Afternoon all,

Great news MrsA! Loving all the positive scans!

Just here to distract myself... started clock watching about 10mins ago, sooo glad I'm at the booking in day, feels like such an achievement but so nervous... I don't know why though, its not like its a scary exam I'll pass or fail!
Think its because I've only ever got to booking in when pregnant with DS, the others didn't get that far. So it really is an achievement.

Argh, my friend who is taking DS to the park (across the road from my surgery) while I have app just text me to say she's just having a quick shower... we've got to leave in 20mins!!
Sometimes I think people forget what a flapper I am when it comes to appointment times! Grin

.................... does anyone else get nervous poos....? Blush

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 20/04/2011 14:25

wuzz that's DP all over (the nervous poos i mean Grin) He was on the loo for 20mins before we left for the scan!

cep · 20/04/2011 14:26

good luck for those giving blood. and for those scanners today.

mrsa so please it all went well.

littlefirsttimer hope it went well today.

WuzzAndBuddy · 20/04/2011 14:28

MrsA, that made me giggle! I'm sure DP will be ecstatic that you just shared that..... Grin

KnitterInTheNW · 20/04/2011 17:58

Had my early scan this morning, and cried when we saw a heartbeat! It was at this one last time that we found no heartbeat, so I've been so worried and nervous. Bean measuring 9+1, which is a couple of days younger than I thought. I'm so relieved and happy!

MooseyMoo · 20/04/2011 18:23

Ah brilliant news Knitter and MrsA. So pleased to hear positive scans Smile

Nausea is back - woo hoo Smile. Pregnancy really does mess with your head!!

chipmonkey · 20/04/2011 18:29

Yay, Knitter! Fx November 11 is as successful for us as April 08!Grin

Katiebeau · 20/04/2011 18:49

Great news MrsA and Knitter. I glad all is good.

Indeed MooseyMoo when else would we be glad to feel sick!!!

My NT scan report is dating me to 31st October although Bobblehat was a little bigger than average.

Told lots of people now. Made it feel real. Started to feel properly excited rather than just anxious now.

I'm loving this weather as is DD. Nursery gave them ice pops today and she came home filthy from playing out and messing in the raised veg garden and sand pit. Great to see.

MrsA and Knitter yay for the good scans and healthy beans!

Wuz hope your booking in went well today. I had mine today too, rather uneventful apart from being jabbed in both arms as she struggled to take my blood!

Good look to any scanners tomorrow. I made an appointment for a private scan in 2 weeks. I'll be 10+5 by then. Close to my expected 12 week scan I know but I need the reassurance. Hoping to put my dating scan back a few weeks.

Having a few cramps tonight. I know they are normal, so why is it so hard to believe that??? Aghhh!!!

Bluetinkerbell · 20/04/2011 22:27

Having my scan tomorrow, can't find my appointment letter anywhere, can remember vaguely it said I needed to bring it with me, but surely my notes will be enough no?

TerrysNo2 · 20/04/2011 22:38

Any news from Dirge or littlefirsttimer?!?!

Got my nuchal scan at 8.30 tomorrow morning. Getting scared now

smilingcl · 20/04/2011 22:39

I forgot my appt letter green form thing and I had to wait for a midwife to come up from somewhere else in the hospital to take all my details again. She didn't seem very impressed and it took longer but they still did the scan!

Bluetinkerbell · 20/04/2011 22:48

I've got my green notes, just not the letter with the actual time of the appointment.
I know it is at 11.40am. Will have another rumble through a pile of papers in the office later.

Good luck tomorrow Terry
I'm having the nuchal scan as well, not because I want to know the risk factors, just need to know if my baby has grown and still has a heartbeat. Been having spotting/bleeding since 9 weeks... Will be exactly 12 tomorrow.

smilingcl · 20/04/2011 23:25

Oh, you'll be fine then, they'll have you in the puter.

goldmaple · 20/04/2011 23:51

Great to hear about all the good scans!

wuzz I'm with you on the nervous poos Blush gotta love MN and what it lets you say

collie I was having cramps as well and someone mentioned that it can be due to dehydration. After drinking tons of water they have stopped (but lasted from 9+2 to 10 so dunno if it helped) but it can be your uterus and ligaments stretching too. But I know it is worrying.

terry good luck for the scan, sure it will be fine but FX anyways:)

blue thats exactly why I'm having the scan. Seemed too long to go from week 8 to 18 without a scan. Just want to see the bean. Last time he/she looked like a blob. Would love to see an arm or leg or something...

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 21/04/2011 06:41

Good luck everyone having a scan today, still have to wait until next Wednesday, hopefully everything will go well between now and then for everyone.

collie, I've been having some ligament stretching over the last couple of days, had stopped for a couple of weeks but have started again, they are very odd, like stretchy feelings right down the inside of my thighs?!?

I guess though that unless they are really painful and there is red blood there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

WuzzAndBuddy · 21/04/2011 08:05

Morning everyone!

Booking in went well, Midwife is really, really lovely. We had a really good laugh.
First thing she asked was what my ideas are for birth, I said anywhere other than a hospital bed, laid on my back. She said 'You're slap bang inbetween (hospital) and (birthing centre), if you're considering (birthing centre) I would suggest really considering staying at home. If anything did happen you would be taken to (hospital), same as if you were at home... and at home you're already closer to (hospital)'
Makes sense really doesn't it!?
I love that she suggested that cos I was thinking of how to raise the subject with DH, who was dead against home birth last time, but knowing how much I hated hospital last time I'm hoping he might support a home birth this time, and with a very jolly enthusiastic midwife behind me... I think he might be talked round! Grin
No bloods. They do them the same day as the 12wk scan here. Am having my scan at the hospital I work at which is just down the road from my house, otherwise we'd have to travel to the big hospital and take out a bank loan for parking, once we'd driven round for an hour looking for a space... all working well at the mo!

