Littlemiss So sorry to hear your news! Sad Sad I really hope you have better luck soon.

Caz congrats on your good news. No reason why you shouldn't have a private scan!

Good luck Voodoo and Buffy on your scans today!

I emailed my ex to tell him of my pregnancy and he sent a very nice email back saying he knows how much I want this and is very pleased for me. And if his first reaction wasn't quite so positive, the beauty of email over face to face is that I'll never know! Quite relieved he's being fine with it. Was going to make for an awkward week in a villa in Spain with the kids and him in July otherwise!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 12:18

Ooooh mashpot you can join my small boobies club, am feeling rather inferior with all these big bazoookas about!!!

Good luck buffy and voodoo

voodoomunkee · 10/05/2011 12:52

Thanks for all the good luck vibes! Buffy best of luck too! My OH is very excited and I have to admit that as I sit at my desk pretending doing work, I can feel a little thrill of excitement tinged with fear!!

Katiebeau · 10/05/2011 13:02

mashpot I would love to join the small boobies club! In my dreams.... post op....

Staceroo · 10/05/2011 13:18

Katie very confused by your last comment??? Are you having/had a boob job??? Bigger or smaller??

I don't really belong in either club, as I was only a little one - 32B. But got measured at 9 weeks and gone up to a 32D!! DH very happy, and slightly obsessed with them! Which I quite enjoy now they've stopped hurting so much!

Though I think as soon as they start leaking they'll be out of bounds again! Ewwww!!!

Rubbish week this week as I'm away from home! In Aberdeen, and I live in south wales! Least I have mini B to keep me company!

Am loving the maternity trousers for work... so comfy! And going out for an indian tonight, so they could come in handy (thinking again of Joey's thanksgiving pants!)

I would love to be able to justify paying for a private scan, waiting until 20 weeks does seem along time! My next is booked for 29th June, and that's when we'll find out 'the flavour' as you put it!

Look forward to hearing more scan news later on today!

Missyraines · 10/05/2011 13:28

littleMiss that's awful. All of our worst nightmare. Take care of yourself and take time to heal. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I feel bad saying this now, but I've just popped in for 5 mins to say scan went well yesterday and everything is bang on. There were tears. MIL happy. We went for a meal yesterday (not that food is enjoyable for me but it was their Christmas present so had been booked for a while) and Ricky Gervais and his OH were dinning there too and was joind by Karl Pilkington and his Mrs. I was like oooooooooo. I wasn't drinking and the waitress asked if I was the designated driver and I said no I'm pregnant. It's the first time I've 'come out' and it felt weird. Like I'm a fraudster.

Might need bigger clothes soon as belly is bigger and hard too. I agree with Staceroo about Joey's pants. Elastic waistbands will become our bestfriend!

Happy about the other good scan news. Keep 'em coming.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 14:34

ooh lovely news MissyR, so glad everything went ok and having a lovely meal too, ricky gervais, wow, i would have been beside myself!!!!

Folicacid · 10/05/2011 14:54

Sorry I haven't been on for a while so don't think i've quite caught up either so apologies in advance.

Littlemiss so so sorry to hear about your scan. There's not much any of us can say that will make it change or feel any better but just take care you.

Folicacid · 10/05/2011 14:58

HOLIDAYS

What are you all doing for holidays this year? We didn't want to go away until early September but that seems too long away, I'll be 7 months pregnant and finishing up at work a matter of weeks later. Stupid idea?

June is too soon as we've just been away. July and August will be scorching hot most places in Europe so doesn't appeal.

Hmmmm...

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 15:05

Hi Folic, I'm going to Italy, Venice, it is my 30th birthday present from OH, in August.

It was booked ages ago though! Im going to have to try and not get too hot!! And I wont be able to sample any of the lovely red wine :( Should be nice though we're in a townhouse with a roof terrace so should be fine for resting and relaxing too. I think when we do go out and about, I will just have to rest quite a bit, I think a hat and a parasol may well be in order too!

Katiebeau · 10/05/2011 15:44

staceroo if I ever had the money and guts - reduction all the way!!!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 15:49

Maybe we could split the bill katiebeau , I'll have what you don't want :) both my sister and my mum had boob jobs after they had kids, so i don't think it says a lot to how mine are going to go!!! Think I may be investing too in a few years time!

cep · 10/05/2011 16:29

not going anywhere this year, can't afford it. am gutted we normally go to Greece every year. Sad

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 10/05/2011 16:42

Mash and MissyN, I'll join your club, there's no sign of my 32As doing anything to break free from the bra just yet!

Congratulations to everyone having good scans, we are getting so close to being safe. Well, as safe as we can be anyway.

Folic I'm off to the lake district in August, and up to the Isle of Skye to visit my father in law on the next bank holiday weekend. We've decided not to go abroad this year, not just to save money, but I'm not very keen on flying anyway, and I was very sick when we went to Iceland the week before Easter. To be honest, our holidays are going to be taken up with visiting family, which literally cover the entire country. We have to visit Devon to Orkney, and just about every town in between once the baby comes!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 16:47

Thinking ahead here but is anyone else worried about the huge influx of family that will suddenly appear on the doorstep the day the bambino arrives?

I spoke to one of my friends who is a new mother and she said she wishes she'd put everyone off for a couple of days just so that they could settle in and get some much needed sleep before everyone turned up! I don't know how that would go down with OH or the family if I tried to do that. What do you think?

CazandBelle · 10/05/2011 17:40

missynorfolk I'm going to try putting people off. The last thing you'll want is hundreds of people in the first week or so.

I'm going to be so annoyed by all the people who return from the woodwork once we bring a baby home. There's already a load of people who suddenly have something to say to me again now there's a new baby on the way. They must think I'm fixed now and Belle is forgotten and I'm ok to talk to again.

