Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
InnocentRedhead · 23/06/2011 22:07

Hey, welcome malteasers!!! Hope you are well? and yeah just drop in for a chat, i will put your details on the stats thread and just feel free to chat about whatever... We are a very busy bus so the chat if you don't drop in for a day, you will be lost.

But we are a friendly lot and we don't bite.. Well i wouldn't be so sure about some of them :) Congratulations!!

PDog - i don't know how you could tackle that. If they know you are TTC and you are not a big drinker anyway, just say you have given up alcohol while TTC - some people do - however you will probably want to burst the news anyway, i don't know if thats you though... Or you could go to the bar and just get a lemonade, a coke etc. and say it has vodka in...

LolaRennt · 23/06/2011 22:48

just say you gave up, and dont want to be drinking and then find out youre pregnant

Needle · 23/06/2011 23:29

Seriously, ladies "i'm on antibiotics" it'll get you out of almost any drinking situation.

Urgh. Day. From. Hell. The shelf in our kitchen fell down with all my cookery books and the fishtank fell down. The books are ruined, the fruitbowl was smashed, dh's paperwork is sodden, and the water is all under the lino. Then I practically fought to the death for spots in the buggy park and chreche at the pool, only to discover that there was a swimming gala on so couldn't swim anyway.

I've had my scan date through- 8th august. Am I one of the last so far? Still no real symptoms, boobs are fine, no nausea, just a loss of appetite and headache, same as last year. I keep forgetting that i'm only 5+3, seems like weeks since i found out.

PamBeesly · 23/06/2011 23:37

Sorry you had a shit day Needle, I hope tomorrow will be better. I am 5 weeks too and also feel like I found out ages ago, no major symptoms just a sore back and heavy breasts. Maybe you will be lucky and have no bad symptoms? Are the books salvagable? You can repair books using sheets of tissue paper and leaving them in a warm place with heavier books placed on top of them. Are the fish ok?

LolaRennt · 24/06/2011 00:34

Seriously, ladies "i'm on antibiotics" it'll get you out of almost any drinking situation.

The problem is needle....everyone knows that one! Grin

louby86 · 24/06/2011 01:51

needle I'm 6 weeks and won't get a scan booked in until I see the midwife on the
11th when I'll be 8+3, hopefully there won't be too long a wait!

Here's to a better day for you tomorrow!

herecomesthsun · 24/06/2011 03:25

The problem with the antibiotics line is it is unusual for there truly to be a prob with taking antibiotics and alcohol. There is an antibiotic metronidazole with which taking alcohol is a problem but this is not commonly used, hence using taking antibiotics as an excuse for not drinking is almost like code for "I'm pregnant".

PS I have got missed off the list and am going to reinstate. I am unusually "mature"( like fine wine), I am 5weeks+5, I have 1 dc, have sadly had quite a lot of mcs and hence have a 6 week scan set up next week.

Needle · 24/06/2011 06:06

Lol, I guess because i'm the 1st of my circle to have babies, i can get away with a lot more than some of you seasoned pros! I did use "i've got a bit of a headache and dont want to make it worse" last night, which seemed to be accepted unquestioningly.

PDog · 24/06/2011 07:45

Thanks all, will go with the don't want to take the chance in case I am pg. They will prob guess and then I won't be able to keep a straight face.

Hope you have a bettter today Needle. I haven't been to the docs yet so no scan appt for me yet. Going to make an appt today for when I am back off my hols.

How are you feeling today Annie? Have you had chance to check out the law yet?

Off to work soon, DD had a bad night last night though so I will be falling asleep at my desk!

puzzletree · 24/06/2011 07:49

Yeah I'd never use the antibiotics line, far too obvious! I've just been saying I feel rough from a previous night out, or one of the kids has been keeping me up at night, or accepting a small glass of wine, taking a few sips and then putting it down the sink later, or making my own drinks with just mixers. Even then I reckon a few people might have sussed me, most of my friends have kids and have been through the whole hiding a pregnancy thing themselves :). Perhaps for a holiday you might have to do the medication line but I still reckon they'll work it out if they know you're ttc. Most people are too polite to actually say anything though even if they do suspect. You'll just get a lot of 'we knew it!' when you do announce.

MissRedIndie · 24/06/2011 08:02

Hi all, after a week of bleeding, I've just had a bfn, so at least have some closure on this. Wish you all the best of luck and hope I'm the last person to be leaving the bus! Please can someone remove me from the list?

