I'm on baby number 5, not counting (quite a few) mcs.

MY bump is biggest at night, and I have a theory about that. My wee is very dark in the evening, despite drinking plenty, so I reckon the bump is partly fluid retention. I then have to get up two or three times in the night, and produce a lot of dilute wee each time. Bump (fluid) gone by morning. I find it's a bit better if I remember to put my feet up on a cushion quite high in the evening when watching telly - seems to drain some of it into bladder, but still up once or twice in the night anyway.

cookie I had the painful ligament stretching at night whenever I coughed or sneezed, and it was much better if I raised my knees when I felt a cough coming. I think you stretch most lying flat, so it helps to minimise the sudden stretching.

Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 02/05/2011 16:43

I'm having number one, I was fairly overweight anyway so already had a sizeable bump but it definitely is bigger by the end of the day, but mostly due to bloat and water retention I think!

I've been hunting for maternity clothes, everything I had for work was just fitting and now it's too tight, just been to Mothercare (the ONLY shop in the whole of Dundee and Perth that does maternity as far as I can tell) and bought a couple of dresses, couple of tops, jeans and cropped combat trousers, will still have to go to Next and Mamas and Papas when I'm next in Glasgow to get some work clothes. If you go onto the websites of a lot of the big clothing stores that do maternity wear they often state in their store directory whether they have maternity in store so I can try stuff on :)

Just posted my scan photos onto facebook, makes it all really real - eeeek!!!

goldmaple · 02/05/2011 16:55

jackrussell woo... took the facebook plunge! exciting! Might do it after my scan tomorrow if everything is ok!

My bump is 5x bigger by evening, but I know its because of gas/bloating etc... In the morning I just look thicker all around:)

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 02/05/2011 17:01

I've got a load of family abroad so it's only fair that they get to see the photos and facebook is the easiest way to do it - bloody terrifying mind!!

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 17:10

Number 5! knockedup, sad to hear about the mc's though. Are your other dc's excited about the bump?

jack am a bit on the heavier side too but it is all hard now so looks like bump! OH swears it is twins Hmm.

gold good luck with scan!

MooseyMoo · 02/05/2011 17:44

Oooh lots of scans tomorrow. Good luck everyone Smile

I am shattered. DD was 1 yesterday, had a nice family gathering and then went to the the zoo today. Hadn't realised how important my afternoon naps are Blush.

Quite a few people at the zoo with buggies so we were checking out the double buggies. Can't decide between a double buggy that's side to side or one where babies are behind one another - does that make sense?

Can't believe this is the 2nd bank holiday weekend where the weather has been nice - what's going on!

Maternity clothes - I just bought tops a couple of sizes bigger until I really started to show (about 26 weeks) and then got proper maternity tops from Blooming Marvelous but I think that's been taken over by mothercare. I didn't buy maternity trousers as they never stayed up so just bought elasticated trousers from M&S which I am now wearing again!

cep · 02/05/2011 17:56

fx for scans tomorrow.

mat clothes i've got so far from next online as they seem to be the only ones who do my size without being horrendously expensive.

Is anyone else getting cramps still? I've started getting some cramps yesterday and today. sounds weird but i can't tell if it's my stomach or high in my groin area. I had spd last time and am starting to get it again. It's making me worry about thursday though. as if i wasn't worried enough.

busyboysmum · 02/05/2011 18:51

Just back from gorgeous 5 days camping in Llangollen with lots of friends for hubby's birthday - we go to a wonderful camp site there with a stream running through and rope swings and views of rolling hills. The kids were just off making friends and we hardly saw them except when they needed 1. food 2. drink 3. a change of clothes as they had fallen in the stream!!

I have got my scan tomorrow at 9.30am so am just hoping that everything is going well - if I get a pic I will do the facebook announcement tomorrow.

Hope everybody else's scans go well.

Smile
Bluetinkerbell · 02/05/2011 19:13

Fx for all the scans tomorrow and following days!

Just a quick question, as it is busier on here than on the potty training bit...