I actually came out of my appointment yesterday feeling excited about doing this again, which I didn't think I'd feel. Just keep smiling when I think about my future appointments with her. Really, really positive appointment Smile

Glad I'm not alone with the um... poo thing, maple...Blush

good luck for the scans today, hope they all go brilliantly and I come home from work to some more great 'little beans' news!

Ugh... off to work....

bumpandisaacsmum · 21/04/2011 08:51

YAY for a good da yesterday re: scan and MW appt news :)

Good luck to those with scans today, really cannot wait for mine but still 13days to go.... ah well it will be here in no time I'm sure.

dirgeinvegas · 21/04/2011 09:05

Good morning! Fab news about the scan MrsA and Knitter

Our NT scan went well (sort of). The scan itself showed a thin fold or thin amount of fluid - however you phrase it. The sonographer thinks it will come back low risk.

However The NHS messed up and never told me that if I chose the NT scani t wasn't funded so as I left the clinic they asked me for £170. Mortified! I had to pay it because she explained, actually, they aren't even part of the Countess of Chester Hospital, it's just a private clinic that does no NHS work.

The midwife who told me I couldn't have both NT and Quad tests because the NHS won't pay for both was talking crap and the receptionist who was supposed to give me the number for the Countess of Chester actually gave me the number for a private clinic. I was livid and embarrassed. The sonographer was really embarrassed but insisted I pay. I got out of the clinic and called the community midwives who fobbed me off. I asked why I was told I had a choice of two scans but never told I'd have to pay for the NT. She said I should have been told there was a charge but said "if you go for private tests you do pay" - I didn't know I was going for a private fucking test, I thought it was under the Countess of Chester Hospital. I pointed out that at £170 a test, the NT scan isn't actually a choice, we'd have gone with the quad test.

I complained to the head of the hospital antenatal clinic (which is where I got the telephone number of the clinic). She was very apologetic, said it shouldn't have happened. She's going to find out who the community midwife was and who was on reception in antenatal clinic and call me back today or Tuesday. I did ask why they would recommend a specific clinic if it's private. If I had known I was paying and wanted the test then could have gone to a scan place in Warrington and paid £120 for the same test (closer to home/work etc and cheaper). Interestingly the sonographer at the private clinic was also an NHS sonographer so my mum has a theory that they're helping out their "friends". I am not that suspicious. They better refund me the bloody scan cost.

So that's this months mortgage payment short. No idea what the hell I'm going to do if they refuse to pay me back.

Other than that, I am quite cheery, a private scan was lovely but not worth £170 unless you considered yourself to be particularly high risk or wouldn't miss the money.

Lovely weather here today so I am going to relax in the garden today with DD. Independent midwife coming tonight - excited, nervous...

Will look out for more updates from you all.

Have a lovely day!

Littlefirsttimer · 21/04/2011 10:14

Thank you everyone for all the welcomes and good lucks.

Scan went really well - it has grown the right amount for the new due date, normal heartbeat and all the measurements and blood results show really really low risk for the chromosomal abnormalities. Yay! Feel like I'm going around with a big grin on my face :o Really excited that I can start telling people now - although poss not as excited as my mum is to tell all her friends!

Next scan is middle of June - need advice on how I get it to wake up for next scan, seems to be a very sleepy baby! In both scans so far it hasn't moved and I've struggled to get it to turn around to take the measurements even with me jumping up and down and touching my toes and the sonographer shoving me in the stomach! She didn't seem worried though - just said it was in a sleep cycle....

Good luck everyone else who has scans - make sure you take a book, they were running 40mins late and DH got fed up with my nervous rabbiting nonsense!

ImBrian · 21/04/2011 10:42

Great scan news from people :) Apart from the paying for scan!!!! They should refund you seeing as how they didn't tell you!

I had my booking in appointment yesterday, same mw as 3 years ago with DD3 and she remembered me which was nice. I'm being put in for an urgent scan as she had a feel and agrees that its 12-13 weeks that I'm measuring when by my period I'm only just 10. Quite intrigued as to why this is so, but got every thing crossed its something nice! Hopefully my scan will be next week some time :)

Bluetinkerbell · 21/04/2011 10:51

waaaaah, feeling extremely nervous now... scan in 50 mins. Better start drinking my fluids.
it is such a sunny day today, it better be good news Wink

the house is all nice and tidy as we are picking up DD's godmother later who is staying with us over the Easter weekend and my parents and siblings arrive tomorrow.

is there anyone who also thinks they can feel the little one already?

TerrysNo2 · 21/04/2011 11:02

Just had my scan, Poppy is perfect - measuring 53.2mm, they are dating me at the 2nd but I'm sticking with the 4th. Downs risk is 1 in 8092 which is much higher than DS (1 in 24,500) but I still think its fine.

So so relieved and happy Grin Grin

TerrysNo2 · 21/04/2011 11:11

Oops x-posts - congrats Dirge (although Angry at having to pay) and littlefirsttimer Grin

Good luck bluetinkerbell!
