Can I just say how lovely it is to hear fab scan stories.

I've eaten so much fruit today that I've given myself a really sore tummy. Not sure I want to eat again today

I have never eaten this strong spreadable that you speak of- I fear I would very much like it.

Collie2 · 19/04/2011 17:21

Hi everyone, Its been a good few days since I?ve posted so sorry for missing things as I catch up.

alicat I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Its so sad to hear about death but when someone is young its ever the sadder. She sounds like she was so brave, did she leave a family behind?

busyboy very Envy of your brothers campervan. We are dreaming thinking of getting one that is a rust bucket and doing it up!! Think it would be soo much fun. (the going away in it not the doing it up!!) PS I?m in Saddleworth, not too far over the M60 Smile

folic I am using sanctuary body butter too, although to be fair I probably only remember to use it 2 times a week at best and I do my arms and legs too!! Hmmm boobs, I forgot about those!!

katie I?ve had a headache all day, I am sure it is normal ? I think its liked to dehydration for me are you drinking enough fluid?

Ik congrats on getting engaged!!!

pips and cep YAY for the good scans

I?m just constantly tired and generally pucky!! Trying my best to work from home as much as possible which helps. In fact today I managed an afternoon nap Grin

I?m only 8+4 today so way behind a lot of you. My 12 week scan feels like soooo long off. My last pg ended in mc and my bean died at 9+3 so I?m getting close to that dreaded time again so generally freaking out. I?m off work from Friday and have a beautiful cottage booked on the edge of Loch Long in Scotland for the week so I plan to do nothing and try to relax and re-coup. Plan to have a private scan as soon as get back too, as reassurance as away the next weekend in Belfast with friends.

Enjoying reading about everyones lovely plans for over Easter. It looks like we are in for some glorious weather!!!

Katiebeau · 19/04/2011 19:16

Yippee CEP Smile

Ali sorry I have only just caught up all the news and I am so sorry about your friend. Life is so unfair and injust at times.

Good news PIP.

Hmmm, what's happening here? I met with the consultant at Watford I wanted and he was so lovely and reassuring. I feel much less scared about the birth and he promised me no vontouse (spelling?) ever, no induction unless I beg him and forceps only if he cannot pull the baby out the other way without irrepairable damage. Their % of VBs where the Mum wanted one was 83% without EMCS or intervention and from about 100 babies a year only 2 forceps. Local hospitals around here are only about 40% non intervential VB.

I got to see Bobblehat again too. Nice without the stress of the NT! NT results were OK 1:1600 which is much higher than for DD but consultant was very reassuring and said he looks at the scan and the blood results, not just the odds and he saw nothing right now of concern at all. At 39 my age risk alone is 1:95 so it is much better than that!!

Good luck to all of you with scans soon and I hope no one is having a stressful time.

Headaches likely my BP - 100/55 today!!

Shattered tonight...... but loving this weather.

Glad both your scans went well cep and pips!!

Nothing exciting here, I feel a bit better but still have no energy. Feel like a sloth since it takes me a long time to get going on anything!!

goldmaple · 19/04/2011 19:19

Really glad your scane went well to katie, Isn't 1:1600 close to what the chance for every women is (even younger ones?) so it sounds good to me!

Littlefirsttimer · 19/04/2011 19:31

Hello all - first time I have written on one of these chats but thought I would say hi!

DH out tonight and am feeling angsty about scan tomorrow...

Though I was 12+3 last Monday and went for scan to be told that size showed only 10+6... Saw a heart beat but not really moving - they had me jumping up and down and touching my toes to try to get it shift around to take the measurements! Woman wasn't very communicative but didn't seem overly worried - just said to come back on 20th (12+1) so they could do nucleal scan stuff.

In effort to distract myself have made the mistake of reading things on here about people who went for scan only to be told that it had stopped growing weeks before and they had miscarried. All my pg symptoms seem to have stopped - but that might be because I am a teacher and have had a week of relaxing hols so feeling less exhausted!! Need to stop stressing about it and see what happens tomorrow! Hopefully can then try to catch up with all the advice you from experienced people!

CazandBelle · 19/04/2011 19:40

littlefirsttimer welcome! lots of positive thoughts for your scan tomorrow.

It really hard not to stress out. I'm another one who's pregnancy symptoms randomly got a lot better about 2 weeks ago. I've only puked about twice since then and appetite has gone a bit nuts. Although I only had a fortnight of sickness anyway. Boobs still feeling full and heavy but apart from that I could easily not be pregnant at all. Convincing myself something has gone wrong and there'll be no baby anymore when they scan me next week. (Already had an early scan at 7 weeks and saw heartbeat then). Especially since I had brown spotting at the weekend. Freaking out big time - you're not alone! This pregnancy is so different to my last so far and I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing. It would be far more reassuring I think to be as ill as I was before!

