lk yay for great news on your lil girl :) now make sure you enjoy your rest & junk food x x

Welcome to the newbies... Hope pg is treating you well

Congrats to those also with good scan news this week :)
Those waiting scans, don't worry time will fly past :)

As for feeling better at 13/14 weeks... Am 13+3 today and energy levels are much improved - not quite 100% but nearly there!! MS front though am still suffering, nausea most of the day & sick 2-3 times ish but I can say this is a great improvement (& do have some days without)

Paracetamol is safe in pg, though dehydration is large cause of headaches so might be worth trying upping fluids to prevent further (I keep getting them as forget to take drink in car when at work, though have to balance fluid intake with toilet needs as some patients houses I really wouldn't want to use their facilities!!!!)

knockedupagain · 05/05/2011 19:46

lk I'm so pleased for you! I think we'll all sleep better tonight! And you know what sort you're having! A just reward after all the worry.

Cep Great for you too, that the scan went well.

chipmonkey · 05/05/2011 20:49

So happy for you lk!

pookypup · 05/05/2011 20:53

ik so so pleased for you. A little girl :) too how lovely!

Cep i'm sure 2.1 is fine esp if you are 3+many! It keeps growing with baby up to 13+6.

jamama · 05/05/2011 21:23

LK!!! (attempts to dry tears before DH finds me crying) So pleased for you. cep and other scanees wonderful news too. Now torn between excitement and fear for tomorrow afternoon. Not sure Michael Moseley is best prequel - too much talk of miracles and danger methinks. And that poor woman with triplets!

Poppet45 · 05/05/2011 21:29

Cheers Little Miss Ik !!!
Your post brought tears to my eyes Ik - darn hormones Grin
My scan went really well too. Bunny looked similar, but rather different to DS at his 12 week scan - more leggy but less of a chubster! Also rather than trying to escape from the sonographer, this wee baby was unphased by it all, lots of yoga stretches then laid down graciously for the nuchal measurement which was 0.8mm!! And a nasal bone too! The scan also put me another couple of days ahead so 12 + 2 whereas I think I'm 11+4, but they agreed not to move my due date forward

Staceroo · 05/05/2011 22:10

Cheers LK (Waving Kiwi & White Grape J2o!)

Pleased all worked out to be OK!

My phone has finally calmed down after being non stop yesterday following the outing on Facebook!

It's so nice now everyone knows! I feel like I've just found out we're pg again, as the excitement has built up again and can finally talk about baby!

Bump seems even bigger now I'm not trying to hide it, yet I keep telling people that it's not my baby bump! But then get embarrassed saying how it's just bloating Blush

Glad everyone has had good scan news and hello to eggy

Night night xx

smilingcl · 05/05/2011 22:27

Hello Ladies,

Fantastic news Ik, can't imagine how relieved you feel! And now you know it's a girl aswell?!

I'm 14 weeks today, I definitely feel I've turned a corner this week. Everyone knows and it's like in response the nauseas stopped and my belly has popped. This is my first and I have a definite morning pot now, when before it was just evening swelling! People keep going whoo baby! and pointing at my stomach which is slightly unnerving as I've never been completely flat bellied anyway..

I felt fluttery feelings in my lower belly when lying in bed last night, it was slightly tickly rather than poppy which I've assumed is the mountains of gas I seem to have in my system at the moment. I'm not sure if I imagined the flutteriness, I haven't felt it again today.

My work clothes are all too tight now, finding it difficult to motivate myself to buy some maternity work clothes. I've been donated lots of casual stretchy tops and dresses which is nice, where can you get comfy and nice maternity tights and leggings?

I've looked at schools! Then all the blurb on the website put me off so I've stopped looking, that can come later. I'll need to sort out a nursery but hopefully not for a year so that can wait too. I have registered for NCT classes tho, want to meet other mums near me so I have someone to encourage me out of the house. I'm worried I'll get overwhelmed in dirty washing and babycare and not be able to dress myself and get out...

Eeek.

goldmaple · 05/05/2011 22:36

Yay!! LK what great news!! Hope you have no problems sleeping tonight:) especially after gorging yourself on yummy food!!

PamSco · 06/05/2011 00:43

LK great news! Will sip water in celebration.

Hell Eggy, congrats and welcome.

