Hello littleboxes

Puzzle scan date that is exciting!

This is dc4 for me and my last so also trying to enjoy every minute. Ds2 has been very tantrumy today so feeling exhausted.

LittleBoxes · 22/06/2011 13:25

Have now read the thread! Nice to meet you, everyone.

rnbsmum Alcohol-free Becks was one of my major cravings in my first pregnancy! Haven't drunk it since, but may go and grab some in Sainsbury's later...yum.

No symptoms yet for me apart from boobs like (slightly painful) bowling balls and bouts of general dizziness. And grumpiness (especially with DD, which I feel guilty about). And being a bit dim - keep forgetting to do things.

Resisting telling anyone for the time being, though I imagine I'll crack soon, with my mum at least. Lovely to be able to discuss it on here though!

mistressploppy · 22/06/2011 14:05

Yes, LittleBoxes, I think I'd be gibbering at the walls if I didn't have this thread to discuss being pregnant on! Seems ages 'til the ole' 12wk scan.....

currybaby · 22/06/2011 15:45

I haven't been on here for just a couple of days and there is so much to read! Great to have all the new bfp'ers and to hear the stories.

I'm probably too late to get a message to chocolate but it was very sad to read. It something we all worry about all the time and can understand.

I'm still not having many symptoms - and always thinking thats a bad thing! I'm now 8+1 (and counting) and my scan is booked in for 21st July. Mine was on 22nd July too puzzletree but I had to move it. I've got a family christening, a wedding and a one-day festival to get through without anyone knowing before then! I'm actually getting a bit tired of making excuses - i don't think anyone believes me any more.

i've got the mumsnet guide to preganancy and the rest of info i'm getting off the internet - and you lot! - which is enough even though its my first.

i've started making a secret list of names but not going to discuss or do anything else until after the scan...

aj71 · 22/06/2011 16:02

Welcome to all the new people!

I'm feeling intermittently sick. We're all off to London for the weekend. Just hope I don't let anyone down being so tired all the time. I have sourced somewhere in the smoke for waffles for breakfast. Yum!

hermionejgranger · 22/06/2011 17:17

oooh puzzletree that's really exciting :) not long to wait - although no doubt it'll seem like ages. Just saw littleboxes's post and realised i'd not added myself to the list, so here it is (and can we have an extra-wide seat for all of us due on the 20th? we must have had a bank holiday weekend!!! hahaha :D)

thanks for the tip on the alcohol-free booze too, littleboxes - I tried some alcohol free wine from tesco the other day and it tasted like cat wee. not fond and reverting to shloer so i can feel my teeth rotting as I drink it. Oh well - free dental treatment will be put to good use!

Hope everyone's well. I ordered the "pregnancy bible" yesterday on Amazon (followed Louby86's advice after finding ridiculous prices elsewhere) and have been to Waterstones today and bought the "rough guide". That'll keep me going for a while!
xx

phlossie · 22/06/2011 17:19

Hello everyone - blimey what a lot of us there are!

Littleboxes - I have had the same symptoms as you - grumpy as hell, tired, sore boobs and incredibly ditsy (more than normal). I've started to get waves of nausea too - I'm 5+3, I reckon.

I need to stop eating like a pig. I've started off with a BMI of 25.4, and also used the NHS calculator to work out my DCs' centile for weight, and they're a little bit over too. It's up to me to sort it out. If only buckets of potato daupinoise wasn't all I need to calm the sickness. Bah. I'm heading towards becoming a Mummy Mountain again.

babycarmen · 22/06/2011 17:34

waves to all new passengers :) This bus is so big now :)

Today and yesterday i feel so sick, cant really stand up and do much, although walked into town for an appointment this morning (half an hour walk) and actually felt fine while i was out. Still not actually BEEN sick though which im thankful for! Boobs hurt, generally grumpy, crying at EVERYTHING and pretty dizzy, but apart from that.. im fine! Hah :)

Got my next scan on Wednesday (1 week today) so il be 8+1 then and hoping for a little more reassurance then i got with the last scan at 5+6. Also, first midwife appointment on Monday! DP cant make it due to work but he will make it to the scan thank goodness.