TerrysNo2 · 19/04/2011 19:57

Evening all!

Welcome littlefirsttimer November is much better than October anyway Grin Congratulations on your pregnancy. You can scare yourself silly with google and the like so step away now. And your scan is tomorrow now right, so not much more waiting. Will be keeping my FX for you.

Caz assume you've had no more spotting? That's good, when is your scan?

Katie 1 in 1600 odds are very low, I certainly wouldn't put money on a horse with those odds!! My SIL's was 1 in 125 but luckily everything was fine and her gorgeous DS is 1 on Friday.

I am a bit worried and Angry. I got a letter from the MW which said my urine sample showed "I may" have an infection and that I should go to my GP to provide another sample. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Should I be worried? I can't believe they just sent a letter like that.

Katiebeau · 19/04/2011 20:39

Terry - good point about the horse!!!!! Consultant was great - it was just I was 1:5000 or 6000 with DD 2.5 years ago. To be honest the impact of been 39 was massive. Indeed background rate for a 20 year old isn't a good so I am perfectly reassured today. Re the letter - wouldn't it have been quicker to phone you? My Drs called 6 weeks after I gave birth horrified the hospital had just informed them I had a UTI!!! At least they stopped blaming my temperature on hormones.... That said UTIs easily treatable with antibiotics with loads of experience of use in PG women.

Welcome littlefirsttimer. FX for tomorrow and good luck. Don't panic just yet. They do get it wrong sometimes. xx

MooseyMoo · 19/04/2011 20:48

Welcome first timer. Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Caz I 'vestarted to worry as past 2 days my 12 hour nausea has improved greatly. I still have tender boobs though. Has the spotting stopped now?

Katie Those odds are very good. I would be happy with those Smile

Terry Hmm, nice of your mw to freak you out. I'm assuming she's just double checking on your urine specimen and probably is nothing. If it was an infection she would have phoned.

cep That's amazing news. So pleased to hear babycep is ok Smile

Poppet45 · 19/04/2011 21:04

Welcome Littlefirsttimer I'm hoping my dating scan story with my DS might reassure you a bit. I went for what I thought was a 12 week scan with him but the sonographer insisted that as his bowel hadn't moved into his body from the umbilical cord he had to only be 10 weeks. This scared the shite out of me, and didn't really make an awful lot of sense as my period would have had to have already been late when we conceived! Anyway roll on the summer his original due date July 31 comes and goes, as does his new one of August 16. He eventually turns up August 19th and he's huge, obviously way overdue (with amazing head control from birth which is apparently a classic sign, and peeling skin and looking like he's been in the bath too long). I truly think babies don't grow as uniformly as they'd like to believe and he was his original dates all along but taking his own sweet time!
And for all those with disappearing pregnancy symptoms - mine are too. If it wasn't for the agony that feeding DS still brings I'd say I had almost few left. Apart from ridiculous gluttony Blush

Collie2 · 19/04/2011 21:16

katie glad you had a good scan, those odds sound good, I wouldn't be too worried. I assume your not having further tests?

Littlefirsttimer good luck for your scan tomorrow. What time is your scan? If you don't know exactly when you ovulated your dates could be out a bit. I know exactly when I ov'd but I was 2 days behind at my early scan at 6 weeks. I'm not too worried about the differece (honest Hmm ) as I think they can grow at different paces etc. Will be thinking of you though, I know how worrying it can be.

caz and others with symptoms that have gone, i think the placenta kicks in about 9 weeks and that can ease sickness so if you're past 9 weeks be reassured that's things are probaly working well.

Have booking in apt tomorrow with mw. Obv not expecting much other than to be jabbed a lot with serveral needles!!! My veins never want to give the blood up!!! Hopefully I'll get my 12wk scan date not long after though!

CazandBelle · 19/04/2011 21:44

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. collie that is very reassuring to know about the placenta. I'm going to hold onto that being the reason I'm feeling so much better!

There hasn't been anymore spotting since Saturday morning, it really was only for a few hours - in the greater scheme of things it was nothing at all, its just put me in a very wobbly place is all.

My next scan in next Tuesday, bet this is going to be the slowest week ever! I think a lot of my anxieties at the moment is the build up to it - scans are very scary for me and the last one just put me back into flashback of when we were told Belle had died, BUT we got through our early scan and we will get through this one. Kick up the bum and positive thinking is needed.

11+0 tomorrow.

WuzzAndBuddy · 19/04/2011 22:36

Right!
I found you lot about 11am this morning... I've just finished reading and catching up!
Can you lot either slow down your chat or at least find me, take my hand and bring me back in! Grin
Oooooh I've missed you all!

Scan news is fab! So pleased for those with great news, feels like we're collectively getting somewhere now, don't you think!?

I've got my booking appointment tomorrow... excited, nervous... just want it to be this time tomorrow now!