I finally got hold of a midwife on the hone today - 2 days of trying and they have urged me to go the doctor about the liver pain. Weird day today. I've kept very little down this week, and I have really tried. Today I was eating like normal woohoo, very pleased with myself. Walked to the polling station and back and by the time I got home it was like a scene from the Excorcist, The lot. Everything from breakfast onwards back to say hello. So definitely going the quacks, I'm acting dehydrated - dark brown pea, thirst, no digestion, and that is after 6 litres! 6 bloody litres!

And then I go and watch that wonderful woman on the BBC homan body prog, smiling away as she has an emergency c-section for her natural triplets - what a gal! Aaah it shouldn't be this hard.

PamSco · 06/05/2011 00:45

and my spelling has gone to pot....

Thanks to everyone given me hope that I'll feel better soon btw. It is good to here that 2nd trimester eases up for you.

PoppysMom · 06/05/2011 05:42

lk I am so pleased for you!

Staceroo I know exactly how you feel! I told yesterday as well and it is nice that now everyone knows as the sneaking around is horrible.

I also made it official in work yesterday, so all good :)

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 06/05/2011 06:25

Morning all,

glad to hear about your good results LK, what a relief and now you know it's a girl :)

Glad to hear about everyone's good scan's, now we just have to wait for the next load of scans at 20 weeks and the baby's flutterings!!

MissyNorfolk · 06/05/2011 06:27

smilingcl, this made me laugh - "I'm worried I'll get overwhelmed in dirty washing and babycare and not be able to dress myself and get out..."

It is exactly how I feel!! I worry that I will end up staying in my pyjamas all day and be one of those women that wear their slippers to the supermarket as I've forgotten to change them!! What if I become a recluse, or i cant keep up with the housework and it looks like a complete and utter mess so no one can come round for fear of seeing it?!

I know these are all silly things to worry about, but I do worry about them all the same, espec as OH is away so much....

bumpandisaacsmum · 06/05/2011 06:44

pam hope you feel better soon x x

smilingcl & missyn don't worry too much about becoming housebound or keeping up with the cleaning omce baby is here... Most areas have a number of baby groups (anything from coffee morning toddler groups, breast feeding support groups to baby massage, baby yoga, baby gym!!) There will be loads to tempt you out. With DS my MW was very helpful & went the extra mile to find a list of all the groups in my area (am gutted I moved so can't have same MW) but health visitors are a great source of info as are childrens info service!!! There are also the antenatal & postnatal groups that the nhs run that are great to meet people :). As for housework, your house may not be perfectly neat as it was pre-baby but once you get a routine (can take a while) you'll be fine in the meantime people are likely to offer help & most who visit will understand :) though I do know someone who when baby was sweeks old not only found time to blitz the house but make nibbles and cakes for visitors

cookie9 · 06/05/2011 07:55

LK so pleased for you!!

Good luck with all those who have scans coming up.

mashpot · 06/05/2011 08:36

lk & Cep and all others, really pleased for your good news.

I barely keep my house tidy now, no children, so I also worry a bit what the state of my house will be like! I had a quick look online at local nurseries as have no idea how quickly we need to sign up for this sort of thing but no one publishes the costs so may need to make some calls for more info.
I was also wondering about signing up fir nct so will look into that over the weekend.

Can I ask, did others have an internal scan at their 12 week nuchal scan? I did and my sis in law was sure you don't normally have that till 20 week so just wondered? I do think Kings are very thorough as they also give the blood test results at your appt which I can see from here a lot of people have to wait for.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Poppet45 · 06/05/2011 10:02

What do you mean Mash? A check of the baby's internal organs during the scan, and also a look at your ovaries etc? Or a scan using an internal scanner instead of the one through your belly? My sonographer checked me and the baby over thoroughly - I had a lovely series of views from the top of the head to a tiny pair of little feet at the end! But this was with a normal scanner, not the dreaded dildo cam Grin. I think scans have improved such that you can see a lot more to check even at this stage. I did the NCT with our first and can really recommend it. The lack of info given in the NHS ones is quite substantial and I still keep in touch with all of our group now almost 2 years on. It was vital in the early days and now its so lovely to see how all of the 'bumps' are growing up.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 06/05/2011 10:15

lk I am so pleased for you - what weight off your mind. And to find out it's a little girl too!

mashpot not sure what you mean by an internal scan? Do you mean fanjo cam? You only have one of those I think for early scans. Apart from that no one is touching my fanjo until i give birth Grin But if I've misunderstood, please let me know!

