Needle · 15/06/2011 05:51

Hi ladies, can I join? Just found out that dc2 is due 20th Feb. I havent told dh yet and am toying with keeping it secret till his birthday next week.

harrietlichman · 15/06/2011 06:56

Hi needle! congratulations! Lovely idea to keep your news secret - do you think you will be able to? I would be bursting!

Yes, bill - BIG Raymond fan! Infact, have been dreaming of baby names and have hit on Francis for a ds, which my husband thinks is a tribute to Frank...! (it's not, I'm not that bad, honest!)

How is everyone today?

puzzletree · 15/06/2011 07:46

Morning all! Big congratulations to all the new BFPs and to runaround for a good scan.

Needle good luck keeping the secret, that'd be a lovely birthday present for DP. It's also fathers day on sunday isn't it, best get the boys to make a card.

harriet aargh names, I'm already worried that we'll struggle with names for this one, especially if it's a boy, DP is so non-committal and never likes my suggestions! Francis is lovely though.

aj71 · 15/06/2011 07:54

Morning all!

I, too, need my highlights doing but will wait until week 12. My hair will at least be great for our holiday!

Still feel fine apart from being tired. I'm hoping with my history, I'll get an early scan. If not, and I keep feeling fine, it'll seem a very long time to week 12!!

My 11 year old dd doesn't know I'm pregnant but started playing a game thinking of initials with dp's surname that spell naughty words. She's charming. I have asked what she thinks of having a sibling in general terms. Seems all will be fine unless it's a boy!! I didn't find out with her what I was having. Considering it this time to help get her used to the idea. Did any of you with large age gaps find out and tell your dcs in advance? I personally loved the surprise last time but perhaps it'd be selfish to not give her time to adjust.

BillComptonstrousers · 15/06/2011 09:29

Hi AJ, I just told my 11 year old yesterday and she had a total meltdown Sad I asked ages ago if she would like a sibling and she thought that would be 'cool'

Obviously the reality is different, she kept saying she didn't want the baby and could we not keep it?? Sorry, she sounds like a right brat, but she really isn't, I think it was just the shock.

She perked up when I asked her about names, but I know she is still really upset.

louby86 · 15/06/2011 09:45

Hi aj71 my niece was 7 when she found out my sister was having another baby and she was adamant that she didn't want to have a sister because she didn't want to share her things with her! She's not selfish at all, I suppose it's just funny how their minds work when they're given such big news! Anyway, sis found out sex of baby and told my niece and she couldn't have been happier, it made her want to get involved in the preparation of having a new baby at home and she got to a point where she even wanted to use her own pocket money to buy things for her unborn baby brother. I know it takes the surprise away for you but I think in some cases it can really help the little brothers and sisters!

LankyLegs · 15/06/2011 09:47

Congratulations of everyone with recent BFPs! Hope its starting to settle in!

Great news on the scan too runaround so pleased for you. Am very tempted to have one too but holding off.

Can I ask any of your experienced folk a question since this is no 1 for me? I am starting to feel very queasy and green but no puking yet. Did anyone have the same and it didn't turn into full blown boaking?

Needle lovely idea keeping your news secret as a surprise for your DH. I'm sure he will love that.

I ordered 'pregnancy for men' off amazon the other day and DH is really enjoying reading it (wierdly) I think its actually written in quite an amusing fashion and wierldly even I prefer it to the books my sister has given me on pregnancy!

I had the most graphic awful dream last night of having a full blown miscarriage so much so that I woke up crying thinking it had happened!what a load of feck! These dreams are really starting to piss me off!

gonerogue · 15/06/2011 10:29

OMG Lankylegs I had a dream last night about having a miscarriage - it was far too graphic and I woke up in a panic too. I thought I would be the only one. It's quite unnerving isn't it?

Re the nausea/queasiness but no sickness - I had that last time with DD and looks like it's coming on here now as well. I had it for 16 weeks and lost a stone and a half because I had no appetite - or if I wanted something I would eat a few bites and then feel like being sick but never vomited ever.

DH was great, he would cook me several different dishes (I couldn't stand the smell of cooking at all ) and if I didn't eat them he'd just finish it off. He put on a stone in my first trimester. Grin

Needle that's such a good idea about keeping it secret - I would never last. Plus DH would know by the nausea/tiredness/wolverine sense of smell that something was up.

Hi to the new people - we are filling up aren't we? It's going to be a long old journey so suppose we better settle in for the ride. Grin Don't let anyone tell you "Oh it'll fly in" - for me it didn't especially the last trimester. Luckily I had my MN ladies to pass the time with.

Bill I was like that with DD1 - I kept looking for these monthly buses in Pregnancy and couldn't figure out where they were. Grin So easy when you know where to look isn't it?

DH and I are planning on having 3 DC altogether - depending on how this one goes Grin and we already have our names picked out. All Irish names so hopefully we'll have

Right housework awaits - hope you are all feeling as well as you can - Minnie how are you?
I can't wait for the 12 week scan results to come in and then we'll know if people are having one or more Grin

OddEyes · 15/06/2011 10:35

Hello, have been watching thread for a while as can't quite believe we are pregnant.
This is a surprise dc3. Ds1 is 4, dd1 is 2.
Bit concerned wasn't taking folic acid until bfp.
Worse timing couldn't be possible. Starting back a new job in Sept and won't even get mat pay or mat all. Argh!
Going to be a squash and a squeeze as in no position to move!