DD (2,5) started going on the potty on Saturday, doing really well, except for poos... twice in her knickers.
Going back to childminders tomorrow and she asked to put DD in pull-ups as risking her doing a poo in her knickers is unhealthy for the other children...
I don't want to put her in pull-ups... I fear she will forgot going on the potty to wee then and she won't notice she needs to do a poo...
WWYD?

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 19:36

Thats a tricky one! Not sure I have got an answer either Hmm You could try asking childminder if she can remind dd regularly to use the potty? Am sure the childminder has had experience of this before hence her request, maybe it is worth asking what they would do? Sorry am not much help! Sure it will work out though!

Staceroo · 02/05/2011 19:46

Sorry tinkerbell I'm a newbie to all this being a first timer so can't offer any advise!

Starting to get really nervous about tomorrow, and in laws keep talking about it, and I don't want to, cos I'm worried something will be wrong.

Hope to god we all have good news tomorrow! Seems like a lot of us scanning. Good luck everyone!

I'm scared to buy maternity clothes until scan shows everything OK. But I desperately need some, I managed to find 3 outfits for work which hide bump to get me through the short week last week, so glad I will be able to make the announcement if alls OK tomorrow, so I don't have to hide any longer!

Probs won't do facebook until the following day, as we have a very long list of close friends and family we need to ring first though, so we will mostly be making phonecalls tomorrow night spreading the news!

Can't wait to tell my dad, as it's been a pretty rubbish time for my family lately, my dad especially, as we lost my little brother a year ago, and it will be nice to cheer him up with news of a grandchild! My mum knows already (they're divorced) and it's made such a difference to her having something to look forward to in her life!

Re showing, I have a huge bump, as mentioned above struggle to hide it, but it's not baby it's bloating! I can now feel a little hard bit just below my bump though whcih I believe is baby! Grin aparently it's at 12 weeks when it comes out of your pelvic bone and you can feel it!

Well good luck again for tomorrows scans! Will let you know how I get on!

Bluetinkerbell · 02/05/2011 20:05

don't worry Staceroo you've got that all to come Wink

TerrysNo2 · 02/05/2011 20:23

Evening all

bluetink I am potty training DS at the moment, you can read my Potty Training Diary here on my blog if you are interested. I can't believe your CM won't keep her in pants, poo can always leak from nappies so it seems like a pretty weak excuse to me. You could always tell a little lie and say she doesn't have poo accidents!!

My bump is quite big already although I have lost weight so very happy as my face is a bit slimmer - I go off food in pregnancy so never really fancy anything and eat just to stop fainting! My only craving at the moment is soft cheese (been eating dairylea and boursin on french bread and calippos). And mine is biggest in the evening too with food added!

Good luck for scans tomorrow, will be looking forward to good news.

bumpandisaacsmum · 02/05/2011 20:28

bluetink why does the childminder want pull-ups instead of pants?? It'll make no difference to the other children what your DD wears!! To me it sounds more like childminder wants to have the easier option when it comes to cleaning it up!! If you feel it may reverse the potty training you have achieved so far I would put her in pants and just take pleenty of spares and let childminder know you don't care what state pants come back in!! With my DS we had probs with poo (fine to start but then started having accidents) we used our understanding of the body to prevent - best time for poo is after getting up warm drink & breakfast therefore I bathed and sat DS on toilet every morning and he went most days with few accident!! It is still his routine now to sit toilet every morning before school!! If your DD has any regular times that she goes poo it may be worth sitting her on potty pre-emptively!!

Have my scan weds, kinda apprehensive but I'm sure all will be fine :). Bump here also, definitely larger at night but think that more due to muscles relaxing due to pg, constipation (slightly due to being competely off veg & most fruit still trigggering ms) & bloating!!! Do still have bump in morning just slightly smaller, can feel what is baby though from what is not!!