Got confirmation of DSs school place today! He got in to our first choice! Grin Chuffed to bits. The school is absolutely brill, really lovely school.
Can you tell I'm happy!? Lol

Oooh and just found out one of my best friends is pregnant too! We work together aswell... she's only 5weeks behind me... and another girl at work is pregnant, if thats not enough to tip our boss over the edge....! lol

chipmonkey · 19/04/2011 23:26

Smile at all the great scan news

Hey Wuzz!Grin was beginning to wonder about you!

Welcome Littlefirsttimer

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 20/04/2011 07:19

Welcome littlefirsttimer!

wuzz glad all ok. Great news about DS school.

Glad all the scans going ok. I'm 39 so a bit nervous about the nuchal booked for 7 May. Fingers crossed.

Had booking on Monday and had lots of blood taken. As I thought blood pressure slightly up 145/92 but not stupidly high for me. Referred to consultant due to bp and BMI and previous c-section. Expected it. Mw was nice. Realistic in that she said my risks are higher but that if I was determined to go for a homebirth, she'd rather be prepared. She said if my blood pressure remains stable, we have a chance. Am still going for it. Been reading lots of stuff about women on minute having hb against docs wishes. Problem is, they work on worst case scenario not individual cases. I'm not someone who sits on a couch eating lots of processed foods. I am active, eat lots of fruit & veg and cook from scratch every day but the docs assume I don't.

But big thing today is my dating scan. Its at 11.20am. Very nervous/excited. Hoping to see heartbeat!

Oh and mw thinks I'm 11 weeks. I'm not, I'm 10 as I know when I ovulated. But she had a go at using the doppler as she said u can find it sometimes at 11 wks. Didn't find it (not worried) but did hear a 'windy tunnel' effect which she said was the extra blood flow into the developing placenta! Wow.

Have a great day all.

rightontime · 20/04/2011 09:29

Welcome Littlefirsttimer good luck for your scan today. I think as long as there is a heartbeat I would be too worried about dates being a little out but hope today brings you good news.

Katie Your results sound fine. I think they only do further testing here if your result is 1:150 or worse so you are still very low risk.

Good luck at your scan today mrsA

All this talk of scans is very exciting. Still got 8 days till mine but time is flying!

Welcome back wuzz

Katiebeau · 20/04/2011 09:30

Hello Collie - no definitely no further tests.

Wuzz great to see you back! glad you are OK and very good news re DS school.

CazandBelle - I'm glad the spotting stopped. Waggling crossed fingers and toes for your scan next week. Re symptoms mine are crazy. Gone for a few days and then back again..... Really declining now I am 12 weeks.

MrsArch - You and me together!! Do you pass 40 whilst pregnant? Loads of 40th this year (including me) and no champagne for me. Pity.... I was a wreck before the nuchal, come on here to let it out or PM me. Good luck today with the dating scan.
Re Drs and weight and food. I was at my slimmest when I ate ready meals, toast or take aways, travelled for work and did no formal exercise. I am much fitter and healther now but at least 10lbs heavier. Been slim doesn't make someone healthy and fit. A perfectly slim, didn't gain to much weight 29yr old in our NCT class wanted a HB but her BP went up and she couldn't. Your risk might be higher but it isn't at 100%!!!!! Nor is a young slim person immune from problems. Goes off to tut about Drs misusing "raised risks" to scare people.

TerrysNo2 · 20/04/2011 09:55

Good luck today MrsA!! Keeping my FX for you. xxx

Bluetinkerbell · 20/04/2011 11:39

one more day until my scan! lots and lots to do, as DD will be baptised Easter day and from tomorrow onwards friends and family will arrive, so tidying up the house at the moment.

chipmonkey · 20/04/2011 12:07

Just realised, I have to go for bloods today! Has to be done a week before the nuchal scan. Feck it, I was hoping to bring the boys for a picnic!

dirgeinvegas · 20/04/2011 13:27

Hello all, Just a quickie post to say I have my nuchal scan today. Will update later.

Hope your bloods are ok chip and hope your scan is ok littlefirsttimer

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 20/04/2011 13:31

Went for scan. I am 9 weeks today apparently and DD of 23 Nov!
Very small bean (saw DD at 12 weeks, so much larger). Baby looks like a tiny easter egg Grin

Saw strong, clear heartbeat and all looked fine. Baby did a bit of jumping about and the scanner was happy with it all.

I am a week earlier than I thought. A 4 week old at Xmas (assuming I don't go overdue?) Yikes!

But anyway, have a teeny weeny picture and a nuchal scan in May.

Back to work.

TerrysNo2 · 20/04/2011 14:01

Yay BabyMrsA!! so pleased for you, and I'm really really happy to have another charter completing this journey together Grin

Good luck Dirge looking forward to good news!

chipmonkey · 20/04/2011 14:04
