Ante-natal care seems to vary greatly between areas. I call on Thursday to book my 12 week scan and already had my booking appt (I'm 5+3). I think you just need to press on at them because you are meant to have your booking appt before your first scan..

Thanks for info on TENs it is definately something i will look at. I am more and more coming around to the idea of a home birth too, so definately something that needs looking at.

Had my first outburst of emotion today... I was cooking tea and absolutely burst into tears! Then I told my mum :D

YellowSparkle · 21/06/2011 19:51

Hi everyone! Im due around 20th Feb ...was lurking so hope its ok to join in Smile now ive got over the shock of being pg! This will be DC3 and im having loads of sympyoms!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 21/06/2011 19:56

Middledaughter - I'm exactly the same. My symptoms seem to have disappeared in the last couple of days and I'm really worried, as it feels very like when I miscarried in Feb. Sad

In terms of books, I would heartily recommend Your Pregnancy Bible. I really loved reading each section/looking at the photos each week when i was pregnant with DD. I've discovered a couple of great apps this time. Sprout has beautiful pics with info/advice each week, and some of the pics are 3D animated. The other one is BabyBump. It's not quite as pretty as Sprout, but as someone else said, it's nice to have something to read every day rather than just weekly.

Needle · 21/06/2011 21:02

Dd refuses to go to sleep. I can hear her bouncing in her cot over the baby monitor. She's being a monkey at the moment.

Not sure if its anything to do with being pg, but I feel ROTTEN today, all sinus-y and gland-y . Want to curl up on a sofa with an enormous duvet and a cup of tea, except that we haven't got a sofa. Grumble grumble.

innocent we were trying in earnest for about 2 months this time- I only stopped breastfeeding when dd was 9m old, so couldn't really get pg before. When I conceived dd, dh and I had only been together for 3 months- what with that and the 14 year age gap between us, you can imagine how much fun it was explaining that one to my dad!

Needle · 21/06/2011 21:07

Btw, you can't get Sprout for Android, but I second the recommendation for the baby centre ap. It also has a really good baby name finder.

SnoozingCyborg · 21/06/2011 21:29

Bus is getting pretty full, but here I am, running and waving at the side-mirror... POAS x 2 over the weekend and looks like I'm due Feb 17. First time pregnancy, have no idea what to expect, mostly terrified and completely ignorant. Never pictured myself as a mum, completely unmaternal, but I guess my body clock told me what time it is. Glad that Mumsnet is around to fill in the gaps...

hermionejgranger · 21/06/2011 21:38

hey cyborg - i'm glad it's not just me that's feeling terrified and ignorant! not sure about you but i'm not really believing it's real just yet, but part of me is constantly worried things are going to go wrong. nice to have all these other peeps to keep us going though! :)

hermionejgranger · 21/06/2011 21:43

hello yellowsparkle i'm not getting much in the way of symptoms at all - have had some cramps in the tum and am feeling tired but have had very little sleep the last week or so - insomnia like you wouldn't believe - so that could explain that! felt sick one night but otherwise nothing really. none of the strange taste or heightened sense of smell others have described. had really sore boobs (tmi?? sorry...!) for about a week but they seem to have improved too. bit worrying as it's my first and i don't really know what to expect!

InnocentRedhead · 21/06/2011 21:53

Hello YellowSparkle, same day as me :) There is definitely still room, triple decker is this bus!

We have being trying since November last year, it has being hard, and I was obsessing over my cycles etc. at first! Then i calmed down, stopped following my cycle and I had to do some real good thinking at the doctors as to the first day of my last period!!

And i feel exactly as you do Needle, all i want to do is curl up and do nothing else but be PG and feel sorry for my symptoms! But with everything going on, I'm finding it hard! Luckily had a day off, started new job yesterday, not back on rota until Thursday. And i can imagine Needle, not the best reaction i am sure lol!

Whats Sprout?

Needle · 21/06/2011 22:11

Dd still awake, but screaming now instead of bouncing. As she's still in our room I can't go to bed until she settles.

Urgh, this is getting really weird, now my ears are hurting, and some mild nausea to go with the rest.

Hi SnoozingCyborg welcome to the bus.