Xavielli · 24/06/2011 08:53

So sorry missred! Best of luck to you and yours and positive thoughts for your dh's recovery x

Well, 4th time unlucky with morning sickness by the looks of things! Was sick this morning, baby didn't want it's early morning banana! Bleurg! No relief though! Still bloody starving!

So sorry misred :(

LittleBoxes · 24/06/2011 09:14

Missred - so sorry to hear that. Life is so rubbish sometimes. Wishing you and your DH all the best. Have updated list (below).

Good point about the veggie sushi, everyone who mentioned it. I'm still convinced they will notice though. Having said that, they're both about 10 years younger than me with no children, so maybe that sort of thing just isn't on their radar and I'm just being paranoid. I dunno.

Am supposed to go out tomorrow night, and my ingenious solution to the 'yes I am on antibiotics, honest I am' problem is ... to not go. It's a 40th birthday party. There is no food and it will revolve around heavy drinking and dancing. I can't drink, the music will be too loud for talking and my completely misguided worry that exercise causes mc means I won't feel like dancing (in my defence, when I had mine it was after a day blithely carrying boxes around in an office move). So DH is going on his own, DD will still go on her sleepover and I'm going to sit at home watching Glastonbury on the telly. Job done. Will invite the 40th birthday person round for dinner at a later date to make up for it!

Poor old you Needle - did the fish survive?

Maltesers88 · 24/06/2011 09:16

Morning everyone.
Pls can I be added to the list?
31, DC1, due 21st Feb.

Am now 5+5 and excited but scared! Smile

Stinkyminkymoo · 24/06/2011 09:37

Hello! I'm new here too and recently discovered there is a February bus so thought I'd clamber on!

This is my 1st pregnancy, very excited as only for married in May this year so is a honeymoon baby! Grin is due mid feb.

I had 'period pains' for the last week but that has now stopped so apart from slightly sore nipples, not feeling v preg... So a little worried Sad

Not very clues up on the acronyms either I'm afraid so rather useless mumsnetter! Blush

Maltesers88 · 24/06/2011 10:05

Hey stinky,

Don't worry, I don't seem to have many symptoms either except really sore and heavy boobs. I'm not feeling worried but rather glad as have emetophobia so terrified of getting sick!

Have my first ante-natal appt in 2 weeks but other than that am just carrying on as normal as I can at the moment... :)

Needle · 24/06/2011 10:06

littleboxes sounds like the kind of party I'd give a miss tbh! I'm beginning to think my friends must all just be a bit dim for falling for the antibiotics line!

stinkyminkymoo welcome, and congratulations x

MissRed i'm so sorry, best of luck for the future x

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 24/06/2011 10:15

So sorry missred.

I have migraines and don't drink for days when I've had one so have trotted that line out before. My revelation this time round has been plain ole tonic water. My usual tipple is G&T and if you get them to put ice and lime in it it just looks the same (and tastes not dreadfully dissimilar to a weak pub G&T!).

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 24/06/2011 10:18

BTW I think all of us due on the 20th will need a whole deck to ourselves! Maternity units the country over will be hosting bus members that day!Grin

InnocentRedhead · 24/06/2011 10:38

Morning All, bloody hell moving quick this bus...! Definitely need our own deck for 20th don't we :) I'm 5+6 today and the symptoms are rolling in... Laid in bed last night, after copious vomiting and DP decided to look over and tell me about my boobs. May be TMI but i will tell you all; instead of looking like the usual spaniels ears when laid on my back, they are stuck up like i have had a boob job... If they weren't so sore i would be loving it!!

So sorry to hear that Missred, wishing you the best x

Welcome Stinkymoo, you will pick up the acronyms, if not, look at the top of the page and mumsnet have wrote a list of acronyms, some barely used but you may find it helpful.

We have now got a stats thread guys so any new people, scan dates, updates etc. put them on the stats thread.. Keeps this thread free for inane chatter :D I'm putting on all the new updates now anyway so keep them updated on there :)

Needle · 24/06/2011 10:55

I do that too wicketkeeper, if I ask dh publicly for a g&t, he knows just to get me a t. U guess that would work with any mixer, thinking about it...

There weren't any fish in the tank BTW, I'd been thinking all weel i should ask dh to take it down, but kept forgetting.

CoffeeOne · 24/06/2011 11:04

Sorry about your sad new missred.

I have a midwife appointment on the 8th July. Pretty excited, I've no idea what to expect.

I'm having no sickness which is good but I am worrying a little bit as to why. I do however have very sore boobs and (sorry tmi) have been very constipated! Finding it difficult not to tell the world, 12 weeks seems so far away!
