Twittwooo · 13/06/2011 13:49

Hi everyone,

Still a definite lack of symptoms here - so much so that I just did another test and it's definitely positive, so that's put my mind at rest a little.

I'm very thirsty and tired and do feel slightly queasy when hungry so perhaps they are about to appear!

I have my midwife appointment in 3 and a half weeks and by then it won't be too long until the 12 week scan and I can stop lying to everyone!!

LolaRennt · 13/06/2011 13:49

Is anyone having their second and feeling a bit nervous about it? I love dd1 so much, she is just beyond amazing. A part of me feels like dc 2 will have a lot to "compete" with and I might not be as naturally taken with him/her.

Tell me I am being ridiculous please.

mistressploppy · 13/06/2011 13:50

Lola - I feel JUST like that. DS is so cute and wonderful, I do worry that I won't feel as strongly about Squidbaby (DC@)

I know this won't happen though, in my rational mind Grin

mistressploppy · 13/06/2011 13:51

Sorry, DC2 rather

AlpinePony · 13/06/2011 13:52

Lola - I've been worrying that number 1 will grow up feeling he "wasn't good enough". :(

LolaRennt · 13/06/2011 13:59

Og good we're all being ridiculous. I can blame it on the hormones then!

harrietlichman · 13/06/2011 14:23

I felt like that when I had ds2 - worried that he wouldn't match the wonder that was number 1, and also worried that I might be ruining our perfectly good family by changing the dynamic with another baby - and of course we adore ds2 just as much as ds1 - he is a different character but no less wonderful, and within a minute of him being here we couldn't imagine life without him. Now, I am worrying about adding another one to the mix, so I guess it is all down to hormones!

QueenFee · 13/06/2011 14:31

lola
This is my 4th you love them all equally but differently.
My 3 love each others company (well most of the time)
As for not good enough you tell them they were so wonderfull it made you want more!

phlossie · 13/06/2011 14:32

Oh gosh Lola I totally felt like that about DC2! But although her birth wasn't as emotional (too quick!) as DS's, I fell in love with her the second I saw her (so squidgy and cross and a little bit purple) in a way I didn't first time. She's a very different person to my PFB - and he is my PFB! But you do this kind of multiplying of love so no one child gets more or less than the other.

harriet I'm worried about adding a third too. My two have a great relationship, so a bit nervous about what will happen to the balance. And about being 'Outnumbered'.

harrietlichman · 13/06/2011 15:50

How old are yours phlossie? Mine will be 7 and 4 when dc3 comes along - I have been sounding them out for some time along the lines of 'would you like another brother or sister?' and they were both adamant that they woudl be happy to have a sister! (I am convinced I will have a ds)
Saw my gp today so have officially told someone about it - she told me not to run anymore Sad and to make my mw appointment when I am 10 weeks. And so the waiting begins....

Moofins · 13/06/2011 16:03

Hi all & welcome to new people.

Wow - thread has come along since I last posted - are we at 12 weeks yet? yaawnnnn......

Am knackered today and got the bus to the station as my legs didnt want to work so decided against the usual 20 min walk! Took the bus 30 mins to get to the station though so missed my train!

My lovely DH went and bought 6 bottles of my fav wine at the weekend.....hmmmm charming! But I guess it means when I do fancy some wine its the good stuff! Thats if he doesnt drink it all first!

Lola - am with you on the DC2. DS is PFB so good and everyone (oh OK maybe just grandma) comments on how gorgeous and well behaved he is (......mind you they dont have to spend a rainy sunday indoors all day with him!). So am also worried about no.2 and DS feeling left out!

Will be sticking at 2 though - cant imagine 3......!

Tic Tacs seem to be my thing this pregnancy - last time it was no added sugar Ribenna - was convinced DS would come out purple!