Don't know whether I'm upset by this or angry.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 18:01

Don't be either hun, just feel sorry for them, that's all I'd do, you know who your friends are and who you can depend on.

BuffyFan · 10/05/2011 18:12

Hi all just to say the scan went well - phew! Worry over (well until the paranoia sets in again). One viable bean. It was a proper jumping jack as well - would not keep still! Grin

MW couldn't do the NT measurement as I'm too fat! Hmm Of course she didn't say it like that but that's what it amounts to - she couldn't get a clear enough picture. tbh it was almost a relief as "is there a baby? isn't there a baby?" was enough worry for today thank you. Frustrating though as it means relying on the blood tests post-14 weeks.

And at least now I know that when they say turn up with a full bladder they mean turn up kind of needing to pee a little bit. I had to pop to the loo twice to "let a little bit out"!!! Blush

Holidays - just had a week in Shropshire which was lovely. I want to save as much a/l as possible to tag onto the beginning of mat leave, but we'll probably end up taking time off in September but not going anywhere or just seeing family. Money also an issue so definitely not doing anything too exciting :(

Caz and MissyN I'm waivering. I have a latent fear that nobody will care and we won't have any visitors at all. But them all turning up at once would be just as bad! And yes, the ones that don't normally pay any attention are annoying. A steady stream of visits over a number of months would be ideal, but of course there's Christmas in the way and family never do what you want or expect them to do...

Anyway, enough whittering from me! voodoomonkey hope everything's gone well for you today?

smilingcl · 10/05/2011 18:31

Hello all, congratulations Buffy! Bet that was a big relief!

MissyN, I'm a bit worried about the family thing, my OH is Danish and I'm keen that his parents feel included as I've already stolen their youngest son but they're divorced and the idea of one, and then the other staying for several days in a row does worry me a bit. His Dad is the kindest sweetest man you'll ever meet but he has a peculiar effect on me which results in me feeling highly irritated by him after just a couple of hours.. oh dear.. poor man.

MissyR, congrats with your scan too, that's fantastic. I know what you mean about feeling a fraud saying it outloud, it's funny, guess we'll get used to it though!

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 18:32

oooh yes voodoo where are you hun??

Ooooh I forgot about christmas, crikey, I dont know how im going to cope christmas shopping!!! I guess I will just have to do it all on line as I cant imagine wandering around the shops at 9 months preggars, or dashing out after the teeny one is born!! OH is away for all of christmas and new year anyway ho hum... have just heard he has been delayed coming back on this trip already, so wont be back until 31st of may, so will have been away 5 weeks instead of 4, sometimes I really hate his job!!! Well most of the time actually.

MissyNorfolk · 10/05/2011 18:33

p.s. congrats on the fab scan buffy!!!

bumpandisaacsmum · 10/05/2011 18:38

folic we won't be venturing anywhere exciting on holiday this year :( with ds being in school need as much a/l as I can for summer hols & before mat leave!! Summer hols are too expensive to go abroad so it'll prob be a week with my parents & a week with my grandparents!!

missyn I understand your worries but don't worry what family will think!! Speak to your OH and see if you can agree about those who will be welcome straight away & those who you'd prefer to wait a while. People will understand and it tough if they don't. I know we'll have immediate family around to begin with but entended family will wait (though most will mean me travelling to anyway!!) And as for friends...they can wait til I am ready and they are invited (unless they want to do housework for me & I'll pay in the form of baby cuddles, tea & biscuits :) )

Yay for some more good scan news :)

caz if we could afford it (or was in your shoes) then I would definitely go for a private scan!! Cannot wait to hear re: peoples flavours, DP really doesn't want to know (I don't really but thinking it might be nice) so we won't know until baby arrives!!

bumpandisaacsmum · 10/05/2011 18:44

Arghhhh... Christmas F* forgot about that, will have to make sure I am super organised this year (normally have it all done by november Blush)

Hmmmm... Family sorted, DS & I can make some frames & put hand/foot prins from baby in them!!! May well do my usual x-mas baking as well and provide people with fudge, cake & biscuits (all of which can be made in october!!). Now to think of the DS, DP & neices/nephews!!

alicat10 · 10/05/2011 18:44

LittleMiss so sorry to hear your devastating news - take care x

Caz where are you going and what are you paying if you don't mind me asking - been looking for something around 18 weeks in Bristol but can't seem to find an option - most say up to 14 and then from 24. My 20 week scan is 21.5 so quite fancy finding out sex sooner - even started thinking about names last night ....

voodoomunkee · 10/05/2011 18:49

Hi everyone! Just got in, so popped on for 5 to say scan was great! Am 14 weeks dead on and due date is 8th Nov. Baby fine and apparently 'a right little poser' cue everyone looking at OH!

Congrats Missy R and Buffy, great news!

I feel SOOO much better now I have had a scan as it has felt an age inbetween finding out and getting to this point.

Re the hols, we dont tend to make big plans to go away as we just pack up the car and the tent and off we go.

From what I remember I said to people if they could wait a day or so that would be great when I had the other dc's as I was too knackered to even contemplate seeing people. I then went to my parents and to my then oh's parents and let people come there. I was able to zip off to feed the baby and have a rest whenever I needed then.

I had a great plan re xmas shopping... i know roughly what people will want - especially the dc's so I am going to start buying things now - for example DS will want games so I am going to buy some vouchers now that I can either spend if I feel like it or give to him, same with dd who will want clothes etc. Parents are simple as they will take what is given and the nieces like to exert their right to choice and prefer money/vouchers.

Sorry for long post!!