Those of you thinking about nurseries, you only really need to consider them if you need childcare when you return to work. Apart from that, don't worry until your LO is approaching 3. As we are Nov babies, they won't get a nursery place at school until the term after their 3rd birthday (or if in Wales like we are, until the September following their 3rd birthday but we do get the funding from the Jan after their 3rd birthday).
That means full time school will be Sept 2016 Shock - 2 months before they are 5.

Unless it's a private school, you can't put your name down early - everyone requests their school in the Jan before they start in the Sept. It's on my mind atm cos DD is almost 3.
Otherwise, don't worry :)

Missyraines · 06/05/2011 10:50

Good lord, schools? It's a whole new world isn't it. It's making me realise what a massive thing it is we are all doing.

LK what fab news.

My headache went with no pills but will def drink more water. Think I'm getting a bit of a bump too. But it could just be lard?

Only 3 more sleeps until scan...

dirgeinvegas · 06/05/2011 10:53

Sorry for sporadic posting, I have taken a new job which means lots of travel and more hours (but also more mat pay so I am trying to stay positive).

I had to come on to say LK!!! Such huge congratulations, I am thrilled to read your news. Smile

I havent read through all of the posts I've missed. I'll try and catch up on Sunday night xx

mashpot · 06/05/2011 11:22

poppet and mrsA yes - the dildo cam! My first experience of it! I had the external/tummy scan which lasted ages while they checked everything and took measurements etc and then they did dildo cam after to check length of the cervix too. I couldn't see the screen for dildo cam but dh said he saw great pics of the baby's face, like that massive attack video. Anyway, I wasn't expecting it and as noone else mentioned it I wondered if it was usual or not. Well if anyone else has a scan at Kings coming up they can expect the dildo cam!

voodoomunkee · 06/05/2011 11:56

Crikey I have 2 dc's already and never experienced that particular scan! Hopefully I will never experience it either! Now it is finally Friday and I am able to feel like the scan next Tuesday is not actually that far away. Have to admit I have been feeling rather like burying my head in the sand or running away at the moment, just been feeling rather hormonal and a bit down. Never mind am sure that a relaxing weekend will help!

Hope everyone is well x

knockedupagain · 06/05/2011 12:30

Hi all. Just got back from my midwife appointment and have been given the results of my bloods for downs screening. Including the nuchal measurements my odds have come in at 1 in 7285. Seems weird to be 50, and have so much better odds than the last time! Amazing the difference having a 27 year old egg donor makes!

Truffkin · 06/05/2011 12:42

LK sooooooo pleased for you, am sure it's a huge relief and you are now over the moon excited to meet your daughter!

I'm working from home today as I woke to find I'd had a bit of a bleed in the night. It's stopped now and was only a small amount so am not too worried, especially as my MW is not concerned either as it's stopped now and I'm not experiencing any pain. She thinks it might be down to me having a very busy, rushing around week particularly yesterday) and also possibly related to the violent (her words, but have to concur!) sickness I'm still experiencing. I am 12 weeks today and have the scan tomorrow so am hoping that everything will be fine when we see the baby tomorrow, still it's best to be safe so decided that cutting out the 2 hours of commuting is a good idea!

Mashpot I've had a few dildo cams in my time pre-pregnancy but also had one when we went for our private scan at 6 weeks as it shows more detail for a tiny foetus. For 12 weeks I've never heard of an internal scan being done. Sounds like you got a very thorough service though, so good news.

Well, all being well we will be making our announcements this weekend! We're travelling up to the Midlands straight after the scan and have several things panned to visit my Dad, siblings, grandparents and some close friends. I think others we can tell on the phone or by text and then assume by next week it will have got on to Facebook, although I'm not planning on an actual announcement via my status I don't think. My Mom is very excited to tell her best friend, bless her I think she has found it harder to wait the last 6 weeks than we have! Still, we're almost there and will get to see our baby properly tomorrow. The scan stories on here have added to my excitement and I really hope he or she is wriggling around putting on a show for us Grin