Sprout is a pregnancy app for I phone. My friend who gave birth this weekend had it and it was lovely, but the babycentre one is great for android.

louby86 · 21/06/2011 22:25

Welcome to all the new people, it's getting hard to keep up with this thread but it's nice to have a full bus Grin !!!

I've just bought 'your pregnancy bible' off amazon after walking out of whsmith in disgust that they were charging £25 for it!

Starting to wonder when I might get morning sickness, when did everyone that has it start getting it? I'm 5+5 and my only symptoms are that I'm stupidly tired and my boobs are really really sore!

Needle · 21/06/2011 22:43

The book says usually between 5-7 weeks I think louby. I didn't get any at all last time, but gained 3st. This time I'd happily take a few weeks of bring ill for a smaller overall gain, When you consider that of that 3st, only 7lb8 was baby!

I should never have downloaded the Amazon app to my phone- it makes sneaky shopping sooo quick!

louby86 · 21/06/2011 23:13

It was the amazon app that got me needle ,I'm a sucker for a bit of sneaky shopping!

My sister in law put 3 stone on when she was pregnant with her second after behaving this time! Her first pregnancy started with her being a size 10 and ending as a size 22! It's made me extra-conscious about what I'm eating now! I'm doing my very best to eat as healthy as possible with the occasional treat to get me through the day!

puzzletree · 22/06/2011 08:00

Morning all! I'm 8 weeks today and feeling pretty ok. I seem to get an afternoon exhausted and green feeling but so far this pregnancy hasn't affected me much (like a lot of you I'm hoping this isn't a bad sign).

Hi to all the new people, we are getting busy! There seems to be a good mix of first timers and those who've done this before. I'm surprised there are so many on DC3. Is this going to be the last baby for anyone else?? I'm determined to enjoy everything about this pregnancy as it'll be my last. If anything goes wrong I doubt we would try again, so I'll be very anxious at the scan.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 22/06/2011 09:01

I'm just hoping that if things are ok with my wee bean that it's better than last time. I started throwing up the day I turned 6 weeks and the last time was the day before DD was born. It took until 20 weeks to gain ANY weight and believe me it was NOT worth it!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 22/06/2011 09:02

And puzzletree, if this works out ok (it's DC2), yes this will be our last.

m1nn1em0u5e · 22/06/2011 09:04

DC3 is definitely the last for us!..I have also said if things dont work out I dont think I could try again....

OP posts:
Needle · 22/06/2011 09:37

We want 6, this is DC2. Ask me again in a year though and that might have been revised!

louby86 · 22/06/2011 11:12

Just had my first day of being sick all morning (sorry tmi), hoping it won't carry on all day as I've got a meeting all day tomorrow I may have to need an excuse for! I keep telling myself it's a good thing!

Hope everyone's having a good day x

LittleBoxes · 22/06/2011 11:13

Hello, can I join please? Due 23 Feb 2012 (according to the doctor: 19 Feb if I use MN's far better due date calculator that actually takes into account my cycle length).

Got BFP this morning and immediately rushed to Waterstones to buy What To Expect When You're Expecting (didn't have that last time, and I've lent all my old pregnancy books to my also-pregnant SIL), plus The Mumsnet Rules (natch) and the Caitlin Moran book (treat). Oh, and popped in at the docs to book myself in as well. Am supposed to be working from home - hey ho.

Have been on MN since early 2007 (used to be called something else, and am much more of a lurker these days - ever since I discovered Twitter really!)

Am 39, have a nearly 5-year-old DD, and been trying for YONKS to get pregnant again (was easy-peasy first time round). Had a miscarriage before DD, and bled intermittently throughout the first trimester with DD, so am a bit jittery, truth be known. But hey, one day at a time...

Right, now I've said hello I'll actually go ahead and read the thread!

Hello! Congrats to you all ! I Am expecting baby no. 3 on the 3rd feb - have 2 ds of 5 and 3. Had early scan today and have seen and heart beat so exciting. Look forward to comparing notes with you all.

puzzletree · 22/06/2011 12:47

Ooh ooh excited to bursting and have to tell someone :) just got my scan date through the post, 22nd July! Will be 12+2 according to my dates. At least there's something to count down the days to now...

louby86 · 22/06/2011 13:00

puzzletree how exciting! Not that long to wait either! Hopefully mine will come through for a couple of weeks after yours! You'll just need to be extra busy to make the countdown go faster now Grin
