congrat voodoo, must be a weight off your mind

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 19:12

heres a question some of you might know, what happens at your 16 week appt, i know you have to do a wee sample, do they take more bloods do they do anything to you??? I have no idea what to expect. I know I've got another month I just like to be prepared!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 10/05/2011 19:12

littlemiss,

sorry to hear your news, hope things get better for you soon

I was already a 36DD, but have just bought some bigger bra's and am pretty sure that I'm going to have to get some even bigger soon!!!

I've already said to my folks that we would have a couple of weeks on our own when the baby comes, they weren't happy about it, but didn't say much, although am very sure that things will change closer to d-day.

buffy we couldn't get the NT done either, Baby H wouldn't move the right way, so have my blood tests on Monday. Am sure everything will be alright but will be so nice to get that next hurdle over with.

We are off to Cambridgeshire in July which means driving from Perthshire to there, but am staying one night in Glasgow and another in Harrogate on the way down to break up the trip, love both of those places so should be good fun :)

bumpandisaacsmum · 10/05/2011 19:45

For those with smaller boobs... 1st pg was 32a & went to just fitting into 34dd :) didn't start getting much bigger til 6 months though so plenty of time!!
Post BF I stayed 34b (I was happy) but this pg by 8weeks I was already 34d... That now feeling tight so think I need a larger one soon though will put it off as long as possible!!!

DS made me laugh today... "Daddy, when mummy's belly is bigger you'll need to do all the cooking, washing & cleaning so mummy can look after baby better". I like the idea but DP wasn't so impressed Hmm
Though bump only small DS is already kissing & hugging baby, sweet but kind of embarrassing when he comes running out of school shouting "baby" at top of voice then kissing my belly Blush

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 19:58

bumpandisaacsmum, bless your little one, how cute!! And what a wonderful thing to say to your OH!! Think someone needs to tell my OH that!!!

oooh so there is hope for my boobs yet, OH already thinks its christmas because they are bigger than normal, why are men so obsessed with these things!!!

goldmaple · 10/05/2011 20:08

alicat I def have a list of names all picked out, trouble is getting DH to agree on one:) But he fluctuates with names...

bumps very impressed you do christmas baking that early! Maybe I will be more prepared this year also!! But not likely... (and now I want some fudge Grin)

missyN Hadn't thought about visitors yet, but I'd really like some time with just the baby and DH (and my mum). But who knows as this is the 1st granchild on both sides.

missyraines great news about your scan!

Going on a small family trip to the lake for a week, but no other vacations as I have to work and save up money:)

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 20:13

I've got the difficulty of both OH's and my parents are divorced and remarried, so will hve to do allocated visiting times!!! And it is the first Grandchild on OH's side so they will want to be round straight away, if I could just have a day to myself or maybe two to just get myself and tiny one sorted and into some sort of routine I'll be ok!!

BuffyFan · 10/05/2011 20:28

voodoo that's great news! I am so glad I didn't have to wait until 14 weeks for a scan - how did you have the patience??

Sorry for scaring everybody with thoughts of Christmas! We're "buy it when you see it" people, but that's not so easy when you don't go anywhere. So I definitely like the idea of baby themed gifts for people!

Back to work tomorrow Sad but on the plus side am looking forward to telling people! Smile

NotJustKangaskhan · 10/05/2011 21:12

I had my booking appointment today - and happily got the same lovely booking-in midwife I had last time around and she remembered me which was lovely. First time I've seen a midwife in more than one pregnancy (and this is my fourth and I've lived in the same area for all of them). I hope she sticks around, last time they were doing another major reshuffle so I saw a different one practically every time, and most not as nice as her. She arranged my scan for this Friday, which made up for not having time for a heartbeat check and her not adding the extra days in my cycle to my due date (I have a 33 day cycle, those 5 days make a big deal at the end with induction pressure!) - both things I'm hoping the scan will sort out!

MissyN It's typically just a wee and a blood pressure check for you and a heartbeat check for baby. I've never had bloods taken at a 16 week check (and with a history of anemia, they like taking my bloods!).

goldmaple My husband's hard to stick down with names as well. He has such a hard time telling why he likes or doesn't like most names - it's just 'he does'. I have my name lists - with most names staying the same though I change it a bit now and then - which hopefully will get down to only a small handful to pick from when the baby is born! Amusingly, we tend to pick middle names before we can agree to first ones...(at the moment, it's after my grandfather if a boy, and after his grandmother if a girl).