Good luck to those having scans tomorrow FX for good news :)

Bluetinkerbell · 02/05/2011 20:36

thanks Terrys I have read your blog, your DS is doing really well!
CM had a few accidents with DD and nappies after DD jumping on the trampoline Wink so yeah I also don't understand why she wants her in pull-ups. There was a bit of a misunderstanding I think which I tried to clarify, but I'm still waiting for a reply.

thanks Bump I have had messy clothes back before, so like I said I really don't care what state pants come back in.

It's the time of day again where I can feel our little wriggler kicking away... so cute :)

cep · 02/05/2011 21:06

blue the advice i've read when training ds said not to put them in pull ups as can be confusing. Once i put him in pants he was in nothing else during the day. poos take a little longer than wees but she'll get there.

People who have started feeling movement at what stage have you startedfeeling it? as well as my aches/cramps mentioned earlier i've been feeling funny "movements" but don't know if it is or not, (i've not passed wind afterwards) but 13+2 just seems a little early even if it is no.2

Bluetinkerbell · 02/05/2011 21:09

cep thanks!

I am 13+4 and have been feeling movements for over a week now. Specially in the evening while lying on the sofa or lying in bed. I even felt some very obvious kicks... amazing for something that tiny Wink

TerrysNo2 · 02/05/2011 21:22

Bluetink very Envy of your kicks. :)

cep · 02/05/2011 21:34

it wasn't an obvious thing. just getting bloomin worried by the aches. can't wait till i know it's moving then if i get worried i can prod it. Smile

reading this damnyouautocorrect.com so darn funny, tears been rolling down my face, ds got really worried earlier cause he thought i was crying.

bumpandisaacsmum · 02/05/2011 21:50

cep I too have had some odd feelings that I can put down to nothing but movements, seems a little early to me too as only 13 weeks tomorrow... Despite this being pg2 I'm not sure what I am feeling as didn't know I was pg til 24 weekd last time so movements were definite once I knew!!

Folicacid · 03/05/2011 07:29

Mornin,

What does movement actually feel like?

I'm up with the lark and scan not til afternoon so many hours to stress!

PamSco · 03/05/2011 08:43

I get a fluttering feeling, like more substantial stage nerves and a bit lower down. Mostly in the morning. I think it is to do with the fact I always end up sleeping on my tummy and it is kicking me back out from inside after being squished. But then again that could all be in my head!

1st constipation today boooooooo - off to make a spinach, apple, kiwi and mint smoothie. Yum.

Scan at 3pm

Katiebeau · 03/05/2011 08:59

Hello Folic. I didn't feel much in my 1st pregnancy until week 22! I did feel a scratching sensation before then from about 18 weeks. I'm 14 weeks now and haven't felt anything recognisable yet. I can't wait to feel those kicks!!

OP posts:
PoppysMom · 03/05/2011 10:44

Good luck for all the scans today.
Mine is tomorrow :)

CazandBelle · 03/05/2011 11:25

Hey all, I thought I felt movement a few days ago. It felt like a very definite bubble pop that I had when I first started feeling Belle (at around 18/19 weeks with her though), didn't know whether I was imagining it because it was so early, but apparently it isn't unusual to feel baby earlier on number 2. Haven't felt anything since mind you! I never had flutterings, to me it always felt more like little bubbles popping inside me.

Anyone else having horrible dreams? I'm feeling knackered at the moment because its like my head isn't shutting off at all when I'm asleep - some very random and some just horrible. List of them on my blog. Last nights was particularly horrible, there was no DH around, just me and baby (who happened to be a boy, again, always boys at the moment) only I'd completely lost the plot and gone loopy and wasn't fit to look after him. Our friends S+T (in real life they have 5 sons!) had somehow managed to get custody of him and he was being taken away from me. I was screaming at them that she couldn't be his Mummy because I was and that he had to stay with me. I was holding him really tightly and wouldn't let him go. Horrible.

Now I know why I'm having these dreams, I know its fear, but it is so unsettling. Feeling fragile a the moment I guess.

Hope everyone enjoyed the bank hol weekend. I'm back in work tomorrow, so just writing me last few reports/reviews and my weekly plan! Already counting down until the next half term holiday! lol!