Called the midwives today and they pretty much laughed at me and told me to wait another few weeks and someone would get in touch! In my defence the website did tell me to call them if I hadnt heard from them in 10 days!

miamama09 · 13/06/2011 16:23

Totally feel the same, DD1 is the most amazing little person, we are best friends so I worry about another one coming along, and having to take some of the bond I have with DD1 away to give to the new arrival! How silly!
I know she will love a little bro or sis though, so realise it's just my silly mummy head being irrational!
First apt with midwife tomorrow, excuses to give to work planned, hope I get a nice MW and glad to get the ball rolling. One step closer to the 12 wk scan, every day is a day closer, keep saying it over and over!!

puzzletree · 13/06/2011 16:38

Haha, maybe I'm the only one that had no qualms whatsoever about having DC2. We always knew we wanted more than one, and DS1 is so sociable he'd be hard work as an only child. He was also a very chatty and reasonable toddler (nightmare baby mind!) so when DS2 arrived he wasn't jealous at all, and was perfectly happy for me to breastfeed etc as long as I chatted and played with him. The boys are such great friends, I love the interaction and close bond they have :) Basically the pros of having 2 massively outweigh the cons and we were certain of that from the start.

Having DS3 on the other hand may rock the boat a bit. DS2 is such a mummy's boy and I'm not sure he'd like to relinquish his place as baby of the family. I'm hoping that as he'll be 3.5 by then he might be more understanding, perhaps. Also hope that the baby doesn't feel left out as the boys are such a team of two already.

harrietlichman · 13/06/2011 17:05

my ds2 is also very much a mummy's boy and I have my worries that he might be abit put out by being ousted as baby..but - kids are so adaptable and families just adapt, and before you know it you can't remember it being any other way.

babycarmen · 13/06/2011 18:16

So im due on 7th Feb. I got a scan today which showed i am 5 weeks 6 days but i have to get another one in 2 weeks which will be more accurate. Im extremely dizzy 24/7 its a nightmare.

Also agree with the above with feelings about having another child after DD1. Very nervous for probably no reason!

harriet mine are a similar age to yours - they'll be 6 and 4 1/2. In fact DC3 is due a couple of days after DC1's birthday. Are yours both girls? I have one each. Like you, I have sounded them out, and guess what? DS wants a brother and DD wants a sister! One of them will be put out (unless I have twins - horror).

All you worrying about DC2s - don't! They're lush. Mine is very cuddly and affectionate (she's nearly 4), and DC1 is starting to get all independent. You'll have a different relationship with each of them.

Xavielli · 13/06/2011 18:47

I felt terribly guilty when I found out I was expecting dc2 as ds1 was only 6 months old! Not at all anymore, they are so so close. When we decided ds2 would be the last I felt bad for him that he would never be as close to them as they are to each other. So this baby will be the same age difference as between ds1 and DD so hope they will be as close. I know it's cliche but babies do bring their own love with them, they are all so different but wonderfully so!

Phoned my doctor today to arrange a repeat prescription and to ask if it was still safe to take them when pg, she the said we might swell start the ball rolling with my ante natal care! So she is sorting out my notes for me to pick up tomorrow and is arranging a booking appointment with the midwife and a nuchal scan. That's one less thing for me to worry about!

woowa · 13/06/2011 18:49

Can't believe how many posts since i last looked! Think we need to be on here all the time to keep up properly. Symptom free here too, desperate for scan at 9 weeks, will hopefully book tomorrow. yay. Just love some visula confirmation. WHat did people do before scans?? They weren't around when I was an embryo!

My ds1 is a real mummys boy but at 3 coped fine with dc3.
Actually dc3 has been a doddle such an easy child and because you already have routines in place then they just fit in.
My 2 adore having someone who they can boss around and be the baby in their mummy and daddy games.
One of the big differences I noticed with no2 was how much less they needed entertaining. Ds2 would sit for ages in his bumbo just watching the kids in action.
I did have a bit of jealousy from ds1 but I solved it by carrying ds2 in a sling leaving my hands free to deal with the other 2

hannahkj19 · 13/06/2011 20:06

1st february or 31st jan so i'll stay here if that's okay with everyone xxx

gonerogue · 13/06/2011 20:37

HI Everyone - and congrats to the new people Grin

I've had the weekend off t'internet so just catching up now.

minnie Sad to hear your HG is rearing it's head. I secondteh squidgy baby at teh end to keep you going.

I am absolutely knackered today - I think DD has gotten really clingy in the last week - maybe she can sense that I'll be deserting her from next week so she has not gien me a minutes peace.

DH has gone out walking the biggest dog because I haven't go thte strength for her anymore and i'm cooking his dinner having put DD to bed.

Methinks bed is beckoning very early.

Hope everyone is ok.