PamSco · 10/05/2011 21:26

Have people got there 20 wk scan date yet?

I called up the mw to ask when I get it and she put me on to ultrasound who were helpful, but said you are only 13+4 so you won't get an appt for about a month? I know it is trivial but we would really like to book our holiday. She did say as long as I was home for the last week of June I'd be ok. Given I have amnio at 16 weeks and need to wait for those results it looks like our last "free" holiday will be a long weekend in the garden lol.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 21:36

oooh pamsco don't talk about 20 weeks scans yet, I havent had my 12 week one yet, which Im not having until monday when Im 13+1. I seem to be really far behind all you guys :(

CazandBelle · 10/05/2011 21:44

alicat we've chosen our names already! You just know when the right name arrives! I can't wait to tell you all who Bow really is! We're going to Babybond in Cardiff, costing £79 which I didn't think was that bad. They can do gender scans between 16 and 34 weeks according the website. I'll be just 18 weeks on my scan date.

My 20 week scan date should be arriving anytime. Lots of scans over a couple of weeks in June. I have my private one on the 6th, one at the hospital on the 13th June (a doppler to check on blood flow to see if my asprin level needs adjusting or decide if they want to add clexane injections too) and my 20 week should be about 10 days after that or so.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 21:49

Think we're going to have a private 4d scan at 24 weeks but that wont be until end of july beginning of august time, as OH is going to miss all of the other scans and I really want him to be a part of it.

We have chosen our names too, funnily enough our middle names came before the first names, Im just hoping they suit the tiny one when it comes out!

CazandBelle · 10/05/2011 21:49

ooo I'll have to namechange when we know who Bow is won't I! Otherwise they're very left out!

CazandBelle · 10/05/2011 21:50

missy in my experience, Belle's name suited her perfectly when she came out. It was who she was, and we'd bonded with her as that identity. I couldn't have imagined calling her anything else.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 21:50

indeed you'll be cazandbelleand......

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 21:52

anyone like any really out there sort of names, I like them but im not brave enough to call my child any of them. A child at my neices school is called Hero? Nice name but rather unusual.

CazandBelle · 10/05/2011 21:55

We're quite traditionalist for names. I like unique modern names, but I don't think they would suit me and DH as a couple. Belle's full name is Anabelle Violet.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 21:56

caz what beautiful names, so very pretty, I love violet! I like traditional but not popular names, love the name jack though.

Truffkin · 10/05/2011 22:38

We made our appointment for the 20 week scan whilst we were there for the 12 week scan on Saturday. It's on 2nd July - another Saturday, which is great! When I was at the hospital today, because the consultant referred me back to the MW I had to make an appointment for after my due date!! That was very strange.

We've talked a bit about names and I think we might struggle to agree Hmm and the problem is that I've got a common name so like more unusual ones whereas DH has had issues with people mispronouncing his name and likes more 'usual' and traditional names. Also he's Irish and likes traditionalIrish names, especially for boys. He did suggest Lando for a boy, based on a Star Wars character and I'm not convinced by that!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 22:50

hmmmm lando..... interesting choice there truffkin, cant say it being something from star wars would convince me either!!!

voodoomunkee · 10/05/2011 23:39

Hiya, on my phone so it is difficult to keep up with all the posts! Not sure how I had the Patience but there was not much I could do about it! Have got the 20 week scan booked, 4 weeks time. Also think 16 week appointment is when they take more blood. That's in 2 weeks for me. I hate getting blood taken! Anyways best get off to bed, this is the latest I have been up in months without a snooze of some kind! Night all!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 23:41

nights voodoo, the only reason i am still up is because i had the longest sleep earlier!

MissyNorfolk · 11/05/2011 06:24

morning,

I cant remember if there are any scans today? If so good luck! It is drawing ever closer to mine thank goodness, only 5 days to go, is taking a life time though!!

voodoomunkee · 11/05/2011 06:53

Morning missyN, bet you can't wait for the scan! My oh was sat with his mouth hanging open the whole time! Can't believe just how clearly you could see the lo. Don't remember my other 2 being like that!
