cheshire. Have lived in London for 20 years though.

LolaAnn · 25/06/2011 20:05

Hi Ladies, I'm due on the 25th - second pregnancy for me, have a DS who is one, will have the dreaded 2 under 2 for a few months - he is a May baby. No sickness or anything yet, but it is such early days. I wasn't sick at all with him but feel very different this time around! Had a homebirth with him and already planning on how to get a birthing pool this time around...

notcitrus · 25/06/2011 20:48

Littleboxes - sushi with smoked salmon or cooked fish like mackerel or eel is fine, also the prawn ones are cooked. And Yo! do tofu ones, noodles, salads etc too. And supermarket sushi or anywhere else that has it readymade is frozen first so that's fine - google FSA, sushi and pregnancy for all the details.

Not that I spent my first pregnancy ranting about craving sushi and only being able to eat the crap stuff, or anything. I'd also made it clear that when I got home from hospital with ds I wanted an enormous sushi platter delivered, especially given the lack of tea and toast in hospital. So after 3 days of hospital, MrNC faffed for ages choosing, and then turned out the restaurant was shut on Mondays!

I did munch through £50 of sushi the next day though. :)
The restaurant even threw in two free bottles of sake. Shame I hate it!

We'll find out the sex as while I wouldn't care, I used to be an embryologist and could tell from the scan myself, and it wouldn't be fair for me to know and MrNC not. And it might help with the name, as we have a girl's name already - last time we went 'Boy! Aww... bugger, have to agree on a name now...' Fingers crossed I'll get to that point...

nizley · 25/06/2011 20:49

Congratulations everyone. I am expecting my 3rd in early Feb. I already have 2 glorious boys aged 2 and 3 so it's going to be busy x

gonerogue · 25/06/2011 21:07

Hi Everyone, this bus does move fast doesn't it?

babycarmen I really hope you are ok and that things work out for the best for you. Good luck the midwife on Monday.

LolaAnn there are a few of us in the same boat - my DD will only be 18 months when this LO is born. Grin

melliebobs so Sad about your cousin.

I think we will leave finding out the sex until this one is born. With DD we found out because DH wanted to, but I have said we'll get the surprise this time. Grin

DD poor mite is sick today - she has thrown up constantly since about 6 p.m. - she's only gone to bed now with a bottle of cooled boiled water in her so hopefully she will have a few hours sleep at least. She did start creche this week soI figure its the start of the bugs that she is going to get.

I am wrecked today - and have to cook dinner tomorrow for some friends so will haul myself out of bed to make sure the house is clean before they get here.

CHat to you all later.

LittleBoxes · 25/06/2011 21:11

Notcitrus, now you've started me off on the sushi cravings, you booger . You must have been so Angry with the closed restaurant!

I am now in the middle of my non-night out. DD is having fun (I hope) at sleepover and DH skipped off to the party an hour ago. I'm sitting here unable to concentrate on anything and feeling resentful because I'd usually have a glass of wine in my hand at this point on a Saturday night. Bah. Maybe I should have gone...

LittleBoxes · 25/06/2011 21:13

I'll definitely be finding out the sex with this one too. I think surprises are overrated Grin

puzzletree · 25/06/2011 21:27

Hello all.

babycarmen hope the bleeding stops for you and all looks good next week. I know lots of people who've had bleeding through pregnancy with a perfectly good outcome. But I'm sure that won't stop you worrying. It's my turn today to worry about feeling too well, so annoying, I should just enjoy not feeling sick!

melliebobs I hope the heart condition is something they can operate on, how awful for your cousin :(. They picked up an enlarged kidney on DS2's 20 week scan, which turned out to be fine in the end thankfully. It's good that they have a thorough look at the organs at that stage, they can then be monitored, treated at birth or the baby can be delivered in a specialist hospital if necessary. Fingers crossed for everyone on this board it just will be a photo opportunity.

Tonight I've stuffed my face with indian take-away and am now vegetating on the sofa. Anyone else watching the Glastonbury coverage and thinking it's a bit rubbish this year?

OddEyes · 25/06/2011 21:36

Evening ladies!
babycarmen, i think that sounds really normal. Weekends are such a frustration. My guess is that epu most probably not open and A&E is a stress. Stay home and rest up all you can and avoid worrying as best you can. Wait until Monday. You sound like you know what they are going to say to you at this point anyways. Am sure they will bring forward your scan for you on Monday, it is all about reassurance at this stage anyway.
We have chicken pox x2, they are both covered from head to toe as of this morning. Oh joy! Just when I thought I was feeling as bad as I possibly could do. They dosed up with everything going so praying for a quiet night. I have had it but am still a little concerned after hearing of 2nd doses.
We found out sex with both, ds and dd, I find it helps me bond more easily and I think it will help the children too.
I am in London btw.
Right to bed!
6+2

LittleBoxes · 25/06/2011 21:41

puzzletree Glastonbury coverage is awful, isn't it? What Fearne Cotton has to do with anything I've no idea. The whole thing's so humourless and dull. It's making me feel all sad about John Peel not being there. I find Elbow insufferably dreary too...and the prospect of Coldplay is just depressing.