Trying to entertain DD1 (who is 3 and a half - born on halloween and has matching personality!) while feeling poopy is proving a challenge!

aj71 · 22/06/2011 17:42

Came home to my scan date. 25 July. I'll be 12+4 then. Ideally need to change it to the week before. Will attempt that tomorrow. I've opted for nuchal fold test, has anyone else?

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 22/06/2011 19:52

Assuming things go ok this time, we're nit going to get a nuchal scan. We did with DD, but there weren't 20 week scans in our neck of the woods then and I was keen to know if things looked high risk as inwpuld have pushed for a 20week scan (or gone privately) then to look for significant associated abnormalities. 20 week scans are now standard at our hospital, so I'm not going to bother paying for a nuchal fold scan as wouldn't have an amnio/CVS or terminate if it was Downs.

madeindevon2 · 22/06/2011 20:36

hello.... can i join? did test today as got big night out tomorrow, really wasnt expecting bfp. not sure why as tired, sore boobs etc! anyway digital thing said pregnant 3+ weeks, i think im 5 weeks 3 days. got doc appointment saturday. will prob refer me to epau due to mc and ectopic history. i already have one ds aged 4. was really crap at work today....really unlike me, faffed... hestitated, cocked up basically on a trade. (im a broker) managed to resolve it but i need to focus...just feel but dizzy. i work full time quite long hours and spend as much time outside work with ds so now im worrying about being able to give 2 children enough attention they need? anyway. its early days yet. i got 6 weeks of scans and worry to get thru first...

mistressploppy · 22/06/2011 20:50

Hi Devon, I wondered if you'd find us! Glad you're here Smile

madeindevon2 · 22/06/2011 20:55

will be checking back often! need some sleep now tho while i can as have this night out tomorrow after work. big leaving do for a some colleagues and i have to go really (no excuses really.) just will be "parking" all my drinks and hoping noone realises when i sneak off early....

QueenFee · 22/06/2011 23:31

Hello made :)

For those of you who like facts and figures I have (sad I know I was bored) just worked out I am 15% of the way through this pregnancy!

PamBeesly · 22/06/2011 23:45

QueenFee yeah thats great!

louby86 · 23/06/2011 07:39

Just had to call in sick for a meeting today Blush I can't keep anything down this morning. I thought yesterday was as bad as it got but it looks like I was being broken in gently! Must get some ginger biscuits to see if they actually work! Anyone else got any good tips?

puzzletree · 23/06/2011 07:43

Morning all, nice to see new people and that others are getting scan dates too :)

aj71 I think I already mentioned that we've decided not to have the nuchal measurement or associated blood tests, we haven't had those tests with the others either. It's a difficult decision but we wouldn't terminate for Downs, and don't like the idea of getting a 'risk' as a result, would rather avoid CVS (which you need to confirm genetic abnormalities) unless there are major problems indicated on the general scan.

madeindevon2 I found the second pregnancy (when working PT and having a toddler to look after) tough, actually having two children worked out fine though, try not to worry about it too much and good luck getting through it!

Needle · 23/06/2011 08:09

lobby try the Boots Shapers ginger beer. It doesnt taste great, but it's not sickly the way the Jamaican one is.

Still feel flu-y and knackered with a stiff neck, but going to drag my arse to the swimming pool and let dd have her morning in the creche, since she seems to like it so much and I desperately need the exercise!

Does anyone have any recommendations for pregnancy workout dvds?

Emz33 · 23/06/2011 08:20

Hi all, can I join too?! I'm 4+6 at the mo, due 24 Feb. First baby so really excited and nervous about this whole experience!
did nothing at work yesterday - couldn't concentrate at all. wanted to go in early today to try and catch up but woke up feeling really rough - sore throat, cough and a bit of a chest infection i think so am heading down to the doctor at 9am (only confirmed my pg with him on tuesday - he's going to think i'm a right hypocondriac!).

am going away on saturday for 10 days so want to get the infection under control. am really prone to chest infections so kind of know what i have to do.

really just can't wait to get to 12 weeks (fingers crossed). am so scared of having a mc. 3 of my friends recently had one...

louby86 · 23/06/2011 08:21

I'll give that a go then needle thanks. I've seen a lot of people on other threads talk about davina's pregnancy workout DVD, i think it's split up into pre and post pregnancy too but I've not seen it myself

ReadyforRound2 · 23/06/2011 08:49

I bought Davina's pregnancy exercise DVD just before my MC last time. It seemed ok but this time I'm too terrified to try any exercise before I get to 12 weeks. I really feel like I could do with it though as it helps me feel relaxed and happy. Also I'm horrified at my appetite at the moment - I look 4 months already!
I haven't been on here for a week and was so amazed at all the new posts, AND so saddened by the losses :( - thoughts go out to you xxxxx

My hospital preg test came back positive at last so the nurse made a docs appt this morning for me but judging by all your posts its a waste of time and should just look forward to my booking in with the midwife.