OddEyes · 15/06/2011 10:43

Can't seem to copy list on my iPhone. Would some one please add me to the list.
Oddeyes: 32, DC3, EDD:16th Feb

Needle · 15/06/2011 11:08

Hmmm. Well, the plan to keep it secret lasted until i asked that my tea be decaff this morning. He knows I would never drink it otherwise. He's absolutely thrilled though.

Anyway, bit of background: i'm 25, one dd who's 10 months old, my dh is 39 and a writer/ director. We live in London and dc2 is due on 20th Feb, which also happens to be my wedding anniversary. Just got the bfp this morning and very, very chuffed as we've been trying for s couple of months.

BillComptonstrousers · 15/06/2011 11:42

Good lord I am bored at work this morning!
So far I have:

Chosen a short list of names
Picked out a buggy
Did another test to make sure I really am pregnant Smile
Checked exactly how many weeks/days I am pregnant

So not a very productive morning workwise!

Is everybody having vivid dreams? I seem to remember having them with the last two, but the last couple if nights have been filthy Ones! Blush

miamama09 · 15/06/2011 11:59

Hello everyone,
Just thought I'd also add myself to the list.
I'm just over 5 weeks now, due Feb 14th and very nervous but so excited. We've been TTC for 8 months after a MC - but I'm having good vibes about this one so fingers crossed!
Started having nausea and swollen, sore breasts at 4 weeks this time, which at least is reassuring me. I'm also feeling very thirsty and light-headed which I don't remember feeling before.
As if the 2ww isn't long enough, how am I going to hold it together till week 12??

Lanky yes I mostly feel green but dont actually be sick. It comes as a relief sometimes to be sick

As for telling kids I have been thinking about this. I have told a few close friends but dont know when to tell the older dcs. They will be 7 and 5. I dont want them to heat from someone else but I dont want them to tell everyone either.

I am having a very hormonal morning. I was all stroppy with everyone this morning.I came home and apologised to dh then promptly burst into tears!

BillComptonstrousers · 15/06/2011 12:53

Better add myself to the list too!

Lankylegs, the only time I've actually vomited when pregnant was when I was in labour with DS2! Had forced myself to eat something for sustenance but my body obviously had other ideas. I just feel nauseated for the first 3/4 months, hoping for the same this time.

LolaRennt · 15/06/2011 13:12

Ha gonerogue am I so obvious? :)

I am in Florida (and American), just moved back here from the UK with dd1 and DH.

Worried about having doctors telling me what to do etc, as I liked the midwife led pregnancy and labour I had in the uk!

aj71 · 15/06/2011 14:16

BillComptonstrousers

I have told two friends who live far away! I feel they're the safe options right now. I'm not telling anyone till I've had a scan and know things are ok (at least for now). I needed to tell someone so told far away friends! It's good to have them to talk to about it though.

I'm shattered. Literally. At my desk and don't want to be. Could use a nap. I've got an uber busy weekend including meeting DP's parents for the first time. How is this possible, you ask? They live abroad and are back on Saturday. Eeeeek! We're not telling them about the baby either.

harrietlichman · 15/06/2011 14:51

Hi all - this thread is a god send! I too have had m/c dreams - it is just such a relief to wake up and find it hasn't actually happened! I was feeling really pleased with myself for my lack of pregnancy symptoms (apart from the beach ball boobs) until I came back from shopping today and ate a packet of jaffa cakes and then burst into tears when 'he aint heavy' came on the radio. And to think I got the hump with dh yesterday when he said he thought I was a bit hormonal!!
Haven't told anyone yet, and we will definately find out what we are having - we did with our last two (no good at surprises!)

Yikes aj that's a bit scary! good luck with that Smile

I've had to tell a few people because
a) I don't want to be lifting anything heavy at work, what a wuss!

b) after having the other 2 my stomach muscles are shot so I look about 3 months gone already

c) I can't keep my mouth shut!

2 patients today have already asked me if I have any news in a nudge/nudge wink/wink kind of way, bloody nora after this baby I swears it's my last and I'm going to work out till I have abs of steel!

puzzletree · 15/06/2011 15:19

I've only told my best pregnancy buddy, she's a friend I used to work with. This is the first time I've got pregnant without her being pregnant first, she seemed a bit confused :) Oh, and another mum friend who had just confessed to me she was pregnant, the one expecting twins. And a few online friends, and you lot of course!
I think we'll let people know after a good scan. Though I might end up telling a few friends beforehand, and possibly my mum if I see her before then. I guess we'll need a babysitter for the scan anyway so that person will need to know.

Xavielli · 15/06/2011 15:40

Lankylegs with all of mine I have felt rough for the first 3 months but have never been sick. Also, don't be surprised if at some time between 9 - 11 weeks if you actually feel ok for a few days, it's quite common

Twittwooo · 15/06/2011 17:23

Hi there, sad news from me I'm afraid. I won't be with you ladies on this board any more. Could my name be taken off the list please? Good luck with all your pregnancies, I wish you all the very best. xx