Though I am quite looking forward to Beyoncé tomorrow...

puzzletree · 25/06/2011 22:07

LittleBoxes Janelle Monae on now is pretty good. Waking us up from the Elbow-induced coma. Fearne is just so simultaneously vacant and perky. And Reggie (?) throws out non-comment after non-question. Gah!

Maltesers88 · 25/06/2011 22:45

Evening ladies, who's still awake?!

Just needed to vent.....am 5+6 and just had to leave an awesome gig, that ive been excited about for weeks, early and miss the best bits! I suffer terribly from emetophobia and was starting to feel a bit queasy and panicky and knew I just had to get out of there. Sad

Back home now feeling a bit better but worry that this is just the beginning and so far it's only been a tiny bit of nausea. How am I going to cope?!

I know it might all be alright but just the thought of getting sick terrifies me. Seriously I don't know how I'm going to cope with this. Feel like crying about it all Sad

Don't suppose anyone out there knows of any miraculous cures?! Wink

puzzletree · 26/06/2011 08:04

Maltesers88 there aren't any magic cures but different people have different ways of relieving or minimising it. You may not actually be sick, I never have been despite the all day nausea. Think positive and don't panic just yet! I find the best things are to get as much rest and sleep as possible, to eat/drink little and often, bland carbohydrates like crackers/toast, or whatever you fancy. Some people find ginger and/or citrus flavours help. Or those anti-sickness sea bands. When I worked I needed to have a big bowl of cereal for breakfast as soon as I got up (even if I didn't fancy it) and that seemed to get me going and keep the nausea at bay for a bit.
Sorry you had to leave the gig- who was it? We're big fans of live music too and I remember forcing myself to go out to a gig at 7 weeks pregnant first time for my birthday and feeling awful and having to sit down on the disgusting steps for most of it! Wouldn't plan any gigs now for early or late pregnancy without allocated seats and easy access to the bar/toilets, preferably at a venue that sells ice cream too :)

Maltesers88 · 26/06/2011 11:21

Thanks puzzletree - will be giving all of those a go!

It was Bon Jovi! Luckily we had VIP access so we weren't crammed in with the main crowd but I just couldn't cope with the thought of standing for 3 hours with the music vibrating my stomach!

Feel much calmer this morning and am going to stock up on Ginger and lemons! Will be trying out those seabands too, already have some in the house from previous boat trips!

Am off to take it very easy in the sunshine Smile

louby86 · 26/06/2011 11:53

maltesers88 I'm starting to wonder what I should do about next weekend now, got a stupidly busy weekend of tickets that were bought in October! I'm off to see take that on Saturday in wembley, but I've got seats for that. Then I'm coming back up to the midlands Saturday night to go back to Milton Keynes Sunday to see foo fighters, bit of a random mix I know! Do you think I should give it a miss???

Hope you all have a lovely day in the sun!

Maltesers88 · 26/06/2011 12:15

louby86 I would say try and go if you feel up to it. Despite missing the end I'm glad I gave it a go. Otherwise I would have been sitting at home really regretting it! I knew it was the right decision to leave but if you've been looking forward to it for ages then you should go. TT should be fine as you have seats but you can always leave FF early if you're not feeling it. You might be fine and have an amazing night but you don't want to regret not going.

LolaRennt · 26/06/2011 16:11

LolaAnn

dd1 will have just turned 1 when dc2 is born!

LolaRennt · 26/06/2011 16:18

It was Bon Jovi!

malteasers88 Maybe the baby just has better taste in music than you do Grin sorry! Hope you feel better though!

babycarmen · 26/06/2011 17:20

Thanks everyone for your support, the bleeding stopped and ive had no cramping so hopefully everything is still ok. Do feel a bit tender in my abdomen though but its probably just my uterus growing, right?
Feel even sicker then before though :( Nightmare. And after the midwife tomorrow i have to deal with the mother-in-law all day then my own mother at dinner time. Joys!

I feel so bad for DD, shes 3 and a half and very energetic but i just cannot run around and play with her like i used too as im just too nauseous. Trying to convince her that sitting STILL and colouring, reading, doing jigsaws, is just as fun as climbing over everything and going at 100mph...

phlossie · 26/06/2011 17:20

louby I would not miss the Foos for anything. Take That I could take or leave... [ducks flying missiles and death stares]

Is anyone else showing??? I'm 6 weeks today and I have a bump! It's my third, so I guess everything's a bit baggy down there, and my tummy never really got flat again after the other two, but it's properly sticking out already!

phlossie · 26/06/2011 17:21

Sorry babycarmen posted at the same time as you - I hope everythings ok. Take it easy now x

QueenFee · 26/06/2011 19:09

Baby hope all goes smoothly now. Totally sympathise with the lack of energy I have none either.

Phlossie struggling to hide it here too dc4 my body has given up!

BillComptonstrousers · 26/06/2011 20:24

Excuse the language ladies but fuuuckkkk I'm spotting Sad

It has stopped now but I've got bad back and very stabby/crampy pains.I've had miscarriages before so get very worried till the first scan. Plus I get anxiety/panis attacks which I have stopped taking the tablets for as I wasn't sure if I could or not, should ring the doctor really!