To all of you who have have a child already, did you notice different symptoms depending on the sex of the baby? We didn't find out the sex of our DS till he was born but I loved guessing, I was so certain I was having a boy. I felt continuous nausea for exactly 12 weeks with him and craved salty things throughout. This time the nausea is not continuous but more extreme when I do feel it and I am really craving sweet things - maybe a girl this time? I know there's no scientifically proven theories behind this but its great fun guessing I reckon! Having said all that, after the MC and waiting 8 months to conceive again I am entirely grateful to be pregnant and a child of either sex would be a total blessing! :o

LittleBoxes · 23/06/2011 08:53

Morning all! I've just had a bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast, partly to ward off dizziness but actually because of complete greediness. Have been dieting since last September (have lost three stone, which I think has helped me conceive) so am now using pregnancy as an excuse to get back to my piggy ways. NOT good. And it's given me heartburn.

Hermione I love the Rough Guide to Pregnancy - it's the most comforting pregnancy book ever! Annoyingly I've lent my copy to my SIL so I've now bought the rather more po-faced What To Expect, just because I didn't have it last time and found the First Year and Toddler ones very useful. I also like The Best Friends' Guide to Pregnancy - it's also American but hasn't had much Anglicisation like What to Expect has, so all the talk of hospitals is a bit alien, but it's still v. comforting and friendly, which is what you want really from a pregnancy book, especially the first time round!

louby ginger biscuits (the cheapest ones) were the only thing that had any effect for me. I tried travel sickness wrist bands too, but I honestly can't remember whether they worked or not! Will try ginger beer too, but I don't fancy it at the mo. Which is odd, because I'm normally a fizzy drink fiend.

Had enormous tearful meltdown last night - 'it's all so stressful!' etc etc, but feeling a bit more positive this morning. What will be will be, etc.

rnbsmum · 23/06/2011 09:18

ReadyforRound2 my pregnancies were identical so assumed all the way through that I was having a second DD when carrying DS! Only difference was DD was 3 weeks early and DS was late.

When I was pregnant with DD 8 years ago we were only offered a 20 week scan in Dorset but 3 years later with DS everyone was offered a 12 week scan. Having found out about a MM at a 12 week scan in between DD and DS having the 12wk scan feels like a bit of a milestone so will definitely have it, though not because of the nt bit if you see what I mean!

Can't remember who asked but this is definitely our last (and a surprise addition at that!) and it does feel like a real gift so want to enjoy it all - growing a baby in your tummy, it's amazing really isn't it, quite bonkers!! Not always easy to feel joyous when feeling like you have the mother of all hangovers whilst not touching alcohol though! Grin anyone for a schloer.....

spiderspider · 23/06/2011 09:40

Morning Ladies - another newbie here. I realise room's tight on the bus, but I'm happy to drive - looks like the only seat left!

I've added myself to the list - will be DC2 and not sure of due date due to unreliable cycles - I've plumped for Feb 16th.

So excited and anxious. Finding it impossible to concentrate at work! Finally plucked up courage to call the midwives - and post on here! - so it must be real now...

Has anyone already been googling daydreaming about prams, cots, slings, washable nappies, stretch mark oils, maternity/nursing bras...!

ReadyforRound2 I felt worse on my second pregnancy, craved different things, but carried the same. Have got two boys. This pregnancy so far I have been much more bloated from the start, but haven't felt as sick. Then again I'm a SAHM this time so I think that's probably helping (I used to have to spend 3 hours a day on public transport when I worked, not good when pregnant!). I was on a pregnancy board with DS2 and we did a pretty scientific study where we all submitted answers based on the old wives tales, chinese calendar etc before we knew what sex we were having. Will dig it out, I think there were some things that seemed to be associated with boys...
